Hello,
For the third time in one month, my G1 device hangs on the boot screen.
I've send the phone to tmobile two times and they fixed it.
When it comes back, it has firmware 1.5 CRB43.
But now the problem:
After a while, the phone comes up with an notice that a download is ready
(1.6), i choose install, the phone reboots a few times and then gets stuck on the boot screen. I don't know how to fix this or what is causing this problem.
I never rooted the phone, just using the official OTA updates.
I just don't understand why the official OTA 1.6 update is causing this to my official Tmobile G1 phone (bought in the shop).
Anybody who has an idea to get my phone to work again?
I can acces the recovery mode, but reset doesn't fix the problem.
You would have been better off getting cyan rom if you have root, since ota 1.6 is laggy like hell.

try manually flashing the OTA. you can download the update from here
http://getyourdroidon.com/builds/ota/signed-kila-DRC83-from-CRC1.c41b93c1.zip
rename it to update.zip and place it on the root of your SDcard
boot up your phone holding Home+Power
Press Alt+L
Press Alt+S
(it should say something about updating)
your phone should reboot automatically
pm if you need anymore help/clarification
@B-man007,
Okay, i've tried the file you said.
It says (in this order):
Finding update package
Opening update package
Verifying update package
Installing update
Installation aborted
So it doesn't install that file, really quick after the installing update the screen flashes and it says installation aborted.
I have an dutch (european) phone, your file looks like an usa update.
I also tried an EU version, but it gives the same error.
The problem is, i don't know which firmware version is on the phone right now.. I guess something between CRB43 and DRC92. Or maybe it has no firmware at all because it just hangs on the opening screen.
@Ace42, i don't have root, never had. Just using official OTA updates.

goto unlockr which is here for root.

I've tried that website, but it's not working in my case.
Trying to install the original SPL gives an error (no signature files found).
I also can't install the Original DreaIMG.nbh file, it keeps saying:
00028002 not allow in bootloader.
After spending the last two evenings and most of Saturday trying to flash and root my phone I somehow managed to get it caught in a loop that I couldn't get to stop. Over and over it was flashing the green SE logo and a purplish space looking design.
In flash mood I updated the phone through the SEUS and when I rebooted it I ended up with version 2.1 update1 and build #2.0A.0.504.
I'm in the U.S. with an AT&T x10a. While it still shows X10a as the model number all the AT&T branding and bloatware is gone.
Any thoughts on exactly what I did would be appreciated. Thanks.
Are you able to boot up and use the device or is it still stuck in the boot screen loop?
If it is, open SEUS on your PC and try to update the phone. It will most likely state you have the latest software. Next choose install anyway and this will download and re-install the firmware and your device should be repaired.
No, the phone is working perfectly. Curious as to why it would let me do that with an AT&T branded phone?? It wiped all the AT&T stuff off.
First up I'd like to point out that I'm fairly happy with what's going on. I've put more custom images on my Hero than you can shake a stick at
That being said I cannot for the life of me get my Streak to take a new image. I'm praying that someone can figure out what I've screwed up and point me in the right direction :/
A couple of days ago I successfully installed Steve's 1.1.1. I immediately upgraded that to 1.2.0 with the amss update too. At this point my Streak stopped booting, getting stuck at the Dell Logo :/ I've tried for the past couple of days to fix my situation, trying just about everything I can find on the site but nothing got me booting again.
So I went back to the 1.6 nandroid backup I'd made
However now when the Streak boots into 1.6 I have a couple of issues:
1) The Home and Menu icons flash/alternate occasionally.
2) I'm getting No Service AND my baseband is reported as unknown :/
The full details 1.6 reports are:
Baseband Version: Unknown
Kernel version: 2.6.29-perf
OEM version: GAUSB1A110700
Build number: 4399
As the Official 2.2 has been released I thought I'd try that. So following the guide I've applied it via fastboot but this just will not work either. I've tried 4 or 5 times now and after 15mins of sitting at the Dell logo I conclude it's failed.
Can anyone suggest anything I can try ? I'm guessing I've somehow screwed the combination of baseband and system image but I'm lost as to what I need to straighten it out :/
Ok, well after trying to recover what feels like a thousand different ways. I've managed to get an O2 1.6 image on, with an identifiable baseband version. I did this following the guide on modaco
So now I'm going to try for 2.2 again.
Hi, I updated my friend's rogers Streak to official 2.2 O2. I followed the same route I did to my own streak o2 1.6 - o2 2.1, then I stuck and couldn't go further since all recoveries gave me FOTA error when I tried to flash 318 official build. I tried all available clockwork and streakmod recoveries without any success. Every time I was getting the same screen as with stock recovery. I had exactly the same problems with my streak but that time I was able to flash 3 files from official untouched rom through the fastboot. Unfortunately those files amss-system-boot.zip are not available any more I had to find another way.
I connected to the wifi and updated to the official o2 2.2 via system update in phone settings. Everything seemed to be fine but then the phone started reboot when you turn on 3g and trying to use data or after 30 min browsing via wifi. And it keeps rebooting until you take out the battery. If I use it as a phone it works perfectly without any reboots.
I tried again to install 318 update with 309 recovery img, tried to go back to o2 2.1 with proper recovery but every time there was the same error - e: error in sd card update.pkg.dec status 2.
Could you guys give me any idea how can I make this thing work?
Can I use QDL tool from my current rom or I need to go back to att 1.6?
Is it possible to extract files from update.pkg to flash it via fastboot or maybe somebody still have the original files from untouched rom amss-system-boot.zip and can re-upload them.
Any help would be highly appreciated
found 'em here:

good luck.
Alright....
So I've gotten a new phone, and I intend on selling my AT&T GS5. Only problem with it is that it will not update. I had rooted it awhile back, I can't remember how I did (something rain comes to mind when I to remember). Anyways, I've factory reset it, and tried to load a complete stock rom onto it. It still won't update.... When I download the OTA update, it will begin to install and then at 28% it will say "Update failed" and then reboot the phone. Any help?
Model: SAMSUNG-SM-G900A
Android version: 4.4.2
Kernel Version 3.4.0-2178781
Build Number: KOT49H.G900AUCU2ANG3
As of right now the device is fully stock (freshly factory reset), even says "official".
Let me know what you need, thanks.
Make sure that your Build Number and Baseband Version match (last 3 being NG3)
