So lets just get crazy and assume that Gizmodo has this right: http://gizmodo.com/5676008/ and this is the Nexus 2. If it is based on the same platform as the Vibrant (Galaxy S) and is running Gingerbread (2.3) we could be looking at some very real possibilities of our phones becoming as valuable as the Nexus One platform.
And a real good shot at moving right to Gingerbread.
My 2 cents.

My 2 cents: Samsung is too new to the Android market to create a developer phone, even though Galaxy S provides a great hardware platform there are some aspects that could only be conceived during comma - RFS.
It is only a matter of time before we would know who has been chosen to carry the Android torch.
P.S. Before it becomes a war should be here or there - there are a plethora posts in XDA General section, and this thread most likely will be moved over there.
If this pushed Samsung to drop RFS, I'm all for it.
Um wasn't there a thread with a link to an article which said no more nexus period. That means 1, 2, etc. They purpose of google and the n1 was to push advancements and make phone devs step it up.Look it worked. To paraphrase googles head "we are not in the business of making cell phones"
Perfect combination, Samsung hardware with google supporting software.
Now people wont have to worry about if and when they will receive updates especially when new android OS come out.
This is the only reason i miss my nexus...exclusive OS updates

It would be nice that the Nexus Two is Samsung hardware, that means we Galaxy S owners will get the latest Android revision from dev. Google and Samsung joining up would be nice since Samsung make there own hardware.

I for 1 would only buy another phone if I needed it. The vibrant now, which is still young in development, gives me what I need. The part that interest me about having the N2 manufactured by samsung would be possible ports to the current line of the GS series.
the wrong manufacturer is making this phone....im telling you dont let its sex appeal get u drooling...u'll b waiting forever for a software update like all the other Samsung phones. Samsung always finds a way to differentiate thier software from everyone which basically puts a governor that affects performance negatively like RFS filesystem and Touchwiz...dont get me wrong, the vibrant is a GREAT phone w/ media features but its the last Samsung phone ill ever get. I might ebay this soon if something comes out that catches my eye thats a HTC phone. Theres a big diff in performance and larger rom/kernel developer support. Cyanogen in particular

What? Not to add speculation upon speculation, but surely the Nexus2 or a new developer phone would surely be void of any vendor overlays, even Samsung's TouchWiz.
true, but its very possible it could still have the dreaded RFS filesystem. Even with stock android, this will significantly hamper the phone.
This is one of the main reasons i'm leaning towards getting a mytouch 4g.
if samsung gets the nexus two, its very likely we will also benfit from it.

Hopefully it would push RFS out the window. And if not, as long as everything else is Google-ified, we can get it ported & get some z4mod action.

Really? Haven't you learned anything about the Nexus One? Google supports their own phone, while their customer service does suck, all updates to the Nexus One was via Google, not HTC. If Google is wanting to make another Nexus phone, then I highly doubt they will let the manufacturer decide everything. Even with the RFS file system, I doubt Google would let that happen since it's their phone, and when they release a phone under their name, it will probably be a developer phone which should have little to no problems software-wise.

One Carrier. One device yearly. Multiple updates throughout the year. But one of the best parts, imo, No AT&T control. Apple seems to have complete control. I know a lot of people who really dislike that, but I know even more who are pulling their hair out because they signed a two year contract on a device that may never see Android 2.3. Or by the time it does there will be 20 newer, better and faster devices out with 3.0. It's frustrating when you not only have to wait on Google to produce a newer update, but then you have to wait on the phone manufacturer to produce an update due to their proprietary UI, and then have to wait on the carrier to add their bloatware and restrictions.
These forums are our only way to vent these frustrations. The carrier doesn't care, and the manufacturer doesn't care. They have your name on the dotted line. You are theirs for the next two years if you don't want an ETF.
Why not release stock Android with the option of carrier UI download?
Or at least a system where you can go to stock Android for your device, downloaded directly from Google in an itunes manner if you wanted.
I hear the term "fragmented" a lot these days when people talk about Android. So many devices with so many versions of Android.
I've heard talk of an Android overhaul with 3.0. May'be rumors.
When we do get 2.2, We will go through the whole thing over again for 2.3.
2.3 is already out. It should be made ready for all Android devices that can support it an be available as a download for those devices. At the same time the carriers should be working on their custom UI and have that downloadable ASAP. May'be that's impossible due to the fact that Google doesn't produce these devices, just the base software on them.
Just my rant/questions/vent
I do see your point.

