Got the official email today, but I logged in yesterday and it let me it, so I selected "resend invitation email" and got it "early" I guess. I see why people love it so...

I love swype
Sent from my HTC Incredible

I've had it for a while and I keep it available because I got the invite. But, I find that I type just as fast and more accurate on the Droid X keyboard. That's my fav.
Wishing I could utilize Swype more because the reviews have been great.

I've had the official 2.15 Swype for two days. Gotta say, I love it even more. But, nit picking time lol. When I go into a text field, the keyboard is capitalized, then a second later goes to lower case. But when you type, the first letter is capitalized. Just some odd behavior. Overall, the updates an improvement.

That's what it's supposed to do, if you don't like the feature, then disable auto-capitalization.

No, its the fact that it goes to lowercase when I haven't even touched it. Its still capitalizing, which is good, but its just weird that it drops to lower case. No other version that I've used did that.

Yeah! Got my Swype Beta invite a couple days ago and I'm stoked! I signed up a few months ago so my patience paid off.

This is the first thing I'm typing with swype and I prefer the gingerbread keyboard lol this isn't very easy at all. It's kinda awkward. Ok I'm done trying to get the feel of this.
Edit I can see how its useful but I'm so used to typing normally and I type very fast so its easier for me to use a keyboard.

Not much for updates from 2.10 from what I can tell....only noticeable difference is that names from your contact list don't trump any other words you want to spell. Kinda nice, since I was getting a little annoyed of that. Does this beta test eventually end and the beta keyboard expires and no longer works, or will beta users be able to use this keyboard for good?

I was in the beta way back when the DInc came out, but since then I have changed email addresses and can no longer get back in. I put in for the next round of invites.
Is there a specific build for the DInc (returning my Droid X on Monday and getting the DInc again) and I have the .apk from the DX but didn't want to install if it wasn't any good.

My swype just quits working?!?! After a while anyway.

Gingerbread is here!

So...who wants to build the first 2.3 ROM? (Well...when the source code is released. )
that would be so exciting, gingerbread looks so refined. The keyboard screens I've seen look nearly identical to the iphone, and that is to date the best on-screen keyboard. I'm stoked.
Let's set the timer for htc, I wonder how long it will take them to push a sense version out? I hope to see the new sense from the desire and also a full bluetooth stack, im dreaming big but that's the reason for the season!
Come on guys!! I just came back to NY trusty ole dinc(from DC, fascinate) and can't wait. HTC Makes the most customizeable phones(don't use ****ty RFS filesystem Samsung uses) and they don't give u a ****ty source to work with and RIL dlfrom android 1.5( talking to you Samsung) this should be exciting!!!

I figure that since essentially the incredible and the media one are the same phone it shouldn't be too terribly difficult to get a port this way. If I was smarter and could do this stuff is being all over it, good thing we have people who actually ARE that smart... lol. First dev to get it up and running will get a 24 pack from me, donation wise at least.

This is probably a silly question, but can I not just download Gingerbread and install it, or do I *need* to get a customized HTC version?
You need the version made for your phone.. So yea the HTC versiob
Sent from my Incredible using XDA App
Anybody know if we are getting an official upgrade?. Or is this phone too old now lol.
Edit: just read the new features list. Oh man I just got really excited. Gyrosensor support, dual camera support, better keyboard, better power management, better 3d performance, Better copy/paste. I can't wait. I'd say 2.3 is on par with iOS now for some cool hardware

It would be really nice if HTC supported the incredible, but I won't be surprised if it isn't. However there are a few reasons why we might get it (and they're all purely speculation):
1. Evo and Incredible run off very similar framework/hardware, would be two birds one stone sort of deal to help reinforce customer loyalty
2. The original Droid got froyo and that was almost a year after its release. We are in a similar situation and seeing how cool HTC is with updates we might get lucky.
3. Our hardware is still well within the requirements for gingerbread. As a matter of fact the Nexus S has a 1Ghz processor so there's no reason from a hardware standpoint NOT to do it.
Conversely, HTC did out a number of new devices (G2, MyTouch 4G, Desire Z etc) which might be a higher priority for them to get on gingerbread. Its hard to know for sure, but speculating is fun

The Nexus One is getting Gingerbread today and the Incredible/Evo have almost identical hardware, so I say the odds are in our favor. If not, we will definitely get a port from the Nexus One or an AOSP build from one of our great developers.
alright i am a sickass noob! *cant express that enough* i mean it even took me like 5 min to find a way to post something on this *so yes this is my first time posting something*, i am just wondering if i am rooted *which i am* and a new update comes out, ei Ginger, how would that effect my phone if i clicked update? would it update my phone and i'd lose root? or would it simply brick my phone? real curious havent been able to find a plain answer anywhere
If u are stock rooted without having removed any of the factory bloatware then if u click update is will simply apply the.update and you will not be rootes anymore. Wala

Really liking the new keyboard. I've not been a fan of any 3rd party keyboards (I'm still using the HTC one), but this may replace it. The only problem with it right now is the autocorrect doesn't work right. Don't want to send a bunch of messed up messages to folks.

