there have been other threads just like this though. You could've taken the time to search. I think there was one in the Q&A section about the whereabouts of Team Whiskey. And if you dont find your answers here, you can always check on Team Whiskey's Forums. So far they haven't dropped a new ROM or anything, just working on FFC from what i read on their forum and last time they posted here they mentioned they were working on 2.3 for the vibrant. Considering the fact that the only 2.3 leaks available out now are for the i9000, i dont see a stable 2.3 ROM for the vibrant being released from them anytime soon. It's going to take a while seeing from the current 2.3 roms we have so far. Honestly i'm not expecting anything stable until we get an official 2.3 for the vibrant.

Krylon has a 99% gingerbread rom working. It's built from scratch, so it's not a port.

Stop man, you're just adding to the unneeded drama around here. I usually love your posts but we've really got to stop drawing lines in the sand over such petty things. Both teams are great, and manage things differently (and even that's not gonna be so different anymore). Im a Bionix user, and I've been wanting to try some EDT roms, Im just not as flash happy as I used to be. So if it works the way I feel it should, I don't see any reason to keep flashing. I used to though, so I understand the people that do. But we've really got to stop bashing one team or the other.
Im not talking about you when I say this dligon, but with people around here its: so much to criticize, so little to contribute.
Also CM simply is not an option at its current state for people like me, who use GPS daily. I used CM exclusively on my G1, so I know how great it is, but I didn't crack open my phone for the hardware fix for nothing.

We cannot read every thread and do rely on members helping us to keep the forum clean and free from the people who have nothing useful to contribute.

cmon guys.. i know you Devs like to make new roms.. but my bible just passed 60 ROMS.. lol i find this a little outrageous. is there a need? why not stick to 1 ROM? and make it a really good one? instead of making alot of them? lol
EDIT: and guys please no flaming, I'm not complaining, im just asking
I think it's mainly the competition between the devs. They all want to produce the best roms. Don't flame me, that's just my honest opinion.

Different people like different features. So more variety gives a better chance to please different people. Not everyone just wants one rom that's really fast or good for gaming or good for battery life etc....I also don't think you can have everything in one rom. Some people like the gingerbread launcher, some like touch wiz, some like miui. Can't have all three in one.
Kitchen brewers...Theres really only a few real devs actually creating new roms, for the most part its the good devs work redone by what i like to call kitchen brewers....mixing and matching themes, apk's,framework, ect. from true developers hard work and then calling it thiers....

Theres 4 groups i know of.
1) Team Whiskey they've been quiet for a few months
2) EDT, their roms are great, and they just got organized instead of a new rom every week.
3) The galaxy something, never used their Roms, but it seems like BS to me.
4) Ports from I9000 or some other device.
Mostly, its the new ports...
and yes, its the competition between the 3 groups, they all want to be obviously the best group on Vibrant section, DUH
So they all make much roms as possible and try to beat someone else.
I haven't seen anything unique in our Dev section in a few months, to me it looks like a bunch of themes, but the Devs like, TW and EDT they do their work that they do for free! I love their roms!
They would NEVER work on the same rom, i can think of 1 reason why:
WHY would they? They all have different ways of making roms, combining them would be a good user-end rom but, they just wouldn't do it.
JUST 1 rom is bad as well.
Option, we all need it.
I believe it was... TW who set EDT straight by saying "quality over quantity" because they used to release a whole ****load of roms every week, and now EDT is my FAV. I love all their roms, Trigger (my opinion best) then Bi-Winning, haven't tried rest.
Team Whiskey is the best dev team for the Vibrant! Hands down.
EDT is catching up.

I vote team whiskey! No one has come close to their bionix-v, visually and preformance wise.
I find Trigger is a close second though, followed by Galaxy Extreme. Still waiting for a nice GB rom to come out (hint to EDT & Team Whiskey).
Does it really bother you that we have a lot of roms on the development section? Just asking.

