Seems to do the trick for me! (so far anyways!)
had the same 100% cpu after OTA problem, tried almost everything im aware of (ending some tasks, reboots, unistalling apps) but nothing helped me,ended up with factory reseting twice and i got it solved for now.
been monitoring using system pannel and now its more stable.
No such issue for me with the update once everything completed syncing.

I just went into stock application manager, force stopped everything i wasnt interested in (sense, friendstream, facebook, stocks, etc). My cpu useage dropped from 100% to more typical 3 to 20% and has been fine since.
As i stopped so many applications i dont know which was the culprit.

Sorry for basic question but how do you get CPU use %?

ImmediateModeService
I have killed the "ImmediateModeService" and now the CPU time is normal.
Which app is this? Someone has a solution for this error? Because always when i restart my DHD the same error comes back.
You could try this:

for me there is no more problem with this setting. I think that by killing applications the problem will be repeat again

Me too! just went to settings - accounts and sync - htc sense - remove account.
CPU was back down to under 20%. Added htc sense again and still got nice low CPU usage.... sense still doesnt work to make the phone ring or find its location but happy that the phone works properly again.
Glad I got that sorted, thanks for the tip!!
It worked for me too. Thanks a lot gays.

I can confirm the 100% cpu problem has not returned for me. I suspect that the update did not take into account the current sync status variables. If your phone was in a certain sync state when the ota applied it got stuck in a loop. Force stopping clears all temporary variables so returns the phone to the environment in which htc tested the update. So...the problem should not teturn if u force stop the right app. Similarly a hard reset should do the trick.

a really strange thing happened to me....
i had to have a factory reset since the camera app just decided it didn't want to work properly. started with not playing back videos, then while recording videos it would just crash to home screen and in the end it just didn't start at all. lol
anyhow. i had the factory reset and everything went great. but i noticed that every app i had previously installed started coming up in the applications list. i only had to restore my contacts and the phone was just as before. even the wifi list was not cleared. i had every other wifi installed already..
another good thing that came out of this whole thing (well, the menu buttons still go off and on whenever they please...) is that the battery consumption is awesomely lower. i mean, i had to recharge the phone twice during the day, but now it stays on for about 24H even if i'm gaming on it for some time....
strange things....
oh, forgot to mention that it's a non rooted, stock rom carrier free phone
(i wish i could root it but it's all SO complicated and the risk of bricking it leaves me with stock apps like facebook/tweeter/stock market etc eating up the battery juice.... oh well)
sorry for the lengthy reply..
Cheers !!!
Yeah, your previously downloaded apps and some settings are stored in the cloud. If you don't want them back, during the initial setup, skip the Gmail account setup. Then open Gmail and add your account back. Your apps and settings should not be downloaded again.
The Apps and other things come back when syncing with your google Konto. Nice Feature BTW

Why not just kill those apps? Plus, so long as they aren't causing high battery drain it really doesn't matter. Some things like FB, GMaps, Email etc. just pop up randomly even when auto-sync is off, but normally they don't affect the phone much at all.
try Autorun killers
Try using autorun kill apps, i'm using "Autostarts" and it's good , it organizes apps by events so you can decide which periods you want to kill apps totally, like afterstartup, duringstartup, .... etc.
i killed google play, Maps and eMail and some apps that launch at startup and it works fine

A lot of things are going to start up by themselves, it depends what is set at start use an autostart profram to disable some. But even so, when you kill an app, it sometimes force starts again because well its supposed to. YOu have to go into that program and remove every background service from it in the settings menu if you can. Also some apps are placed in the "empty applications" OOM grouping.. Androids memory management is really hard to fully understand.. the apps in empty applications group are pretty pointless. They do nothing. No CPU usage. THere is a webpage which greatly explains what each group does and i dont remember where it is -.- sorry just google "Android OOM groupings explained" and it should get you some results
Thanks so much for the responses guys!appreciate it

Now that its awkward because if its onlt the FB app it should work by just clearing the apps cache but if you also did a full wipe and it still persists then I dont know mate sorry.

Go to settings, scroll down to accounts, tap on whatsapp. There you can turn off contacts synchronization, which is causing the wakelocks.
It will not interfere with your messages as this only sycs your contacts.
Do check once in a while if it stays of as with me it sometimes turns on automatically
Thanks for your help. I will try it

I'll give this a shot. I was shocked to see that Whatsapp was keeping my phone awake for more than 7 hours over the course of a day. Thanks.
I AM having this problem too. My auto sync is already offline and I still get a huge amount of wakelocks.
What else can I do?
after opening whatsapp..just go to settings->apps-> whtsapp.. and click force close.. u wil have no wakelocks
Try and find the previous apk.

Greenify will probably "kill" message notifications?
My problem went away after I installed the newest version off their website.
@clankfu,
Thanks, will try it. Seems that Play has 2.10.*** and the latest on their website is 2.11.***
Had this issue with website versions weeks and months ago. Might be that the bug came into the playstore version (although I don't have any issues right now)

I see this once in a while and it'd be good to understand WTF is going on. Why does it take a full 5 minute wakelock?
I'm not even sure if its the contacts sync because I clicked on Whatsapp in the Android Settings menu and it showed that the last sync was at 7pm last night. Yet this morning I had a 5-6 minute wakelock. I unchecked and rechecked and it completed the sync in a second or two.
download LLama or Tasker and you can create a task so that when you are backing out of whats app it will FC it for you. I do this with some system apps that stay open longer than I would like. Although its not the way Android may want it its what I do
