Download the appropriate Desire HD RUU from this forum with your PC, connect phone to PC and run the RUU. This will reset your phone to factory fresh state.

a really strange thing happened to me....
i had to have a factory reset since the camera app just decided it didn't want to work properly. started with not playing back videos, then while recording videos it would just crash to home screen and in the end it just didn't start at all. lol
anyhow. i had the factory reset and everything went great. but i noticed that every app i had previously installed started coming up in the applications list. i only had to restore my contacts and the phone was just as before. even the wifi list was not cleared. i had every other wifi installed already..
another good thing that came out of this whole thing (well, the menu buttons still go off and on whenever they please...) is that the battery consumption is awesomely lower. i mean, i had to recharge the phone twice during the day, but now it stays on for about 24H even if i'm gaming on it for some time....
strange things....
oh, forgot to mention that it's a non rooted, stock rom carrier free phone
(i wish i could root it but it's all SO complicated and the risk of bricking it leaves me with stock apps like facebook/tweeter/stock market etc eating up the battery juice.... oh well)
sorry for the lengthy reply..
Cheers !!!
Yeah, your previously downloaded apps and some settings are stored in the cloud. If you don't want them back, during the initial setup, skip the Gmail account setup. Then open Gmail and add your account back. Your apps and settings should not be downloaded again.
The Apps and other things come back when syncing with your google Konto. Nice Feature BTW

Ok, I see that froyo is finally available for o2 uk, so going to make the change tomorrow.
Will it completely reset my phone back to default? Just concerned I will lose contacts and photos etc. I know kies can backup contacts, but does it work?
Will I lose the installed apps?
After the phone has updated, would I be best resetting back to factory defaults?
If so how do you factory reset?
I just want to get the performance from my phone. And am happy starting back from scratch (as long as I don't lose my contacts)
All advice is welcome!

Seems to do the trick for me! (so far anyways!)
had the same 100% cpu after OTA problem, tried almost everything im aware of (ending some tasks, reboots, unistalling apps) but nothing helped me,ended up with factory reseting twice and i got it solved for now.
been monitoring using system pannel and now its more stable.
No such issue for me with the update once everything completed syncing.

Got this same problem now after update... constant 100% cpu usage, from watchtower it looks like its app called settings storage thats eating cpu time....
yeah for me it's com.android.providers.setings which is killing my battery.

Guess i'm lucky, killed my battery in 6 and half hours
I just went into stock application manager, force stopped everything i wasnt interested in (sense, friendstream, facebook, stocks, etc). My cpu useage dropped from 100% to more typical 3 to 20% and has been fine since.
As i stopped so many applications i dont know which was the culprit.

ImmediateModeService
I have killed the "ImmediateModeService" and now the CPU time is normal.
Which app is this? Someone has a solution for this error? Because always when i restart my DHD the same error comes back.
You could try this:

for me there is no more problem with this setting. I think that by killing applications the problem will be repeat again

Me too! just went to settings - accounts and sync - htc sense - remove account.
CPU was back down to under 20%. Added htc sense again and still got nice low CPU usage.... sense still doesnt work to make the phone ring or find its location but happy that the phone works properly again.
Glad I got that sorted, thanks for the tip!!
It worked for me too. Thanks a lot gays.

I can confirm the 100% cpu problem has not returned for me. I suspect that the update did not take into account the current sync status variables. If your phone was in a certain sync state when the ota applied it got stuck in a loop. Force stopping clears all temporary variables so returns the phone to the environment in which htc tested the update. So...the problem should not teturn if u force stop the right app. Similarly a hard reset should do the trick.

