It looks like a new version of the flash video (.flv) plugin for TCPMP was just recently released.
For those not in the know, it's a plugin designed to work with the great freeware media player TCPMP, that lets you play flash video files.
It is designed for Pocket PC 2003, Windows Mobile 5.0 and higher. The plugin will never support the commercial successor to TCPMP CorePlayer (licensing issues).
This version allows you to play flv files directly over the internet via the site http://www.mobytube.net/ which lets your search and play YouTube and Google Video files via a mobile browser such as Pocket Internet Explorer.
I tried it out and it works great.
1.) For ease of use you should make sure TCPMP is associated with .m3u files.
2.) Then just visit http://www.mobytube.net/ with Pocket Internet Explorer (or Opera Mobile or other web browser that lets you download/launch files).
3.) Search for a video, once you find one you want to play, click on the video to download/launch the .m3u in TCPMP.
4.) Depending on your settings in TCPMP you might have to click the play button to start streaming the video.
wow, thanks for full info. i used prev versions, and it is very good thing.
btw, works fine in 0.81.
How do you install this on a Mogul/PPC-6800/WM6 and which one do I download?
You should first have TCPMP installed, download the Windows Mobile version from here:
http://picard.exceed.hu/tcpmp/test/
Also, download/install any additional plugins you would like, though they're not required for playing back the flash videos.
Then download tcpmpflvplugin-v0.4.zip from here:
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=196939&package_id=232906
Unzip and copy the files in inside the zip file into the folder (not in a subfolder under it) where you have TCPMP install on your PDA (on my device this folder is located in \Program Files\TCPMP).
Make sure TCPMP is associated with .m3u files by :
1.) Starting TCPMP
2.) Taping on the "Options" menu item
3.) Choosing the "Settings" menu item
4.) Tapping on the "Select Page" button (lower right)
5.) Selecting the "File Associations" menu item.
6.) Selecting/Checking "M3U playlist files (M3U)" from the list.
7.) And then finally tapping the "OK" button.
The plugin is corrupt
*edit* for some reason FireFox was downloading it incorrectly.
thanks for the heads up - 0.3 always worked well but went and upgrade to 0.4 anyway. cheers.

Is that Coreplayer 0.81 or is there a TCPMP 0.81? Latest TCPMP I found is 0.72RC
New release: tcpmpflvplugin-v0.4.2
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=196939
This plugin is just brilliant.
Warning : it COULD eventually induce a slight addictive usage of your PPC.
Great development, but only works for mobytube.net and .m3u files.
Can't play directly from youtube.
I'd love for this plugin to be made compatible with smartphones 2003SE (with TCPMP).
Can't understand why WM2003SE arn't supported?
Hi hi,
it seems that my Advantage is, whenever i try to play a mp3 song from my memory card will go to the options\Skins then shows searching for skins everytime, quite irritating as it does not just go to the player directly, i have transferred a new skin into the windows media player folder in program files and have transferred the old ones out to the memory card and it is still doing so.
Any tweak or any solution to it?
Sabadee My crup,
Not seen this before, what OS are you running WM5/6?
managed to solve it already, had to install a spb wmp player skin and that did the trick, am on WM5 thanks pal
Hi,
just for your understanding:
WMP does not save the last used skin on exit, if you change skin manually and move the default skin to another folder, WMP is asking you for a skin at startup. Installable skins are replacing the files in \windows folder, that's why they work properly. If you want to use your own skin permanently, you have to replace the files in \windows folder, like the installer does.
Best regards,

Got home, checked! I knew I couldn't be a geek like that. Archive contains all files, some of them are hidden and you need to set your OS to show hidden/system files.
Cheers!

I haven't met this issue before but try this:
Back-up everything in your skins folder to your PC, delete everything and put the files from the archive in that folder. It should work.

On your PC, go to folder options and check "Show hidden files and folders" and uncheck "Hide protected operating system files". Now you should be able to copy everything from your Trinity
Hi
I've seen the problem , sure it help some other guys
In fact I have installed Task manager before and I have customized the single Tap X for closing application and that was because the OK doesn't work , it was closing the setting instead of saving
Now I've set to Tap and hold X and it works fine

