Common Problems with HTC HD2 and Resolutions - HD2 General

Hey Everyone,
Since there are tons of problems with the HTC i made a quick run through of what you should do if any problem occurs and known solutions, hopefully to reduce the number of posts.
If any problem rises these steps should be taken before posting:
1. Try a Hard-Reset by pressing the volume up and down and power key, this is return everything to default settings and if the problem is resolved it might be a software you installed, or just a random windows fault.
2. Try reloading your current ROM with Task29 you have installed, through PC preferably and then do a hard-rest. If the problem is resolved it might be a software you installed, or just a random windows fault.
3. Try reloading the Radio, if it resolves, you might have had a corrupt radio file
4. Try reloading your Official ROM using SD card thus removing HSPL to see if it resolves issue.
5. If you phone won't turn on, try taking out the battery for an hour, put your battery back in, plug in the phone, and then leave alone for 10 minutes, then try to start. Might be a battery issue if it does boot.
Common Problems with HTC HD2:
1) Touch Screen stops responding
Resolution: Call HTC and have them repair it as it seems like your digitizer stopped working and will need the screen to be repaired.
2) Constant Freezing and reseting of HD2
Resolution: Could be your motherboard, if you followed all steps above i would recommend calling HTC to have it repaired.
3) Phone will not turn on after flashing rom or radio
Resolution: you might have bricked your phone, thus out of luck.
4) USB socket has broken off the PCB
Resolution: You need to replace motherboard and is not covered under warranty.
Warranty Procedure of HTC:
They will require your SN number of your phone, explain your problem, and ship it to them. Pretty simple. Remember the 1 year warranty they have in place is based on manufacture warranty not actual sale date. If you bought this phone and still have a year left and there computer states you do not have a year left, this is when a receipt is required. They do not care if your IMEI is blocked or anything, they only want to fix your phone. It will take approx. 2 weeks to fix and get back to you.
If you want to add anything else to this list just msg me. And if you like this post please Thanks ;-)

Big problems with Touch HD

I have a UK supplied Touch HD from Orange and it`s going crazy!
Problem 1:
Backlight switches off without warning, touchscreen still responds but obviously you can`t see anything! Multiple hard resets will eventually coax the backlight to wake up, but the delay between power button pressed and the "first buzz" of life is around 20-30 seconds. Started happening when it was about 2 months old. Initially it was infrequent and I put it down to an installed software problem, but now every few hours. Other symptoms include the charging light failing when the backlight fails and there is usually an increase in heat around the case. Strangely however when I use it as a sat-nav and it is permanently charging the backlight never fails. I have tried a new battery, desktop charger, turned off fast-sleep, autolock, light sensor, full reset and removal of all my software and it still does it. Sometimes its OK for 5 days, other times it goes "dark" after 10 minutes.
All ROMs updated to latest versions. NB This started happening with the original Orange installed ROMS
My original solution to the problem was to run bootloader which forced the backlight on, but the long delay between on/off and start means this doesn`t work anymore.
Problem 2:
Screen display appears inverted and mirrored after pressing power button during operation. This is an infrequent problem but may be connected.
I live in Thailand now. HTC Thailand will no doubt take it and charge me $250 for a new motherboard whether it needs one or not. I can`t easily return it to the UK and I just hope somebody somewhere has some ideas?!?
I was just talking to another user with completely bizarre issues. What you are experiencing is totally abnormal. Just to make sure it's not a software issue- what SPL version shows up in your bootloader? Also, what rom are you currently running?

** OOPS my typing brain isn`t working today **
Thanks for replying. I had upgraded to:
2009_RUU_BlackStone_HTC_WWE_1.56.405.1_Radio_52.62.25.34_1.13.25.24_Ship
with soft uspl but last night I reinstalled the original Orange ROM, effectively factory fresh. (The HTC April update won`t install natively on the Orange variant of the phone) and the thing stayed on all night and didn`t go dark. However, this morning when I got the reply, I turned off the phone to get to bootloader and it took 3 battery removals to activate the backlight.
Anyways SPL is 1.14.0000
R 1.09.25.14
G 52.49a.24.26u
D 1.14.22273
Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