On the contrary! I think more roms are on the way
The only thing that I really need right now is a fully working CM7 minus the GPS of course. The only things as of now that are bothering me are the battery drain and low amounts of ram.
You'll see 20 more when we get a modified JVB kernel.
Our dev section is already starting to become polluted with all these i9000 ports. Nothing against them but I really am starting to think that most of our "devs" are themers and porters at heart. Again, nothing bad about the ports, but I miss the Bionix Fusion and early froyo leak days where most of everything was made just for the Vibrant. Good old times.

Wow, I can't believe you guys are actually complaining about this. You know which roms are for you. Different strokes for different folks. Is it harming you that all these roms are being released? Its nice to have options. smh....
Those 19000 rom's are very good.. the Darky port that Jellette did is a great rom, so is simply honey.
I really don't understand the complaining about variety.... In what way is alot of choices hurting the community, or hampering the information u get from this forum??? Please, someone tell me how this can impact YOU negatively? ?

Team Whiskey just announced the release of the next release after Bionix V 1.3.1, They're calling it Bionix Next Gen.
Figured everyone would be interested to know, as the 1.3.1 thread has about a million hits.
Head over to their forums at teamwhiskey.com to get their full instructions, otherwise just go to download here: sourceforge.net/projects/bionix-v/files/
This was already released a few months ago, but was in BETA and only for Donators, guess they released for everyone.
cheers!

I also wonder why they have stuck with 2.2 and only released one 2.2.1 that never got updated after the first day or so. Wonder what it is about the difference that they don't want to develop.
They ARE working on a GB rom, as heard..
Their probably releasing a 2.2 rom because.. well... people currently think their.. DEAD and they want people to know their still here, GB is probably hard as hell to work with.
their new rom NextGen was publicly released today on the TW forums. The OP is just slightly misinformed. IMO it seems to run better than v 1.3.1
Next Gen
1) based on Bionix 1.3.2 not 1.3.1
2) 1.3.1 ran like BUTTER< had damn near NO issues and was tough to improve on
3) Next Gen build was lead by a different group of devs that have contributed but not lead the charge
a) They have put together the BEST ROM the Team has done to date.
4) They are working on GB. With Samsung not hooking up some Vibrant GB source there are still holes, and we all know that the team is all about QUALITY!!!!!
5) Next Gen was a Beta for donators, because the doantor is the one most likely to give feedback on bugs (my guess).
Give it some love if you want. I have had NOTHING but great results. Battery, service, and GPS have been Phenomenal.....
If a developer can't keep in touch and talk about stuff, they are of no interest to me. And this long for an update, really?!?!

You know they used to practically run these vibrant forums right? Sombionix would try to answer everyone's questions and be open with people. He ended up having the same problem that all of the greats had, and that's growing intolerant to whiny noobs that complained too much. I don't blame those guys for leaving and staying out of touch. It's not like they're obligated to us for anything. Long live Sombionix and his whole TW team. Imagine putting crazy long hours into a hobby, and once you were finished the people looking at your hard work criticize you and say it sucks even though they couldn't do any better. I don't know about you but it would drive me away too.

the thing is, they still do. people just assume that if it isn't Som or Viral, then it's not TW. But the throne has been handed down, so to speak, to a new group.
Sigh, they said a while ago that they weren't going to release anything on XDA anymore. They grew tired of XDA so they decided to just post on their forums/website only. It's true that the Bionix developing has been handed down to someone else, Nopcodex90.

