For starters I have CM6 RC2 running on my Aria.
Second, I have searched the forum and found things that either confuse me or are not quite what I'm looking for. Hopefully you guys can help.
What I'm wanting to know is this; when I power down my phone and then plug it in to charge, the screen comes on with the boot menu. (Little Androids on skateboards, all that.)
Is there a way to have it simply be off, screen and all, while charging? Thanks in advance.

Leave the phone on and the screen will timeout be blank during charging. If you power off your phone and then plug it in to charge, you will get screen of your recovery app. The original charging icon was a part of the standard HTC recovery app. Since you replaced it with another recovery app when you rooted your machine, that is what shows when you are charging your phone.
I don't have Tasker yet, but does anyone know if you can set up a Task that will shut down the phone when it reaches 100% charge?
I belive Tasker can do that for you. Here is a related post in Tasker's support forum. http://groups.google.com/group/task...2aec9051?lnk=gst&q=shut+down#a18968812aec9051
Tasker is worth every penny and more. Lurk in that forum for a few days.

I was pressing random buttons on my phone when it suddenly turned off. I was pressing Power + Vol Down + Trackpad at the time when it turned off. I booted up the phone and reproduced the same results again.
Did I just discover this or does everyone know?
That's the easy way to turn off the phone.

Hey, I'm new to the site and relatively new to Android. I had a Nexus One for a while, got rid of it due to not having a decent way to sync music to the phone and got an i*hone. Had that for about a year and just got rid of it since I was tired of living in the walled garden and got an HTC Incredible.
Also, my phone just froze up on me and I used this trick to shut it down and then restart it. Way easier than having to pull the battery and then restart. Thanks for the tip!!

Welcome to the site! I'm sure that you'll love the Incredible much more than the iPhony
I didn't know that it worked during a freeze also. I guess I'll do that instead of a battery pull the next time I press the "freeze for 5 minutes" button in Dev Tools on accident.

Long story short, bought a DX at a good price hoping to flash and sell. Here's the best part, the phone will not charge or be reconized when its on by a PC. To makes things worse...I factory reset it hoping it would take care of the issue and when it boots, it boots to no home screen (black screen, white top bar). I can't sbf, can't load the home screen and it wont charge when on. It does charge when the phone is off.
Anything I can do? I just don't understand why it will charge when off but not on and because of that, there is no connection to the PC so no way of sbf'ing. Phone is currently 2.2, 30.03 bootloader.
Any help would be appreciated!

pm replied too hope it this helps.
i was just thinking of something. you may not need to do what i suggested in the pm i sent you.
try this FIRST!!!
charge the battery (obviously) and power up the device. if you cannot see the screen plug in a hdmi cable to your tv.
press the Menu key when you're at the Home screen or a pane, then select Applications -->Development. USB debugging to turn it OFF.
if it is already off....then turn it on.
either way hopefully when you plug it in the drivers will install to your pc. if not then follow the directions i sent you in the pm. goodluck.
note: i do not know if it will work as i do not use hdmi on my device. but hopefully it displays the homescreens on your tv.
Hello,
I wanted to see if anyone else is experiencing the same problem.
When my phone goes in to sleep mode, after about three minutes, it goes into limbo mode.
It is neither on or off. Only solution is to pull the battery and power it back on.
The only time it does not go in purgatory is when it is plugged in.
So I tried increasing both the CPU and the voltage. same problem.
I tried different roms and even went back to stock. Same problem.
Here is a screenshot.
Anyone else have the same problem? Any solutions?
I am out of ideas.
Thank you.
For one something is keeping your phone awake all the time. Do a Factory Data reset and try it for 2 hours without restoring anything. Then if it sleeps fine and doesn't have the Sleep of Death then add 1 or 2 apps at a time until you find the offending app.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Well something is keeping your phone from going into deep sleep and then locking the device up to where you need to pull the battery.
What is your setup? (ROM, kernel, CPU clock ranges, voltage ranges)
First suggestion would be to flash a different kernel and give that a go.
Second suggestion would be to start over from scratch and not restore data.
You do know purgatory doesn't exist right?
Anyways those are some creepy stats and as suggested previously going back to stock platform would be your best bet to see if your phone has a hardware issue

Looks like you tried correcting the wrong side of your CPU clock, the problem is likely your low end voltages (100, 200 MHz). It's a sleep of death; once the phone gets settled in to deep sleep, your low end voltages are acting screwy, and the phone can't kick itself into those to wake up. Pretty common when one goes about figuring out what voltages work for their phone.
And the battery graph? Those jumps are pretty normal for battery pulls on this phone. It tends to read the wrong battery voltage when it's soft reset (battery pull) as opposed to shutting down and turning on.

Your under-volting correct? if so your under-volting too much.
I had this problem when i was UV'ing a lot but only on GB. i could UV extremely on Froyo my 100MHz was @450mV and running at that state.

Haha, judging by the edited comments i assume it was brought up i posted from my epic touch? No worries lol.
Actually, i kept my epic and still carry it around with me nearly every day, believe it or not, especially since cm9 was posted. Ive been messing with ics apks, mainly trying to incorporate some asus live wallpapers and modding the trebuchet launcher. I love this little phone, the hummingbird was head of it's class, not mention it was my first android phone. Also, the wolfson DAC is just plain better then our Yamaha, so i also use it as my main car music player.

I was not undervolting.
I have tried to increase the voltage and removed the lower cpu mhz.. but I still got the "sleep of death."
I have tried different roms, kernals, etc... same problem
I am stock currently, tried factory resets, didn't install any programs... same problem.
As for the graph.. I kept the screen on so my phone wouldn't go into "purgatory"
Right now, I can only use my phone if it is charging, and if I keep the screen on.

Wow, well if you're completely stock I'd say you've got yourself a bad phone. The only other thing i would try is taking your SD card out.

Possibly some type of water damage in the phone? Possibly didn't drop it in water, but water does find its ways in. I got water damage in my phone from sweating while using it for music and working out. Also from listening to music while showering and the steam.
This problem started with my phone a couple weeks ago. I seem to have problems charging my phone. I cannot charge my phone while it's off. If I plug it into a power source via the cable it turns itself on.
Sometimes it will not charge. It usually happens if I use the phone while it's plugged into something while charging. In the status bar it indicates it is not charging. To make get it to charge the battery again I have to take out the battery and restart the phone. Sometimes I have to do this a few times before it starts charging again.
I've got my phone rooted with CWM and i'm running CM7

Yeah if you're already on EH03 than I wouldn't worry about the radio. If you get the itch to try out ICS, check out droidstyle's guide, it has everything to get you up and running. I recommend AOKP or teamhacksung's ICS (on rootzwiki).

Yup... Sorry it's happening to you, but glad to know it's not just me! But, that helps us narrow it down to being something in the rom itself and not a mod. I've been trying to get a log to see what is going on, but so far the logs just stop the instant I plug it in... No errors or anything.