What device hasn't been upgraded either officially or through custom roms within a year of its release to a newer build of Android? The iPhone gets updates once a year.
Anyone pulling their hair out because their device isn't getting an official port of Android 2.3 is an idiot to begin with. Buy devices that are worthy on their own with current software. Don't hope that you MAY get an update to make it the phone you really want. And if you somehow NEED to get updates because your e-peen just won't be big enough without the latest Android build on your phone, then buy a damn nexus 1 or S.

Just talking about one slice of the Apple, not the whole thing. There is also something good to be said of openness and choice.
There is just so much anger and frustration when it comes to Android and I think a lot of it has to do with manufacturer and carrier control and their decision to keep the consumer out of the loop. Vague and general answers are not much better than no answers at all. The "you'll get it when you get it" attitude some people have, although it's true, does not ease the sense of irritation.
Theres no way cr-apple had the right idea, there while system is flawed right down to one piece of hardware for all. All other things aside, I hate apple hardware period. And everyone having the sandstone except for color is stupid. Android ftw. Open hardware/software ftw. Samoled ftw.

The thing is its messy right now but once 3.0 comes things will change a lot...why? simple, right now Google is releasing bi-annually..and not waiting for manufacturers to catch up...once 3.0 hits Android will be released once a year...Google will also start working closer with their partners and manufacturers...
In reality I don't think Apple or WP7 has the right idea...simply because right now entered a cell phone age..aka phone specs are jumping every year by a good leap...
Apple has a policy where they upgraded the 3gs and the 3g to version 4 which is nice for average consumers..but at the same time it kinda forces partners to limit themselves to the minimum specs...same will happen with WP7 and their minimum of snapdragons...once dual cores come out and apps take advantage of these, all WP7 devices will be left behind because the apps have to be backwards compatible with the lower specced versions..(now I know they may have implementations of which hardware can use what App..but then both M$ and Apple would be eating their own words of "fragmentation" as they call it)
I can understand how an average consumer would be left out right now..but at same time average consumer does not care much for upgrades as much as we do either...either way past 3.0 it will get a lot better..
apple and windows are limited because thats the way they want it. f*** that. this android is the most universal device ive ever seen. the os is written very well. i like no limits or restrictions to the possibilities other than the hardware. do you really think the next iphone will have a dual core sssshhhhtttt i doubt it. even if it does it will still be slower than this phone ha. google is getting their act together with android because it is in their best interest because they will make way more money off of all the advertising from everytime we search stuff and the info they get from when we use navigation.
Samsung has stated the possibility of an official update to the Android operating system version 2.3, which is intended for all of the issued units range Galaxy. The new OS has a more refined user interface has been improved as well by copying and pasting text. In addition there is support for video on the Internet - resources (WebM/VP8) and full support for VoIP calls using the built-in front camera. However, the emphasis on developers are increasing the performance of their devices at the same time, the new version of the operating system has increased the battery life of smartphones by optimizing the energy consumption. All of the devices in this family can be updated automatically by means of an instrument Kies, which is a formal program for flashing devices. The latest version of the operating system can also be downloaded from the official website of the company. updates, in particular, the following models are available: Galaxy S (I9000), Galaxy Ace (S5830), Galaxy Fit (S5670), Galaxy Gio (S5660) and Galaxy Mini (S5570) . Just now getting ready for the new firmware Galaxy S scLCD (I9003), Galaxy Tab 3G (P1000) and Galaxy Tab Wi-Fi (P1010), which will appear later.

You are Right, ilievski.ace, full agreement!
But that's the normal behavior since creation of economy. Specially since the invention of the "game" of developing HARDWARE & SOFTWARE
They are not interested, that we use our cheap phones forever. They want you to buy a new one.
That's quiet easy and logical.
Our G3 is not a high end phone and unfortunately the development of software seems to be too expensive for them. So they concentrate on their new devices.
That's sad, but not the customer is their interest but the profit in the end.
I really hate to explain any customers, that they should buy a hole new computer after 3 or 4 years, because it's cheaper for them, than the costs of changing the motherboard and recreate the OS with the new Hardware for example... ;(
Siple answer for samsung reply is that they will not take care of g3. It's not so popular as other models so they leave it for good...
Shame.

