My vibrant took on a g2 in speed test and blew it away

Yesterday my wifes friend got a g2 .I took a look at it and was like this is cool , then I started using it. I didn't know that a g2 had almost as much, if not more lag than a stock vibrant .nerov3 put that g2 to shame. The owner of said g2 was like why is my phone so slow? I was like its a combo of it being slow, and mine being super fast she went to t mobile today and got a vibrant!!! stating the only thing she will miss is the flash camera. now ive got to mod her phone thank goodness for xda and tw !!

haha cool story, now she can be.. PART OF THE GANG.
I did the. Same thing with the guys at work my vibrant running auxora 2. 2 we tried a LG optimis. A droid x and an evo. My vibrant won loaded and played YouTube videos faster opened random apps faster just fooling around but my vibrant was fastest
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
My friends Evo beat mine at playing youtube videos by a split milla-second.
Besides that vibrant tied up with a Droid X
She'll thank you even more when the hinge of the g2 becomes loose after a month
That's funny. I guess that's what happens when you head over to the vibrant forums...

I thought the G2 is better phone since the processor is better... I mean stock g2 is not better than Vibrant but once rooted g2 is better

Incorrect.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
I've held my sisters g2 and my cousins verizon droid 2 next to my rooted and lagfixed vibrant to compare speeds. My vibrant would load pages just as fast and most times faster than both. Then I compared the speeds of those other 2 phones to my wifes stock vibrant and got the same results. I would run the speed test app on the g2 and my vibrant at the same time and the g2 would score the higher number every time. You would think it being an hspa+ phone it would be quicker with the web browsing but it is just not the case. Those phones are nice phones as well and i wouldn't mind having them, but there is some misinformation going around the interwebs, especially when they start using tests like quadrant standard and the speed test app to measure performance. When it comes to real world use, the vibrant is just as good.

Probably because 2.2 is optimized for the Snapdragon, while we have the hummingbird. However, 2.3 fixes all that and hummingbird is superior to snapdragon in 2.3

Mobile Web benchmark

The newest Qualcomm mobile web bench Vellamo, I'd say something new to try, I got 640 on 1.8.3 (froyo)
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
I got 945 on my Galaxy Tab 10.1
Got 722 in GB
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
This benchmark is crap and inaccurate.
Just stick to sunspider and browsermark.
I got 610 on 1.8.3. Its shame that samsung's tab carries the same core and ram, and still navigates much, much better, even if you disconsider this benchmark.

Have you ever used an GS2 and an Atrix side by side? I love our phone man, but there's a reason why the GS2 is 20% more expensive on some countries than the Atrix with it's packed-to-full box and the lapdock together.

Go to the specific sunspider javascript test with it, which you can score 2200-4000 ms, meanwhile HTC sensation does 6000ms. Lower is better, btw.
The benchmark will still give you a lower score for it compared to the sensation.
So if all these phones are beating Atrix in sunspider/javascript they should be getting scores in the 1000-3000ms easily right......LOL
Great job Qualcomm, you are beyond a joke again. Trying to make your little turds Evo3d/Sensation look a little less pathetic when they get crushed in real web benchmarks.

Why We're Getting No Gingerbread For a While..

Ok guys I think I have figured out why the Samsung Vibrant has been getting no support in terms of updates from anyone including samfirmware.com! If you think about it all other Galaxy S phones and the Galaxy S 4G (Or Vibrant 4G) has had lots of leaks and even ETA's for updates except our Vibrant. Why? Simple. T-Mobile is doing what they tried to do for Froyo! There going to bring updates and bugfixes to the Vibrant 4G first alongside the other Galaxy S devices and use it as another justification to purchase that phone, then a couple months later or perhaps not at all the OG Vibrant might get some bug fixes and a Gingerbread update!
Please reply what you guys think on either this post or your theory on why the last leak we got was KB5 back in Feburary.

I don't know but i read something today that said google stepped in and now is sending updates to all phones on ATT which means folks who had older phones will get upgraded as well.. here is the article - http://socialbarrel.com/google-delivers-android-2-3-gingerbread-to-att-devices/11881/
I hope they do the same for T-mobile and help customers like us with samsung (vibrant and behold ) users alike..

i wish one of the dev can port the vibrant 4g 2.3 or 2.4 Rom to the vibrant i have been using the vibrant 4g with 2.3 and it is not bad at all it work real good better than most of the 2.3 or 2.4 Rom out there.

No, 2.1 to 2.2 optimized snapdragon cpus. Hummingbird got hardly any jump. Gb fixed that.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
+1 to hummingbird optimization.
TW4/4.5 also runs smoother on GB than Froyo (4/4.5 is a HUGE plus over the stock TW)
Some apps also required 2.3 (such as Netflix before they updated it to allow froyo)
CRT
probably more than I can't think off my head right now
edit: heres a pretty good comprehensive list and description
http://developer.android.com/sdk/android-2.3-highlights.html
we will reap the full benefits once we get an official 2.3 release (accompanied with source) so our talented devs optimize 2.3 for us.

I was tired of my vibrants jumpy inconsistent gps so got myself a Galaxy S 4G and installed the latest KG4 GB. The stock GB runs smoother than Cynogenmod for vibrant.
GB may be a minor upgrade but its a major upgrade for us due to hummingbird optimizations. Also the battery life is MUCH better on GB.
TouchWiz speed only matters for those who choose to use it
I use GO Launcher EX and love it.
Free, fast, beautiful, and more features than TW.

My result with CM9 v2.1, T132-ICS-CM9 Kernel and CPU set to 200-1000 MHz, ondemand: 2257.
Of course the NS can't mess with an GN, but i'm still impressed how much performance you can gain with custom-roms and -kernels.
I'm running gingerbread deck and the matrix kernel with an overclock to 1.2...(not live oc) and got a score of sound 2966. Hopefully the official 4G build gets ics performance up a little more. I find it hard to believe my device on GB out preforms a galaxy nexus by so much...
Lol nice update like how they slapped a galaxy tab score with io hack at top to make this crap look legit.
At least now you can distinguish actual hardware scores from IO.and supports dualcore.
about the only legit thing to go by in this benchmark is the CPU
