[Q] A Problematic Problem - myTouch 3G, Magic General

Hey everyone, hope someone can help me out with my problem.
Heres my current spec

Following the steps from the above link, I set about trying to get 2.2 on my phone. I'm currently at the stage of completing my downgrade to Donut OTA (http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=807899), but receive failures when trying to apply the last update (2.2 OTA). I have lost all data connectivity and am unable to pass the 'Welcome to Android' screen due to my inability to login to my google account. 4 corner 'bypass method' doesn't appear to work and I'm somewhat stranded.
This being the case I am unable to reflash my recovery in order to move forward from here and unable to apply my nandroid backup. I downloaded an official RUU to try format my phone back to 1.6 but the executable refuses to recognise my phone via USB.Apologies if I'm missing an obvious step to bring my phone back but I'm not all experienced in doing this.
I nearly had some luck with an RUU through fastboot USB, but that also failed, asking for a correct customer ID, asking me to get the right RUU. 99% sure I had it.
Desperate for some help.
Any help would hugely be appreciated.

Signature Incorrect: Update Failed

Hey guys, I used to have root access, and was having some problems flashing any rom to my phone, so I decided to unroot my phone and start from scratch. I follower The Unlockr's guide to unrooting my phone. at this point I am unable to flash the proper Sappimg nbh / .zip to my phone. I get the error message. I have followed several tutorials no rooting and unrooting my phone, and I never remembered rooting being this difficult the first time I had to downgrade from 1.6. I have used my gold card, and as far as I can see the goldcard was created correctly. There isn't any kind of Sappimg that I can find that is signed or that I can use to get myself back on the right track. In the long run I want to be using Engineer SPL and Amon Ra's most recent recovery image. Also with my 32B board do I need to use the H or G recovery image from Amon Ra? If I try to fastboot a recovery image I get the error message that I cannot use remote. I've tried the Perfected SPL fix, and when I try to apply the SAPPIMG.zip, my phone displays "Model ID: incorrect" Can anyone help me out on this one?
*Side note on the Goldcard
Is my reversed CID supposed to be a HEX reverse or a string reverse?
and when I finish writing the goldcard image, is the lost.dir supposed to be on the memory card?
"Signature Incorrect
Update: Failed"

I may have skimmed over some of the details of my whole process, if you need anymore information feel free to PM me and I will respond and edit post.
Did you use Cyanogen Wiki manual to downgrade?
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.p...rom_1.6_TO_1.5__and_Rooting_for_T-Mobile_MT3G
Main Version is older
Went to the Wiki, and I wish I had found that one first so I wouldn't be in this mess But I will remember that page in the future so I can unroot my device with ease. When I try to apply that sappimg, I get the error message:
"Main Version is older!
Update Failed"
Any trick updates that will work for me to root this one? When I try Amon Ra's Perfected SPL trick, I cannot apply any of those updates unless I am trying to do it wrong.
Thank you in advance for helping me get this solved, I cannot tell you just how badly I may have screwed my device. I do have a working device for now, so no worries on unbricking a phone.
Bump
Has anyone found any solutions yet?
Go to IRC and ask for help.
SPL
I noticed that the stock SPL on the fender edition was 1.33.0013 SAPP 31000 and mine is SAPP 30000, should I try using unrooting methods for the fender editions?
hope u can solve it earlier
Mod. edit: not rom dev related, moved to general
Tried the MT3G fender rooting process and no love with it. Hboot finds the update and the blue bar comes up for a while and then continues searching for update images. Anyone who knows a little more on the subject of the Hboot information please look at my information and see if something is incorrect for an original MT3G that was supposed to be unrooted.
bump, Anyone have any more help?
Try this out.

uk vodafone HTC Magic / perfected SPL & remote: not allow!

Hi guys, dont know if I have asked this question in the right place, but here goes. I have had my magic 32b on Vodafone for 8 months, and for the last 6 I have been using Fatal1ty's hero/rosie rom with mainly satisfaction, after disabling the touch-flo home screen nonsense. There were a few issues that niggled me so I tried to hunt down a newer version. Somehow, after upgrading successfully to CM5 and liking the look, I backed up via nandroid and flashed a new rom. I am now stuck with a T-Mobile mt3g rom which wont let me get passed the google sign up screen, and my data package is not in service until monday.
here is what my details look like as of now......

I have read so many posts now that im not sure where to start. I would like to know if there is a SAPPimg available to overcome this problem, i cannot access phone via adb or fastboot as i have no custom recovery installed anymore and no access via fastboot as remote is not allowed!
My hair is turning ever greyer, any help would be amazing.
(already tried the goldcard routine with no avail, but maybe i did it wrong.)
Peace

Can i get some help with a VF Magic 32B?

Hey,
I have a Vodafone Magic 32B, which I am using with a Three simcard.
Yesterday, I started trying to root my device.
My device was running 1.6, so I tried to downgrade, following theunlockr. com/2009/08/14/how-to-root-your-mytouch-3g/
After many issues, I managed to get to stage 27.
Noticing that he linked to a 32A Driver, i instead tried to progress with the lastest AmonRa-Sapphire-V1.7.0G.img.
When this didn't work, I tried a few other versions that I had downloaded throughout my exploration of rooting.
At this point, it was 4.30 in the morning, and I decided to call it quits.
Luckily, i had made a nandroid backup.
I restored it, and, thank god, my phone booted.
However, it wasn't a restore as such.
The menu is different, the app store is different (and the camera is noticeably poorer).
However, checking the Firmware version, it says v1.5?!
1)Does this mean I successfully downgraded?
2)From here, how would i root the phone?
3)After i root the phone, is there any way to get back to the 1.6 interface? With a better camera (that can be accessed by apps)?
Thanks for any advice you can give. I'm aware that there may be loads of post like this, because i spent a good 12 hours yesterday sifting through the various methods. However, I would really appreciate any help, because I don't want to brick my new phone (i just got it, second hand, yesterday).
Figured that i'd post what pops up on the fastboot screen

