I manually installed 2.2 on my epic and the camera , media and ringer options do not work. Files are still there but get an error message. Anyone know why? Also is there a way to go back or un install the upgrade without losing my apps and stuff.
thanks in advance.
Please post questions in General section.
Have you manually removed the DRM apk's? If so, this causes audio problems. Hehe, I've typed this so many times, I should save it as an auto text. if this is your case, and you have questions about restoring, search this general forum... Or just ask here.

Im not sure what DRM apks are. I did not remove anything though. I also tried to re update it again and get an error. I also tried to install the DI18 file and it wont install either. So kind of stuck right now. All my media files are there they just wont open or work. Any thoughts?

Im having a problem with my mytouch 4G. I rooted my phone the other day and all was going well, then I decided to delete some of the factory apps that I dont ever use. well.. Im guessing I deleted an app or apk. file that I needed, because now I cant change themes, when I click on "themes" it just gives me this error "Unable to find an activity to handle this action" I was thinking it might have to do with the "my modes.apk" but im a noobie at all of this so im really not to sure and im looking for help from the big dawgs.. lol... Here are some steps I have already tried taking. I tried restoring it by doing a system reset, well after doing so I realized I didnt do a backup ugh!! So.. I found the factory rom and tried flashing it so that it would install the apps. or apk. files that im missing... I thought that would be the easiest solution, just to start fresh. When I started I re-downloaded the terminal emulator so I that I could flash the factory rom, but now it wont give me "su" permissions it says "permission denied" again nothing! and noticed I didnt have the Superuser permission app. so I downloaded it off the market thinking maybe it would help but its just black like its not detecting anything. why? that this point I tried dropping the rom zip into the root and booting in reboot mode, I noticed it said wrong img. and didnt do nothing. Am doing something wrong? Other then this my phone works like a champ. Thats why I am asking if anybody can send me the "My Modes apk. file from there my touch 4G. PLZ!!! HELP!!! if you know what the heck is wrong.....these are the apk. files I deleted.

Yes, the my modes app controls your themes in stock rom so you need it if you want to switch themes.
If you flashed the TMOUS rom to fix the missing apps problem, you unfortunately unrooted your phone. That's why superuser app isn't responding. There is a nandroid of a stock install which would have been better to use as it wouldn't have undone root. That's too late, it sounds. You need to re-root after flashing TMOUS rom. All should be ok after that.

no.. I was still rooted after I deleted but I have fixed my problem. I was being dumb and wasnt installing the right superuser app. lol, so after doing so I got super user permissions and just flashed the phone back to the factory rom. thanks for the suggestion anyway.
ok, have been unable to update to 4.1.57. Previously, rooted, webtop mod, deleted some att apps (weather and such, nothing crazy).
done so far. undid webtop app by copying 6 backup files to /system/apps. rebooted.
have usb connection set to none. debugging enabled.
i've even removed root! (superoneclick)
still i get the android exclamation point every time i try to update.
also, when i plug in an hdmi cable i no longer get ANY options, not for webtop OR media center
what else am i missing?!
Did you do any sort of Adeo/deodexing file system editing?

Just back up with titanium backup and flash back to a clean 1.26. The webtop mod might have left something behind even if you think you removed it.

i went to try and run the "restore missing apps +all system data" and it listed the "news and weather" apps i deleted along with
Dockprovider
mobile desktop
motorola dock service
all which i never deleted!
is this something i screwed up by not doing the webtop uninstall correctly?
also when i run the batch is says its finished almost instantly....except it didnt do anything! and when i find it in the list the "restore" option isnt there. i KNOW i backed them up too. it says 1 backup available but wont do it.
and no roms or deodoxing(dont even know what it means)
originally when i copied all those files into the system/apps folder it gave me the correct errors and i restarted by holding the power button. just like it says.
i recopied the files thinking maybe i did something wrong, nothing happened this time. i can locate the .apk files in the app folder. and they are all not installed. when i click it and select "install", it says "application not installed'
what am i missing?
also noticed platform lib client is uninstalled and wont install...dont know if related
now ive even tried using the webtopbackup files from the undo thread and putting those into the folder, but still they wont "install"
please help!!
I'm having the exact same problem. No luck yet. I think Im going to flash back to sbf.
I'm pretty certain it has to do with deleting apps from the system partition. Anyone know how to fix this? Reinstall apps?
Honestly, you should just save yourself the headache and SBF to 1.2.6, Then update to 1.5.7 from there. If you have anything important to back up, just do that first.
Ok ok. An I gibbs have to re install all my apps?