Ok, let me clear some smoke.
1. NextGen is still 2.2, based from the mysterious 1.3.2 build with some more tweaks by Nopcodex90
2. I'm not sure if Shorty, Alexia, or Nopcodex90 still gets on XDA, but i'm still here....but T.W. forums is where we mostly reside at now....Som, Viral, and Krylon are and will forever be the original founders of Team Whiskey..and with all the great, solid ROMs they put out...they deserve a break if they want one, and while they're taking a break...Shorty, Nopcodex90, grendel905, Alexia,creator2456, AlterBridge86, Allen, MacGyver, PezLee, }SkOrPn--', KidDynamite, along with myself is holding down the fort at the forums. We are a team....we are Team Whiskey, and we will never die.
I'm a novice user at best, and just installed cyanogen 9, 4.0.3 with no problems. The verdict, its amazing! Seriously amazing how much faster EVERYTHING is. Menu's FLY, programs seem to pop up faster, and I can switch between the easier. I have a few widgets on my home-screens that made sliding back and forth dificult, now its SOO SMOOTH. It's like having a new phone.
I've barely read about the new features, but what I like best is....
- The voice-to-text tool is really cool. It does it word by word as your talking. I could be wrong, but it feels more accurate, not sure if that has changed or not.
- The camera app is cool because as soon as you take a picture, you have the option to share it via different programs.
- did i mention its wicked fast?

I have been using oICSv43 for 3 days solid now. Not one bug so far. The battery seems to be better than my stock 2.3.7 I came from. It's just such a joy to use. If you're not on ICS yet, you're missing out. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1364221
Starting this because no one has yet
Also to keep the development thread for this rom clear from non development tomfoolleries
Let me start of by saying this has to be the cleanest and most rock stable ICS rom for the OG EVO. My opinion of course :good:
I second ur opinion. This is/has been my go to rom since it was released by TEAM DIRT. Fantastic job guys.

Just want to say that I've been talking to Team RemICS (people who made RemICS-UX) and they're currently working on what they're calling RemICS-JB.......once they get it ready and we get a stable enough JB base, I'll port it over and we can enjoy it!

Sheeeeit, really? I'm stoked. As soon as someone figures out how to fix the camera we'll all have JB for good! Haha. Then google will send an OTA update the next day.
A friend of mine just got the SG3 and it was pretty funny to see his reaction to my phone. Mainly because he just upgraded from an EVO and knows nothing about rooting, roms, or modding.

Oh, FFS, is it REALLY necessary to have two threads for every ROM now?

Seen it. But you can always just pull the .apk from this if you wish to apply it to another rom

That's correct BUT don't forget to push libalbumframework.so to the system/lib folder too or else you'll get a FC or it might not even show up in the app drawer

Oh, FFS, is it REALLY necessary to have two threads for every ROM now?
Good grief!

To answer your question Hipkat if wish to call it that, this thread is for day to day discussions such as talking about the ROM in general....sharing screenshots, comparing setups, battery life...things like that! The ROM thread is for actual development! YES it may have a post or two that someone decides to post on there that isn't 100 percent related to development BUT it helps the problem of having a 200 page thread with about 50 pages of "check my screenshots yo" or "what kernels do you guys think I should use"
If you have a big issue with this or you're just mad because you didn't come up with it first, hit that triangle and tell the moderators how I'm such an EVVVIILLL guy and I need to be put in my place before I take over the world!!

apparently so based on the multitude of non rom related questions and comments. I think it's a great idea. I'm glad I thought of it. Thank me very much. Lol!

I really wish Touchwiz still had the option to do the Holo style app folders stacking. I know there are other launcher options but I really like the Touchwiz UI.
I touch wizz all over that ui.

Mazda this has been a rom I've stick with now for quite some time. Its also the daily on my wifes evo. Which is strange cause I used to flash about 2 diff roms a day.
Anyways...can we expect any more development with this? Not sure what else you could do, its pretty much great as it sits....but is v1.3.1 pretty much final?
I'd like to see Google now, now with the working voice incorporated in...maybe Google ears as well...just trying to throw some ideas out there.

NO v1.3.1 isn't the final.......I'm working on CM10 and also waiting to see what Team RemICS does here in the next few days and I might incorporate some new features, just depends on which way they're headed and how much time I got
Thanks for throwing out ideas, I like ideas..hahahhaa
I use to like this rom on my evo, then I got a sg2 and I hate tw(idky).
But still, a great job on it Mazda and team dirt.

I cleaned up thread. I suggest everyone act like an adult or next time infractions will be handed out.
This thread was created to keep chitchat, q&a, screenshots, and anything non development related but still remics related into one place.
Lets keep it that way.
