Crappy sd, or phone issue ?
Problem solved on reboot, but annoying all the same.
Currently on mt3g 32b, stock froyo.. but was also doing it on stock donut and biffmod..
8gig sd.. Think its a sandisk.

So you DEVELOPED something to make this happen?
Or perhaps you are DEVELOPING something to prevent this from happening?
Unless it's either of these your QUESTION would belong in the QUESTIONS and ANSWERS (otherwise known as GENERAL) thread.
Next time your new thead will be removed.

I was having this same issue on stock donut and donut roms. Also when i tried to use it to flash other roms, it couldnt be mounted. So I used my 4gb to flash CM6 and then formated the 8gb card in CM6 and never had a problem. CM6 ran really slow for me so i flashed Super D. It started to happen again in Super D, but I dealt with it. Stock Froyo came out, i switched to it, formated the 8gb card in Froyo and it hasnt done it since. So I would say its a donut problem. Try formatting it in Froyo or a Froyo based rom
wrong section.. sorry Moderator.
Yes, this is a Question.. and I will try that re-format procedure.
To clarify, I will randomly loose file access on the SD card, and regain it upon reboot.
I had formatted it previously using Amon-Ra's recovery to create the swap, ext and data partitions.

after ROOTing with TOAST and unrevoked i keep having this constant random SD card failure.sometimes ASTRO file doesnt read anything and sometimes it just crashes.even rebooting doesnt help.i have a STOCK rom as of now.its getting really irritating and fraustating for me so PLEASE any suggestion and help would consider genorosity.
This was an issue when the EVOs were first released and it was addressed in the first OTA update.
If you're indeed running stock now go to settings > System Updates > HTC software update and see if there is anything waiting for you there.

if i update software wouldn't that break my root or brick my phone?
Would break root.
Just back up your sdcard to your pc and format it, that should work
I broke my screen today, so you could just send me your evo and you can take mine and we will call it good?
i haven't had a single problem with my card, but i'm not using the stock card, either. try a larger class 6 card, see if that helps. you can get them for about 45 bucks for a 16gb card

I had the same problem. I bought 2 evo's on launch day day, one for the wife and one for me. Hers worked fine, mine kept giving me problems even after the first update. It wound up that the sd card was somewhat damaged. I tried reformatting it several times with many different methods but it still didn't help. It just kept getting progressively worse, causing random reboots, constantly saying the card was damaged, eventually it caused my phone to freeze and restart in a loop. I replaced the card with one I had in my g1 from adata and now it works great. Just a bad card I guess.
flash with the OTA update and ull be set!
thanx guys I backed up all my files and switched to a new 16gb SD HC.so far so good, hopefully no more frustrations.thank u

I fixed mine by doing a full reformat of the SD card, and making sure it was seated well in the phone. Pulled it out, and put it back in. Worked fine and probably still does (I'm using a Class 6, 16GB card now)
There are plenty of reasons i want to break my F***ing Evo but c'mon, an sdcard?
The root method you used... well, it contains an OLD rooted ROM.
Make sure you flash the OTA rom.
That's why. The old version had SD card problems.
I had this problem too. It was annoying.

the reason is because i have lotta snes roms, videos, pics, wallpaper and third party apps in the SD card.i spent most of the time at work playing movies or snes or other stuff that r in the SD,so yea its pretty important to me for the device to read the Sd card.
hopefully no problems anymore on the new 16GB SD i jus put in.
just to clarify dont do the actually ova update that we have now, just get the rooted rom with the update added

If your on cm7 sometimes when you have it set so the apps install to an external source it won't work if its set to automatic it will work.

Yup I'm running cm7 rc3. stable and fast. haven't had any issues yet and I'm one of those who can't leave well enough alone, I'm always installing and messing around with it.

Oh GOD, i think i just bricked my phone. I did a factory reset and i kept on getting the laugher error problem, then i reset again. now my phone is totally dead. it is not charging, cannot turned on at all... Is it possible to fix it?
From what I have read, no. if you can get it on again and get to hboot you might be able to fix it if you have the eng hboot. Or maybe into recovery and flash a back up or pd15 img. Id take the battery out and let sit put it back in and see what happens.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
yeah....
i took out the battery and let it sit for a while, now i can turn my phone back on again!!! just flashed the cm7, everything seems running fine now. Thanks for all the help so far.
BTW, i did a quadrant test, it seems the score is similar with my previous stock 2.2.1 rom, it is about 1650. I guess this is a bit low from what i read in the forum.
Yeah you can go to settings then cm settings and under performance you can over clock a little bit and get really high score. or under clock for better battery life. mine will score in the 2k range when over clocked.
Just be careful over clocking can cause stress on the processor and damage it.
Glad its working for ya!

