[Q] Unusual symbol: Phone -- ! -- Computer

So, I've been trying to restore my phone after some modding gone bad...but now, I've gotten to the point where I can't even get to the green battery screen. My phone won't turn on, and it'll only display this screen with a phone icon connecting to a yellow triangle which is connecting to a computer.
Has anyone gotten this before?
More importantly, is this fixable? Or am I gonna have to file an insurance claim for a "phone that got dropped in a lake" this week?
Use the search option. It will do wonders. This has happened plenty of times before. ODIN can fix the problem.
1. Take out battery, put it back in. (to turn the phone fully off)
2. Don't turn it the phone on!
3. Plug the phone into your PC, do not hit the power button!
4. See if the phone shows anything on the screen
IF the phone screen does show the battery charger or something else on the screen after being plugged in without you hitting the power button, so far so good.
5. Now while it's on like this, hold the volume up and volume down buttons.
6. Hold the power button as well as the volume buttons until the screen goes black.
7. As soon as the screen goes black, let go of the power button! But DON'T let go of the volume buttons!

The best luck i had getting my phone into download mode was pulling the battery, putting it back in. holding vol up+down and plugging it in. instead of going to charging, it goes to download immediately.
All messages related to "3 hardware key combo to get back to download mode so that you can use ODIN to restore", or "use adb to get to download mode so you can use ODIN" only work when the 3 hardware key combo work in the first place, or your PC can recognize the phone for adb to work
I am one of the unlucky one that does not have this 3 hardware key combo working, and am also in this sad state (Phone-!-PC). As a result, PC is not seeing the phone, so adb is out of the question right now
My phone has been like this since last Thursday (a failed attempt to use ODIN to flash JAC's OC/Ext4 kernel). All my reading so far does not give me a fuzzy feeling that I can ever get back to Download mode (ON MY PHONE)
I called my carrier for a replacement, and it should arrive this morning...
If someone can actually get to download mode WITHOUT the 3 hardware key combo OR adb access, I would love to know how
Had the EXACT same problem. Here is how I fixed it:

Glad that this work for you
But not for me, for some unknown reason
No SIM
No SD Card
Pulled battery out
Make sure screen is off
Put battery in
Hold Volume up/down
plug USB cable to phone
plug USB cable to PC
Bam! Phone-!-PC
Update: Got my replacement phone.
Have SIM in
Have SD Card in
Leave Battery in
Turn off Phone
Hold Volume up/down
plug USB cable to phone
plug USB cable to PC
Instant Download mode!
Just as I read, it's a luck of the draw whether you have a TMobile Vibrant that has the 3 button key combo disabled. My first one doesn't have it. My second one does

My vibrant wont power up at all! like there is no battery

Here is what happened
The battery ran out of juice, so it shuts off
I tried to boot it up again, but it got to the unlock screen, and it shows the shut down animation and shuts off
so i charged the battery,
poped it back in, but not it wont turn on at all
i tried plugging the phone in, not even the charging screen comes on
HAS THIS HAPPENED TO ANYONE BEFORE
WHO CAN HELP
Well it doesn't sound like you're bricked which is good, maybe your battery is toast??

Try leaving it plugged in for a while before turning it on, sometimes flashing a rom messes with the battery life (it did with me)

i'll try and maybe the current will go through
you may have to run ODIN again.
To get your phone to turn on again do this in this order;
unplug USB cable from phone & computer
remove battery from phone
plug USB cable into phone
plug usb into computer
hold vol up & down at the same time
while vol up/down held, put battery in and wait.
Download mode should come up.
run ODIN

[Q] nexus 7 battery issues

Hello everyone,
First of all my problem. My nexus 7 is dead . the battery got too low as the charger was busted and it switched off and now its not turning on. I got the OEM nexus USB cable, OEM charger and have followed almost all the troubleshooting tips on this forum and elsewhere.
Now I dont know if the problem lies in the charging point or the battery.
My question to anyone who has the idea is that, IF i charge the battery in another Nexus 7, or with an external charger, will it work?
I want to fix this( i am in Nepal) and there is no way I can get a warranty in this. So I am in DIY mode
If the battery is dead and I cant boot into the bootloader anymore, is the above idea a possibility?
Thank you

Does it do anything when you first plug it in to charge?
As in does it start to show the charging screen and power off immediately? Does it start to boot then turn off?
Was having an issue with my wife's n7 where she let it discharge all the way to dead and would not take a charge or turn back on.
There is a trick you may be able to save it without doing much at all.
Plug it in to a wall charger and immediately, or as quickly as you can, hold power and volume down to try and get into recovery mode or bootloader. Needs to be almost instant.
If you can get into recovery or bootloader select power down (in bootloader use volume keys to navigate, power button to select).
Unplug the power cord and plug it right back in. You should hopefully see the charging battery screen.
Hope this helps.

I have already tried the above method. The good news is I went to a repair shop and asked them to charge the battery externally. My nexus did start. But it seems like I damaged the USB port somehow, so it is either a POGO pin charger or have to get the port frm smwhere..hmmm

Nexus 4 Wont Turn on

So I'm thinking my phone is bricked but I'm writing to see if anyone can suggest a way to bring it back on. It is fully charged and a red light will appear when I hold down the button. I reset and wiped it, so I think there is no software on the phone now. My computer doesn't recognize it. Any suggestions?
The presence of the red LED when you try to power it on is an indication of a fully depleted battery, defective battery, or a defective USB port.
Try using a more power charger and the original USB cable. If these things don't help, it may be time for a new battery.

Axon 7 Bricked To Hell

Hello All,
Yesterday I dropped my phone and the power button got stuck. I opened the phone with my tools and was able to fix the button. I didn't power it off, I didn't think it was needed since the button itself has nothing to do with the electronics inside. While I was closing its back It suddenly turned off. I was very gentle, didn't do any fast or unsafe moves. Since then the phone shows no sign of life. I plugged the phone the my pc but there wasn't any sign of life either. The phone didn't show up on Device Manager or anywhere else. One time, I heard a connection sound but I am not even sure if it was because of the phone since the sound came like 5 minutes after I plugged in the phone.
I already tried pressing all 3 buttons for a long time but it didn't do anything.
So what do you think? What might have caused it? And can you help me?
Thanks
First thing i would do is tear down and disconect/conect the battery flat. After that, hold volume keys while conect to pc usb and see if you can get edl mode. Than flash all that has to be flashed with miflash and edltools.
