hy, i just got an samsung galaxy s a few days ago.when i connect it to pc KIES finds a new firware( it's still runing 2.1 update 1),after i press START,i get an error: firmware update has stopped working... cand anyone help? thx in advance

More background please:
OS?, Kies version?, are you using the stock USB cable?....etc.
The os is the stock sgs firmware 2.1update 1,i am not using the stock usb cable it's an xperia x10cable,it's that a problem?
Cable wrong also turn off firewall .

I tried with an original cable and still doesn't work.i run on win7 32 bit and the latest version of kies
I also have similar error.
I even reset my device to factory setting, and when I connect, Kies prompts to update the device firmware(as following), however - when I click update, it throws the error "FirmwareUpdate has stopped working"
Current firmware version: PDA:JG4 / PHONE:JG4 / CSC:JG4

I reset my device to factory settings - so definitely not rooted any more.
Kies is able to detect the device and suggest the firmware upgrade - only to crash thereafter.
In fact I am able to do everything else - sync, browse etc.
can be something wrong with the pc?i can't understand why is happening this
Fairly common problem with multiple posts on the subject probably even a FAQ .
Seems to be many different reasons why Kies fails for some .

Which version of Kies are you using? Try getting the latest version and run Kies as Administrator.
yeah same problem with me , My phone is i9003 newly purchased and i installed kies new version, I connected my phone it showing new upgrade and i accept that ... it says downloading please wait, once everything done it shows me error
my os is windows 7 64 bit
kies version is 2.0011014_49
i tried all kind of stuff,runding in admin,latest version,compatibility mide tc, nothing works... i really don't get it...

i tried this solution too,now it's stops somewhere at collecting update parts or something like that,but the program really stops, i also get that error: firmware update has stopped working...
Phone supplier or service centre is where i would go .

i also had the same problem. i tried on 3 diff laptops but same thing. but jst keep on trying...i think after 30-40 tries..luck was on my side...and it worked.

I am from india and trying to install latest firmware upgrade for Note through Kies.
I have lates Kies 2 and it shows me that firmware upgrade is available but whenever i try to download it, error message pops out that 'FirmwareUpdate has stopped working' !
I have windows 7, tried multiple times, updated windows, reinstalled kies.... but no effect.
the error details says something like Cl20r3. I googled for that error but unable to get solution.
Anyone here came across this problem? does anyone know how to overcome this?

Having the same issue
where is linkd DUS?
New update for Kies and again the same issues. After installation the software is unable to detect the phone, although Windows do. I really don't want to blame developers inside Samsung, but it seems to me, that they don't pay much attention for this software.
underline: Kies seems to be the only software I know, that can't use the Windows 7 resize feature (windows key + any arrow). This is really ridiculous considering fact, that Win 7 are on the market for more than year.

Yesterday when I opened Kies, it shows there is one update. I tried to upgrade with Kies itself. But failed. so I downloaded it from Samsung website and installed it, automatically it uninstalled my previous version. But now I'm facing a problem. Kies is not starting. One time it started, and shown windows encountered an error. until now Kies is not opening, I'm using windows 7.
I tried to uninstall it and re install the old version, but still it is not opening. what to do?
Kies version installed is 2.2.0.12014_18_8

Kies keeps telling me there's an update and downloads and installs it but when it restarts it hasn't actually installed it and guess what there's an update available grrrrr

best option would be to remove kies completely from your system.also remove your samsung drivers from add/remove programs.once you've done that install ccleaner http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/builds to clean your registry of any remaining bits and bobs.then re-install kies hopefully that should help.
For me the Kies update has done something strange but very useful
Last week I put the UK 3 mobile version of ICS onto my unbranded GS2 and before the Kies update I got the usual message that firmware cannot be updated via Kies.
Now, with this updated Kies it's happy to check the firmware of my GS2 (Telling me I'm on the latest version), even though I'm using a different brand of firmware than was originally on the phone (Was XEU, now H3G)

Same pb here, keeping update without any sucess
Reinstalled drivers via Kies, rebooted PC and it is worse than before...
So whenever ICS rolls out (said to be in few days), I will be maybe unable to update.... great

This software is crap.
Keys Update ver 2.3.0.12035_16 date 5th Apr 2012
Kies tried to update and then once again. First time it did not update. And it started again. And once again! But it stayed back with 2.1.11124_17. Wondering where the downloads went! Please let me know if Kies update to ver 2.3.0.12035_16 worked with anyone.

Hey.
I got a notification to update my device this morning so I connected it to WiFi and let it download.
It was very slow for some reason and at about half of the download I had to go, I left the WiFi range and it stopped the download with a message something like that "cant connect to the server please try again", so i tried again and it said that I have the latest update already installed.
Then i tried with KIES, it found a firmware update but failed to actually start the update after the download.
so now i have 4.2.2 and OTA says that the latest update already installed.
I have tried to clear cache, delete all in google service framwork, revert updates for all google stuff, nothing so far
Last thing i want now is to flash it, can I do something to fix this?
The device is Galaxy S4 GT-I9500, stock rom not rooted

I got an issue, I'm desesperatly trying to update my phone through Kies to Lolipop as the update as been released to Taiwan's phones... But when I plug my phone, it gets detected, notify me that there's an update available... i do all the process but nothing happens at all... Someone else got this issue? It's kinda annoying!
Here's some screens, after the latest screen, who tells me have at least 3Go of free space in order to proceed for the update and unplug external memory to continue... I tried everything and it never goes further!
I don't know what to do, I don't want to update it through Odin, is there any solutions??
