This issue has been occuring from day 1. Whenever I connect my phone to USB and run HTC Sync, at the time that synchronization starts, Windows will pop up the message that there might be an error with the card which needs to be scaned and fixed. This will re-occur whenever I try to sync or re-sync (and without even disconnecting and reconnecting to USB).
If I scan, it says there is no error but next time it will happen again.
I am using Windows 7 64bit.
Could be a defective card. Have you tried swapping it for another card?

Hi
A good few weeks back I had a problem with my wifi card. I own the O2 XDA Mini and the card is an SD one. It had been working fine, then all of a sudden it just stopped working. When I plugged it in, the screen came on but the LED on the card did not light, meaning it is not working.
Anyway, when the card is plugged in, everything freezes. I have been trying to get this sorted with the manufacturer who said hard reset and reinstall with a new driver.
Now, I was going to update my ROM so thought would do it all at the same time. The one thing I also had a problem with was all of a sudden my GPRS as well as my active sync comp connection did not work. Could not connect for unknown reason with GPRS and
"cannot start communications with the desktop computer. remote networking could not start due to a critical error (Error 608).
Please reconnect your device. If the problem persists, restart your device using the instructions provided by the manufacturer" comes up when I try to connect to comp.
Anyway, after the hard reset and ROM update, it worked, GPRS and activesync. Then I tried the new drivers for my wireless card and plugged it in. The same thing happened - screen froze and I lost my GPRS and active sync again!!
Now I have tried everything I know. I have been in contact with XDA but they have not replied yet.
Can anyone please help me as I dont want to do a hard reset again!
PS - I have tried uninstalling WLAN software, but it part fails due to one of the files being in use. I deleted that file manually but still no luck. I thought maybe comms is being taken up by the WLAN card and thats y i have other connection probs???
Thanks
darren
Haven't seen this problem on the forums, sorry if it's already been solved. I hook up my Wizard to my computer, activesync runs mighty fine. If I try to reconnect it, the device says "looking for changes" ad nauseam and I have to wait 5 minutes or so to get the not working message. If I pull it out before (and I think even if I wait for the message to come) then the Wizard starts running dreadfully slow. I run Vbar and I had to remove it because everytime this problem would occur, Vbar would freeze up as soon as I activated the drop-down menu.
I am suffering from the similar issue. The only workaround I have found is to kill Outlook in the Running processes tab under Memory app. Wizard then runs fast again.
I don't run outlook on my ppc so I don't know what to do to get the same result. I know now tbat if I wait long enough that I can transfer files after getting that error message but I still get that wait + error message in the first place.
I would then delete the partnership on both PC and PPC and re-establish it using new names for both of them.
I have been connecting and syncing device w/out any issue until today that it begins to connect and suddely it gives me an error" Synchronization cannot be completed successfully. Reconnect device and try again" then it reverts back to "guess" instead of my device name. This is really frustrating because I cannot do anything, not even download new software. I recently downloaded WM 6 softouch 4.0.0.0.0.6 but it has been working fine until today.
Update: This is really weird. I was able to download a new radio rom eventhough I got this error, but I cannot do anything else through activesync such as contacts, notes, etc.
I was able to get it to work by deleting and re-installing activesync 4.5. So far it is syncing ok. Anybody had a similar issues and how were they able to resolve other than hard-reset or reinstalling activesync.
I have a Sprint Mogul. ActiveSync has ALWAYS worked perfectly fine for me, but today I think I may have messed something up...
I bought my girlfriend an MP3-Player for her birthday, so I loaded it up with all her favorite songs and CDs. After that, I decided that I want a few of those songs on my Mogul, so I disconnected her MP3-Player, and hoooked up my Mogul. All of a sudden, I get an error message that says:
"Synchronization cannot be completed successfully. Reconnect your device and try again. If the problem persists, see the Microsoft ActiveSync Troubleshooter in ActiveSync Help on your desktop computer..."
However, I can still explore ALL the file son my Mogul, so it IS connected and reading my phone AND storage card. The problem is, when I try to Sync music, or install a new application to my Mogul, I get another error message that says:
"Your device is using an outdated driver that is no longer supported by Windows Media Player. For additional assistance, click Web Help."
I realize what it says, but I loaded a few songs on my Mogul not 1 hour prior to getting this error.
Another weird thing is that every time I try to connect my phone it shows up as "WM_Owner1", then 2, then 3, etc...
-I have now performed a hard-reset, and now I can do absolutely nothing but make calls. I can not install applications, edit/delete ANYTHING, uninstall programs... Basically, it's almost like every file on my Mogul has turned into a write-protected file somehow. I do not have access to ANYTHING...

Have you tried reinstalling Activesync? Have you tried canging USB cables. Usually one of those is the culprit if a hard reset doesn't fix it.
Hi,
I've got a really strange issue where if I have iTunes running and dock my HTC Touch, Windows Mobile Device Center will report this as "Error" every time I connect it.
I can exit iTunes and then the device upon re-docking will work ok.
Has anyone else come across this? I am guessing that the ipod software is polling all the USB ports, and when this connects it may be causing the connection to WMDC to drop and that is what is reflected by that error?
I've put up with this for months - and only just worked out that if I don't run iTunes then it will connect!
Any ideas?
Update
Well, it has taken a while to try a few different things...
I have set up Bluetooth on my PC, and after a day of mucking around with it, finally it just "came good" and I could sync fine.
Then disconnect Bluetooth, and reconnect to sync - WMDC shows the "Connecting" then "Error" message as it did with the USB cable.
Inspecting the error logs it has reported this:
Windows Mobile-based device failed to connect due to communication (0x80072745) failure.
This is also the same error given on USB when it starts to connect, and then displays "Error" in WMDC.
Disconnecting the HTC Touch and reconnecting it (either through USB or Bluetooth) a few times it will just "come good" with no logical explaination behind it.
I've checked and even disabled the firewall, and it is still intermittent with the same error.
I thought I had narrowed it down with iTunes, but I don't think that is the cause.
The network adaptor is showing up in Device manager fine.
Does anyone else have any ideas for troubleshooting?