clarkkov said:
Of course it's not right. I don't care about Samsung's reasons. SG3 is not an old legacy handset, it is about a year old device! There is no reason to abandon it, and contrary to many people's beliefs, it's quite popular because it's relatively cheap for an Android phone so many people have it and use it - Samsung sees this as another opportunity to sell even more handsets to even more people because it will deny many people simple software upgrades. Samsung is acting like Apple and it's a bad behavior, I and many other people will never buy another product - at least a phone - from Samsung. I recommend everyone to pass SG3 and to boycott Samsung in any way they can because Samsung deserves it. Many other manufactures act similarly, but not to this extent and they do release unofficial hacks and they "borrow" their devs to the community to hack some updates even if they refuse to do it publicly. SE X10, the device released in the beginning of 2009 with android 1.5 got it's 2.3.4 update recently! How can Sony-Ericsson do that for practically dead phone? How is that suddenly "Rational" to SE?
Samsuck can screw themselves with their piss poor overpriced hardware, if I wanted to be treated like this I would have bought Apple iPhone 3GS and I would at least have a decent piece of hardware.

yeah, CM7 is really great, since its built from AOSP, no samsung crap. Marcellusbe has my greatest thanks. CM7 a4 is the best ROM i've used, no lags/crap/fcs like in samsungs firmware. I just cant wait for it to get to beta or rc. I won't be buying a new phone for a while now, so the devs are my only hope. Developers>Samsung
Waited for more than 4 months for official update to 2.2 without flashing on my own, since it was promised by Samsung.
And when it arrived my country, what did I get? Crappy, bugged, laggy rom!!!
All this waiting for what?! Flashed straight away to a better firmware like JPM, which wasnt meant for my country. Then after, its all Custom ROMS. And by & far, they are much much much 100x better than what samsung released for public.
I have hope in our DEVs, and Im sure we will get 2.3...big thanks to the DEVs who keep alive our G3.
I've been disgusted by Samsung's lack of support of this phone or any phone they've released in the US. When the galaxy S line came out in the US, I encouraged everyone to buy them because they were such good phones. Well they were good on Eclair when they came out and didn't really fix all the problems in the extremely delayed Froyo release. I still laugh to my self when I remember asking the Sprint salesman when the Epic will get Froyo and he said "by the end of September" (I bought it September 9th). For anyone that uses the "best hardware" bs excuse I don't care. I want my phone to work not to have the "best hardware". The keyboard still doesn't work properly and that's the only reason I bought this stupid phone. Anyway, I was looking at this androidcentral article about fragmentation and I noticed something interesting; Samsung has only updated ONE phone to gingerbread in the US. Just one phone on one carrier, the Droid Charge. The other Samsung phones on gingerbread are the ones that launched with it. I would never in my life buy another Samsung phone but unfortunately the Nexus Prime is made by Samsung so they'll have to get my money again. I'm definitely buying the Prime next month and either smashing this epic piece of s**t to pieces with a hammer or donating it to a developer. Probably the latter since I've been dying to have a fully functional cm7 build for months.
Sources:
http://www.androidcentral.com/dear-molly-rants-lets-talk-about-android-fragmentation
They are bad... The worst IMO. Its all because of the "UI's they put on. But if the prime comes to sprint i will be buying it. I assume the prime will NOT have touchwiz. But we will see, I at lease hope because it does not have a keyboard it should have CM7 soon.
Samsung is known for its prominent hardware manufacture ability.
If they had deep software capability, they would've not use android to sell their phones.
They're strategy is to own other handset manufacturers with superior hardware qualities like SAMOLED, curved screen, thinness, etc..
After they sell their product to customers, they just do enough support to prevent a riot.
So for the software updates, you can't expect from Samsung. It is waste of money for their view. Just make the next one with Gingerbread or ICS and sell 'em.
Want proof? Search for Omnia 2 that was sold as "iPhone killer" in Korea. It had Winmo 6.5 on it. People had to be stuck with it for two years, and by that time even Microsoft dropped Winmo and got Windows 7. If you search in youtube, you can see people video hitting the Omnia 2 with hammer.
Moral of the story? Don't expect awesome software supports from Samsung.
Get nexus.
They are definitely becoming better. The Omnia thing is a pretty bad example (Samsung didn't say the device was an iPhone killer, it had Windows Mobile on it (an OS by Microsoft which wasn't very elegant and Microsoft didn't bring updates very often, in fact 6.5 was the latest version and Microsoft killed it, what could Samsung have done about it? An update to the completely different WP7 years later was practically impossible and never promised by anyone). Plus, it is an old example, things can change totally in the smartphone world in some months. SGS1 users -especially in the US- had to wait extraordinarily long for Gingerbread but it feels like the whole thing has become better (rather subjective but also visible in terms of the SGS2).
In the end most over the average users didn't know that Gingerbread existed and didn't miss much, the Galaxy S1 was certainly no bad phone, hardware- and softwarewise. And all those Geeks who are longing for every little update and who read and post here in the forums are probably more happy if they just install another ROM.
First off Samsung makes the Nexus. 2nd off Samsung is great with updates....if you don't have a US carrier or Touchwiz. European Galaxy S phones have had Gingerbread for 6 months. Nexus gets very timely updates. To judge a company on 1 out of the thousands of products they make is being very single-minded. All the major US carriers Galaxy S line have not been updated. When we didn't get Froyo for 6 months Sprint blamed Samsung and Samsung blamed Sprint. This phone was the 1st Galaxy S to get Froyo then they took it back and T-mobile got theirs then Sprint. So obviously there are issues when dealing with Touchwiz, FCC hardware restrictions and the carriers. For all we know Sprint is holding onto the OTA because they are having equipment maintenance issues across the country an want to wait until they are fully operational. The 99% of Epic owners are oblivious to what Gingerbread even is so Sprint figures it can wait a few weeks.

