[Q] Wireless won't connect - Incorrect password - Focus General

My focus will not connect to my Linksys 400N, I have both 5 and 2.4GHz channels enabled, and all other devcies on my net connect without issue. I correctly enter the WPA2 Personal passphrase, and the phone responds "Password incorrect" Reenter. AGAIN, I have selected "show password" I can see the password and know I am entering it correctly.
Ideas?

Have you tried entring the actual key instead of just the passphrase?

I had this problem too, but when I turned wifi off then turned the phone off and then back on then turning wifi back on and tried to connect it worked and has ever since. Hopefully that works for you. Not exactly sure why it worked after I did it but something I had to do when I had my Tilt2. Good luck

This happened to me as well when my router was too busy to process the DHCP request. I just got all the other devices in my house to stop using the network.
Then I disabled and re-enabled wi-fi and it connected without a charm.
Tap and Hold will allow you to delete the connection settings and let you retry if for some reason the password is corrupted.

I tried connecting my Tilt2's wifi spot with no luck. Bummer.

Need tons of help with Wi-Fi PLEASE

alright i need help connecting to my home wireless router. (and yes it is a wireless G router, i just installed that thing that lets it work with wireless G)
alright so here is what i do step by step.
1. hit the comm manager button, and hit WLAN so it connects.
2. choose my account
3. enter the network key
4. I hit settings, and i see i have a great signal
5. a pop up says "unable to assign a server-assigned IP address. Try again later or enter an IP address in Network Settings".
6. I hit settings in comm manager then hit wi-fi settings
7. I see all my info on the main button and i hit the advanced button
8. Status = associated to network... Mac address is filled in... IP says 0.0.0.0 and i can't change that.
if anybody can help me that would be great.
9. now after a long time of not doing anything, a pop up says the network key is incorrect. enter the correct key and tap connect. Except I know it was correct because i entered it very carefully, and all my info (#7) showed up.
somebody help me
try static ip allocation
start>settings>connections > network cards > WLAN card> IP, subnetmask, dns gateway...etc etc u know the drill
alright I put in all of those settings, but still when i turn wifi on, it still asks me for my network key, and still try's connecting to the normal WLAN.... ughhh...
Seems to me like your security settings arent quite right, but thats a guess. I had a similar problem with a PC when I had enabled MAC filtering. You don't have that turned on on your router do you.
To rule out (or in) security settings, I would disable my routers security and make sure I could log on to an open network, then go from there.
Oh I know i can log into an open network, I did at a coffee shop a little while ago. And I know I can connect to my router, my other computer is and so can my PSP.
I have a similar problem. I didnt have this problem a couple of weeks ago and managed to connect without a problem. However now I'm having the same symptoms as the first poster.
When I disabled the security setings on my router, I managed to connect and received an IP address. However DNS was not working. Explorer refused to bring up any page. I couldnt even access my router's home page using just the IP address. I even tried entering the DNS IP address manually but this didnt solve the problem. Skype managed to connect without a problem though.
Cheers

I had the same issue even after I turned off the security, mac filter etc. It would connect once but after a suspend, it wouldn't connect at all. I have a d-Link DI614+ router. Finally figured out that the MDA was not going thru the channels properly. I had my router set to 10 and it would not budge beyond 11. I just changed the router channel to default to 11 and turned on security and filtering one by one and everything worked. My advice is to set the router to a default state and attempt to connect it. If that doesn't work, throw a temper tantrum and remove all settings on the MDA and go thru step by step again...

WiFi Access using WPA

I have recently changed my routers encryption from WEP to WPA-PSK
I have gone into the settings on my VarioII and changed the key, it finds the router tries to connect but fails, I have re-entered the code several times but still it won't connect, it is a pain because you have to enter the code manually (it's 63 characters long) I managed to do it on my PS3 first time

Not going to solve your problem, but if you use something like Hitchhiker then at least it allows you to cut and paste the key.
There are lots of threads on WPA-PSK often Router specific - However without knowing your router here is a listing:

Thanks for your quick response, my router is a BT Voyager 2100. I'll see if there's any firmware updates for it
Ok fixed it.
Switch off the router and remove the connection on your network card and soft reset, restart the router, when it finds the connection put in your details, all is fine again.
Phew

Good news!

Upgrade to Windows Mobile 6
I flashed my TyTN to the latest radio and Windows Mobile 6 (using the black one now, but the XDA .2 worked as well).
Pre WM6 I had no WiFi love on my WPA encrypted link, but afterwards it works just fine. I had the same symptoms as you described, finds the SSID, enter password, no worky.