So is the phone working properly again with the factory Orange rom? All I can tell you is that if you want to run the 2009_RUU_BlackStone_HTC_WWE_1.56.405.1_Radio_52.62.25.34_1.13.25.24_Ship rom you must have a base SPL of 1.54.0000. Even if you use USPL to flash the rom to bypass CID-locking you still need to upgrade your SPL because the new 1.56+ roms are not compatible with an SPL version less than 1.54.0000. Read the guide in my signature for more information.
I see cRaCKwHoRe is on your case, so your in safe hands. I'll leave it to him.
One suggestion though. Instead of creating new posts and saying 'Read Next Post', why not just edit your first post and state 'EDIT' or 'Update' with new information below. This way thread remains short and easy to follow
Just an idea mate!!
Hello again. As I said in the previous post, reset to check the ROM version caused it to happen again. 3 Attempts to wake it up this morning. This afternoon another spontaneous backlight failure. I started to wonder if it could be connected to something on the flash card. So I took that out and it has behaved since then. But this doesn`t mean problem solved as it had worked ok for the 5 previous days with the WWE 1.56 ROMS.
Also, HARDSPL is being identified as a Trojan "heur" with Bitdefender.

Most virus scanners show a false positive that USPL and HSPL are trojans or viruses. This is based on heuristics and how these utilities work. They are tried and tested and are most definitely safe.
And again I stress that you cannot run a 1.56+ rom on an SPL version below 1.54.0000. Since you are running SPL 1.14.0000 this is why you are having such issues. You need to flash a newer SPL version!
After the hardspl back to original Orange ROMS:
Anyways SPL is 1.14.0000
R 1.09.25.14
G 52.49a.24.26u
D 1.14.22273
I had 2 dark events. I wondered if there could be a problem with the memory card, so I took it out. My reasoning being, after it goes dark and is reset, something was causing it to wait 30 seconds before "smart mobility" and/or buzz (if the screens still alive). When my PC does that its usually because there`s a memory card or external hard drive confusing it. Took out the card and it was OK all night. Formatted the card this morning and had no problems all day. This is a guess, I am an idiot! But the memory card is the only ongoing part of my phone; internal storage and ROMs has been cleared or upgraded every month.I dont doubt my feeble attempts to upgrade to 1.56 and bypass HTC`s no upgrades for Orange handsets policy may have been a significant contributory factor. Interestingly, Orange are actively discouraging purchase of the HD, they have had too many problems with their handsets.
Going to keep the phone empty for a few days, no software, no sat-nav and see if I have any more events. Then I think will read your HARDSPL instructions far more carefully and retry the ROM upgrade. Excellent work by the way!
The odd thing about this telephone (apart from the inversion and mirrored display problem, which still occurs) is that following the nuclear option of total clearance and ROM upgrade/downgrade it will behave for an number of days and then the backlight dies again. It could still be hardware!
Going to keep my eye on things for a few days.
But if anyone else has had these problems with their HD or Orange handset, please tell! Maybe you aren`t crazy! To help this is a list of symptoms:
Spontaneous backlight failure but screen and phone responding
Simultaneous charging light failure
Delayed reboot 20-30 seconds before first buzz
Continued backlight failure requiring multiple hard resets to resolve
Weak vibration during failed backlight reboot
Inverted and mirrored screen at boot or after wake-up
Thanks!
Looks like a SPL problem only. It is responsible for the boot events and mismatched display drivers between SPL and the ROM most likely did it. Anyway interested in knowing updates once U flash a new SPL 1.54. and ROM..
Problems not resolved. Backlight dead again today. Multiple failures 10 minute interval. Totally fed up with HTC products. My previous HTC phone MDA Vario 2/Tytn/Hermes had to be replaced 4 times under warranty and until 2 weeks ago I used it when Touch HD died, now it has completely died as well.
Even in its "as-supplied" by Orange configuration the Touch HD won`t work now. May be I will try one more attempt at ROM upgrade. In the meantime I`ve just bought a cheapo Samsung sgh i200 for basic pocket PC functionality and just because it doesn`t say HTC on it!
Windows mobile is great. Massive software library and great to customize. But in my experience HTC make lousy unreliable products!