All excuses, if other manufacturers like HTC and Motorola can push gingerbread updates in a timely manner then Samsung should be able to as well. I'm not judging them on one product, I'm basing my argument on every phone they released in the US. I know Samsung makes the Nexus S and the Nexus Prime... I clearly stated that in the OP. Clearly you have trouble reading and/or comprehending written statements.
What makes it even more pathetic on their part is that they've had a phone with gingerbread on it with essentially the same hardware as the other galaxy S phones for almost 10 months and still nothing. Just ****ty leaks with tons of things not working. I know the international version has had it for a while and it's been working out well for them but why such a delay with the US market? It's a huge market when it comes to mobile and they've sold millions of handsets here. They clearly could care less about what happens in the US which is why I'm always perplexed when people drool over new Samsung phones. I can't help but laugh when I hear ZOMG EXYNOS DUAL CORE, IT CAN RUN THE INTERNET! Too bad all that processing power won't save you from ****ty programming and no updates.
Okay okay no need to take things personally.
We all are dissatisfied customers.
About Samsung's omnia 2 reference, I am pointing out that Samsung only focuses on delivering phones with high specs on paper. it is quite obvious that Winmo 6.x was crap and having it on the flagship phone at the time is like shooting yourself on the foot. Indeed nobody promised upgrade from winmo 6.x, however it's their arrogance/ignorance that gets me. They are like "we can make phone with better cpu+scree+build quality, so we are better". This approach worked for them 5~10 years ago, but not anymore. At this time of age, I want real quality product that can bring quality experience. That means hardware alone can't cut it.
It's a fact that Samsung does provide quality hardware. However, they certainly are poor at anything software. In fact they don't have any quality software to show because they don't. Touchwiz is not even a standalone OS, its just a skin/theme.
So how do Samsung try to compete with phones like iPhone? Take the idea, slap better cpu/gpu on it and stamping out phones like a crazy factory, with their massive hardware manufacturing capability. How many samsung phones we have now? And how many of them actually beat iPhones?
Galaxy S2 is very close but it is safe to say that none of them are as optimized as iPhone.
I just don't like their business style of just producing phones with highest and newest technology on it but don't care about fine tuning and optimizing the whole system.
Look at Epic 4G. It had so much capability with keyboard, good front facing camera, Wimax 4G, awesome 1ghz hummingbird cpu. But in fact they are all good on paper, but in real life experience, they fail to utilized completely.
What's good if I have the keyboard if it ignores key inputs. What's good to have ffc if like apps such as Skype don't support it (now it does, but man.. after like 10 months of ownership...?). What's good with all the cpu if the OS is not optimized and I have to install custom roms/patches to get the phone to be snappy.
The point is... Samsung can't deliver iphone killer alone.
Buy nexus, because it is combination of samsung's hardware capability with Google's software capability.

