[Q] Internal Storage read problems - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys, i need your help with something.
So, im using Nexus 5 Experience CM11 based 3.1 with hellscore kernel and since yesterday have this huge issue:
It seems that the rom doesn't recognize the internal storage very well, i mean i can see the storage in root explorer, and i can acces it like viewing pictures and stuff ... but in the gallery no picture or video shows up, neither in mxplayer ... and when it rings it has the default ringtone ... i cant set one from my internal storage.
If i take a picture with the camera it shows up in the gallery ... but just that picture, when i use root explorer i can see all my pics and the new one,
Any idea how to fix my problem ? I tried re-flashing rom, clrearing cache, tried stock kernel and other kernels and it didn't help
Huge thanks in advance !
EDIT:
I just restored a backup from 2 weeks ago and i have the same problem ... wtf HELP

How about flashing back factory images? Maybe your internal partition got corrupted. Or just flash back stock recovery and do factory reset. It will format your internal as well. So you might wanna make a backup on your computer before doing that.

help me get my photos back

hi guys
i took some pics at a family wedding and since upgrading ROM i don't see them anymore
so they must have saved to phone not card . is there any way i can get them back
please help
tia
you can check your phone memory location using file explorer go to device, my documents, they should be in my Pictures.
Another way is go to Camera tab and press Album (left corner) this will give an overview of what is stored on your device and Storage card check each one
I suggest also going into your camera options and changing the storage option back to storage card

If you flashed a ROM then all prior data is technically unrecoverable. Sorry! ALWAYS BACKUP YOUR DATA!!!!
Oops I missed that you had upgraded your ROM bugger
You could try a data recovery software search google there are lots of freeware
Run the program choose your SD card and see if it finds any JPEG files
I have done this before and was successful
Good Luck
thanks but the photos must have been on the phone all the other photos are still on the card , can you run recovery software on the phone itself
cheers
marty
Ok i've found tons of software to recover from the card but none to recover from the phone itself does anyone know if any exists or a way to see the phone with pc software cos only the card shows up
thanks in advance
marty
I hate to tell you this but once you flash a rom it erases everything on the phone and rewrites it so those pics are gone.
There's no such thing as a photo recovery software for a flash ROM.
I'm sorry for your lost, but once you flash a different ROM, everything is wiped clean. It happens to the best of us, OP. I had similar things happen on my Diamond. Just remember to go through your checklist of the things you need to backup/save before you update the ROM.
Ok strange things
i ran recovery software on the card and found photo's taken on the correct date,
recovered them to pc, can see a thumb nail of 1 which is the wedding but none open , anyone know good recovery software ? i've used kroll ontrack recovery pro
seems flashing the rom did do something to the card (i think)
note to self "always take out card when flashing "
thanks for all help
i live in hope

You wouldn't happen to move the HTC album cache to the SD card, did you?

how to get back my original rom data

well it's not much here, just before i did my first messing with rom change, i deleted some files from my original rom (friend stream, photo gallery, some themes...)
now i did a full wipe and install the stock rom again, i get back everything except the sample photos gallery, so basically there is something missing, is there a way to get everything back as original?
thank you
in another word, where are the default htc desire hd photo samples located on the device, is it on the internal or sd card?
again it's a simple question for those experienced, and yes i did a search, and no i couldnt find anything related to the subject, so plz can anyone at least with a non modified, rooted or sd formated device, check the sample photos folder and tell me where is it located, if it is on the internal memory or SD card?
Did not you get a full back up on the stock rom before you for another rom?
no dint, just full wipe, flash rom
The sample photos are on the sd card /mnt/sdcard/DCIM
,
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
thank you greenwot 100 times for your reply

[Q] Memory card issue after flashing 7.1.0

Hello members.
I just found a strange issue that I have started facing lately whenever I try to flash a custom ROM on my Defy.
Current stock ROM was 2.2.2
I rooted it and tried This ROM. After flashing it I realized my Proximity sensor stopped working after sometime and my memory card was out of space according to my cell though Astro and ES explorer could access it and I could play music too but my cell still said that Available memory was 0 ( It had 1GB free memory )
Then I changed the ROM to 2.3.7 posted by Quarx hoping it would solve my issue but I had same 2 issues again.
My stock ROM is working perfectly and is not showing any issues. Please tell me what do I do ?
I want to use custom ROMs real bad :3

1) after taking the nandroid backup of ur stock rom .. clear the cache from stock recovery..
2) then u come to custom recovery (via CWM) and wipe data/factory reset and than u install CM7 and flash Gapps .. then wipe cache & dalvik cache ...Reboot
i think u wont be having any problem after doing this..
Cheers
I have the sbf file of the Stock Rom so thats not an issue. I did try the steps you told me to follow but I had the same problems ! Dont know whats causing it.

[Q] LG Optimus L5, recovery and app2sd don't see the external SD

Hello World,
I've got a question concerning the external 8gb sdcard on my phone,
the phone is rooted, has bootloader and cwm 6, the rom is stock btw
My phone can put/place some things to the sd but some don't,
for example,
- Camera saves some of the pics to it,
- My PC sees it when I connect the phone and I can put apps/music etc to it
but,
- I can't use the app2sd built into android assistant (or any other app2sd apps) to move the apps to the sd, they just won't see the sd,
- CWM wont backup to it,
No /sdcard/.android_secure found. Skipping backup of applications on external storage

I've searched the forum, but I can't actually find the right solution for this?
I'm new to all of this, and I want to learn. I've found some advices to similar problems and that the solution is to partition the sd, is that the catch or maybe something else?
Thank you in advance, newbie.
Edit
A new example of not seeing the sd in recovery,
I wanted to flash the "Sony Album" via the Pimp my Rom app, it downloaded the app successfully, it asked for clearing of the dalvik cache, I approved it,
phone rebooted and went into recovery, and then the recovery said that the file doesnt exist (something like that).
Edit
I've tried formatting the sd with fat32, no changes whatsoever :S

Are you using a custom recovery? If so, which one?
A factory reset will definitely resolve the problem, if nothing else works.