That's really unfortunate. Seems you have bad luck, consistently
Most people really like HTC devices. They do actually make some pretty decent stuff. Seems you've just gotten rotten luck.
Taken it back up to 1.56 with Hardspl as suggested. Installed Dutty 3.4. And it worked... For one night! Dead again today. I think now it is a hardware fault. So I suppose she`s off back to HTC and I will have to pay some money.
I have been very unlucky with HTC products. I said before I had to have 4 HTC Hermes, thought it would be interesting to tell what was wrong with them:
1. Orange SPV3100 WM5. First generation Hermes 100, hopeless wifi, buggy, returned to store and refund.
2. MDA Vario 2. WM5 Upgraded radio version, better wifi. Decided it didn`t like being a telephone anymore and the radio died after 3 months. Returned to store.
3. MDA Vario 2. WM5 Factory replacement. Dead memory card reader, didn`t make it out of the store when I went to collect.
4. MDA Vario 2 WM6 (Hermes 300). Working wifi, a much better operating system. A real telephone. Lasted 18 months! 2 weeks ago, complete power failure for no specific reason. Won`t charge or do anything now.
But before Nokia and iPhone customers get too smug. I also had an iphone when they were first released in 2007 (1.02) and that was a bug infested piece of junk as well. Got stolen in Bangkok. I really do miss having to reinstall the OS every 2 weeks! And my brother`s Nokia N95 has spent more time with Nokia than with him. 8 visits to Nokia care.
And now I have a broken Touch HD, probably with a power supply issue!
All these phones have one thing in common. They were (with the exception of the Hermes 300) first generation examples. And just before you rush out and pay big bucks for the latest telephone from HTC or whoever... Think, was this phone ready for release? Or was it just rushed out to keep the shareholders happy?
Think about it...
Hell! finally I found someone with the same problems. But I have bought it just some days ago!! The only thing I have done since then: installing tomtom on my sd-card and setting this gps-signal thing to the value 3000.
when I bought it i tried to run it in the store: after turning on, black screen but still vibration when i pressed some button, so it must have been on. Then it suddenly worked, installed the system, everything perfect. yesterday i installed tomtom, today it probably "died" around 20 times. everything the same like already described, screen messed up, after turning on vibration after 30 seconds, god!
is there anything i can do? i just bought that thing
Spontaneous backlight failure but screen and phone responding
Simultaneous charging light failure
Delayed reboot 20-30 seconds before first buzz
Continued backlight failure requiring multiple hard resets to resolve
Weak vibration during failed backlight reboot
Inverted and mirrored screen at boot or after wake-up

Sounds like you have the exact same problem as my HD: inverted screen, screen blank but still functioning etc...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=520781
I am waiting for mine to happen more frequently before sending it away for service. Otherwise they will just return it if they can't reproduce the problem.
Pretty sure it is a hardware problem. I am in Australia and have the original stock ROM.
We may be onto a new fault here. Just noticed 2 more threads with the same screen issues. My phone has been OK for a few days, but today screen won`t wake up at all. Hooked it up to Pocket Controller Pro and it`s reporting a "microp version mismatch 0" in its dark state. Been checking on other websites and this seems to have been a problem with Touch Diamond previously. There doesn`t seem to be an update for microp firmware. One user tracked it down to a loose connection between screen and motherboard. I don`t know! I just wish it would work!
Any suggestions for MICROP issue?
Currently running Dutty 3.4 with 1.56 Olinex. But this has been a problem long before this ROM version.
Fallen Spartan told me this:
"Have you tried going to Start > Settings > All Settings > System > Power > Advanced and making sure device isn't set to turn off after a period of time?"
Until now my phone works without problems, I will report again after some days
Yup, tried that one. Doesn`t work. You will notice after you end a call, the screen will be dim. This is the warning of imminent backlight failure. It is not power management dependent. My problems with the phone started in Feb. Initially intermittent. Now constantly.
Sometimes the thing will work for a few days for no reason. Only way to guarantee no failure is permanent USB power. Pull out the USB and watch it die, instantly! That`s with the original or the new battery.
New motherboard may be the only solution. But it is worth noting that when I had problems with my Hermes and it had to go back to HTC 3 times, each time a new phone was sent. On the service report "New motherboard" was reported. The guy in the T-mobile shop told me they`re too expensive to repair so it`s easier giving you a new one. They still hold onto the old one for 3 weeks though!
Might try to repair the Touch HD, I still have my Samsung SGH. (It`s very slow!) but I think I will wait for ASUS or Toshiba phones with snapdragon processors. Had enough of HTC and don`t want another iphone.
This is a hardware issue. No if's, and's or but's. It is caused by a disconnection between the screen and the motherboard. A faulty motherboard or a loose / broken connector is the usual culprit. I would say 7 out of 10 times it is due to a loose connector. It is a poor design to begin with and after being dropped or roughed up enough it tends to break or get loose. HTC typically just replaces the motherboard in a warranty repair situation.
If you are lucky and just have a loose connector and are comfortable with opening up the device yourself, you can disassemble the device and re-connect or re-solder the 2 port connector that connects the motherboard with the screen. Of course this will "void" your warranty so I wouldn't recommend doing this unless you are comfortable working on micro-electronics. If your case is the type where it is intermittent and it works sometimes and then sometimes not, then you have a loose connection and it just needs to be reconnected or re-soldered.
I have seen and fixed a couple of these now.