Umm, this is America. We're on American carrier(s). We spend American money on this crap. Most of us ARE in fact American (or at least legal residents I would hope). In fact, after a few more beers I may even argue that supporting a foreign company's actions in this case is treason and punishable by being hanged.
Based on the above paragraph, I think we're well within our rights to judge Samsung on their American product support - which is basically non existent. Of the 3 Samsung phones I've ever owned, the only one worth a **** is the Captivate and that's only because it has fully working CM7. I won't waste anyone's time going into detail on my Epic gripes, and we all know (and probably furiously hate) the Moment.
But to diversify (and/or digress) just for a moment. I've had 2 Samsung DVD players that were complete crap and were returned. They were replaced with LG's that I am pretty impressed with. Also, my Samsung fridge makes me want to bash puppies every time I use the water dispenser.
OK, then why keep supporting them? Stop buying Samsung dude! I was just trying to note that there is more to it then just Samsung not updating the Galaxy S phones in the US. By all the RDFs it certainly isn't for lack of trying. Since the same thing happened on froyo, what really slows it down? Touchwiz? FCC hardware regs? They hate the US because Apple is based here? What really is the hold up? What is the real reason Europe gets it first?

We'll never know what the hold up is... For all we know they killed Jobs too.
And no, I no longer support them. Going back to your earlier point, I try not to judge them based on one product. The DVD players were crap, so they were returned. The fridge worked great for the 1st year or so before I started having problems with it (and if you think their mobile devices tech support is bad, try large appliances!). On the phones, the Moment I thought was a fluke of a bad phone, but it turned into a support nightmare. At least Sprint credited me back on that one. I thought the Epic would be a big improvement. While there was significant improvement on their part, they still suck IMHO.
In the grand scheme of things I own a HUGE amount of high tech devices. The amount of "support" I've shown Samsung with the 6 products I have bought (and 3 I've actually kept) is roughly equal to a pint of piss in the ocean. I won't write off a company based on 1 bad experience - I believe in 3 strikes and you're out and the Epic was #3.
At the end of the day, the only Samsung product I've bought and actually like is the Captivate. Ironically it's the only Samsung device I bought second hand (and behind a liquor store in a shady part of town at that).
While I'm thinking about it. I had a Philips Plasma TV which is now in pieces in my basement. About 95% of it's internals are Samsung manufactured and that thing was a steaming pile of baby ****. I now have 2 Panasonic TV's that I absolutely love.

OK. Out of curiosity which manufacturer will you try next? I also am not thrilled with supporting Samsung. I just don't think they are totally at fault. HTC rushes out updates that don't work and some claim make the phones unuseable. So are you thinking LG or Motorola?

Motorola for me. They may not have the fanciest screens but some close and quite technical friends of mine have the Droid 2, Droid X and their kids have Droid 3's. Yes, my SAMOLED's blow the Moto's screen away, but their phones have been quite reliable.
Also, I've been a fan of Motorola for a looooong time. My Nextel's took a brutal beating on a daily basis. I have no idea why my Razr's took all their abuse and survived. The radio's I installed in taxi cabs back in the early to mid 90's were not only rugged as all hell, but fairly high tech for their time in how they handled channel hopping and things. In my decade or so in cable we used TONS (literally tons) of their equipment and it always proved to be reliable. Not to mention the Motorola radio's that went to the battlefields and into space. That company knows how to build a damn fine RF device. I should have never strayed away from them.
Point taken. Funny thing was I bought a Samsung bluetooth headset. The ear hook snapped in half within 90 days and Samsung told me that is not included in the warranty and wanted to sell me a ear hook for $6. I told them to go screw themselves and would never buy another Samsung product. Then the Epic came out...LOL.

Figures, the only movable part is not covered? Douchenozzles....
FWIW, I've always been happy with Plantronics devices. I have 2 of their BT earpieces for my mobile phones and use their CS50 series on my Avaya and Cisco endpoints.

If the google merger goes through, I would go with Motorola.
The thing that pissed me off was it sounded like it happened all the time. Got a package of 3 ear hooks for $6 from ebay instead of giving it to them for 1. But yeah, heard Plantonics makes good bluetooths.

Dear Samsung,
Before us, you were a nobody in the Android Arena. HTC and Motorola ruled the landscape. We turned around your fortunes. Ice Cream Sandwich is touted as the biggest change to Android in a long time. Its beautiful, its fast and we want it. After reading this we are disappointed. You say that our hardware will not support it, we ask you how does the similarly specced Nexus S run it so smoothly? You say our hardware is insufficient to run Ice Cream Sandwich along with your TouchWiz smoothly. We will remind you that we have one of the best GPU's around. Given that ICS supports hardware acceleration, we feel that you are being a bit lazy with your coding. We are sure you can manage to make even a TouchWized ICS run smoothly on our devices. If you remember the HTC Desire, HTC had said that it would not run Sense UI and Gingerbread. After a lot of uproar, HTC decided to give their users the option of running an unskinned Gingerbread on their Desires. It voided their users' warranty, but at least it gave them an option. Since most of your Galaxy S devices will already be out of warranty or almost out of warranty, we feel we deserve at least this much. Bring a de-Touchwized Ice Cream Sandwich to our devices. Its the least you can do. Yours Sincerely,
The Galaxy S Family
sorry to burn your boat this will not help any body get Samsung to update our galaxy s to ics all Samsung want is to buy a new phone
There's already a well established petition here http://www.change.org/petitions/www...ndwich-version-for-users-of-the-samsung-i9000
If you really want ics, try teamhacksung ics. Its much better than what Samsung could put out.
Its beta but i am using it daily without major issues.