I've made my skins (only updated existing ons found here with my photos )
AlbumArt related
Thought I'd write a few lines regarding AlbumArt, for those who might have problems displaying them.
The easiest way of getting album art to display on you Windows Mobile Media Player is to copy them to your device through Windows Media Player, aka synchronize them.
Files and albums in your PC library have tags and if instructed so, Windows Media Player downloads automattically/manually the album information of these files. This consists of ID tags plus album art. There are four files Windows Media Player downloads as album art: AlbumArt_{xxx}_Large (usually 200x200 px.), AlbumArt_{xxx}_Small (usually 75x75 px.), AlbumArtSmall (usually 75x75 px.) and Folder (usually 200x200 px.). These files are set attribute hidden.
When you sync music files with Windows Media Player to your device, it automatically copies these files to you device and Windows Media Player Mobile displays them.
Now, if you do not wish, for some reason, to have Windows Media Player download this information for you or you have a custom CD cover you'd like to use, it is enough to create a Folder.jpg (200x200 px.) inside your album folder and it will display the album art.
If you wish to manually add albums to your Mobile Device and/or having problems with displaying the album art, you can follow the step described above to create a Folder.jpg with the album art and Windows Media Player Mobile will display it.
Here comes the tricky part. The 200x200 px. album art images are great to be handled by Windows Media Player but they appear jerky on Windows Media Player Mobile. That is because the latter uses another album art image size to display. 200x200 px. album art files will show up, jerky though, but if you'd like to have a neat look of the album art files on your mobile device, resize the images to 154x154 px. (this is the dimension this skin uses) and you will get a neat result like the one attached.
Hope you find this info usefull!
Cheers!
Thanks for sharing, but i don't know how to use it, thanks

Media Player Touch themed skin!
I've been using the available Touch skin for Windows Media Player (credits for that go to monoberlin) untill I have discovered that while playing videos, they were not displayed right.
So inspired by that theme I have built a skin that has the issue fixed.
Hope you like it!
Skin uses 144x144 px album art for best displaying results in portrait mode and 112x112 px in landscape mode.
Cheers!
P.S.: Feedback needed, as always!
Landscape Also PLEEASE !

Only Portrait for now but if there will be demand I'll make the Landscape too.

Videos display better in portrait mode because it allows larger overlay display. Anyway, I've made the landscape too and updated the archive.
Cheers!
2nd Media Player Touch themed skin!
Here's another one, this time built completely from scratch.
Fixes:
- New, slick, intuitive buttons;
- Smoother interface;
- Larger video overlay size;
- Larger album art display (159x159 px )
Projects:
- Landscape mode for this one is in production so just portrait for now;
Cheers!

Folks,
I have created a small MP3 playing application that I wanted to publish to the world. Key features are
- Native C code. No dependencies on .NET
- Tiny (just 37Kb, plus 440Kb of FMOD library. I can remove the FMOD library, but most GPSs dont have windows media player installed by default to handle MP3)
- Extremely skinnable, almost everything is configurable
I have tested this on my GPS (CE 4.2) and PDA (Hermes) and it works quite well.
Configuration
CEAudioPlayer saves its configuration in CEAudioPlayer.cfg in the same folder as the exe. This file contains the last open folder (to play the songs) and the name of the skin.
Skins
There are 3 sample skins attached in the archive. Im not good in graphics, so I would really appreciate people chipping in with their skins. In the absence of any skin, the application uses a spartan layout. Refer to Skin.txt for information on how to create skins
Startup
- On startup CEAudioPlayer looks for any MP3 files in the program's folder. Else it prompts you to select a folder. Once selected the config file is created and subsequent runs, it will automatically pickup that folder
ToDo
- Use minimal FMOD to handle only MP3 (current library can handle tons of formats)
- Use alternate library to play MP3 or compile with native MP3 processing code
- Equalizer
- Spectrum analyzer. Actually, I did implement it, was too slow on my GPS to be usable.
- Playlists
- Better navigation by Artist, Album etc.
Known Issues
- CEAudioPlayer uses FMOD sound system DLL to play the MP3. FMOD does not return the correct duration for VBR encoded files (it can, but that would slow down the loading)
- CEAudioPlayer is built for ARM CPUs only. I can build for other CPUs but dont have a device handy
Looking forward to your comments.

The UI is completely skin driven. The zip file includes 1 skin (various resolutions and orientations). Sample is here
hi, great article. thanks for the opportunity to learn even more.
Most today's GPS are 800x480 units. Can you provide an according skin?
For those that use the Audible.com player will have noticed there is no skin defined for 800x480 and so the player defaults to the smallest. This leaves you with the player in the top left and a corrupt screen unless you use one of the screen resizing utilities. All that is need is to increase the size on the JPG and add them to the skins INI file. Unfortunately Audible tech support don't seem to understand the difference between a Touch and a Touch Pro2 and keep quoting the wrong resolution. Anyway I've made the changes myself and they are attached. Copy the contents of the zip to your device's \Program Files\Audible\skins directory. Only the INI file will overwrite an existing file. I admit the landscape ones aren't as neat as the portrait ones as I couldn't match the gradient but you will usually be using this in portrait anyway.
Does anyone have a .cab file for audible? i want to be able to install the player from my phone microsd card instead of having to connect it to my pc to install it.
never mind i found a way to get the cab from the exe
Thank you! Great Job!
Thanks!
Seems to be a small bug with the time indicators, but I can live with it!
