I installed clockwork mod thru rom manager and backed up my rom. My question is I've been reading a lot and I see people backing up their apps with like my back up or titanium. Why do I need to back up my apps if I did a recovery? Is this so it's easier to get your apps on the new rom? Just want to make sure I have everything ready to flash a new rom.
To replace ur apps when u flash a new Rom..
Some people want to keep the data with their apps instead of redownloading it and it being back to when you first got it. Like with angry birds if you want your stats when you flash to a new rom the you use an app to back up al of ur other apps

Is there a way to transfer all my settings/apps/data from one ROM to a new one? Because every time I flash, it's a blank slate. I'd like to keep all my apps and stuff that I have installed on my current ROM but put it onto a newer ROM. Is it possible?
make a nandroid backup taht way when you flash if you dont like it you can restore your last image, or if you want to transfer your contacts go to People>hit menu>import/export to SD
Titanium backup.
well nandroid doesn't back up my apps and wallpapers and stuff... oh well
Nandroid does backup your apps and data. It backs up an exact image of your phone the way it is when you back up

No, its for every ROM... Thats why its called NANDroid. It backs up the entire NAND for later use.

It backs up whatever info I have to lets say attn1's Liberated Aria ROM. Ok, I back that up in nandroid, then I go to flash the clean eclair beta v2 one. It says to wipe and then flash. Ok, then when the flashing is done, its clean and none of my apps are there. I want something to back my info up from one ROM to another.
well with some roms, (this is experimental and doesnt work with every combination of roms) you can use nandroid for an advanced backup, and restore only the data partition(which is your apps, settings etc.). but it doesnt work with every combination of roms. but you can also use titanium backup to just backup apps, and settings etc.
Alright, that's what I needed to hear. Thanks
If I flash a new rom using rom manager will the previous one be gone? I want no part of what I have right now if I go to another rom

Yeah what I mean is I'm running Axura right now and if I went to another rom I don't want that new rom being bugged and looking like auxura will that happen?

Odin back to stock before flashing another rom that's the best way to make sure nothing is left over I always flash fresh from stock and I don't have any problems also if you have voodoo installed make sure you dissable it before anything else cause your going to have a headache trying to remedy that situation
Runnin nero+dow+oclf
odin is not necessary. all the roms for the vibrant wipe system and data, so flashing with clockwork is good enough.
however, undo lagfixes. some cause problems if not disabled, others don't.
Got it! Thanks
I am unable to flash a different rom over Axura??? i have no lag-fixs. When i go through rom manager, it just reboots the system still in axura? Im stumped and would appreciate any help.

You need to flash clockwork recovery from rom manager then do it and on the recovery mode if it doesn't do it auto click reinstall package
i will try that, thankyou very much; however my newest problem is that i cannot put the rom on my phone. when i try to copy from my computer and paste to phone, i get "Cannot copy BionixFinal_R1_Stock: The parameter is incorrect" wft is that!? lol
Umm when you do that do you mount your phone and if you have titanium backup when you go on your computer do you see that titanium backup is there as a folder?
if you put it where titanium backup folder isn't your putting it on te external part and then it wont work.
Besides that it might be your computers problem search that error in Google without the bonix part
Hello!
I still have Eclair 2.1 on my Epic 4g. It is rooted and right now I want upgrade it to Froyo.
How can I restore all apps and Data from the phone I have now. What do I need to do after flashing Rom to Epic 4G. Those apps that I already have installed, they will be restored somehow or I need to do something to restore it?
I've already did backup data and apps. Where can I reed something like FAQ with all that questions.
Please, sorry for stupid questions.
Also, I need some advice about the Rom. What rom better to install?
Thank you very much

First things first, wrong spot for this post...
2. titanium backup or any other good backup program that backs up to sd
back up the programs
install the rom
download titanium backup from the market again
reinstall the apps.
3. MY ROM (superheroes) otherwise I would go with mammon's that's the basis for my rom and his roms I have to say are the most stable and overall best out there... (my opinion)
There are a few other roms out there that are good roms, I would say check them out.
BTW this thread will most likely be moved or deleted !
Thank you very much. I have one more questhion. After upgrade to Froyo do I need to register all o my accounts or there is some way and it will be registered somehow?