I remember something like if you use SBF, flash counter goes up and your warranty is voided, is this true?
I don't recall reading anything about that. The 1.2.6 flash is the official stock build that shipped with the AT&T version of the Atrix, so in the absolute worst case scenario, say you don't know anything about it. Ignorance is bliss after all. Also, since we do have the sbf as a recovery, warranty would only be necessary if something in the hardware were to go wrong.

Hey all. I have a Droid X that has been running with Launcher Pro Plus for the past few months.
I rooted my phone the other day and everything was going fine. I downloaded Titanium Backup, ShootMe, and then Metamorph.
I've been checking out droidpirate.com and downloaded a few different notification bar color schemes, which were working fine. Today I downloaded another and decided I wanted to change it, so I switched to a new one through Metamorph, applied it, and rebooted my phone. Upon restart it was still the same color as before, so I applied again and before I could restart it gave me an error message that the status/notification bar (not sure which it said at the time) had crashed.
I restarted it, and ever since then I've had no notification bar. I've tried reapplying the color schemes in Metamorph and restarting after, but nothing has changed.
I've gone to the Launcher Pro settings and toggled on and off the "hide notification bar" setting which hasn't changed anything. I've restored my backup in Titanium Backup and it is still the same. I'm not sure what else to do at this point.
What do you all suggest? It really sucks to not see my battery meter, time, etc. when I open my phone. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!
I don't know if this is best practice, but I would just re-sbf / reinstall rom.

Does that mean flashing the Droid X rom? I am new to all of this, so I'm sorry if these are stupid questions. And what guide would you recommend for going about doing this? Thanks!
Download RSD Lite and flash an SBF. There's a sticky telling you how to do this I'll subscribe to this thread in case you have any questions.
Great, thanks for the info! I'll give this a try tomorrow.
Wait!
Before you do that...
(Which is good advice, and would be my second choice...but you'll be without all of your applications and settings. This will put you on complete stock!)
http://www.chadhaney.com/droidXDefault/4.5.602/
Download the file that this theme was changing.
(system/framework/framework-res.apk I think?)
Download "Root Explorer" from the market...or a free alternative if you can get one to work.
I think "ES file explorer" works, but I've never tried it.
Check the "permissions" on the file you'll be replacing...and change the new file to have the same permissions (prior to moving, just to be safe).
Move and replace the new file into place.
If your phone didn't reboot during that process...
Double check the permissions again...
And reboot.
I knew it was only a matter of time, and that's a good resolve. Thanks for the alternative!

I'm not seeing that file on the website you mentioned. If I ctrl+f framework, all I see is a GoogleServicesFramework.apk file. Would it perhaps be the StatusWidget.apk from that list that I am looking for?
Status widget doesn't sound right, but I have never had to recover my notifications bar before.

Sorry man, at work...and can't check...but this should have it.
Or if you've purchased Rom Toolbox or Rom Manager...they have some .zips you can download via your phone and extract with your PC.
Ahh this is all confusing me. I can't find the framework-res.apk on that site either. Would it work to just hard reset my phone then download an app restore app? Then re-root it and restore everything to how it used to be with Titanium?
The framework-res.apk was an attempt to fix your phone without wiping your apps and all that fun stuff. A hard reset wouldn't fix the problem because the file, in theory, is still corrupted or not working. I would sbf your phone. It looks creepy but it's just resetting back to stock.

