In ROM Manager (not FRM, Clockwork) under Fab's releases there is a zip to go back to stock fonts. I've always used that. Never tried it when using Fission, though. Thankfully, I haven't ran into a theme that changes the fonts with Fission. I also prefer stock fonts.

Ok didn't work what would I have to do to completely wipe the phone back to stock clear off all my personal stuff back to like out the box

you could try slapping another theme on top of it, like the stock one or the gingerbread one, can;t make any guarantees but thats how i got the stock icons back after a little mishap

Is it possible to change the colour of digital clock?

Hi, just as on screenshot. My digital clock font is white and it's hard to read on a silver panel. Is there a way to change it to black or any other colour?
PS:
1. I'm from Poland and have a polish locale on my G1 (just for your information in case someone asks)
2. I'm not interested in changing the theme to make it readable
Thanks in advance for any answer.
looks like you applied a theme that changed it to white, should be black. There should be a default theme in the theme section of this site. Make sure its compatible with your version of firmware first. Then you can flash it just like any other update.
I flashed it. That is the default template I downloaded it along with the Dudes utils and flashed it, because I disliked that blue stock theme. And this started right after flashing the default android template.
Up. I really need help. I tried reflashing the original template - nothing.. Ofcourse I can use analog clock, but I like that digital one, too.
The problem is definitely a theme you have flashed in the past. If you flashed a theme before you should be fine flashing the default theme again. If you are using JesusFreke build or Haykuro or The Dude or whatever you should just redownload that update.zip (all 35+ MB) and reflash your phone. If you flash what you already have you should not need to wipe and you should get your black clock back. Alternatively, just upgrade to JFv1.5ADP or the newest build of your choice.
And I think for clock colors you have black, white and red as options but they all require what got you to this point to begin with.

Oh no, I think I don't wanna go through all of this again.
So what you mean is that if I have a Dudes 1.1a full and I reflash it one more time - I can do it without wiping and I won't loose anything I have on the phone right now? (and I have 'lot', I have my g1 for about 1.5 week and already rooted, apps on sd, dalvik on sd, market enabled etc, new radio, latinIME etc.) I just want to be sure, as my english isn't perfect (altough I'm learning it for a couple of years by myself [I only had german in school and now I study it at university]).
Thanks for replies.
You've got it, just download The Dudes again and reflash it and you should be all done without a wipe. But you should learn how to backup your phone with nandroid in the recovery screen and how to use adb to backup your apps and dalvik cache to your computer.
This is a thread I had that talks about similar things, I think all the commands to backup your apps and then push them back to your phone are there.

Go from 1 custom theme to another

I've read and found that we need to wipe and reflash the rom first then apply another theme. So I wonder why we can't just go directly from one custom theme to another ???
I have a rooted MT3G with cm 4.0.4 rom, cyanogen 1.4 recovery, and a Hero theme. I've also downloaded a few other themes (for cm 4.0.4 of course) and I'd like to know if I could just copy those themes to the root of my sd card and boot in recovery mode and Alt+A to flash each rom to try to see which I like best? ...
OR I would have to reflash cm 4.0.4 rom first then apply a theme and follow this 2-step procedure for each theme I wanna try?
thanks in advance, your help is very appreciated.
I would also like to know. I am so tired of wiping and having to reinstall everything when something goes wrong when flashing other themes.
The easiest way I think to test themes is to create a stock 4.0.4 nandorid backup, then flash the theme you want to try. After that if you want to try another, restore the backup and flash again with another theme.
Someone else might say switch rom might work better, but I don't have any experience with that tool yet.

By what you said "having to reinstall everything..." I assumed that you meant you had to reinstall all your programs and apps and stuff, right? If so, you don't have to face that hassle if you had apps2sd. That's what I have with the cm 4.0.4 rom, when something does go wrong with that theme, I only have to wipe, reflash the rom, then apply theme. That's still a 3-step procedure vs only one step of flashing the theme if we're able to do that. So get a rom with apps2sd or install apps2sd with your current rom, and you won't have to resinstall every single app everytime.
I've wiped the phones like a million times already lol-to test different roms, if I had to resinstall every app every time I wiped, I'd have gone crazy by now.
Thanks, I really didn't even realize being an advantage for having apps2sd. I need to install it, but being somewhat of a noob, every time I look at partitioning my sd I get so overwhelmed that I abort in fear that I would do something to mess up my sd or phone.