I am glad this question was asked, because when I originally researched it, I found the same answer.
When using Titanium Backup, the restore process is tedious because it asks you for every single application if you want to install or not. If you have a lot of apps like I do, that was a pain. Any way around this?
ALSO, when doing a Titanium restore, it would indeed install all of my apps, but if I went to the "My apps" section of the Market, they wouldn't show. Is there any way to restore applications so that they show up in Market, which would allow them to be detected and updated (if a new version comes out)?
Odd thing happened to me when I flashed to noobnl's CM6 port. I didn't backup/restore any applications, but when I logged in to my google account, Market automatically reinstalled all of my apps (it must store my active app list server side?)
if i upgrade from 2.1 to 2.2 can i do advance restore data, so i can have all of my apps and homescreans like before?
thanks
Any help...I want to upgrade tonight. Thanks

You can try it but I recommend a fresh install instead of restoring. You might run into some problems and force closes. It varies for some people. You can always update to 2.2 doba NAND backup and then try your restore of data and if you have problems just use your restore you made and manually install them again. I personally only restore when I'm on the same android version. Good luck
This is stupid...but is there any way to get my saved data for my games back if I fresh install them...in particular the Sims 3.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
I honestly don't know I've never played games on my phone. Do you have to login on sims to play it? I'd assume if you did it would probably still be saved.

I have this problem with the game "ninjas live" i loose all of my save data unless i flash backup restore, I need a way to get my same data back on a new rom. titainium and any other backup app does not restore the data on ninjas live like a clockwork restore. But the downside is force closes from the clockwork restore.
Titanium backup.
Ive also done the advance restore through cwm for data after odin flash many times and no problems.
worse case odin back and restore then use titanium b/u.
It does not require a login...but i guess ill update to 2.2 do an advanced restore data and if it messes up ill do titanium backup and if all fails start all my games over
This has been my biggest beef with all the ROM updates/changes as well. There is not an easy way to backup your personal data and restore it without massive force closes here and there...oy vey. Lots of experience with that on my G1
Is there any dev's working on handling this issue right now? Would hate to do it myself....
updated to the quantum rom 2.7 with ext4...did an advanced data restore, and everything is fine so far...no force closes yet...
If you're as lucky as me and a few others. Try just runing the 2.2.1 update.zip. It will keep all your games saves, apps and homepages as they are. But the risk you run is that it might run buggy. I guess its a 50 50 shot.
You might luck out, like me.
I've been flashing ROMs for a while. Tried many different kernels of coarse that are compatible with the ROM, and as far as I know I've been doing it the way it should be done. However, one thing I haven't tried is restoring the progress/saves/data of my apps. I gave it some thought and figured this should be possible and I just haven't looked into it. I hope it is, I am now 3weeks into the same ROM and I want to update already but I don't want to loose my progress. If it is possible could someone help me or point me in a direction where I can get help. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

If your switching roms completely I would recommend titanium backup. With that you can backup apps and app data. If you are simply upgrading the same rom, just wipe cache partition and dalvik cache then flash. All your apps and data stay. Just the updatetd files are plugged into the rom.
As far as your suggested method, I have no idea. Never really tried or looked into anything else. I guess it never really was necessary.
^ I may be making this more complicated then it already is but if I were to switch to titanium backup would i have to switch to AmonRA recovery since I already have clockworkmod recovery with ROMmanager? Also If I may want to try a different ROM other than the update, is there another route besides titanium backup (assuming I would have to switch to amonRA). I ask this because I've looked through the SD folders and found a folder called Android that had some apps in it, I'm wondering if there is a folder such as this I can copy and restore if I were to Switch ROMs?
titanium backup is just an app. it has nothing to do with recovery, so no, you dont have to switch recoveries
Mybackup root is also another free alternative app.
Titanium Backup saves all the app/data information onto your SD card, that way when you flash another rom you have to download the app again and you could reinstall just the app, or app with user data.

Titanium Backup is a lifesaver. Before I flash a new ROM, I make sure my app backups are straight, then after flashing the ROM, all I have to do is go to the Market, redownload Titanium Backup, then restore all my apps. It allows me to change ROMs in an afternoon and be using my phone that night like any night before. Buy the full version, because you need it to restore apps in one big batch operation.
