Starting this because no one has yet
Also to keep the development thread for this rom clear from non development tomfoolleries
Let me start of by saying this has to be the cleanest and most rock stable ICS rom for the OG EVO. My opinion of course :good:
I second ur opinion. This is/has been my go to rom since it was released by TEAM DIRT. Fantastic job guys.
sent using a freaking pigeon, with a note tied to its leg.
WOOT WOOT!!! Glad someone started this
Just want to say that I've been talking to Team RemICS (people who made RemICS-UX) and they're currently working on what they're calling RemICS-JB.......once they get it ready and we get a stable enough JB base, I'll port it over and we can enjoy it!
NOW let's get the discussion started!!!

Sheeeeit, really? I'm stoked. As soon as someone figures out how to fix the camera we'll all have JB for good! Haha. Then google will send an OTA update the next day.
A friend of mine just got the SG3 and it was pretty funny to see his reaction to my phone. Mainly because he just upgraded from an EVO and knows nothing about rooting, roms, or modding.
MIND BLOWN!
Oh, FFS, is it REALLY necessary to have two threads for every ROM now?
Good grief!
Been my daily since the day 1.3 dropped.
*Sidenote* Has anyone seen this "Walkman" Clone app for other ICS ROMs?

That's correct BUT don't forget to push libalbumframework.so to the system/lib folder too or else you'll get a FC or it might not even show up in the app drawer

To answer your question Hipkat if wish to call it that, this thread is for day to day discussions such as talking about the ROM in general....sharing screenshots, comparing setups, battery life...things like that! The ROM thread is for actual development! YES it may have a post or two that someone decides to post on there that isn't 100 percent related to development BUT it helps the problem of having a 200 page thread with about 50 pages of "check my screenshots yo" or "what kernels do you guys think I should use"
If you have a big issue with this or you're just mad because you didn't come up with it first, hit that triangle and tell the moderators how I'm such an EVVVIILLL guy and I need to be put in my place before I take over the world!!

apparently so based on the multitude of non rom related questions and comments. I think it's a great idea. I'm glad I thought of it. Thank me very much. Lol!

I really wish Touchwiz still had the option to do the Holo style app folders stacking. I know there are other launcher options but I really like the Touchwiz UI.
I touch wizz all over that ui.

Mazda this has been a rom I've stick with now for quite some time. Its also the daily on my wifes evo. Which is strange cause I used to flash about 2 diff roms a day.
Anyways...can we expect any more development with this? Not sure what else you could do, its pretty much great as it sits....but is v1.3.1 pretty much final?
I'd like to see Google now, now with the working voice incorporated in...maybe Google ears as well...just trying to throw some ideas out there.

NO v1.3.1 isn't the final.......I'm working on CM10 and also waiting to see what Team RemICS does here in the next few days and I might incorporate some new features, just depends on which way they're headed and how much time I got
Thanks for throwing out ideas, I like ideas..hahahhaa
I use to like this rom on my evo, then I got a sg2 and I hate tw(idky).
But still, a great job on it Mazda and team dirt.

Hello everyone...
I want so badly to be able to post in teh Dev section to thank people for their work, but I do not have enough posts to do so...
I am a lurker - new to the Android world and loving every second of it... I generally do not believe in superfluous posts, but I need to simply reach 10 so I can thank people for their hard work and assist anyone running into issues that I also hit...
That said, I wanted to let you all know that I installed Blackhole 4.2 yesterday and it is wonderful. So as soon as it drops on here, consider it. I am using the phone that I have always wanted - and I am sure it will stay exactly the way it is for at least a week or two... until the next big exciting change gets made.
I truley never thought I would enjoy tinkering with a phone, modding bits and pieces of it so much... Sure, I have been modding cars for years, but now a phone... I am hooked and I want to thank this community for the wealth of info that we find in here and the good attitudes that go along with it...
Samsung Fascinate, EB01, Blackhole 4.2 FTW
Thank you Sonofskywalker3 for ALL your hard work!!
Good wirte up until you hit the "good attitudes that go along with it."
make a bad step an XDA and this place can be a bear!!
There's a thank you button for that. ;-)
Btw .... glorious ... Blackhole. I giggled a little.