I've been on ICS since a month. Tried out all the ports. Its not for me. Its for people who don't want to or cant dabble in custom ROM's, which is pretty much 99% of the 15M+ SGS users.
TouchWiz my a##!! We don't need useless touchwiz UI with ICS, as it makes ICS look ugly. I am cursing myself now that I should have waited for SE Neo instead of going for SGS !! Now our devs are our only hope!

We won't get ICS and we won't see samsung update without touchwiz. Ofcourse Samsung uses touchwiz on every new and older phones.

HTC uses Sense UI in each and every device of theirs. Yet they made an exception with the HTC Desire and offered their users a way to upgrade to GB and remove Sense.

Samsung is shooting herself in the leg.
I do not think that SGS+ will not get ICE CREAM SANDWICH.
Why? because if i9023 (Nexus S) receives the upgrade, and it is, then why should not i9001(0) get the upgrade to?because the technical specifications of the i9001 exceeds specifications of i9023 (http://www.gsmchoice.com/en/porownanie/5020/5023/5101/0/)

yeah but if there was a official Rom put out, then it would save the Devs the headache of having to build the Roms themselves using resources off other devices, they could then focus on the actual speed and reliability of the Rom instead of having to go through the headache of trying to port everything to the phone themselves
Instead of signing petitions, why not all of us just posted at their Facebook, Twitter and their customer service support. Seeing since so many (like 5000+) had signed the petition. If the 5000+ went to spam their facebook and twitter I guess somehow they will notice it?
I like your idea just swamp the crap out of their pages with the exact question...
i recon thats a statement
Join us in our cause to make Samsung support their customers, rather than just spit in their faces.
We've spent our well earned money on a device that was clearly overestimated, and now it's manufacturer thinks it can just throw it all away and not support our needs for a brand new Operating System which we have been waiting for for months.
Apple has always been supporting it's customers by enabling them to upgrade features and whole Operating Systems even if they own much older devices (up to 2 years back), I wouldn't want to think Samsung isn't capable of the same thing.
Join our cause and be heard.

P.S.
I would also like to post the petition link on this page, does anyone know who's the person who thought about it so we can work together on this?
They can't come up with a valid excuse else than financial ones not to put out an offical ICS rom. If it's purely financial, it means they're just treating customers like money bags. If that's the case, customer outrage is perfectly acceptable and justifiable.
So, outrage everywhere i'd say. The noisier we are more chances there will be someone actually listens.
Don't be shy, spam everywhere. Samsung's facebook, tweeter, customer support, every petition available, etc. That's what i'm doing. And if they still aren't doing anything, i'll just change my brand. Plenty of android devices (or even apple?) to chose from. No one cares for a company who doesn't care for his customers so screw them.
By the way, OP is well written and explains everything someone should expect them to do in this situation, well done.
I agree with everyone, and further more, this is not a cheap device, it's still a high end device just 15 months old.
If you buy an expensive phone on 24 month contract next time, should it be Samsung?
I guess we already spent the money so there's no need to court us. I'm not sure I would do it again.
For next phone i have two choices:
1) Buy high end android phone and be in same lame ass situation like this one
2) Buy iPhone and be settled for three years
What do you think i will do?
For me the disappointing thing about all this is Samsung's insistence on such a heavy Touchwiz layer on top of ICS.
When I saw ICS I hoped they might abandon TW as so many features from that were implemented in ICS anyway.
I had decided to upgrade my SGS to a SGS II to get ICS as it is a superior device to the Nexus S in my opinion.
Then I saw the ghastly overlay of TW which just drags ICS down. All this just forces me to go the custom ROM route to get a version of ICS that isn't unnecessarily bloated.
I actually like TW on Gingerbread but now I think Samsung has lost the plot just when they looked set to topple the iPhone.
F.ck you samsung. SGS FOR SALE. I hate my phone and samsung.