I'm a newbie in this android world as well and I'm a bussiness major who knows nothing about programming and C language. I was just like you the first time I take the look at the instructions to partition the card, but it's quite simple once you get the hang of it. Just follow every step and read every step and do it slowly, and you'll be fine. It took me about 25 mins the first time I partitioned a card, and it went down to less than 10 mins the second time. give it a try, you'll do fine.
I was wondering this earlier... so ijust tried it, and it works, there is no need to wipe, i have flashed three diff themes running cyan 4.1.11.1 and no problem so far, so just try it, at worst, it will hang and you wipe then flash as normal lol
no need to wipe if going between themes. just always make a backup first in case the theme you use has bugs in it. you can just flash the rom again, no need to wipe. or just flash the default theme template.
next, just make sure you choose the right theme for your rom. for example do not do 4.0.4 theme on a 4.11.1 rom.
for switching between themes, the best thing to do is revert to the default theme first, then apply the updated theme. the reason is, each theme modify different files, it's not always the same. so if you apply a new theme on top of and old custom them, you may have weird theme problems as some aspects of the old theme may show up on the new theme haha.
the easiest thing to do, since most themes now contain stericsons lockscreen and some have htc music, is to reflash the rom, then flash the theme. that is what i always do.
the reason you need to flash the rom or theme template first is that say theme1 has x.apk themed but theme2 doesn't have x.apk themed and leaves x.apk out of their package altogether, then when you flash theme2 over theme1 the themed version of x.apk from theme1 will still show up in theme2. now in some areas this may not be a problem, but that also applies to anything that is in theme1 and not in theme2, so it is best to flash the theme template (or the rom if you are coming from stericson's lockscreen to a the old lockscreen (which humorously enough is still by stericson) so that it will overwrite all of the new lockscreen files).

That is very true, i always do a backup just in case, but this is an extra step that does not require much more, so i will do this too. thanks for the info (i want a scooty puff sr. lol )

Sense UI and Stock 2.1

I would flash Sense to my nexi if i knew i could switch between Sense and stock 2.1. could this be possible? in a different sort of way this would be a kind of dual boot.. idk, but thinking out loud

it's possible.... you just disable HTC Sense and you have the stock Android UI. however, you cannot use the HTC mail, contact, calendar & txt msg widgets.
I have Modaco's ROM and a stock zip saved on my SD card and switch between them constantly. Just dont forget to backup beofre each switch. Takes about 5 minutes to have all everything including apps restored.
i know you can disable it, but unfortunately you're still left with sense colors (highlights mostly)(bright green) and the stock android highlight (bright orange) is gone. i guess im talking about a straight up dual boot between the two.
Have you thought about Nandroid?
You can back up your Sense ROM and your 2.1 ROM, and restore them if you want to use a different one; this is most like dual booting.
I haven't tried it personally, it might not work due to the different partition but it's worth a shot.

ok... based on your revised question, Nandroid backup/restore might work for you, though, you'll have to test it (as mentioned above). hope it works out for you!
You can use nandroid as kind of a dual boot system. I have 3 nandroid backups, one of modaco's desire rom, one of cyanogen's rom, and the stock rom. Whenever I decide to switch to another I do a nandroid backup of the rom I'm using at that time then wipe and go to my backup of the other roms. Once the rom is loaded I use linda file manager to delete the old backup of the rom I switched from and just keep doing that and they all stay updated. What is really cool is if I download something from the market on one rom, when I switch to another, it automatically downloads that app to the other rom so each one always gets updated with my apps when I boot it up for the first use after flashing.