Yep Blackhole is the heat. I was going to start a new thread until I searched..lol but Im gonna give Blackhole (sonofskywalker3) and Super Dark (thatdudebutch) a huge shoutout. I've been using this combo from the beginning and have no reason to change up. Do yourself a favor and give it a try when it drops!!

there have been other threads just like this though. You could've taken the time to search. I think there was one in the Q&A section about the whereabouts of Team Whiskey. And if you dont find your answers here, you can always check on Team Whiskey's Forums. So far they haven't dropped a new ROM or anything, just working on FFC from what i read on their forum and last time they posted here they mentioned they were working on 2.3 for the vibrant. Considering the fact that the only 2.3 leaks available out now are for the i9000, i dont see a stable 2.3 ROM for the vibrant being released from them anytime soon. It's going to take a while seeing from the current 2.3 roms we have so far. Honestly i'm not expecting anything stable until we get an official 2.3 for the vibrant.

Stop man, you're just adding to the unneeded drama around here. I usually love your posts but we've really got to stop drawing lines in the sand over such petty things. Both teams are great, and manage things differently (and even that's not gonna be so different anymore). Im a Bionix user, and I've been wanting to try some EDT roms, Im just not as flash happy as I used to be. So if it works the way I feel it should, I don't see any reason to keep flashing. I used to though, so I understand the people that do. But we've really got to stop bashing one team or the other.
Im not talking about you when I say this dligon, but with people around here its: so much to criticize, so little to contribute.
Also CM simply is not an option at its current state for people like me, who use GPS daily. I used CM exclusively on my G1, so I know how great it is, but I didn't crack open my phone for the hardware fix for nothing.

love or hate, thor2002ro's Open Sourced build
Wi-Fi has been fixed.
Bootable CWM .zip has been posted.
Greenscreen flicker issue (related to drivers, fix coming)
Still not stable, obviously.
Source seems to be incomplete like his other works.
Many of the physical interfaces work, from HDMI to radio to vibration - follow header link above to see complete list
GPS, Camera feed, and Audio does not work.
blazingwolf's Soon-to-be Open SourceBuild
Flashable Zip ready
No Wi-Fi
No Source (yet)
Hardware acceleration - green-screen bug caused by hardware accel.
Many hardware parts are not working.
Discuss.
Thor just released an alpha build as a CWM zip!!
Lol

Using Thors now. Why is hardware accelaration not working? Its working in Blazingwolfs. Are these guys not working together/.
Just plugged in Thor's ROM and here are some things I noticed immediately:
No market
When I tried to sideload the market, it said I didn't have an SD card installed, which I do
Color variations, primarily green
Widgets show cell widgets (obviously not needed) as well as the cell '4 bars' in the notification area
Browser speed seemed very fast
Obviously a lot still to do, but a nice start by Thor. I have alpha 7 ICS on my phone and I'd love to stock ICS on the a500. Not really into all the 'bells and whistles' that some devs like to do.

Wouldn't anyone else agree that working on 2 separate ICS builds is a bit counter-intuitive? It shouldn't be a competition to see who has the bigger you-know-what... Why not work together on a single ICS ROM. Put everyone's brain power together to release a single stable build. We've got hardware acceleration working on one, wifi on the other. Vice versa is still broken... It makes sense - just mash them together with what works! I understand it's "a little more difficult than that" but I'm sure there's a way to work together rather than go head-to-head.
Just my 2 cents. I'd contribute to the effort if I could, but this is the best I can say... Good luck devs!

By the way your site has got to be the most innovative I have seen the way it scales to the device) By the way what did you get reported for? The fact you didnt want random comments in the thread? What was it reported for? I was thrilled you'd gone back to the gpl-compliant route, I was looking forward to being able to use your work. Don't let an individual dissuade you from the open thing.
I'm a novice user at best, and just installed cyanogen 9, 4.0.3 with no problems. The verdict, its amazing! Seriously amazing how much faster EVERYTHING is. Menu's FLY, programs seem to pop up faster, and I can switch between the easier. I have a few widgets on my home-screens that made sliding back and forth dificult, now its SOO SMOOTH. It's like having a new phone.
I've barely read about the new features, but what I like best is....
- The voice-to-text tool is really cool. It does it word by word as your talking. I could be wrong, but it feels more accurate, not sure if that has changed or not.
- The camera app is cool because as soon as you take a picture, you have the option to share it via different programs.
- did i mention its wicked fast?
just my thoughts. Thanks to all the hard-work from the dev's that made this possible. I appreciate everything you guys do, and really enjoy reading in this forum and around the community.

I'm glad to hear that you're enjoying ICS! I haven't made the jump yet as I am happy with gingerbread still. I fear that ICS has too many kinks to work out still lol. But whatever works for you
However, may I suggest posting in the correct forum next time? Nexus S General Forum --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=881 Just a note that other forum members aren't very forgiving for posting in the wrong forum so be careful!

I have been using oICSv43 for 3 days solid now. Not one bug so far. The battery seems to be better than my stock 2.3.7 I came from. It's just such a joy to use. If you're not on ICS yet, you're missing out. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1364221
Some of you know me from back in the day. I had a short switch to the galaxy S 4G. Great phone, but not the same development as the vibrant. My new city doesn't have 4G and I've never used the FFC.
Oka1 (Casey) is a tremendous guy... Top notch, and is sending me a vibrant.
So, happy to report I'll be spending a lot more time here again.
What's the latest craze? I assume the amazing ICS port I'm hearing about.
Any other guides needed or updates to mine? Let me know if I can try to help.
Welcome back! This forum needs ya...... .I however am now on the mt4g and yea I miss the vib. But in two months ill be moving up to the sgs2
Wait did oka1 have a extra vibrant or something or did he give his to yours...
Oka1 u da man.

Welcome back. Missed you, mate.
LOL... Some solid responses. Thanks for the kind words. Glad to hear less trolling, ha.
Nice to be back in this section. Grass is always greener.
Edit: Casey was able to send me a vibrant, I believe from a family member. This is the second time he has helped me. XDA truly has some incredible people... Be kind to everyone, you never know.
Hey, welcome back to the dark side, friend.

Welcome back! You should definitely install ICS as soon as you get your Vibrant! You heard right! It is amazing!
Welcome Back! Your guides have been a great help in sorting out issues. There is a lot of activity on ICS related ROMs & themes. Come and enjoy the fun.
You've probably already seen it, but the ICS Passion ROM is pretty legit.

For your first project / task / help Ive got a biggie for you:
get a hold of Cmenard
Ask him the secret to getting gps working on GB. Or update Bullet!!
Glad to have you back buddy!
Got kind of sad when you said you may be leaving XDA completely, then you rebounded with not only deciding to stay here at XDA, but returning to the Vibrant forum again!
Me and many other older members of this forum will be ecstatic to hear this news. You rock
Welcome come, and no you weren't missed.

Agreed Casey is definitely a big help outside of the XDA world, hell even outside of the android world.
Welcome back Callip, Ive been running Neobuddy's Rom with Eugenes ICS kernel, i highly recommend it that said, it seems like development has resurged and some awesome things are happening.
I'd just like to say Hi-------------Hi
Seems that you left right when I was coming in so we only crossed paths here and there. Just so you know, I am always linking your Noob Guide to help people root and install CWR on their phones. It has proven a valuable resource for me and others.
If you ever need anything from me, just ask or PM. I am usually on during the days (with just browsing at night) and most weekends.

It is hysterical to me that it was over a year ago when I started the #NeverAgain campaign for Froyo... and now the Vibrant, of all devices, has one of the more solid ICS builds. THAT is irony.
