That should take care of you remember to uninstall voodoo completely if you have it installed.

This will bring you back to unrooted stock even without voodoo uninstalling

So after receiving my replacement vibrant i've decided to simply root and use some of the apps i used to like. Assuming i don't end up breaking under pressure and flashing a ROM, will things such as morphs and changing system apps not allow an OTA to successfully flash and boot? I did apply a black bar mod with an accurate battery but other than that i've done nothing but app related activities that require root. So, say when the official 2.2 comes out, would i have to revert my framework to stock as well before accepting the update? Like I said, currently I remain on stock JI6 with the stock kernel.
I think you need to be completely stock, no mods, for an ota to take. If not you'll most likely brick

That's not true. You can have all kinds of mods. The only thing you need is touchwiz running during the ota time frame and you will get it.

For instance I was running jfd and jacs oc/uv kernel and a battery mod + a meta morph theme and no home replacement app and I got the update

yeah, but did it work? were your mods still there? i was told that having a different kernel will not allow the update to come through
My phone went to stock . Booted up with stock ji6 with ji6 kernel . I had to reroot even though my super user app was still there and reapply mods just like when you odin a stock rom . The only difference was my apps stayed in system/app and system/app-private and carried over with the update.

Hmm, I was just basing my comment on all the threads saying there were modded and ended up brickin...i havent even got the update yet so I dont know for sure

The ones that bricked were probably running voodo . That changes things... So if your running stock jfd and a voodo kernel your most likely to brick. But odin will save you.
O and you haven't recieved the ota yet?? That sucks. Why havent you used keys mini from samsung thats an official way to upgrade.

All I had at the time was root, clockwork rom, titanium backup and launcher pro and mine bricked (well soft bricked)...
Now, I'm running bionix 1.9.1 and loving it...hahahaha
Ive never used mini kies before, I wouldnt trust my old ass pc, I try not to use odin too much either

So after this crappy update known as JI6 and terrible battery life (me and others have had..), I rooted my phone and started freezing and removing the crapware that T-Mobile and Samsung added to this phone. I have backed up all the apps I removed so I have them on my SD card.
My question is, when we get Froyo or whatever update does come next for us would it be wise to go back to stock? Remove root and put all the apps back? I read on the Android Forums that people were advising others to factory reset before doing the update. What do you guys say about this?
I personally would say go back to stock JI6 OTA. Otherwise you are risking bricking your phone like people did when JI6 came out.

Is it simply doing a Factory Reset or is there more to it?
To be extra safe.. you could ODIN back to JFD, then ODIN JI6 and you should be good to go. That might be a little overkill since you haven't done that much to your phone.
Haha, yea I'm not that adventures to go in-depth and start tweaking settings and what not. I just want to go back to stock easily for the next update so I don't brick my phone.
The best way to odin it. I dont think factory reset help

+1 vote for Odin to JDF then push Froyo when it comes out. There's nothing like the clean feeling of a freshly installed ROM....ahhhhh

I was rooted and playing with a lot of roms when dj05 came out but have since gone back to complete stock. I flashed back using Adrynalyne's Full DI01 ODIN package and am now on the ea28 build. Since then I seem to have broken my stock calendar. If I make an event, add a participant, and try to send the invite, I get the error; no application can perform this task. Gmail is working fine, so I am looking for advice as to what could have happened and how to go about fixing it.
Thanks in advance.

Ok..... Does anybody know how I can reload the stock calendar app without being rooted?
*Update*
I had to do another full restore using the above said method and it seems that right away after setting up the phone that the stock calendar and gmail are unlinked. My wifes phone is out of the box stock and her calendar works fine. Can someone tell me how to do a backup of her phone that I can then apply to my phone? Keep in mind we are both not rooted and running EA28.
Thanks in advance.

I'm searching for a way to remove the rooted rom I have and go back to stock. I've found several rooted stocks, but I need to be fully stock. I'm looking at upgrading and will be selling my phone. The person that wants it requested it to be completely stock. Can someone point me in the right direction on this?
There are 2 topics in the Development section that can assist you in rolling back to a completely stock firmware without root.

Given that there's no way to reflash the factory image, is it still safe to remove all the AT&T bloat using Titanium Backup? Right now I have all the AT&T bloatware frozen and it doesn't impact anything, but I just want to if it'll change if I completely uninstall the AT&T programs i.e. My Locker, Blurb Checkout, etc. Would this impact my ability to receive firmware updates or unroot and reset the handset? I should mention I'm probably going to be selling the phone when the Nexus 5 comes out so I still want to be able to unroot and factory reset (as long as it can reset, it doesn't bother me if the AT&T bloatware is gone).
I guess that depends on what you mean by "safe."
I removed almost all of the AT&T stuff except for the update service and the hotspot app, and I know I'll never miss them even without a recovery option.
If you need a recovery option, then probably best to not remove anything and use Safestrap to experiment with other roms.
Don't delete it, freeze it. That way if you mess something up you can defrost it.
If your on MF3 I wouldn't touch anything and just use safestrap.

There is always risk.
I learned the hard way... I touched too much stuff with Tibu on my stock ROM and it doesn't even work anymore. I can't do anything with it... luckily I have safestrap still until they release an mf3 factory image for Odin or kies I can't do anything with my stock ROM.

I removed all att and samsung bloat except for watch on and several services. We should put a list together of safe package to remove.

About the time you posted this last night I was freezing apps. Apparently too many. Phone will not boot past the at&t logo now. I can still boot into my custom rom slot 1 so I'm not at a total loss, but would really like to know if there is anyway to replace/defrost those frozen apps on the stock ROM via the ADB terminal running on my custom ROM. Seems like you could just copy and overwrite the package files on the stock ROM... Which leads me to my ultimate question of what does TiBackup Freeze option actually do? Uninstalling would remove the app and files from the system completely so since they are still present it seems there would be some sort of a control file that you could edit manually to defrost the app(s) in question.
Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
I've read a few times that best buy can do a factory restore, yet every time someone says they are going to ask their "friend" at best buy for the method/procedure for the restore they drop off the grid... Is this a possibility?

As long as you don't reboot it =)
Can you defrost it if you have rebooted and now you can't get past the at&t boot logo?

I don't recall the urls but there are already a few in-depth lists of safe bloatware to remove from our phones..
@xda_n I'm not too sure I'm still researching on this, but haven't really been actively looking for it. Not in a rush really because I'm not going to sell my phone or anything so I'm just going to wait on Samsung to release the mf3 file via Odin or kies. I'm just using vision-x and shostock which is giving me better battery and performance than stock and still have stock feel so I'm not in too much of a rush to fix my stock ROM yet. My stock ROM would boot but it would say com.android. something and it'll freeze. I accidently tried to do a factory reset after deleting all the apps via tibu so I couldn't recover any files I saved and froze so i learned my lesson and don't want to deal with best buy right now.