Go down to SBF: What is it, and what does it do?!?
If the files are offline because of the SOPAA thing, let me know.
Alright, looks like that's what I'm gonna try. Thanks to both of you for all the help, it is greatly appreciated . Before I go through with it I was just wondering, if I backup all my apps to my SD card with "App Backup and Restore" then reinstall the app after the backup, I'm guessing it should be able to reinstall my apps from the SD afterwards? (I wouldn't use Titanium to restore because I'm assuming that would restore my phone with the flawed system data I have now)
The apps themselves wont be flawed. The phone runs off a whole bunch of apk's. Just the apk that controls the notification bar was messed up. You should be fine with backing up your apps regardless of method. Use what program you're comfortable with.

Agreed...
But to reiterate...
Titanium won't bork you in any way.
Simply use the option>batch>restore USER apps option and you'll be %100 back to where you were...aside from having to change your settings back to where you had them...
Also...
Facebook and any "Overclocking" applications seem to behave badly when restored.
Not in a negative way...
But I always uninstall them after a restore and install manually through the market...
Facebook won't receive push notifications if you don't.
And Overclock apps simply may not work.
Everything else (game data...whatever) will be exactly as you had it.
Check my sig if you need...
And use the sections about backing up and restoring your data.
Ignore the actual rom flashing part...as it's irrelevant in your situation.
There is also another SBF link in there if the one Fluffy posted is dead.
So I downloaded the latest RSD lite with no problems, but whenever I try to download the "Droid X 4.5.602 SBF Gingerbread 2.3.3" file, it leads me to http://www.multiupload.com/57SX6Q5HJI which lists the file as 602.sbf.zip but downloads as a program called "iLivid", which is a video downloading program.
Any suggestions?
Different Mirror?

Figures, thanks a bunch. I tried the download links from two different forums and both led to that same program download, but it looks like I've got the right one downloading now. Thanks again for all the help, I'm going to try the whole restoration process this weekend when I have more time. I'll let you know how it goes.

So I am debloating an MF3 ROM and noticed one thing which I can't find an answer to.
There are three APK files which I am not sure what they do and wanted to know if anyone had any insight what they do and if they can be deleted.
KeyguardBackupRestore.apk
KeyguardWidget.apk
ELMAgent.apk
I've looked and noticed those files are on a few debloating lists, but I can't find what they actually do. I'd hate to delete them and find out they were more important that I suspected.
You can go into the APP manager in the phone and disable them. ELMAgent will auto restart after you stop it, but the Keyguard will stay OFF when you stop the process.
Any insight would be helpful. Thanks.
Just freeze them for now. You can always delete later on once you are positive there are no adverse affects, but it's not necessary

Have you made a nandroid? Before you started deleting things. Also try system app remover, it'll let you know what's safe and not safe.

Well I'm actually working with the ZIP archive of the MF3 firmware which is already rooted, so I can delete or add files and just reflash.
I find freezing apps a waste of time. If I know I don't need them, I delete them from the ROM files before I flash it in recovery. I don't make backups either since It only takes me about 15 minutes to re-download and reset up the phone after re-flashing.
So as it stands, I am working on trimming down a few more files before I reflash a new revision of the ROM I am working on, and I think those are the last 3 files I need an explanation on before I delete them,
Like I said, those files are on almost all the debloat lists that are floating around for the GS4, unfortunately they just don't say that those files are.
Thanks for the reply's guys.
So i installed the samsung s5 lockscreen, or at least attempted to, I never realized you needed to flash in recovery. First I backed my files up. Then with the zip all I did was copy the files down to system in EZ Explorer, when I found out that my settings.apk went missing and the home button didnt work(or the lockscreen) I tried to restore my files, I restart my phone but no change still no settings and home button doesnt interact at all. (Stock S4 with Root)
(Also I cannot install apps anymore) Any help greatly appreciated!
I think you can solve this by Android development bridge (adb). In a few words, this is a way you can modify your internal memory from your ?. So, you have to push all backup.
If you don't know how to use it, in this page there are a lot of helpful post.

Sorry the app creates a backup, or do I need to have a previously installed backup?
Messed up even further!
Guys I tried to factory reset hoping to fix the problem, but as the config window opens up, I'm flooded with errors. My question is should I just install a ROM and hope that fixes it, or just go to my provider and go by the warranty?(Root I used is towelroot, so it should be gone after FR, so the warranty should still be good.)
Found a fix!
I did what it says here, works perfect except for wifi(Other then that its great)
