Guys , where does your Desire HD made in ?
as for me mine is made in china , does it means mine is Imitation ?
Mine one made in Taiwan.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Yeah, on my box it says made in taiwan. It's likely that some components/accessories are made in china though, where did you see that?

What does that suppose to mean?! Anything made in China should be a fake? I admit there are counterfeit products in China but that isn't EVERYTHING from China. Genuine export goods made by genuine factories in China are actually better quality then the same product sold within China. I hope you are aware that more than 60% of all the stuff in all the shops in the whole world are manufactured in China, and they are GENUINE stuff from designer cloths to smartphones - why? Because it high quality with low cost. What do you think made all these hi tech toys and gadgets so affordable to almost everyone in the world? It's because they cost very little to make in China, and it is the factory workers are taking hit by being paid very little. You should thank them!

As far as I know, I'm not sure about the ones exported from Taiwan, but the DHD's sold within Taiwan are made with a different screen which is not as good as the ones made in China for the export orders in Europe (according to Mobile01).

I hear that the early models made in Germany also make toast. It may not be true, I'm not 100% sure.

As told in this Article/review the HD will be sold exclusively by O2 in Germany
http://www.xonio.com/artikel/HTC-Touch-HD-Business-Handy-Praxis-Test_32944215.html
Seems HTC is not only trying to copy Apple in the looks with this device.
All in all the review was very positive... excellent remarks on the improvements of the Touch 3D department...Only shortcommings where the extra costs of GPS software (which i think is positive as now people can decide on which software to buy themselves) and the msiing flash and low resolution video...

Does this mean that HTC itself will not sell the HD in Germany as an unbranded device? There are quite a few shops in Germany accepting pre orders for a German version of the Touch HD ... This seems to be a different approach than Apple Eifön or Google's G1.

Ok here is how it works:
Exclusive does not mean, that a carrier like O2 is the only one who is allowed to sell this device. It only means, that he will be the only one (at least for a given time) who is allowed to offer this as a branded device in combination with a contract or other offering.
So if you are searching for a new contract and want to get an HD with it, O2 will be the only one where you can get it in combination with a contract for a relative cheap price.
But ofcourse, you can buy an unbranded device everywhere and use it with every carrier you like. The same way as every other unbranded phone is sold.
Hope that helps,
Raz

USD240 is absolutely fake.
here brand new HD in China is around 527USD. just for reference.
JohnQ is right, I bought mine for around $550 US in Shenzhen about a week ago, $240 is probably either used or a "shanzhai" phone (aka rip off look-a-like).
A note however, do look closely at what you are buying as there aren't any "official" HTC retailers here in China-- where HTC operates under it's Chinese subsidary, "Dopod". Most of the HTC phones in China are brought across the border either from Hong Kong or Taiwan.
I had the store clerk bring me five Touch HDs to try and I picked the best one and haggled with them until they threw in an extra battery.
If you'd rather be sure to get the real thing, I recommend you get it from Hong Kong; it's pretty cheap there too. In China, Dopod also has an identical device also called the Touch HD, however, the difference-- like between all Dopod phones and HTC phones-- is that the Dopod versions don't include Wifi and 3G. Gov't restrictions maybe? :S

HAHA , DOPOD announced HD early this year. you know how much they are selling in the beginning? RMB8288, As exactly the same with its model number T8288, DOPOD is crazy. DOPOD HD doesn't include WIFI/3G
Can get it with 3G and Wifi in China
It is possible to get the Touch HD in here in China with 3G and Wifi....If you buy a Dopod branded phone, it won't have either, but if you go to a mobile store and ask for "shui huo" you can get them. The "shui huo" versions of the phones are usually brought in from Europe then brought across the border (tax free). Don't let the sales staff trick you into paying more for them. These phones are cheaper than the Dopod branded ones and they are exactly the same phone (with more features enabled). As mentioned above, you also have to be aware of fakes, but if you take your time and check out multiple vendors, you should be ok....Always ask to try the phone before you buy it (ALWAYS).
Additionally, it will be extremely difficult to find one with a WWE rom. I usually come on here and flash a WWE rom as soon as I get my phone...Never had a problem...
China has some great deals and some great rip-offs...Just exercise some caution and you should be fine. Test the phone and make sure the Wifi and 3G options work and you should be fine.
newer high-end mobile phones are ALWAYS cheaper in the US/EU than in china. IN fact, everything that is "name brand" or high-end is more expensive in China. THe idea that China is cheaper than the west is just totally wrong these days, when I go back to the USA I stock up on clothes, electronics, etc. as the quality is certain, there are no spy programs or disabled features, and the price is much lower. If you want to buy cheap garbage, it will be cheaper in China, but for anything nice it is MUCH more expensive.

That's not necessarily true...
HTC is a Taiwanese company and they export their products to places all over the world. One of them is Hong Kong, and as we all know, there are no taxes, customs, tariffs, or whatever on imported products there. Thus, electronics are generally cheaper in Hong Kong than they are elsewhere. Also, due to the proximity of Hong Kong and Taiwan, shipping is also cheaper than to the Americas for example, thus further reducing the end-user cost (however this may just be a little bit). Therefore, many of the "shui huo" HTC products brought into China from places like Hong Kong actually end up being cheaper (even more if you haggle and perhaps they'll throw in some goodies too!) than they are elsewhere.
Hope that sheds some light upon this issue.
So now now... don't go around making imperatives like "everything" all the time... hehe
This thread is really helpin me out.

Hey people,
An uncle is coming down from US to India (my current country) and I plan to buy the Omnia 7.
Should I ask him to buy one for me...but again, will I have to unlock it???
Does it come carrier specific like the iPhone?
Do I have to "Unlock" it?
Or should I just ask him to get the phone and pop in my SIM card from India?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
I'm pretty sure the Omnia 7 isn't sold in the US. They have the Focus instead.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
Yes, it's not sold in the US or Canada. But he can order one from ExpanSys (who gets them from Europe).
I picked a few up from Canada before I headed to Saudi Arabia. Work like a charm. Just gotta remember there's tax, warranty, customs, shipping. Not much profit made for reselling them Manuals also came in french, but that's not a big deal if you know how to use these things.

Hello...
As Peew971 said: Omnia 7 isn't sold in USA by default, and ExpanSys actually have a very high prices, I got mine from Australia, factory unlocked and shipped to Libya (cost me about 840$ at that time, with Screen Protector + Case + Shipping Insurance), I've checked the website now (becextech.com.au) and it is priced at 699 AUD$ (= 687 US$) without shipping costs.
I hope I've helped you...

Hi Guys,
After I have ordered an UK version from handtec. I have ordered another one today on the German ebay for 480 Euro including free postage....
So now I will have two next week....the decision is which version to keep and which to sell.
I have heard on the forums that EU ones are made in China and have screen problems?
Thanks
I have a EU model and I have never heard of this screen problem. Mine looks perfect.

Why would Samsung build the handsets at different locations for different regions? This does not make sense. Also why would there be quality issues just because its build elsewhere? As far as I know all Samsung handsets are build in China!

480 Euros is cheap! Wow... was it difficult ordering from ebay germany?
edit: you probably ordered via ebay Australia from a seller in germany right?
Ordered the Note from Amazon Germany which will be delivered to the UK in around two days time. Cost £481 including delivery, which is nicely below Clove's £602 or even handtec's £548. Ordered lots of items from Germany in the past. Don't think it's a real issue these days. It's as cheap to send things to somewhere in the EU as it is to somewhere else in the UK.

nuh...went onto the German eBay site...and offered a few sellers the price and eventually one agreed. paid by paypal, said will post by DHL on Monday. so will find out tomorrow.
A lot of the cheaper price ones on German ebay are the ones bought from Saturn...must be people who went out for that CHEAP deal
Can you people check and see where your phone is made, i found a htc hd2 i want to buy but it says it is made in china. Will this affect the ablity to install android and wp7 on it? i ask this as it is normally made in taiwan
I just check 3 of my HD2's all are made in Taiwan, i guess it won't matter if it's made in china if all the specs are the same. give it a shot & let us know.
actually most HD2 are made in taiwan
so is no need to check. as i know there's no fabric of HD2 in china to see
there have been several instances of people buying cheap 'bargain' fakes from china. i'd be very wary, since you dont know if the hardware is identical, and theres a good chance flashing wont work, especially the hspl stuff, and then drivers in any particular rom may not be correct for the hardware even if it did flash.

have you seen the sticker on the inside of the phone?
BTW Taiwan is a republic of China
Both my t-mobile hd2's were made in China. Both of them I bought within USA and one of them came with the original box and it also says made in China on them so no, it does not affect the quality of the phone and it being "made in China" does not mean it is a fake.
Both of them work fine and were my dev phones..
Both of mine say China as well and one of them is a replacement phone shipped direct from HTC repair.
Also running Android without any problem.

Not strictly correct, Taiwan IS the republic of China (ROC) not a republic of China or I should say was the ROC since they were brutally cut down and fled to Taiwan after WW2, however, most countries quite happily treat Taiwan as its own independent state, and if you look at the political and social situation on the island you can clearly see that they are doing very well for them selves, and are ranked very highly in terms of freedom of speech, health and education.
China is the Peoples republic of China (PRC) which is widely recognised as the legal ruling body of mainland china. The hypocrisy is that whilst we all think Taiwan is independent we cant say so formally otherwise the PRC has vowed to take the island by force and cut off all diplomatic relations with that country… its all very confusing!
back on topic... there was a case not long ago where someone had a HD2 clone made in china, but the devices them selves can be made anywhere now, so its not really a problem unless you have political reasons NOT to buy from china
