Backup TWRP - Asus ZenFone 3 Questions & Answers

Guys, do TWRP backups work well? I still have the stock and I made a backup of the rom with TWRP, if you install a custom and if you want to go back to the stock, just format data and do the wipes cache date and system, and install the backup?

You're confounding variables here... you're trying to use TWRP like Titanium (apps/data).
TWRP (like CWM) is a MONOLITHIC backup system, pretty much everything gets restored. Titanium is GRANULAR... and selected apps/data are restored WITHIN the ROM you've just flashed... not OVER THE TOP of the ROM, as you've just attempted to do... which will cause no end of problems.
--------
Here's what I would do.... restore your NANDROID backup as normal (factory reset, etc.)... Get TITANIUM from PlayStore. Backup your apps/data using that.
Flash your ROM... restore your apps/data using TITANIUM.

Contacts/SMS Restore CWM

Hi All,
Hopefully someone can help, I've just installed cyanogenmod, I wiped cache and dalvik and naively assumed that would suffice to be a clean install of CM, before I did the install I also naively assumed TiBu would backup my SMS/Contacts etc before I wiped, turns out this wasn't the case.
I did however take a CWM backup before I wiped the data, but after I installed CM, so I've got a backup of my data, just not a working backup of my rom.
Is there any way of restoring SMS and Contacts from the CWM backup?

TWRP Recovery not working.

I just rooted my phone yesterday and I tried to delete a TWRP backup that was on my internal memory. I was unable to find out how to do it and set permissions in TWRP, which caused my phone to start booting with unable to start messages and a black screen. I tried restoring a backup and I wiped and restored, both have still same issue.
So at the moment I can start TWRP or factory reset, but as of yet, I cannot restore my backup.
When I backed up the phone I didn't select everything, I left out data.
Since you didn't backup your data, they are a few options. Wipe dalvik and cache from recovery, dirty flash a rom, clean flash a rom.

I was using an old version of twrp. I updated to 2.8.6.0 and it all works now, thanks.

Can't restore stock rom backup from TWRP (SM-G900F)

Hello,
before I played around with getting root and flashing custom roms, I backup everything in Samsung Smart Switch.
After getting root and install TWRP, I backup the whole system (except the recovery partition) to the external sd-card from TWRP.
Now - after getting some experience with custom roms - I will go back to the stock rom from my TWRP-Backup. Set everything to factory default, wipe cache and dalvik and press restore. Select my backup... swipe to flash... everything seems ok. After reboot - no bootloop - a thousands of alert-messages pops up "blabla-app stopped"... Then appears only a black screen.
How can i restore my backup from TWRP? Or is there a stock-rom, so i can backup from smart switch? My System is a LRX21T.G900FXXU1BOJ1
Thanks alot!
Try clearing the caches from recovery and boot again
If it fails, try wiping everything again, then restore all partitions except DATA
See if it boots
If it boots - either reinstall apps etc manually, or use TiBu to restore the DATA partition
I've got it!
I flashed a stock rom with odin and restore with smart switch. Some settings are missing, but i think 90% is restored
Nice job

How to switch partitions to F2FS filesystem?

Title says it all!
I know that this should be done trough TWRP recovery but, what i need?
Backups?
Kernel with F2FS support?
ROM with F2FS support?
SuperSU can cause any problems?
Thanks in the advance for your time!
UP!
No one interested?
Ok this how i do it. It works out well for me but some get asked for an encryption pw.
Go into twrp recovery that supports f2fs
Wipe everything, format normally
Flash rom compatible with f2fs
Flash GApps
Flash kernel compatible with f2fs
Flash SuperSU
Wipe cache/dalvic
Boot into android startup screen
Reboot into recovery
Make a nandroid backup
Trasnfer nandroid backup to pc
Wipe/format again normally
Select data, then change file system, then change data to f2fs
Transfer nandroid backup back to phone
Restore nandroid backup
factory reset wipe
Reboot
Profit.