Hi,
I'm using the PPC-SHIFTPDA Gingerbread Build. At the beginning everything was alright but now I can't download apps from the market. It just says "Download is starting" .
Can anyone help me?
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
Solution: I hadn't enough space on the phone storage. Just move apps to the SD card.
Try this... go into Settings > Applications > Manage Applications and find 'Market'... clear the cache and data.
Toggle airplane mode on and off... then try downloading again.
Okay, I did as you said but it is still not downloading. Thanks for your help.
Got another idea?
Sent from my HTC HD2
This is a bit of a long shot...
Are you using wifi or 3G to download? If possible, try the other and see if you have the same issue.
For example, I cannot download from Market using the wifi network at my work (I too get the 'downloading' issue), however I can install apps just fine using 3G. My home wifi is always ok.
Very rarely I have had the same problem as you and it resolves itself after a while. It is as if there is a problem at Google's server end.
Another issue that I sometimes have when I install a fresh build is that i have to try and download using 3G before I am able to download using wifi.
I'm using wifi. It would be a bit too expensive for me if I use 3G. I'm just a poor student, getting not much pocket money .
I had three other builds before tested and that's the second time this happens. I solved it last time changing the build. But. I don't want to change the build.
P.S.: The whole time Google Talk wants to log in but it can't, 'cause I don't have a Talk account.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
OK, you could try this...
Can you try another wifi network? If not...
Backup your build and then hard reset the device from Android. Then try logging in to your Google account again and see if you can download from Market. I'm not sure what the cause of your problem is.
You can deactivate the Google Talk login problem by going to Accounts > Sync > Google > deselect the deisired sync options.
Okay did 2 hard resets but nothing changed. That's really weird...
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
Edit: I can't connect to other wifi
Sorry, I am lost now for a good suggestion. Whenever I have had a similar issue, one of the above has always worked for me.
Okay...
But thanks a lot for your help!!!!!!!

OK id like to make this a discussion page for the m6 rom by mur4ik
so far i only have one problem for such a beautifully presented and polished rom why does the camera still look like something off windows 95 ???? just saying
any bugs or bits or glitches etc etc please discuss them here as im sure at some point they will be brought to mur4iks attention
Rebooting and freezing at times i have a 16gig micro sd anyway to utilise this for ram?

Well as far as I have noticed , on 10% the phone just dies - no warning popup .
Second it freeze's a alot - A LOT . In M4 it wasn't an issue at all - it never happen'd to me , but in M5 it just freeze's not while im using it ( screen on ) but sometimes ( wich is very often ) it freeze's while screen is off - it doesn't turn on , but the phone itself is working and screen come's back when some1 call's me . I had this same issue in M2 .
But all in all GREAT update , I am very satisfied with the new battery life , also the speed increase is really significant and noticable , smooth and snapy .
If the bug's are fixed in next release we will be one step closer to having the perfect ROM . I personaly would like to see native DivX/Xvid , and wireless hardware altough i don't use it . With this done ROM is nearly perfect , best one out there .
M4urik GREAT WORK MATE - REALLY APRICIATED . If you would ever hapen to find yourself visiting Macedonia , i owe you a LOT of beer .
The Flash_all_no_wipe)(fastboot) ? i havnt a clue what that is , i can guess that it dosnt wipe anything but some1 else explain it to me?
Advantages or disadvantages or wipe vs not wipe?
What one should i pick?
Backup everything and wipe I found its just a cleaner faster install
Also has to be said mur4iks work is awesome and I agree once the bugs are fixed perfect rom just need to find all bugs address them and small improvements more clock settings etc
Also on PC you can use an SD card as like a ram booster or temp ram is there a way we can utilize our 16-32 gig SD cards to do the same and speed up our phone's??
I think this would also minimize crashing freezing etc as this usually happens when system memory is low
Sent from my GT540 using XDA App
Another bug if you search contacts in messaging it will freeze and you have to re boot
i have a problem with data2system. i installed the data2system version of this rom with recovery, and after i installed, i kept geting boot loops...its being looping for like 40min and still no change.
PLEASE HELP!! and also, can anyone send me an apk of the M5 version of livewallpaper picker.apk?? cos thats removed in data2system.
Quick question , think I know what it is just getting a second opinion, I factory data my m5 cleared cache etc, look at my phone memory, at 100mb came back 5hours later to a look its now at 92mb didn't install any apps or anything, ideas?

Steps 4 d2s-version:
-go to recovery - mounts & storage
-only format system & cache => do NOT make a full format
-backup & restore - restore -> your d2s-version

Don't come on this section much, I'm a captivate guy. But my daughter has a completely stock desire z on bells network.
What is happening with her phone is regularly she will have to do a reboot, or sometimes even a battery pull because she will add some songs, or pictures and sometimes even SMS messages and she knows they're there but they won't show until the reboot. In the case of gosms, she gets the notification icon on the display up top, and when she clicks it, the messaging app is empty, until the reboot?! The songs and pics are the same thing, she knows they're there, and they show, but not until a reboot. Hope i've given enough details. As I said, stock rom, everything. Thanks in advance.

It's probably an effect of a known bug with refreshing cache for files on SD card. Try running this instead of reboot:
