Hey everyone! I'm new to xda, and was wondering if someone can either point me in the right direction or port a rom for me. I owned the cliq up until I just got my g2 from my bro (not happy about it, he switched carriers. Bros misfortunes landed me an AWESOME phone! Yay me) and was wondering if there exists a blur rom for the g2. Thanks in advance guys and girls!
why would you taint your g2 with motopoop?
I don't think anyone would try to spread out that crap to custom roms.
WHY???? Get a stock sense 2.1 rom and you'll have favs which is better than motoblur. Don't know if 2.2 has favs. Not a sense lover.
Hey, there is nothing wrong with liking MotoBlur, I always liked the look of the Droid X so I customized my G2 to look kind of Moto. I use Beautiful Widgets from the market, there is a Blur style clock you can download. I changed my wallpaper to a droid wallpaper, and now my G2 looks like a Droid...

I made the mistake of buying my Lady that POS Cliq. She is on her 4th phone now. Even after the 2.1 update she's still having issues with motopoop. I'll stick with Sense any day.
sent from my G2 with Sense running @ 1.4Ghz
Coming from Moto Cliq the first motoblur phone, I simply say "why!?!?!?"
Come on guys, can you try and be constructive? While motoblur is not for everyone the OP asked a reasonable question. No need to be abusive and insulting.
As of this moment I am not aware of anyone attempting to port the motoblur interface to the G2. The motoblur interface is not particularly well liked on XDA (as you might have noticed) so I would not expect it anytime soon. In general the battle for the hearts and minds of users on XDA is between sense and stock/custom launchers.

Yeah, the OP's first post might be his last, and who could blame him. This anti-Blur stuff is stupid. I had the Droid 2 for awhile and the Blur widgets worked just fine. They are resizable too, Sense can't do that as far as I know. I even like the ultra plain look of Blur widgets on top of the industrial Droid wallpaper. It has grown on me and I prefer it to the polished look of Sense.
Sooo, if any devs want to take a crack at porting MotoBlur onto the G2, I will donate a beer
I think even trying to port this would be more stress than anything.
Hell, MOTO is struggling enough with upgrading the cliq xt to 2.1! The official motorola support forum had to close the first *official* 2.1 update thread due to stability issues affecting the site from all the complaint posts! Seriously lol.
Forgot to reason with the new motoblur that is being used on the newer droid phones, it may be less intrusive than the original so who's to say it can't.
This is why all Android phones need to be compatible with vanilla Android.
Just get ADW Launcher or LauncherPro and customize it to look like MotoBlur. The loss of performance (and waste of time making a MotoBlur ROM) isn't worth it.

It does not have hard keyboard. You can see these images. I hate this design. G1 is better. G2 design is the best.
I don't really get their strategy. They realease the G1: Kind of boring specs, but all is good. Then the Magic/Sapphire, which kind of makes sense; a G1 with better design and no physical keyboard. Then they release this? What's the point? From the looks of it it's just a slightly modified Sapphire with (maybe) a 3.5mm jack and no trackball.
Come on now, mix it up a little, HTC. Give us something different, like a HUGE screen like the Touch HD (only with capacitive TS), or a Palm Pre type of slider.. anything, as long as it's something different.
AGREED X 1000000000^100000000
i dont get it at all.... i know i personally wont even consider changing my g1 for anything w/o a physical keyboard, but id at least like to see some different designs.... even samsung went for slim no keyboard look....
UGLY!!! Design, common!!! HTC be creative.
hideous......
I really dislike the chin on all these HTC phones, I find it unattractive and obstructive when using the phone. They should ditch those chins and go for a more sleek design. Looking at that phone from the back reminds me of my dad's phone from around 15 years ago...
alot of reviews said the g1 was ugly when it first came out but that thing is really ugly
Agreed, mannyb, I'm liking the VK on the Cupcake release, but every once in a while I'll need to slide out the keyboard to touch some physical buttons. Until touchscreens can also mold and raise/lower to form semi-physical buttons, I think I need a keyboard that I can feel my way around.
I've used a completely-touchscreen phone before, and the input sucks if you're tired or uncoordinated for a day.
i thought that G3 was made by Huawei...and heard that g3's appearance will look like an iphone with no keyboard

is it due to not a lot of people having the phone ? inexperienced devs? even the roms that exist have one thing or another that doesnt function properly...there only seems to be one solid rom for sure and the rest are just ehh...just trying to figure this out im coming from a device that had so many roms i didnt know what to do and on this side theres really only 3 or 4 choices. is this a froyo deal?lack of people with the units or what?
My best guess would be most devs are waiting for froyo to drop since it should be soon.

Its tuff to dev something knowing froyo us coming. I started my theme to be used on my rom but decided not to cook a rom. It well be easy to port my theme for use with froyo. A 2.1 rom ported to 2.2 us hard. It would be easier to start from scratch with a froyo build

Its the same thing that happened with the moment, almost no dev support. 1 because its a Samsung, 2 because it was the second 4g phone, 3 because its $50 more.
The Evo community is thriving though.
Look at the Moment forum on sdx-developers, then look at the Hero forum here on XDA. Same thing for the Epic vs Evo.

I really hope people will develop for Epic, I really enjoyed the ROMs on Evo. But I liked this one better, hope I didn't make a big mistake! Oh well, I haven't even rooted this one yet, maybe Ill just give it a rest for a while. I know my wife will like that. Don't mean to insult the devs, you're all we got, just wish more people had this phone.

I concur, in a perfect world this phone (which I am getting tomorrow) would be so great that I wouldn't flash rom after rom for little things such as percentage battery mod or something. I would flash roms because it looked slightly different than the previous. and always felt like something was missing. I hope i can just be satisfied with the roms and such that are available for the Epic.
Don't worry u will have plenty of devving for epic. It will not be as much as evo though as evo has much more devs and is more popular and has been out longer. But we will have quality not quantity and after froyo we will see more devving. Most devs don't wanna waste time if the update is coming in less than a month (hopefully).

Calling all Galaxy S II users.
How many of you would like to see the HTC Sense 3.0 in your S II?
If you would like to see it then post here. So that we can have the attention some brilliant devs who would want to work on it.
Come on guys its your chance to make your Galaxy S II look even better with Sense UI.
PLEASE DON'T POST THINGS LIKE USING A LAUNCHER ETC. THIS IS TO HAVE THE ORIGINAL SENSE UI ON S II NOT ANY LAUNCHERS.
Reserved
This is reserved for later
Well it would be nice to have the choice, but its not going to happen. They are struggling to get a functional CM7 on the SGSII, a functional Sense is an impossibility. But definitely would be nice...

I like it very much!
great but how?
Not really, i would have bought a Sensation if i wanted Sense
I really like HTC sense! A great thanks in advance if you can bring "sense" to SGS2.
Thanks.
I hate it too. That's one of two reasons why i'm now with SGS2 and not HTC Sensation. I liked previous versions of Sense, but starting with Sense 2.1 they messed up app draver, sms app and so on. Sense 3 is a complete overbloated-missunderstanding.
If next HTC phone *will* have 4 gigs or RAM, i'm sure that 85% of it will be used by HTC bloatware. Just Windows Vista way.

anyway a sense UI with samsung remote functions would be great
I would like to have the option. But based on comments here, it's near to impossible.
I could make a "post here if you want WebOS" thread. XD

Get the sensation instead if you want the UI.
Thumbs up from me. Switching from Desire to SGS2, I missed Sense the most, with all its details... (such as the ability to choose between contact names/pics on phone or Facebook, larger contact pics, smarter dialer, smarter keyboard(especially in Asian languages),the tiny thing even to fade in/out at the top/bottom screen while you're reading, etc.)
It's a pity that HTC doesn't do good harware and tends to reserve top specs for later phones (still can't believe they are shipping their flagship with 7xxmb ram and 1g rom. while iPhone is already rumoring for 64g.)
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
I for one want it.
And to those who don't,I want to say this.Wouldn't it feel good if your super device could actually run everything?Being restricted to Samsung's firmware isn't the spirit of XDA.We should all like the possibility that would give us more things to choose between. If in the end it becomes available, only those who want it should install it.No one's forcing you.So why discourage development of something many will find great?