Hey guys!
I have updated my gt540 from original 2.1 (without fastboot) to 2.3.2 (cyanogen mod 7.0.0 with all stuff that was needed). Since update from 1.6 to 2.1 and then to 2.3.2 I have problems with my sd card. It's Kingston 16gb micro sdhc card. I often get messages "Sd card unexpectedly removed" and then "mounting" immediately after turning on screen. The problem is, that (I think) it happens this removal happens sometimes during preparing card for android and it has made my sd card useless (needed to reformat it, losing all data). This is getting annoying, because of my data and 7gb of music I need to copy every time it's broken, and it happens once-twice every month. I checked slot for sd and put a piece of paper to push card further. Didn't work. So my first question: is it because of android or hardware? Or maybe sd card is too big for this phone?
And another question: is it possible to "revert" my phone to original 2.1 without fastboot?(To make phone look not altered by me [guarantee]) (Of course by 'revert' I mean installing new rom from lg).
I'm little tired with this 2.3.2, it's sometimes rebooting without reason and this particular rom has many apps I don't need.
Also will themes, that are posted here (for 2.1) work with fabric 2.1?
And if not, could you show me a clean rom which will work fast? Also, working radio is appreciated.
Clean ROM
Well... Here's a clean ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1182804
Do you want fastboot after flashing the Stock 2.1 ROM?
I had similar problems with card on earlier versions of 2.3.x. I would recommend trying SwiftDroid, it has Android 2.3.5 and some tweaks for SD cards. Since installing that ROM I hadn't a single issue with storage.
Size of the card shouldn't be a matter, because GT540 can use up to 32 GB.
Clean ROMs
Clean ROMs doesn't always mean it's faster. I could be at some times. You could mod CM7 to bypass the speed of a clean ROM. Swiftdroid is not a clean ROM unlike AOSP Froyo which is "Pure Android". I've heard that AOSP Froyo has better battery performance than Swiftdroid, but I'm not sure :/

I'll give froyo a try and then, if problem persists I'd want to flash it to stock 2.1 without fastboot and maybe I'll give it to service.
After I flash it to 2.2 you posted what should I do to get rid of fastboot? Just run lg update which will do everything?
ed: Wait, is fastboot just an application for windows and it's by default on every device and I got it wrong with clockwork mod?
Fastboot
Fastboot is used on a device from a computer. You can't use fastboot without a device with fastboot. There's no fastboot on the LG GT540's stock ROM. You need to flash a Fastboot ROM to use fastboot from your computer. Clockwork Recoverymod is a modification to your device that can enable you to flash and backup your ROMs without the need of a computer.

Do you mean that the 'Phone' app can't read your SD card.
Isn't everything used by the 'Phone' application on the Stock 2.1 ROM from the internal memory?
Yes, the phone does not detect the SDcard.
I can not install applications on the card as if it were not for a SDcard.
Dismount
You can take out your SD card and put it back in. See if that does anything.

It also has been trying. Several cards we tried already.
Physical problem
It could be a physical problem, you should go to the place you bought it from and tell them to fix it. You could try re-flashing a ROM and see what happens.

Defect
Hmm... maybe it's problem with the SD card tray. You should take it to the store.

I once managed to set up. An hour later, was sick again.
I recently got the HD2 and I rooted, and installed android to Nand with MAGDLR or whatever. I get bad battery life though, and bad reception. Also the screen blacks oit after I make a call so I have to reboot the device to get rid of it. Help plz
Sent from my LG-VM670 using Tapatalk
Try posting in the thread pertaining the mod you tried to flash?
I would suggest using the hd2 toolkit and do a task 29 wipe followed by a fresh install of magdlr and flash latest radio. Then try a rom that is reported to have good battery life.
I am at the moment using sensationxl 2.5 and all seems nice and smooth upto now and with good battery life.
Keep practicing and trying out different roms etc.
I have flashed my hd2 1000's of times and yet would still class myself as a noob!.
Good Luck!!
I updated the radio about 3 days ago to 2.15, I'm runny Runnymede Sense 3.5 I think, but no matter what I do I get bad reception. The battery life drains about 2% every 3 minutes. I have no bars in my area atm, but when I do, It's full or 3 with the H sign. Also on any rom I try, I get a black screen after making a call. After the call, the screen stays black, and the hard keys stay lit up. I tried Miui, Energy rom, ICS, and now Runnymede or whatever....
i originally tried going NAND, but ended up almost bricking my phone. i reloaded all stock WinMo and went the SD card android builds. i actually love it and love the flexibility of just loading a rom whenever i want.

I use to do that, Running android off SD card, but after the second time, it now says " (File).exe is not a proper file " or something similar to that. I tried formatting SD card, re copying it to sd card. Non worked.

ok my evo has been messing up alot lately. it all started with the front camera like 2 weeks ago the front camera does not work at all and certain roms will not boot. i flashed roms almost every week and always superwiped and everything. i am using Amon RA 3.11 right now i am running MetrogenMod (CM7). Yesterday my phone was in a bootloop that would only boot at the splash screen and reboot over and over again. It became a "usb brick" and it wouldnt detect the sd in recovery but i was able to fix it using adb in fastboot with this guide. flashed the rom all over and now its working except for the ffc. i think some of the files in the internal memory are corrupted but i have not been able to find anything to fix it. i have flashed many roms, RUU, updated radios. i am running out of ideas. Can anyone help me?
my phone:
s-off
revolutionary
Hboot 6.16.1002
radio: 2.15.00.0808
HW: 004
by the way the roms i can run are: Radiance(sense 3.5), Energy (sense3.5) MIUI ICS, CM7.1, CM7.2 rc1, Metrogenmod, stock, 4korners,
this roms only boot up for 3 minutes and then reboot over and over every 3 minutes (yes they boot correctly but as i am trying to set it up it reboots): MIUI GB, rainy day, TN shooter rom for evo 4g
Try doing a fresh install with re formatting your sd card as well. Use Amon Ra to format sd and upgrade to ext 3.
Of course back up what you want on sd, but remember, not all data transfers from one version of android to another well. i.e. app data from gb won't function well on ICS and the opposite too.
Though ultimately, it could be a hardware failure. In which case take out to Sprint and get it replaced... That is about all you can do at that point.