Question about installing theme on rom

So I noticed that when I install rubix .5 I can see it in About Phone > Build number - rubiX Focused 0.5Patched
Now when I install 928 smoked glass theme over it, under Build number it doesnt say the name of the rom instead I beleive it says VZW.
Is the theme doing something to the rom? How can I still make sure I have the rom? I do see the rubix boot logo on reboot but is there another way to make sure looking at some system directory?
I think in System > build.prop file?
Yes you have to have the rom. When you flashed rubix that rom image replaced your original image. So your original is no longer on the phone so there is no way the theme restored you to your original rom.
Not sure why it messed with things though- but themes do mess with things. Since the theme may contain apk's that the rom did not include etc.

So I went ahead and installed Black Glass X for Droid X Official 2.2 Froyo 2.3.15 DeOdexed. After the reboot I checked About Phone > Build number - 928Droid Black Glass X OTA2.3.15 DeOdexed
And when I use root explorer to look at System > Build.prop - 928Droid Black Glass X OTA2.3.15 DeOdexed
When I reboot I still see the rubiX logo, so yea not sure what happened. I guess this is normal when you install a theme?

the reason is because when you install a theme or ROM over another ROM it is only replacing whatever is in that file you are installing. So unless you use a themed ROM or theme that is replacing everything old stuff can be left behind. Only way to be straight is to use a ROM that requires formatting /system and fully reinstalls /system then all the old stuff would be gone

MIUI on my DX - And my DX experience so far.

Hey guys, I just wanted to share my experience so far. I can't post on the MIUI page because I don't have enough posts, so I'll share here for anyone interested.
For anyone wanting to try MIUI for the DX, here's my experience, some tips, and suggestions.
-Beware, installing or trying to install ANY ROM may brick your phone. although it's very rare and unlikely to be unable to find a solution to problems, it can and has happened. so take caution and read instructions and so-forth carefully.
Some history of my DX. I soft-bricked my phone back in the early months of the DX trying to deodex it to install themes. It was stuck on M logo for 2 days before i learned enough from scratch to find out what an SBF was, where to find it, and how to flash my phone back to stock. Ever since then these nice folk on XDA-developers forums and other droid forums have helped me successfully mod my phone many times, through Q&A, detailed instructions, and a little luck.
I've rooted my phone using the command method, Z4Root, and several other processes. Some were hard to figure out, some soft-bricked my phone, most were easy as pie. I'm on a Z4Root atm.
The first successful ROM I installed was GUMMY-JAR. I liked it, it was good to me. nothing like the comprehensive ROMs out now though.
Then I jumped to Liberty 1.5, Liberty x.x etc... Liberty was awesome, but was still basically Froyo with advanced options. I loved it.
Now, just today, I've installed MIUI. And let me tell you, its amazing!
For anyone running Froyo Liberty ROMs, I believe that you can install MIUI right over the top. I didn't think it was going to work, as I hadn't seen anyone mention if it did or not over the top of Liberty 1.5.
If you want to install MIUI, go here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1181486
You MUST be rooted, and be running FROYO, NOT GB! You must also have the Droid X bootstrapper.
I won't give instructions, as I'm not qualified to do so. But I can tell you what I did from Liberty 1.5. MAKE SURE TO MAKE A BACKUP FIRST! 1) I downloaded the MIUI ROM from the above XDA post to my SD card on my phone. 2) I clicked 'bootstrap recovery' on the DX bootstrapper app, then 'reboot recovery.' My phone booted into clockwork recovery mode. 3) wiped data/factory reset. 4) cleared cache. 5) install from SD Card. 6) install MIUI.zip i downloaded from the link i posted above. let it run it's course. rebooted. DONE.
It's really that easy if you are running the DX stock Froyo kernal.
Keep in mind with MIUI, it does NOT auto-sync your Google account. you need to go into the options>>accounts/sync and add your Google account. You can then re-install apps from your backup or just re-download them. Make sure you've synced your contacts with your Google account so they will be there when you add your Google account.
Some thoughts on MIUI...
There is NO STOCK APP DRAWER. I recommend ADW launcher or Launcher PRO. The MIUI launcher inst bad, but it's like iOS in that there's no app drawer. It's just a bunch of screens with all your app icons like an iPhone.
You can download theme's and customize themes through settings>>personal>>theme manager. MIUI allows you to change fonts, boot animation, boot audio, lock-screen style, status bar, icons, launcher, wallpapers, text style, dialer style etc. There's tons of pre-made packages, but you can also change them all individually and create one you like best. You can do all of this directly from the settings menu including looking up new themes, downloading them, and applying them.
MIUI is running on 2.3.4 GB. So it wont say 2.2 anymore after you install. (I believe the kernal is still Froyo though? Please correct me if I am wrong)
I really hope this helps some of you newbies. I am thankful for all of you that have made posts like this that I have found useful in the past.
Note- some people are having issues installing MIUI. They are getting bootlooped on the M logo for some reason. I have no idea why this is, it worked perfectly for me first try. Just remember to follow the instructions on the ROM page, and that you are running the correct version of Android. You shouldn't get a boot-loop if you do so.
Hope this helps!
i have a question.... and this question is what will decide if i keep this or go back to liberty gingerbread....
how the hell do i flash anything.. i can't even install clockwork mod without getting bootloops.... and i'd love to flash certain apps onto this.... but if this can not be done i will have to go back.... the only thing going into recovery does is use the retarded original recovery... and that is a big deal.. if i ruin my phone on the go and need to pullup a backup i can not do this with this rom and i will end up phoneless until i can get to a computer to sbf

