[Q] help with froyo roms? - myTouch 3G, Magic General

hey guys, i've got an original mytouch 3g and am having some issues with any froyo roms i flash. i always do a full wipe and repartition my sd card before a flash. after a few hours of use, if i reboot my phone it always boot loops and i end up having to nand back. its an endless cycle and i cant figure out why the phone would run fine and then with normal use bootloop after a reboot. i've tried biff mod versions, cm 6 stable, and a few others but the exact same problem with all of them. any help would be greatly appreciated! im using a 2gb kingston sd card if that matters.

You dont need S-ON, you can try ArsADroid or if you tried it did it bootloop?

i've never heard of ArsADroid i googled it but didnt really get any good info. If my SD card was messed up somehow would that cause the rom to not boot up? i did format my SD card on my laptop (not the quick format) and that seemed to really help but now CM 6.1.0 just reboots every few hours but it always comes back on.

Go to the magic development section and you will find a lot of froyo roms and search the forum not google
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=846081

i think i fixed it. i put my sd card in my laptop and formatted it (not a quick format) i've done this a couple of times with quick format but always had the same problem. the regular format seems to have worked. its been 2 days and my phone still boots up every time. im running biffmod v2.1 (leaving on a jet plain) its really stable, fast, and with the the blue revo theme, it looks awesome!!! thanks for helping me out guys i appreciate it.

So you DEVELOPED something to make this happen?
Or perhaps you are DEVELOPING something to prevent this from happening?
Unless it's either of these your QUESTION would belong in the QUESTIONS and ANSWERS (otherwise known as GENERAL) thread.
Next time your new thead will be removed.

I was having this same issue on stock donut and donut roms. Also when i tried to use it to flash other roms, it couldnt be mounted. So I used my 4gb to flash CM6 and then formated the 8gb card in CM6 and never had a problem. CM6 ran really slow for me so i flashed Super D. It started to happen again in Super D, but I dealt with it. Stock Froyo came out, i switched to it, formated the 8gb card in Froyo and it hasnt done it since. So I would say its a donut problem. Try formatting it in Froyo or a Froyo based rom
wrong section.. sorry Moderator.
Yes, this is a Question.. and I will try that re-format procedure.
To clarify, I will randomly loose file access on the SD card, and regain it upon reboot.
I had formatted it previously using Amon-Ra's recovery to create the swap, ext and data partitions.

[Q] Ginger yoshi 1.2.1 (android 2.3.4) 32a

I have HTC magic specs are:
HTC Magic
SAPPHIRE PVT 32A ENG S-OFF H
SPL: 1.33.2009
Radio: 3.22.20.17
Recovery: RA-sapphire-v1.7.0H
ROM: Ginger yoshi 1.2
kernel: auto-boot-2.6.35.13-farmatito-pershoot-ds-BFS+-20110518.zip
I installed a few apps like skype (with video tweak), launcher pro and fancy widgets. One of them caused a problem and there after my phone is getting stuck on the vodafone logo. I have to clean delvic cache each time then reboot an then it works.
I reflashed the rom and the kernel but still the same. I think iam missing something. can anyone help.
Should I try installing another rom and install ginger yoshi?
or do i need superwipe? if yes then can anyone guide to me to the link where I can find easy steps to superwipe.
I would download cachemate and perform a super clean...
And or watch the logcat while your phone is booting and look for issues.
(search google on using logcat ) I use a tool called qadb
If not .. remove the new apps

[Q] Stuck on Boot logo after updating radio

Hi
I am currently on DARKSIDE CM7.2.0 rc1 and was experiencing quick battery loss during calls. So I decided to update the radio but after following the instructions and flashing few radios I am still stuck on boot logo.
Following are details of Bootloader
GLACIER PVT ENG S-OFF

MICROP-0429
RADIO-26.03.02.26_M
eMMC-boot

I tried following radios
http://www.androidinsomnia.com/r-and-r/
Download: 12.28b.60.140e_26.03.02.26 - T-Mobile MyTouch 4G
Download: 12.58.60.25_26.11.04.03
Download: 12.62.60.27_26.13.04.19
Can anybody suggest how to fix this. I hope I haven't bricked the phone.
Thanks.
Flash 2.2.1 PD15IMG.zip. If you get a failed-PU update, you're bricked.
Issue fixed
Actually after the Radio update some how access to cache partition was not available. I booted in to recovery from ADB and got an alert regarding formatting cache.
So to be on safer side I formatted all partition except SD and restored it from my ROM backup.
For past 30 mins my heart was in my mouth and I was already planning to buy Galaxy S3 but I guess Glacier is quite robust and with such a wonderful developer community it has a long way to go.
Thanks for responding.

Stuck on Froyo 2.2 can't update

I went through the process of rooting and doing the s-off thing to my wifes phone about a year ago. Then i got a new job and had to move and haven't had time to do anything else to her phone.
The phone won't accept OTA updates, i've tried using CWM to install a factory original Froyo but it won't go through with the update either. I have a Samsung Galaxy S 4g, that thing is a breeze to do anything too.
So i'm not sure where to go from here any help would be greatly appreciated.

i feel you are just flashing your roms wrong.
according to you hboot information you are just fine
go into recovery (seems you know how to just fine)
wipe everything (factory reset, wipe cache/wipe dalvik cache)
then flash this its a superwipe script then will insure a clean start
http://i.minus.com/1339555281/lvvJVTx6xZDFxKhbDmoVBw/d1SoCh5w7tYLT/SuperWipeG2+ext4.zip
put it on your sd card along with this rom flash in recovery (update.zip)
http://sourceforge.net/projects/ilwtcm7/files/latest/download
this is one of the better roms for the g2
for more info on the rom above here is the thread

dont worry, youll be fine in no time and have a happy wife again
Thanks, it worked and the wife is really happy. It was so simple after it was explained. Thanks a lot.