Many times it does, but I find it fixes common typos pretty well. The main thing I hate about the HTC keyboard is the autocorrect... I'm NOT a fan of it just popping up there and then it being difficult to get it off the screen or saving a bad spelling in the dictionary. I guess that could be reason enough to turn it off though... lol.
According to the video on the nexxus s site its not just autocorrect but autolearn and correct so the auto correct adapts to the user better thus eliminating the usual hatred for most autocorrects. So far is learning me quiet well.
Here is a flashable of the gingerbread keyboard...

While for many, this update won't mean much, for others is actually a very important update. Our current gmail app is seriously crippled for some email users, no android management tools, no push notifications plus a more restricted market. I briefly switched and was stunned at the improvements made to the gmail app...eventually had to switch back though because my Battery life took a *HUGE* hit. Samsung/Sprint is really starting to drop the ball IMO.
2.2.1 is still being worked on,,,but the talk around the water cooler is 5-6 months for gingerbread,,,but it will be ported long before then.

Who cares, use DK28. It works great and has the best battery life I have ever seen on a smart phone. Most recently, from a full charge with calls, texts, internet browsing, emailing, facebook, and over an hour of angry birds I got 31 hours of use before I put it on the charger at 6%. I used it the whole day, left it off the charger for the night and used it the next day just to see how long it would last. If they are making these kind of improvements I an very happy with the progress and they can have as much time as needed.

Are you trying to say that is the release date? If so, you just destroyed your own credibility because they would never release a huge update on a holiday. No one wants to be stuck with a broken phone on Christmas sitting on hold for tech support. They most likely have less staff working too, which would just compound the problems.
funy thing is I dont care if you think its credible,Im putting it out there,if Im flammed Im flammed...And to clarify what my info is,12/20 is when they want to have RC2 ready for .4 version test phones, the window is mostly 5 days for bugs to be reported, now we are looking at 12/25-26,then if it is given the ok,it will roll out before the end of the year as expected, not everyone will get the OTA the first day.So I cant say when you will get it,only when they expect it to be done....And if you follow my trail, posted exactly when DK28 would hit 3 weeks before,I said 26-29. And Ive said this before,DK28 was supposed to be final with an update 2 weeks after the roll out to fix any unseen bugs.I mentioned this here and on SDX,does that seem credible enough for you?

A little laggy at times, but nothing serious.

It does help, but it still happens.
same as above: not a real problem if i slow down just a tad. i want to say that the issue is worse on the DK28 roms than on DI18, but that might not be true at all. maybe for me tho...
p.s. i didn't vote in the poll because neither choice is accurate for me.... for me it would be somewhere in the middle of those two choices.
I havent noticed it...does it depend on the soft keyboard used? I use the Droid X Multitouch and dont notice sht.
Hey, you know what would be really weird? Is if it depended on whether or not the soft keyboard supported multitouch.
I'm gonna lean towards a software issue. I've uninstalled swype and its seemed to work.
I only skip keys now when I'm in one of those phases where I can type oddly fast

Looks like people get varying results even when removing Swype. My question is, why do we need to remove one feature to make another work like it's suppose to? Has it gotten so bad that we must compromise one feature for another on such an "Epic" device?
I'm sure most will just say deal with it. But man I hate paying so much for a device and it doesn't even work right. The main selling point for me was the keyboard. I'm old school and just can't get used to the frustration of swype or SIP keyboards. But it is nice to have swype available when you type 3 or 4 words at a time. Often times I can't have my cake and eat it too but this is a phone for geezus pete. Can't I have the best of both worlds!?

Xoom and... Evo/DroidX/Droid#/etc etc

I tried doing a search and I don't think it has been posted but out of curiosity, anyone who has a Xoom - what is your phone model? I'm curious what the combo of Android devices are.
I have an EVO. I'm guessing EVO, Epic, the Droid 1/2/Global/, and Droid X will be what people carry the most with their Xoom.
And I can honestly say yes, the Xoom is really, REALLY, fast. Oddly enough, however, it doesn't make me feel like my EVO is slow as hell. That's usually what happens when I get used to a fast computer and then have to use a slower, older machine. Of course the EVO isn't that old, but the main difference between the processors seem to be the fluidity and quick/sharpness of opening programs, moving from screen to screen, etc.
Does anyone's Xoom make you wish your phone upgrade was just around the corner?
I was actually wondering what phone I'll get next. I think I'm eligible for an upgrade in the next 3-4 months. Since it's a company phone I have limited say in what the choice will be. At the moment I have the iPhone 3Gs and it works nicely with the Xoom. Let's see what will be out in summer

Using the Droid X. Had it since it first came out and am currently running Liberty 1.5. Always loved it and didn't feel like rebuilding things to try out CM again -- I tried CM when I first grabbed the X but ended up switching to Liberty after it's release -- I was very ROM trigger happy... After a quick 1.5 release I never looked back. Since the Xoom came out I've left the X alone and moved onto configuring the Xoom.