Cannot connect to the Internet

My wizard has found my home router and has a strong signal but when i come to use msn messenger or ie it will not connect.
Any ideas?
'When connecting to a WiFi hotspot from a Windows Mobile device, you first turn on your wifi then the tower like arrow appears in the Start bar. Near the tower two oppositely pointed arrows keeps moving when connecting. These arrows should stay stationary meaning the network is successfuly connected. If you try using msn when the arrows are still moving, you'll end up seeing the device has no connection!
Regards,
Carty..
looking at the wifi it is active. i've checked the settings and it has a valid ip address but still will not connect.
but the gprs for t-mobile will let me connect but it costs £££.
Is your wireless router security encrypted??
Mine is.
If I connect to wifi on my device at home, it will ask for my encryption passkey. Then I tell it to save. From that point I can connect at home no problem. Now if I re-flash my rom and forget to enter my passkey, my Wizard will recognize my wireless router, but will not connect until I remember to re-enter my encryption passkey for my router onto my Wizard.
This may or may not be your problem, but I hope it helps.
PS- I created a simple text document with my passkey on it and saved it onto my SD, so now all I have to do is copy and paste the passkey. Makes life much easier.

I set the network up and the only security on the network is MAC control.
It will not issue an IP address without a valid, recognised MAC.
My Trinity will access the wireless fine here but the Wizard won't.
Its issued with an IP, Gateway and DNS servers but won't access the net.
Same deal at another house where the network is WEP encrypted and the passkey is known.
I have the same problem. My Blue Angel works fine with WiFi on WEP, but my Wizard does not. If I disable all encryption, it works just fine. But I don't want to get rid of the encryption. Any ideas?

WiFi network has IEEE 802.1X checkbox checked - How to remove

I cannot connect to my home network today. When going through all the settings, I see that the IEEE 802.1x checkbox is ticked, but greyed out. How can I remove either the network, or remove the IEEE setting ? I don't know how this changed, as it was working yesterday. I have two notebooks connected to the same router without any problems and neither has this check box ticked. so am presuming this is the problem - the problem being that it will not get an IP address. It finds the network but will not connect. I can see an option to edit the network, and remove the settings, but there is no option that I can see to remove the IEEE setting, or delete the network so I can start again, but am not sure this will prevent the IEEE setting from being selected by some other means. Obviously something caused it to select this, but I don't know what. I have removed any programs I have installed over the past day or so in the hope that this might have resolved it.
ieee802.1x == wifi network

Thanks for that. I realise now that when WEP is selected (which my network is) that IEEE is activated by default. This means that I have some other problem accessing the network. It detects the network, says "connecting" then reverts to available. Never had a problem with this before and at a loss to know how to resolve it. Will try to connect to another network that I know works tomorrow.

I also tend to experience similar problem,
there are networks I can never connect to even after configuration,
when other work great..
The problem is that it has never been a problem to connect to this, or any other network. The only change I have made to the PC, which connects to the same router as the X1a is that I have set up one of my browsers to access the internet via a proxy, but I don't think that would impact on the inability of the X1a to access it.

WPA problem

Hi,
I have an HTC Elfin that has no problem connecting to a home network with WEP encryption. But at work, I cannot connect to the network with WPA-TKIP encryption. My phone just tries to connect for a few seconds and then the status of the access point goes back to "available". I've verified the network pass phrase, as it does work with my co-worker's netbook. What is the problem here?
BTW, I've been reading up on this problem and somebody mentioned the fix of turning on/off the wifi (turn on wifi, connect, turn off wifi and then on again), but it doesn't work for me:

Try to set wifi to best performance instead of best battery first.
Often the problem is also caused by a combination of the router (brand/type) and a Windows based device/computer.
Some things you can try to get a working connection with WPA-PSK enabled:
1. Modify the registry:
\HKLM\Comm\EAP\Extension\25\ValidateServerCert=dword:00000000
2. Modify the network settings:
Settings > Connections (tab) > Wi-Fi > Network Adapters (Tab)
and select "NE2000 Compatible Ethernet Driver" (maybe you have to config a static ip-address).
Thanks for the suggestions. I did all those, except for the static IP since our network admin doesn't provide one. It still doesn't work. One thing I'd like to understand is that in my case, why does the WPA-PSK connection work for the standard Windows environment (laptop/netbook, desktop) but not Windows Mobile? What could be the difference?
I don´t know what ROM are you using, but if it is some of 23XXX Builds, disconnect first the Bluetooth and then connect the Wireless... Should work now...
My ROM is MK_872_05 WWE, from chota_shivaji. It uses WM6.5 CE OS 5.2.21872. Thanks for your suggestion. I will try it out on Monday when I get back to work.
I disconnected the Bluetooth connection and tried again to the WPA-PSK encrypted access point at work and it still doesn't work. Just yesterday at a relative's place, I was able to connect to his router with WPA security. I think there's something different with the one at work which does not work with Winmo devices.
at work do u just have a password or a user/password? are u using certificates?
At work I have a guest username and password that I can use to log in for the WIFI access point. The password changes every week, but I confirmed that I used the latest one. But I don't think there's a certificate needed since my co-worker is able to use his home netbook to log in without anything else except the same username and password.
