Hi all,
I am reasonably new to the android scene, having had an iPhone since the day one, my iPhone 4 was recently stolen, and I took the brave decision to replace it with a HTC Desire.
I have just rooted my HTC desire using UnrEVOked, and it was successful.. now I am interested in loading a custom ROM, and after looking around briefly, have noticed that the Desire HD ROM has caught my eye (after seeing a video of it running on the Desire).
I like the extra features that Desire HD has that make the phone more usable in my opinion.
I understand how to load ROMs but I am struggling to find where I can locate this ROM, and does it have to be a version of the ROM specifically designed for the HTC desire?
Any help would be appreciated!
(By the way, I have already attempted to use the "Search" feature of the forum, but it seems the search feature is currently down. "Search is not available at the moment")
Thanks!
the best HD rom currently would be RCMixHD

if you have already rooted your phone with unrevoked clockwork mod should be installed
enter recovery mode and flash the zip file or if you refer a GUI approach use ROM manager
Exactly what I was looking for!
Thankyou very much for sharing your knowledge!

Greetings.
I've been reading around the internet about all those ROMs floating around, and all i've found is it that the HERO ROM for the Magic should be great. Yet i can't see what the advantages of upgrading is. Could anybody please enlighten me?
The only advantage I see from upgrading to a hero rom is that you get the sense ui, and the ui runs faster on the magic than the g1.
Just a word of warning that bluetooth does not work on Hero roms, if you have a 32B Magic.
There are a lot of advantages though, root access being the main one which will allow you to do wifi tethering and access areas you would not normally be able to access, which is useful for taking backups and screenshots among other things. Custom roms here will (usually) also give you better performance than stock roms through compcache or using a swap file or swap partition on your sd card. Probably the biggest advantage IMO is getting to try out the latest available stuff for Android months before it gets pushed to you by your mobile carrier. There is no hint of a release date for Android 2.0 for HTC Magic yet but you can download a rom from here and try it out today if you wanted to.
I've read that the HERO ROM brings Flash to the Magic as well, is that correct?
And yet another question, i've got a danish Magic, 32A with HTC written on the backside, what HERO ROM should i use?
hi guys,
sorry if this is a stupid question, only just found this forum today.
I've seen the HTC desire HD running the new android 2.2 and it looks pretty cool. I've also seen this running on the HTC HD2 on you tube.
My question - who is running android 2.2 on their HD2? Is it stable and worth running? where can I find out how to do this (i.e. like a guide for dummies like me!)
cheers

hi,
There's a section dedicated to Android on the HD2.
Check on the "HD2 Android developpement" forum, everything is explained .

yes goto the android on HD2 section of this forum. it explains it all. you will need to flash a custom rom and depending on the android build a particular radio.
im running the Froyostone V3.1 on a cooked rom. its built from the android HTC Desire build and it works fine for me.
OK proceed with caution!!!
Do not brick your device, do alot of reading first before entering or doing anything to your phone. The first step you will have to do is Hard SPL your device and then for Android to run, you will need to change your Radio, for android to run, you do not need to install a custom rom like many believe.
Hello xda community I bought the HTC hd7 the day it came out and I've always been a HTC fan boy. So I decided I want a hd2 to run Android and just Android. I had a Samsung galaxy S captivate and want to know if it'll run stable like it was on that phone. Is it possible to run a rooted Android 2.2 w/ htc sense rom without wm on my phone? Thanks any help will be appreciated.
I can understand asking a question, but you honestly have to know that a guide for this already exists...search is your friend. Here's the link anyway though:

or

And as of right now...no you can't get rid of windows mobile yet, but you can dual boot running android from the SD card...explained in the above linked post(s)
I have just loaded an Android ROM onto my HTC HD2 and its working really well. Thanks for all the info on this site. Now my friend who has a HTC HD Mini has asked me to android it aswell. Can i follow the same procedure i used for my HD2 or do i have to use an alternative method. Many thanks
Look here How to Install Android
Note: Its in development stage. Not ready for daily use!
Is it so hard to read a sticky topic??
Hello all,
I have recently bought a HTC HD 2 on eBay with hyperdroid cm7 v2.1.0 head honey badger. ( Whatever that means, Sorry Im new to this rom stuff) It seems to be very glitchy and force closes dialer and many applications a lot. I was wondering if someone could point me in the direction as to where to start. I wish to use a better and more stable rom for my phone but have no idea where to start. Thank you
1st turn off the phone and then turn it back on. does it say magldr at the top? if it does the i think a great stable ROM to start off with would be BLUETOPIA HD, you can find it here. i think its a great started ROM because a lot of the info needed to flash the rom is express in the post in a very easy to follow way. you can also check out RAFDROID HD found here which is also a great ROM.
i would also check out this thread because it will have all the info you need to know about flashing ROMs and is written for noobs to ROM development. be sure to thank mskip for his post.
BLUETOPIA HD is [LEO1024][TMOUS]
If you have EU LEO512 don't flash this rom. If not, go ahead!