Display alignment issues

Hi,
I have the following issue and would very much appreciate it if someone can help me out or has seen it.
My phone has OliNex 1.56 and Energy Phoenix ROM ( from sometime December I believe )
The issue is that the display does not correctly interpret the clicks on the display. For example I click an button or try to select something it thinks that I've selected the one above it ( or below it - it's random or I cannot figure out the pattern ). If you open and excel file and try to select a cell - it select 1 or 2 above or below it. When I manually align the screen it fixes the issue until the next screenoff or call. Afterwards it's the same thing.
Operating with the phone is a real pain and close to impossible.
I started seeing this about a week ago (haved using the rom for a couple of months ) when I had to take out my SIM card to test another phone. Afterwards it has been like this. ( I haven't dropped the phone or damaged it )
I tried restoring a spb backup from before the issue - it did not help. I then tried flashing with the latest Enerty ROM and did a hard reset afterwards - it it is same. Again it can temporarily be fixed with the screen alignment.
I'm suspecting either an issue with the OliNex or with the HW
Thanks,
-EvilKid
Ive had the exact same problem. Turned out to be a HW problem.
Restored mine back to original (ROM, Radio, SPL) and HTC fixed it in 10days
My friend, your probably are having a problem with the digitizer, you have to send it to HTC assistance so that they can repair it. If it's still in the warranty it's for free.
Moved thread to general section, not rom related. Cheers.