[Q] Need help rooting MT3G with HBOOT 1.33.0007

Hello there,
I got a myTouch 3G recently, and I've been trying to root it. These are the details of my Android:

I've tried the Unlockr guide (my phone needs a goldcard apparently), the guide on XDA specifically for my SPL, Cyanogen Wiki, and few other threads I found on good old xda. I even found a thread on T-Mobile's forums. All to no avail. I keep getting the "Model ID Incorrect!" message.
What can I do? Anything I might be doing wrong? Perhaps not getting the right SAPPIMG.ZIP/SAPPIMG.NBH? I've come across 3 or 4 all with different sizes and of course md5 hashes.
I will gladly disclose any information required to root my phone and make me happy monkey.
Thanks for reading and any help is highly appreciated.
Edit: Android release is DMD64.
dmd64
Im having the same issue, every sappimg.nbh/zip i try has update fail issues. I was getting version older message. Then i made a goldcard and got adb working. Now im getting no image when i flash and it wont recognize the img to update it now the newest one i tried says signature fail. I have the mt3g firmware 1.6 dmd64 with hboot 1.33.0007. I have a kingston 2g goldcard after trying to make one on a sandisk 2g. I tried formatting goldcard and starting over. I beleive it works comp and phone recognize it. Does anyone know the trick or have the correct sappimg. I just want to downgrade so i can continue, 47 hours or so into this.... plzzzze

No goldcard needed. Just read everything and you should have root in 5 mins.

[Q] Trying to restore my phone back to official firmware.

A long time ago, I tried getting help on how to root my mytouch 3g 32b, but now, I just want it back to its most current but official firmware. Here's an opening post from a previous thread of mine:
A few months ago, I made a help thread on how to get my phone rooted after some roadblock. However, I didn't get any type of help whatsoever. So I decided to remain on the phone's base firmware for eternity. However, I decided to try again. Anyways, below is the opening post I made for that thread. I only included the parts I still have trouble on.
(i made sure to do a backup)
Let me sum up what I have done:
I've managed to follow a guide on a wiki(I lost the link however, since I ATTEMPTED to give up on this) that involved me downgrading my firmware, then do some steps to install cyanogen 1.4. Afterwards, I got to step that required me to rename some file to update.zip. I followed that step and noticed my computer didn't convert the file to a zip file(it remained as a img file) but continued anyway while finding that odd.
Afterwards, cyanogen tells me that it cannot find the zip file. I've search most of google and a bit of this site, and i've seen various solutions that failed me such as:
-renaming the update.zip to update
-using android sdk(which i have no clue on how to use)
So if you managed to read my long and boring story, let me ask one question:
How do I get my phone back to normal if rooting is impossible at this point?

Whenever I try to do a firmware update from the phone itself,(it's stuck in its base 1.5 firmware right now) it keeps taking me to CyanogenMod's 1.4 + jf screen, thus indirectly stopping the update. What to do?
Start the phone by pressing volume down + power button and copy the exact information of your device (32A or 32B, HBOOT, SAPP, CPLD, RADIO) and using that information search or ask for the original sappimg.zip for that particular device.
Then just copy the sappimg.zip directly to the sdcard. Start the phone by pressing volume down + power button until the bootloader shows. Follow the instructions to proceed updating your phone and you will get stock firmware.
I get stock firmware using that method, my device info is:

I hope that helps.

I found something from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1519929
and renamed the zip file that was posted later on into update.zip(not update.zip.zip). However, This is what happens:
-Install from sd card...
-Finding update package...
-Opening update package...
-Verifying update package...
E:No signature (173 files)
E: Verification failed
Installation aborted.
I don't know why it wouldn't work.

That post says that official stock rom (FRG83) is required before flashing the update.
Did you try this?
http://www.4shared.com/file/jp8lUl2T/SAPPIMG_Sapphire_TMUS_1885311_.html
It is supposed to be for 32B, HBOOT-1.33.0006 and radio 2.22.19.261
Once downloaded copy it to the sdcard, follow the above instructions for sappimg, this time make sure the extension is nbh but the procedure is the same.
Let us know the results.
It seems things went swimmingly(at the cost of my contacts since I forgot to backup...)
I'm still at the base firmware of 1.5 though. When I try to do a firmware update from the settings, it says my system is currently up to date...Is that really the current? I could've sworn there was a newer one in existence.

These devices are long forgotten from manufacturers, they don't get updates anymore. However, you could try
to get froyo manually.
First, erase the previous sappimg file from the sdcard so you don't have to wait the whole process of scanning and asking if you want to update (you did that already).
Download this to your PC:
http://www.4shared.com/file/j64ygA9t/RUU_Sapphire_T-Mobile_US_31253.html
(RUU_Sapphire_T-Mobile_US_3.12.531.1_FRG83D_release_signed)
This will update to version 3.12.531.1, HBOOT to 1.33.0013 and RADIO to 2.22.28.25
Boot your phone to bootloader again, press the <back> key and you will be in fastboot mode.
Connect the phone to pc, the phone will highlight "FASTBOOT USB".
Disable your antivirus and execute the RUU as administrator, it should update to FRG83D.
Let me know if that works.
It updated without trouble. Thank you very much for assisting me with a problem i've been having for almost a year.
Happy to hear that, good luck.
