T-Mobile AKU2 Update

Does anyone know when T-mobile UK are releasing there update ? I've been phoning T-mobile for the answer without any luck.
Almost everyone else has released the Update (Qtek / O2 etc.), but T-mobile still can't manage to release it.

I saw on the T-Mobile website a while ago that the next update was scheduled for March 2006. I guess that has come and gone now.
Anyone got the URL for the T-Mobile download page?

I emailed them for this info last week, and had a phone call from them informing me that they will be releasing it "next week" on their download site:

So that would be this week if they were being honest..

I'm still on Rom 1.3.2.2 (9/29/05) and was planning to spend this weekend trying out alternative ROMs but now I think it worth holding my breath a little longer for the official release.

Well, there not much time left for this week.
I'm considering using a XDA Mini S rom for the instant email. Does anyone know if this will work ?

Dell Service

I got the Streak delivered yesterday and it is really nice...reminds me a lot of the Archos 5IT but thinner still and made with better materials (in my view anyway).
My beef is with Dell itself as I ordered the Car Kit to go with it...£57odd...absolute rip off price but that is another matter.
I received an email from Dell saying they had my order and it would be delivered on or before 23rd August....7 weeks for delivery...that is crazy I never wait 7 weeks for ANYTHING. So I email back to cancel my order and tell them what I think of them and hey presto...an hour later I get a reply that says it will be delivered tomorrow (Wednesday 6th July). So it might be worth considering having a moan if you receive a similar lengthy wait.

Nice one will have a think about that did you order your streak from dell and was it the unlocked version if so was it unlocked, my delivery is the 21st i might just ring them up

No sorry the actual Streak I got from O2 on contract, it was the Car Kit I called Dell directly to moan about.

alot of us on modaco have had the same problems. cant seem to post a link because im a new member but go to the dell streak section and have a look. I've been emailing dell and Im finally getting a response. I even emailed Mr Dell

I also emailed SupereTrader and they said that they will arrive from the 6th to the 13th. So im hoping before the end of next week !

Was holding off with my order but have just ordered through clove.co.uk so hopefully will have my hands on this badboy next week!

Their website states the 11th Oct which is still better then Nov.

Yer im confused as to what to follow .... maybe 6th is the date but they are saying 11th just in case there is a lil delay

What difference does it make 6th or 11th life goes on, enjoy what you have and make a difference to someone.

I hope you do get it asap. But when I ordered the HTC HD2 from superetrader they advertised as in stock & immediate shipping 2 days before the actual release date. So I rang them & they said yep we have 3 in now for immediate shipping so I ordered & waited the next day & the next, so I rang them & they said that they hadn't had chance to pack it & post it. Another day went by & nothing, so i rang & same excuse.
3 days later when everyone else was shipping did I get mine.
I won't be using them again.
Hope u have no problems with them, I just don't believe a word they say.

SuperEtrader now quote an 11th October release date.
Shame, but I still keep finding new fun things to do with my HTC Desire, so maybe a little longer before I send it off to a new owner isn't too bad...

I went into Carphone Warehouse and Phones4U in Aberdeen today and neither had a clue when it would be in stock. One salesman suggested the end of November.
I accept there will be a delay between online and retail but even that seems a bit much.

I'm pinning my hopes on orange as I'm due for an upgrade now-ish. Hopefully they'll get their collective arse in gear and stock the HD before too long. However I feel I'm going to be waiting longer than I want to

Got told by Orange that its gonna be November time
Gutted as my upgrade is due now, so my beloved Hero will have to hold on a little longer

I really hope Orange get this phone. I'm due my upgrade in 6 weeks. I'm not that confident and I don't really want to switch networks and lose all my loyalty perks. Fingers and toes crossed.

My HERO is serving well with Elelinux V1.9 but it is time upgrade. The phone is starting to age very rapidly and I think it's slowly dying I can wait until november but I hope it doesn't slip.

Looks like you can now buy the DVP in the UK

Expansys seem to have the DVP on sale. Their expected shipment is 1 working day and they now take Paypal payments, which they do only when they have stock.

That's weird, when I spoke to a Dell customer service guy he said they weren't going to sell it unlocked first. Should've known that he didn't know what he was talkin' about.

it says estimated 1 day. they have not got stock and i doubt they will have stock tomorrow as dells own uk site does not list it.
ps. when i pre-ordered one from them in November they tock my money straight away and when i phoned them up about it they say it was a mistak and i had to wait 10 days to get my money back.
im going to wait till play.com or dell.co.uk have they in stock at i dont trust expansys ot clove.

In November I wanted to preorder and pay via Paypal and their rep told me the Paypal option wasn't for preoders and would only appear when they actually had stock. So maybe you can actually buy from them now... To be fair I was fed up and got the Omnia 7 but that could be of interest to some people.
Oh by the way, the last time I spoke to Dell UK they had no plans for selling the phone themselves.

I had emailed Clove only three days ago to ask when the phone was in stock and they said it was expected early this week. The situation is a complete farce.