[Q] Touchscreen locked out permanently

OK, posted a few days ago about this foolishly thinking it was solved. However, here's the problem. My touchscreen is completely unresponsive. This isn't the lag problem, which I've had before, but the phone acts as if it hasn't been touched at all. In other words, the only input accepted comes from the buttons.
This happens when I'm running android. Waiting overnight doesn't help. Pulling the battery doesn't help. I cannot even use the touchscreen in WM when this happens! Moreoever, if I do a hard reset, I still cant use the touchscreen when the setup pages show in WM. The touchscreen is completely gone.
The ONLY thing that has worked (once) to restore function is to pull the battery overnight.
The only pattern to this seems to be that it happens when I have a message waiting while running android (no, not every time). The screen will be locked, and I can't get the lockscreen to clear. Eventually I pull the battery and reboot in windows, same problem. Hard reset, same problem. Last night, had the problem so I landlined in and cleared the voicemails. Then did a hard reset, but the phone during the setup still indicated I had a message (!) and the touchscreen was locked. It is as if the notification was 1) stored in a different memory than the phone (does the radio keep this information) and 2) that until the phone is reconnected properly it can't clear the notification and won't let me access the touchscreen. Perhaps the overnight battery pull allowed the notification to clear from the phone somehow?
I'm looking for any help on this. Is there an aggressive way to clear notifications? Would a task 29 solve this? Button combo I"m unaware of?
Thanks in advance
yoiur unit may need to be send in for repair. sounds more like a hardware fault. You may be able to get a digitizer from ebay and replace it, though they are a bit tricky to replace. Ive only ever done it on an mda varia and that was a paid
This is actually not uncommon... i have a friend who purchased an HD2 and used it for a week or 2 and the touchscreen stopped. You can try and do the task 29 however it didn't help hers... has your phone ever come in contact with static electricity? This seems to be the #1 killer of the touch screen functions with the HD2's... (so far i've seen 4 of them die like this)... i would try task 29... then if that doesn't work call HTC and ask if you can send it in for a repair, most of the time if its repairable, they'll fix it and charge you a fee of usually $100.00... if its not repairable due to faulty hardware, they will send you a new one (usually re manufactured) another option is, if you have tmous take it back to a store and show them... they should be able to swap it out for free if you have insurance on it
I was concerned about hardware, and it may still be the issue, but it seems intermittent, in that sometimes I can get the phone working again for a couple of days. However, this symptom has only come in the last week or so, so it does seem as if something has changed. I'm constantly tweaking my Android setup, but I can't imagine this could have an effect that would go over to WM, especially after a HARD reset...
Possible solution
OK, if you've read the thread above, you know that hard resets didn't seem to solve the problem. However, I just did a hard reset without a sim card installed, hoping to clear whatever notification was stored on the phone. While the touchscreen was still locked without a sim, I re-inserted the sim and did another hard reset and it worked! Time will tell if this is a real solution. Luckily, my android system is just on the sd card and easily booted up or I would spend all my time rebuilding my phone!
Again, does anyone know if this might be related to the radio rom? I've tried a couple radios since this started 2.14 and 2.15.
OK, one more update. I notice now that when I long-press the hangup key, to get the context menu for such items as shut down or turn radio off, the touchscreen becomes inactive. Several minutes later it seems to come back, but my conclusion is that the connection to the touchscreen must be near or under that button and I'm affecting an intermittent connection.
This is the last post I have on the issue because I got a refurbished phone sporting ROM 3.14 and Radio 2.15 less than 24 hours after asking TMOUS to replace my phone. Now I have to clean the custom rom off the old phone and send it back, so I'll never know for sure if it was software or hardware, unless the problem recurs on the new (refurbed) phone. However, the symptom above with the long press hangup does NOT happen so it seems that was the issue.

HTC HD 2 stucked on Htc logo and buzzed 5 times

Hi i have checked the similar post and it does not seems applicable for my problem.
My hd2 has nand wm6.5 and SD android
yesterday was very high temperature and my phone was frozen
and i removed the battery and let it cool down
and i tried to turn on the phone and it stucked on htc logo white screen and buzzing 5 times. It stucked there, i tried remove and put it back on..same thing happen. I leave it alone like 5~10mins and turn it on, it got into WM and i managed to boot android too, and it got stuck after a while...and this morning i tried to restart my android as unable to connect to wifi..and it stucked on htc logo screen again...i did like yesterday wait for 5~10mins sometimes it not working sometimes it works. and until now it does not freeze at all.
(Please note: my hd2 stucked on htc logo and buzzed 5 times were happened before the high temperature happened so i dont think temperature caused something on it..but after high temp it got slight worst)
any idea? do u think reinstall wm6.5 would works? i did hard rest, does not seems working.
Thanks you so much in advance for all your helps and advices
This happened to me back when I was using the SD android roms, It started with the random freezing / crashing with the 5 buzzes then later would not boot at all. Lucky it was still under warranty so I flashed the original SPL and sent it away to get it repaired.

What do you reckon if it is hardware problem or?
if you flashed the original spl again or reflash the wm6.5 rom, would it help?
in your repaired or replacement report from service centre, does they mention if the board problem or?