After having a Touch Diamond (with TouchFlo, which later became Sense), a Touch HD (with Sense) and then a HD2 (with Sense), the ONLY thing that Sense had going for it was Co0kie's Home Tab. As soon as I started using Android I laughed in the face of "Sense".
I have a DHD build 2.50 405.2 and what i heard is that my DHD will never get sense 3 without rooting it...
actually i dont care if i dont get sense 3 on my device but i'm very interested in only in the sense 3 lock screen
I was wondering if any of you that have the same interest maybe just maybe if we all write in to HTC and request it and maybe ... may consider giving us the sense 3 lockscreen in the next update they make....
just wondering...
what you think?
HTC have said that "some features" of Sense 3.0 will be put on devices other than the Sensation, so only time will tell.
Truth be told, the lockscreen is one of the things I don't like in Sense 3.
I prefer the slide across thumb slider type.

I agree with your last sentance. I think sense 3 lockscreen is the best on any phone, its so customizable
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Yeah I agree with you, it is customizable. I just don't like sliding my thumb up to unlock the phone. It's seems unnatural to me. I prefer sliding my thumb from left to right.
It probably all started with Slide 2 Unlock for Windows Mobile. (I never had an iPhone.) After a couple of years of that (with various roms) and then various roms on Android with or without Sense 2, there seems to be no benefit to sliding up or the expanding ring animation.
Still, I do like new tricks and we are lucky we can change to as many roms as we want, when we want, so we are all kept happy.
Peace `Young man'.
Old Dog.
As much as I'd like to have the Sense 3.0 lockscreen, I'm not too keen on upgrading to Ice Cream Sandwich to get it.
Why? Well its just that my DHD started lagging to a pretty nasty amount just after upgrading to Gingerbread, compared to the amount of lag on Froyo. Sure, I realize that just because 1 update was screwed-up, doesn't mean that every last one will be so. Also, my guess is that we're gonna see the same problem that the Desire is currently facing with the "insufficient memory".
Either way, would anyone apart from me want to wait till Ice Cream Sandwich for the new lockscreen?

I had the same problem, but then i rooted and flashed a custom rom, and my phone has never been faster!
If I were you, I would just root phone and flash custom ROM eg AR HD . Then download lockscreen add-on and flash :>
I have to admit that after now using Sense 3 for a few days with RCMix3D Aztec v1.0 (thread currently closed), I'm really enjoying the Sense 3 lockscreen (especially with the animated weather). Maybe it was just time for a change again, although this is the first time in ages where I hadn't flashed the next CyanogenMod7 [Nightly] rom. I'd still prefer to swipe my thumb across instead of up but - yeah, the lockscreen is growing on me.
it's been said before on another thread... the icons on the lockscreen should grow when you hold them to drag!

So after surfing the roms for 2 days to see which one suits me better
I came across the rom mexxdroid preghostchilli which is pretty cool its fast has a cool theme and some nice animations it also has this bootanimation thats awesome and it has sound
So i decided to keep it as my default rom until a new version comes out or the honeycomb port. Ecomes stable and fast

You will find someone with each ROM that's happy with it. Everyone has a different feel for what works for them. You don't want to use the ROM that they like, you should use the ROM that you like.
This thread has been created dozens of times with a myriad of answers already.
The above poster is absolutely correct. Each user will have individual tastes and desires out of a rom. I suppose all of this delves back into the ultimate issue of overall user experience. Perhaps why the CM line is so successful is that they unify that experience across a multitude of devices and generally make sure things work.
I'm very happy with Virtuous Sense v2.0.0

Calling one ROM "better" than another is an insult to the devs that work hard to give us these ROMs. Each ROM has its own merits. A better thing to ask would be "What is your favorite ROM?". Even so, there are many threads on this topic.

THANK YOU.
I always thought the Mexdroid/PyroMod p*ssing contest was extremely immature. I like the eye candy behind Mexdroid, but PyroMod has the speed.
I happen to like Virtuous G-Lite the best because it has the best battery life and it is definitely the lightest and fastest-performing ROM that I've tried. That being said it doesn't have a lot of the addition "features" and styles of other more custom ROMs but through the use of GO Launcher and just replacing a lot of the stock Android apps with others it is pretty much infinitely customizable. For instance, pretty much the only stock android app I still use is the phone dialer. I've replaced the messaging app, gallery, camera, launcher, and even browser (XScope is pretty awesome btw, thanks Amazon App of the Day).
That's just my two cents but it really is a personal preference.
The lastest Virtuous Unity beta. Seriously, the next stable version will be amazing...
Sense 3.0 run so smooth on this rom!
