[Q] Restoring Data - Epic 4G General

When restoring Data via advanced restore on CWM, do you need to boot up first after flashing a new rom? Or can you just advanced restore your data right after you flashed the new rom zip?
(for DK28 btw)

NAND Backup question

Quick question, when I do a nand backup on the Fascinate, does that backup the kernel as well?
I know on the eris, if I was to flash a new rom and kernel, and didn't like that rom, all I had to do was wipe the data and cache, and restore the backup and I would be done, is that the same on the fascinate?
No, all it backs up is the rom and your data.
On a related note, is it possible to do a backup of the entire phone (ROM, kernel, data) so that it can be re-flashed / recovered via Odin?
I had an issue last night where I had to restore an old backup with CWM / ROM Manager, because of a buggy and unstable kernel that I had installed. And the phone was completely unstable / unusable after the restore from backup. I had to flash back to complete stock DL09 via Odin, and was wondering whether there was a way for me to create my own Odin image if this happens again.

[Q] Restoring a CWR Backup?

I have made a CWR backup of my rooted 1.1 stock rom with all my installed apps. I tried out the new 1.2 update and then tried to restore my backup. Everytime I connect to Wifi I get a message about problem authinticating and having to reflash to stock. How can I get my backup to restore correctly? Wipe data/cache? Won't that take out all my apps? Or am I stuck going back through 1.1 stock, autonooter, install apps/titanium restore?

Advanced Restore from clockworkmod to another ROM?

I am planning on installing a custom ROM, currently I am running stock one. Anyways, I was reading online that some people had problems with Titanium backup restore so I was wondering if it would be possible for me to do a backup using clockworkmod and then restore the data partition ONLY using Advanced Restore option to restore my apps and data.
I think clockworkmod is more reliable.
Will this work? since I will be using different ROM's?
Thanks.

Can't restore stock rom backup from TWRP (SM-G900F)

Hello,
before I played around with getting root and flashing custom roms, I backup everything in Samsung Smart Switch.
After getting root and install TWRP, I backup the whole system (except the recovery partition) to the external sd-card from TWRP.
Now - after getting some experience with custom roms - I will go back to the stock rom from my TWRP-Backup. Set everything to factory default, wipe cache and dalvik and press restore. Select my backup... swipe to flash... everything seems ok. After reboot - no bootloop - a thousands of alert-messages pops up "blabla-app stopped"... Then appears only a black screen.
How can i restore my backup from TWRP? Or is there a stock-rom, so i can backup from smart switch? My System is a LRX21T.G900FXXU1BOJ1
Thanks alot!
Try clearing the caches from recovery and boot again
If it fails, try wiping everything again, then restore all partitions except DATA
See if it boots
If it boots - either reinstall apps etc manually, or use TiBu to restore the DATA partition
I've got it!
I flashed a stock rom with odin and restore with smart switch. Some settings are missing, but i think 90% is restored
Nice job

Backup TWRP

Guys, do TWRP backups work well? I still have the stock and I made a backup of the rom with TWRP, if you install a custom and if you want to go back to the stock, just format data and do the wipes cache date and system, and install the backup?