What exactly are you asking? "Flashing" is the process of basically overwriting your current Android OS with an Android OS SBF. If you are trying to install MIUI, you cannot do it with Gingerbread installed on your phone. "You MUST be on CyanogenMod 7 or .340 Froyo to flash this rom!" (MIUI)
If you want to install MIUI, i think the best bet would be SBF flashing to stock DX 2.2 .340 FROYO, re-rooting, then using the DX boot-strapper to boot into recovery. Then installing the MIUI .zip from SDcard in the recovery menu. Everything should work fine after that. Rmember you CANNOT go into recovery using DX boot-strapper once this ROM is installed. you CAN go into recovery with this ROM using ROM-manager. This is what I have experienced so far, and what others have said also.
no.. i already have the rom installed... i just want to be able to go into recovery without needing to be booted up.
i'm trying to install some zips through clockwork such as the old blur camera and a few other things... i will install rom manager and see how it goes from there... i love the UI of this rom but as far as being comfortable and stable.. liberty gingerbread has my vote as of now
i've cleared my cache and data several times and i get force closes alot. and this is a clean install coming straight after an SBF.
with liberty gingerbread i had the ability to set it so every phone reboot, even if a battery pull, would boot directly into clockwork mod.. making it easy for me in case i installed a zip that would get me into bootloop
Hmm, sorry mate, I dunno what to tell ya. Try looking aroudn forums or startign a new thread. someone more knowledgable than you or me will help you out.
thanks for everything though!! this really is a beautiful rom and i'd love to stick with it... i'll bite the bullet for the meantime and post around to get some help... i'd love to post in the developer section but i don't have enough posts yet.. haha

You need to install Rom Manager, and select flash Clockwork Recovery. Make sure you select Droid X (2nd Init). Then you can reboot into recovery with Rom Manager :-D

but the problem is that i would like to be able to go into recovery without having to do it through an app... i'd like to make it so every reboot (including battery pull) makes it boot into recovery. thats how i had liberty gingerbread doing it... if not.. i can live with it.. i'll just be a little more careful on what i'm installing
Just wanted to chime in about MIUI rom, I just flashed it yesterday and am ABSOLUTELY loving it thus far. I had no trouble at all installing the rom what-so-ever. I used ROM Manager to do the whole thing: downloaded newest ver. of MIUI, backup current ROM, wipe data and dalvik. Let it run its course and it rebooted and was up and running in no time flat!