Surprised you guys are still looking to get this phone considering all the issues and that you can get other devices in the UK that can be unlocked for any carrier.

clove said the 6th january and then changed it to week starting the 10th. the reason they do these dates is so you pre-order from them thinking you are going to get it earlier then if you do it with other sites but once you pre-order they tell you there is a delay and hope you dont cancel (clove had it on the 6th when every over site had the 11th).
exspansy tock my money from my debit card, i did not try the paypal option.
tomorrow is the 11th and play.com and exspansy should say in stock but bet they wont and then will delay it again.
as far as dell.co.uk selling it. i was under the assumtion that dell sells all there products from their website and would sell the DVP too like they have been selling the streak. i prefer to buy from play.com but they only listing the 8gb and i wont the 16gb model.
tomorrow i will see if any of them have it but at this rate i may have to look at getting another phone. with the mobile show in early feb there probably be a load of new handsets.
UPDATE: clove and exspansy have delayed it till mid feb. i guess i will have to see if any new handsets get released at the mobile show that takes my fancy, if not it will be arround mid feb by that point anyway.

i always get my phone sim free so i can get any handset but the hd7 and omina 7 i have seen and tried and i dont like the designs.

Given what's been happenning to our friends in the US I won't be rushing to get it !

The O/S is rock stable ... either that or Samsung have worked miracles! My Omnia 7 has crashed twice since i purchased it and I got it on release day. (To be fair, the ONLY thing that has crashed on it has been the marketplace app)
Its far more likely that Dell have screwed up the firmware or chip/mobo integration somehow.
Either way, i'm now out of the market for one of these. Sadly, its the only 4"+ device with a keyboard.... who nows.... maybe Feb will cure my problem?

Clove has been told today there will be no stock until 'mid february at the earliest' for 'microsoft issue on mms settings'. Given every other manufacturer has phones in europe with working mms capability, I cannot see how only dell needs an one month worth wp7 fix. Assume they have multiple issues and don't have a clue about when they will be able to fix them all.
Now, I'm not sure who, between me still waiting for this phone and Dell, needs more urgently a reality check.

To be fair, once you start using one daily you just see it as a Windows Phone and forget a bit about the design. Sure the DVP has something special but unless you really need a keyboard you can do worse than the HD7 and Omnia 7.
What I will probably miss the most about the DVP is the Gorilla Glass but I'm more than happy with the Omnia 7.

I think Expansys and Clove literally just pull these release dates out of thin air (in the same way that Amazon and Play basically invent release dates for some videogames and dvds, etc., even when they haven't been announced yet). They're clearly not in any sort of serious contact with Dell if, only one day before the phones are due to go on sale, they 'find out' that their delivery isn't going to arrive.
I too am going to have to consider the HTC Pro 7 now, much as I don't want to buy another HTC phone. Sigh...

i heard somewhere that the omnia 7 does not gorilla glass but it is not listed. not sure if this is true.
im going to wait till the mobile show in feb and then decide which phone to get.

i have a feeling that the way dell has set up the dvp is slightly different than how overs have done and as they are very close to microsoft i this microsoft was fix some things that did not work with the way they made the handset.
i could be wrong but seems strange that the release has been put back to mid feb when the os update is to be released.

I'm stil waiting. Mabye its better to solve the problems. Or els the DVP is going to be a new iphone . But what about the OS update how as Microshoft annouced for april? New languages? Like dutch. We wil see

A Feb. 1 release date of the update was just confirmed to me by a Best Buy employee and it also was in an employee newsletter! Woohoo!!!!!

KNOW JACK **** ABOUT ANY RELEASE DATES FOR UPDATES.
You can't even trust twitter updates from the companies either. You have three options..
1. Use QDL tool to go to Froyo now.
2. Sit and wait it out until it is released
3. Get another device that has froyo or later.
The worst part about streak owners not updating via QDL is that the software is NOT BETA... they are fully tested OEM unlocked roms!
When i was with the captivate, the cookers were hacking pieces together from 4-5 different froyo roms from different phones.. and it was still not as stable as the streak.

P. S. - Update on the update (2/2) - An AT&T rep was in the Best Buy store that I just visited. Another BB employee confirmed
yesterday (2/1) as the day the rollout started. Just then an AT&T rep walked into the store and the BB employee asked him "what's the story on the update for the Streak"? The AT&T rep verified that it was supposed to have started on 2/1 and he has not heard anything to the contrary.

Froyo Update not released on Feb 1 as I reported!
Crap!!! I spoke to Dell yesterday and they said the announcement about the Froyo update for
Feb 1 were wrong. They are still working on it!
Oh, well. I been snookered!

Oh give me a break. Att Rep, bestbuy employee bull****. It doesn't matter what they tell you. The have no clue about anything.

When I had my Streak warrantied out, (back in late november) they told me there was an update coming, I replied "I know there is, I'm already running froyo" lol, the rep didn't seem to care.
