Hi All
Two quick questions...
1.) Is it possible using the Android SDK to register an application as a start-up application? So that it is loaded immediately as the OS loads?
2.) Is it possible to detect when the device has been disconnected from a power supply and power down the device, and then power up the device once the power supply has been switched back on?
P.S. We're planning on using Archos 70s running Android 2.2.
Thanks in advance.
Hi All,
Im still looking for an answer on the power side of things can any one help?
Kind Regards
Sam

Hi all. I just flashed the ROM on addictive.com for Honeycomb (I can't post a link, but if you google galaxy tab honeycomb upgrade you should see it).
I used Heimdall, and it indicated the ROM flash was successful. After it was done, the yellow download screen went away and the device powered down. Now I can't get it to power back up, and I just put it on the charger and can't even get a charging light.
I've tried holding the power button for a minute, and hold the home and/or down volume keys with the power button, no luck. I'm going to leave it on the charger for a good hour or two and try to get it to boot again.
Beyond that, any ideas on troubleshooting short of calling Samsung and having them look to see if they can repair? Did the flashing of the ROM hose it from a software standpoint, or did the flashing just happen to fry the hardware?
Any ideas are much appreciated - I've only had the device about a month ...
Any one knows?
Did it specify which sgt it was for, like gsm/cdma? You may have the wrong one

if android 2.2 is on it it's just an old rom were these things didn't work. just flash a new rom that is up to date.
and it is normal that it turns on if you plug it in because magldr isn't able to charge the phone when it's turned off so it turns the phone on that you don't run out of power.
how to check the version of rom?

settings-about phone(last choice in menu)-software information
Android version: 2.2
Baseband version: 15.42.50.11U_2.15.50.14
Kernel version: [email protected] #2
Build number: 2.29.405.5 CL293415 release-keys
Software number: 2.29.405.5
Browser version: WebKit 3.1
I think. There is only one way to try repair. Reflash to official rom. And after try android
according to the kernel it seems like this is one of the first nand roms. a lot happened since then. just read the guides about flashing magldr and cwm and then install a rom that is up to date.
I think i found the problem. The problem is flex cable Can you suggest which flex cable to buy from ebay?
APN data conection
I just finished installing Stock Desire rom on my Tmous, so far so good except for one mayor issue, at the apn screen i cannot configurate a new one, i read somewhere that the middle hard button (it would be the windous menu button) would promt a menu from which i can select "add a new APN", but it does not work, so i haven´t been able to configurate a data connection, wich means i´m wasting my data plan. Any solutions??
Thanks for the help!!!
did you install the old dft rom? if yes i would advise you to update to a new rom. lot of things worked there but the new roms are much faster and more stable and you don't have to install a better kernel and gps libs with working agps on your own.
and yes, the apn option should be there when pressing the middle button.
It's hard to instal a new rom over 2.2? Which method i can use to install new android 2.3 or 2.3.4?
Sorry for my bad english and thank you for your help
Hello all,
i have a very big problem to be solved. I know it has been discussed but i'm still unvailable to fix it. The problem is that i have magldr installed but my vol down button presses call button at the same time and vol up button presses home button at the same time, so i con not go back to windows mobile bootloader. Is there any way to force it from pc? It can be as difficult as possible i don't care i will handle it but i need to get back to windows mobile bootloader. So please guys help!
Another question is much simpler - when installing windows phone 7 to hd2 is it a must to enable 24mb + from services menu or it has no big difference? Because if it's not that important and without enabling it windows phone 7 would work fine - then i'm happy with that, because i am able to get to 5th menu in magldr 1 time from 50 tries but get to services (which is 8) and enable those additional mb(which are 5) is imposible without normally working volume buttons.
Sorry for bad english and please help me guys i know there is some way to fix my issues
hmm..

i guess you should connect your turned off phone to the usb port and just keep presses the VOL DOWN..its gonna turn on by itself. In the RGB screen try to flash a winmo ROM..i think it will work..try that and let me know..

no it does not, the phone understands input as vol down + call pause vol down + call pause etc so i'm unable to get to the bootloader. But i managed to install windows phone 7 so it works as a charm now and everything is ok, again thanks to XDA members! the thread can be deleted
Hi guys,
I got some really annoying problems with my HD2 and can't find a solution for it.
My power button on the HD2 isn't working as intended.
If I power off the phone, I can boot it sometimes up using the power button, sometimes it doesn't respond to pressing it at all.
If I connect the phone to the computer or notebook it instantly powers up on it's own. same goes for the charger.
The strange thing is .. if the phone starts on its own (by being connected to the charger or computer) the power button is working flawlessly afterwards. Sometimes the button is working as intended, but suddenly stops working while trying to end a call or whatever.
I've currently installed Android on it .. I don't know if it's hardware or software related .... but it really drives me up the wall.
Maybe some of you are able to help me out
Best regards

Probably your END CALL/Power button is slowly dying(metaphorically speaking).
Being on Android(probably on Magldr) it's normal for your phone to start/boot up everytime is off and you plug it in(USB or charger).
IMO you should replace your hardware buttons flex or just leave it this way and avoid to use it.
Replacing it is not an easy job, I wouldn't recommend it to DIY unles you have a relevant experience on stuff like this or a very native skilled&lucky person!
Good luck!
thanks for the response.
I can't change the hardware buttons 'coz I already replaced the display and digitizer.
If I have to open the HD2 again the digitizer will separate from the display ....
too bad seems I have to bear with it
It's still hard to believe the power button is dying 'coz after the phone is automatically turned on by being plugged to a computer or the charger the button is working flawlessly.
and there are only a few seconds between it.
seems the phone has a problem recognizing the power on command if it's turned off

possible but still possible button board ...
Maybe worth trying other kernels & roms to rule out firmware issues ...
I'm trying a different battery now.
searched the internet and found someone with similar problems.
he fixed it by replacing the battery.
i'll give it a shot
edit: other battery doesn't change anything. I'll keep trying

Hey all! I work in a tech repair shop and im having a hell of a time with this lenovo thinkpad we got in. the customers child set the lock screen and then forgot what it was, they want it to be factory reset BUT the lenovo doesnt ship with a compatible USB cord, only a wall plug. i have tried using power plus volume up button, power plus volume down button, both volumes plus power (this puts me into a kind of recovery mode but nothing shows up on screen, its for flashing new roms im pretty sure, abx or adx mode or something like that) i just want to be able to reset this device. i have looked EVERYWHERE and i can find NO help whatsoever, i have tried EVERYTHING that i have found online (including powering it on and pressing the volume up key right as it vibrates, ive been trying this for about an hour and a half now with no luck.) i just wanna get this device out of the store asap because its starting to piss me off. thanks in advance for any help guys!
How did you make out? I am having the same issue with this tablet.
if you have usb debugging enabled and your computer whitelisted, you can get into recovery using adb commands
