The reason i put this in the developers section is because I'm sure they've run into these issues.
I am currently running the new white widow "Phoenix". I am OC'ing at 710.
ISSUES:
Screen wont wake. I have to pull the battery and reboot.
If I tap the phone on a table on the top left corner of the device (lightly) it shuts off.
Sometimes I go to wake the screen and it reboots. Somehow having turned off.
I hit the home button and all I see is the status bar and a blank rest of screen.
I've tried froyo roms as well as a couple 2.1s and all of these have occurred on each rom. Help? Thanks in advance.

based upon that statement, personally, i think your phone (hardware) is jacked. i've used just about EVERY ROM in existence... never had any of the issues you described.
i've even dropped my phone on concrete, tables, etc... no shut-offs, etc.
probably not what you want to hear, but i'd probably flash a fairly stock ROM, see if still happens. if so, probably time to get a refurb/warranty replacement!

WHY WOULDN'T YOU POST THIS IN ITS OWN THREAD? WW has its own thread ask the developer of the rom, this is getting out of hand. it is a specific issue with a specific rom please help keep the forum clean.
sorry for snapping i know your new but next time please, this should be kept to its own thread.

Sorry dude (I think your a dude, anyway) but read the whole post from the top he said he tried it on many roms and it happen in all of them so its not rom specific
if this is happening on multiple roms, and with the issue you described with the phone acting up if it gets tapped, my advice would be to 1 try a stock rom and see if it still happens and 2 if it does call vzw or the insurance company and get another phone. because to me also it sounds as if its a hardware problem, not a software (rom) problem
what really sucks is that I just got a replacement because the trackball broke :/. I'm think it might be the extended battery I have shaking loose a little. That would do it I suppose. Thanks for the replies. And I apologize to the user who wants the forum clean. Not only did I try it on multiple roms but I knew I'd get more replies if I posted it here.

Also I've heard of others having the screen wake bug. Where it doesn't turn on the lockscreen at all. Is there something I could flash to fix it?

I just put in the original battery and and back. So far no random shutting off or shutting off when it taps something hard. Will update.

My phone lights up for no reason.. I always have it in Android but never in Winmo, and its not build,rom or radio related. Anyone an idea why this is happening?

What lights up? screen? notification light? hardkeys?
Well let's see:
-Never in Winmo: that's mean your hardware works
-It's not build (Android build), rom(WM rom), or radio related. if you said so, there is nothing else to take the fall for.
Conclusion: ghost.
yes a ghost, now let's get real enough fooled around.
My backlight jumps on every now and then, in android, I'm currently using the disire HD rom, but I noticed it on other roms too, that my screen lights up for no reason at all. I woke up a few times when my phone led up, don't know what is causing it.. when charging it does it, I don't know if it does it when it's in my pants, I hope not, but I'm not sure, that could cause battery drain.

+1 on this one.. I have the same issue, and I don't think it's because of battery drain, because I've had it light up both when the battery is outside the notification-range (even 70%+) and when the phone is charging.
I have thought that it might be related to wifi falling out and temporarily connecting to mobile and back, but I have yet to see evidence of this.
Hopefully someone else have this "problem" (more an annoyance really ) and that we can get some more data on when or why it's happening.
It is not because of wifi because I disable it at night
Have you think of any apps that you installed can trigger that?
Setcpu maybe? Otherwise I have no idea

Search through this thread. The answer should be on the first pages, don't remember. Sorry
And you could also try using another kernel like hastarin. He always includes this file.

ROM - Energy.Leo.21916.Sense2.5.Dec.20.7z
ANDROID BUILD - NexusHD2-FRG83D_V1.8_(Froyo 2.2.1).7z
RADIO - 2.10.50.26
I have a problem, my phone is working absolutly beautiful exept for one BIG problem, when i connect my phone to de AC the screen gets disturb, gets all twisty and just like loosing signal in an old Tv; scrambled, and it zooms in and you cant do nothing with it; i have to soft reset to WM; THIS ONLY HAPPENS IN ANDROID;
IT STARTS WHEN I CONNECT MY PHONE TO CHARGE; WHEN I DISCONNECT IT THE PROBLEM DOES NOT GO IMMEDIATELY; i will like to fix this problem with this build because i really like it; if you havent tried it you should !
Try a different charger. You might not have a constant charge which freaks out yourphone.

alright; im booting android now to try another charger;
The charger is not causing the problem. The problem is only with android. I have notice that the phone charges and works via USB charging.
at least recommend me a good android build to try out; please.
tried with another android build ( MDJ Revolution HD) and the problem still persist; another observation is that the problem occurs with USB charging too;but only from my PC; with my MAC is charging and works good; EDIT: ISNT WORKING WITH MAC NEITHER! im going to change ROM and see what happens;
----------
MDJ Revolution HD lets you connect you PS3 by wifi Tether with stock ROM the PS3 didnt recognize the network; thats cool
well; i flashed another ROM (Energy.Leo.28244.Titanium.Dec.21) and still having the problem; if it makes it easier i can make a video to show you guys the problem; and i would like to know whats the best ROM for running Android?
-----------------
Another observation is that it does it when its no charging but not as bad; when not charging i just tuch and scroll the menus and that prevents the scrambling and zooming of the screen; Another observation is that when i plugged in fast to AC it gets scrambled; when i insert the plug slowly something called USB debugging turns on and it doent get scrambled rapidly; but in the morning it was all scrambled again.
Another observation; i captured a photo of the screen using an app from the phone; and the photos werent scrambled; im beggining to think that is a hardware problem but i dont know because it only happens in Android maybe a some resolution problem that makes the phone react like this?
Another observation is that it happens too without being connected but very little scrambling;
im going to hard reset my phone and format my SD card;
Hard reset; New ROM; Full formatting the SD card; and the problem still persist. Now it does it when the phone goes to sleep; charging or not; it does it anyway now.
i have updated the Radio to 2.12.50 and still have the problem, i know that theres no interaction with the radio and the screen; but i want to try everything.
come on ! theres a lot of geniuses here ! somebody most know whats wrong;
another observation; it a lot better with the brightness set to 100%. but i cant run with this because im always using my phone; so my battery will drain in less than 5 hours. it get scrambled when i connect it to any source of electricity;
Now runnign NAND and the problem still persist.
Hello guys,
I have this very annoying issue right now. I'm running Hyperdroid on my HD2 but I had the problem with all builds so far. I have two batteries for convinience and it seems like everytime I remove the battery and put the new one in the time on my phone changes.
Even more weird, it changes to the time and date when the battery was pulled out. So if I used the battery until yesterday 10am, the same time and date will appear again.
There is no difference beween using 'use network provided values' or not. I'm using China Mobile, but also had this problem while traveling in India and Iran. It just doesn't sync...
Does anybody know how to fix this? It's very annoying especially if you rely on the alarm clock or even when you get text messages and they go back in time and you wonder where they go.
ive had this happen to be, its a rom issue withthe rom you are using
i used to get around it by using a time sync program from the market
Okay, I'm going to try a different rom first. Thanks!
Got the same issue myself
Just check the time after putting the battery back in I imagine you don't pull the battery every day?
I recently wiped all of my phone (factory+cache) and installed the latest 4.0.3 official update from SAMSUNG.
I also enabled the FULL DISK ENCRYPTION while doing this.
I am now waiting to decrypt it to see if this problem persits if I turn the encryption off.
The problem is that if I leave my phone locked for a few hours/minutes it randomly won't turn on the screen again, when I press the power button.
A hard reboot (holding) fixes this everytime. But this is not a fix, we all know.
It never happened on Gingerbread 2.3.5.
I am beginning to suspect there's a bug in the ICS firmware, although it's 4.0.3, it could slip through.
It's hard to say what's causing the trouble. I have connected the phone to USB now. Waiting for the symptom to show again. I assume I can get a good logcat.
adb shell logcat > logcat.txt
So I'm waiting for an error / event of POWER button at this moment, and will keep logging till it produces the same error again.
Regards,
That's called the black screen of death. It's an ICS bug. For now, rebooting seems to be the only solution ice seen on xda.

I can't believe this ! Is this a SAMSUNG or an Android/ICS problem ?
My version is:
4.0.3
IM74K.XXLPQ
Any custom ROMs addressed this issue or how can you avoid this on ICS? Is the only solution to go back to Gingerbread ?
Hi guys, hope your well.
I am having a similar issue too. I am on Hydrogen AOKP Rom, and I get exactly the same. However, apart from just the blank screen, my phone gets extremely hot too.The only way to get it back on is to remove the battery. Very annoying!!
I cant seem to figure what it is. I have tried to search here on XDA for the resolution but to no avail. Could it be the Kernal? The Modem? Tweaking via SetCPU? or a combination of all? Atleast if I could get pointed to the right direction that'll be a start! lol
Are you guys getting the overheating problem too?
Its a bit like continual posting in the wrong forum nobody knows why ??

No overheating (yet) you can help if you can keep logcatting through usb cable till it lock/standby freezes and your screen won't come on when pressing power ..
Install SDK + Drivers, write in commandprompt:
adb shell logcat > save.txt
Wait for the error / freeze where screen won't come on.
Then paste here or upload somewhere might contain a lead to a solution!

It's a kernel issue. I had exactly the same problem. Flash the latest siyah kernel that should sort it out. I went through 10 different Roms till I worked it out

Nah!
It's there on all the kernels. I myself am a Siyah user.
I moved back to GB for this weird and terribly serious issue, but that time i didn't know it was a common problem.
This is ICS' best feature for sure.
I really CAN NOT believe how this issue is NOT yet known well and haven't brought in to front line. Google knows about it and yet I haven't seen any official statements about it. How ****in unbelievable or not perhaps? Google way?? Well **** it.
Utter Nonsense. What i wonder is, really, does any Android user actually use the phone but show off only??
I can almost reliably reproduce this problem.
I'm on ICS LP7 stock XEU version. When I have downloads running with Ttorrent, there's an almost 50% chance that the screen will not turn on once it goes to sleep. The phone is not frozen as my downloads continue to run; just that nothing is being shown on the display. If you hold the volume down button you will feel the phone vibrate to tell you it went into silent mode, which means the phone didn't freeze. After about a minute or so if I try again everything will work as normal, until I put the screen to sleep again.

Do the logcat as I provided the correct command to extract it to a file.
Then do your torrent thing, and make it crash- so we can debug !
Used to happen, since I installed latest hydrog3n-ICS rom (13-05) never had those again!
have you uv your phone so much?
i tried to uv my phone so much, and it can't turn on screen when i lockscreen about 1min

Hi,
It happened to me as well after the ICS update and I tried to plug the AC charger to see what happens, and surprise...the screen turned on .
It's not a fix (especially when away with no accessories) but it's better than nothing, hope this helps; also you should try plugging the USB cable. Tell me if it helps.
Thanks,

Yep,I mean under volting, you need to look your kernel, and I think it doesn't work fine because your kernel has under volting so much.

Reading around and installing load monitor from play store should fix this until a better solution is found

Best solution is to stay on GB because is more stable, until ICS gets better cooked!