Yeah it was a hardware problem, when starting the phone I would get a white screen with an error message (can't remember what it said). I called HTC and they deemed it faulty then gave me a code to give my service provider that I'm contracted with. Here's what it said on the order completion sheet after I got it back:
Reported Problem:
White screen with error message, htc deemed faulty.
Repair Order Comments:
22/11/10 MD Component on main PCB failed, supplied replacement unit new IMEI: ******************
Tested O.K. Please note: balance of warranty continues from original handset purchase date. Please retain this document as proof of replacement.
It took about 3 weeks to get it back but Ive had no troubles since then.

but mine does not have error message, when i power on hd2 and it shows white background with htc green logo and the phone buzzes 5 times and stuck there. i have to remove battery and leave it there for few minutes and put it back and power on again..sometimes it will get into wm interface; sometimes it remain same buzzes 5 times and stuck there.
So may be slightly different then yours? or would be the same? you call htc straight or call the service centre? do you have info about whereabout service centre? also self paid delivery or they will arrange courier to pick it up?
thank you so much

Mine started with the buzzing and freezing and sometimes would not boot, then after trying to flash a new ROM it would not boot into WM at all and would display a white screen with some kind of error message. I actually think I bricked the radio somehow because I could still flash ROMS but the update process would freeze while trying to flash a radio. I hope my problem is different from yours so you don't have to send it away.
Firstly I called HTC Australian service centre and told them that I woke up to find my phone would not boot up and would display an error screen (If you flashed a custom ROM or anything don't tell them that). They told me that it is faulty and said that it is covered under my warranty and gave me some kind of repair code. I went to my service provider (Telstra) and told them that HTC deemed my handset faulty then had to fill out a Mobile Device Repair Form and they sent it away.
After about 3 weeks, I got a call from telstra saying that it was ready to pick up from them. I don't know what you would do if it's not covered by some sort of warranty, find a repair shop that does HTC phones? just ask HTC. You should try flashing a stock ROM before anything though, what about reinstalling HSPL?

[Solved] HTC HD2 Touchscreen not working, not responding, frozen, malfunctioning

The Problem: My HTC HD2 touchscreen has progressively gotten worst over 2 months. At first, the keyboard was typing up wrong alphabets, then major function keys begun to malfunction, and later the whole screen. From XDA reviews, I found that changing Radio, WM, or Android ROM do not help.
Solution:
This instruction may apply to Tmobile USA users. In my search for a Do-It-Yourself fix, I searched internet for several days to no avail. Amazon.com sells Touchscreen and Digitizer but their results were inconsistent; the replacement also required time, skills & instruments that I do not have.
Tmobile: Tmobile (800 number) asked me to restore OS, but it did not work. They asked me to take it in the Tmobile store. The store associate looked at the phone, but they did not want to do anything with the phone as I did not buy my phone from Tmobile - they directed me to HTC or a local repair shop. Local repair shop was going to charge $100 for a repair and turn around time of 15 days.
HTC : I called HTC (888 356 2375). As the phone was still under warranty, they offered to take a look at it & repair it. HTC also mentioned that if the warranty is void for any reason, they would charge $39.00 for a triage fee and call me to confirm the repairing cost (in addition to triage fee). HTC mentioned that any illegal softwares found on the device would void the warranty.
Restore to OEM:
I had to restore my softwares to OEM as I installed a newer radio, HSPL, MAGLDR, and a custom windows ROM. To do so, following ROM was flashed :
RUU_Leo_1_5_TMOUS_2.10.531.0_Radio_Signed_15.34.50 .07U_2.08.50.08_2_Ship
Flashing above ROM restored ORIGINAL OEM radio, SPL, and Windows ROM. It also removed MAGLDR.
After restoring softwares to OEM, I sent the phone in. The repair was done by HTC without any charge. After sending the phone in, I had my phone back in 1 week - fairly quick service compared to all the other options I had at hand.
In the process, HTC kept me informed via email regularly. I talked to several HTC reps and they were very accommodating and courteous. I mentioned to HTC that my battery drains very easily. Promptly (in 2 days), HTC sent me a replacement battery for free. They mentioned that as long as the phone is under warranty, they will replace accessories ONCE for free. I will buy HTC again despite the touchscreen problem.
Immediately after receiving the phone, I installed newest Radio, HSPL, MAGDLR & my first Android NAND [HD2_Core_Droid_Desire_HD_V1.4_NAND_ONLY_LEO1024_TOUS]. The android ROM is rocking even harder straight out of box.
Enjoy.
Had the same, perfect service from HTC.
Got it back in a box that said "im back" .. Took 4 weeks though.
This made my decision to stay with HTC in the future.
Same problem, possible not yet solved
My UK T-Mobile HD2 started this in December 2010, I found that 3 or 4 hard resets got it going, but the next day it did it again so sent to T-Mobile repair center, they stripped it put it back together. No Fault Found. Updated the firmware (well re-installed it as there was no newer version avaialble at the time and sent it back to me.
It worked a treat for 5 weeks then the problem was back. Sent away again, Firmware update. No Fault Found (T-Mobile had now released the 3.14 ROM) so I did get an update this time, again came back working. Even better this time as the new radio version allowed me to run an SD Android Build.
You know where this is going, lasted 3 or 4 weeks, same again, Back to T-Mobile Store, this time I did not try a hard reset prior to taking it in, so they could see the fault, I did one reset in store and the fault persisted as it always did after the first two or three, and then off to the repair centre again.
Its due back in the next day or two, No Fault Found!!! Firmware updated
I guess it will be going back again a 3 to 5 weeks.
Perhaps I should drop an e-mail to HTC to see if they can help.
Do you know what they did to yours, did they replace anything?
Cheers Bashy...
My display was soo broken that an firmware upgrade didnt help, not even for a second.
On the repair note (0eu) it said that my screen was replaced.
I had the same problems as in the OP.
Running beter then ever now.

No doubt, Tmobile attempts to be helpful. But, I consider HTC, as a manufacturer, to be well-prepared to deal with their own product's issues. If you have these problems repeatedly, I recommend you contact HTC directly. They may send you a new replacement instrument altogether. I had several positive surprises from HTC.
HTC No Longer Repairs HD2
I know this is an old thread, but I have an HD2 with a digitizer that quit working that I wanted fixed. I just called HTC and was told that they have not been able to find a proper way to fix the phone and that they would not be able to repair it even if I paid them. This came from the customer service manager. Both the service rep and I were left without words. He couldn't believe that this was the response as he has never heard of such a thing. HTC has taken the HD2 out of their repair database. Seems pretty sketchy to me. Obviously they know about the problem and it sounds like they should issue a recall on the product if it consistently breaks on people with normal use and they have no way of repairing it.
HD2 screen not working
They fixed mine on Feb 22, 2011 for free under a warranty. I suggest you do not give them the diagnosis of digitizer is not working. Instead, just tell them the problems you have and let them tell you what is wrong with the phone.
If is going to cost an arm and a leg to fix the phone or a 1 month of outage from cellphone, I recommend you get a new phone from Craigslist or eBay. HD2 are dirt cheap now. Good luck.
hd2 is dead

Yep - i'm not surprised. I purposely bought the HD2 to get dual boot setup. Lasted two months and then screen stopped responding when screen locked. Eventually could not unlock at all. I stripped the phone, put in new screen and digitiser and new keypad buttons and then flashed back to original rom too.
GUESS WHAT??? STILL BUSTED.
So you can try many fixes found online, but I reckon once it busted don't waste your money just bin it.
SAD

From what i've seen too, it is very difficult to actually repair the digitizer without causing new secondary problems. I paid my repair shop over 155 usd to repair an hd2 with usb and touchscreen problems and they just replaced the virtually the entire hd2 (mainboard+LCD+digitizer). And it still had problems in the end!

HTC mentioned that any illegal softwares found on the device would void the warranty.

hey dood, i had nand on my US tmoble HD2 touch screen went out, i have a few posts you should follow if you are going for warranty.
i had to download the software from the tmoble website..... You will need an IMEL number for this ...... or go and try to find your stock rom on the interwebs...... have a secondary SD card (not the one in your phone) follow the SPECIFIC steps and drop your new file on the new sd card and replace it with the one in your phone then follw normal booting steps in the tri color screen.,..... i do have a post that is a quck rundown with a little bit more info........ but the main thing is.... if you send it for warranty you have to put YOUR (country/carrier specific) stock rom on or they will fully charge you....... hope this helps....... other than that its a phone issue i belive its the screen digitizers.... so if not under warranty thats what it will cost to fix
Thank you
Thank you. that helped me as well.
