Bloatware - Droid 2 General

I am wanting to remove all the bloatware and whatever else the custom ROMs on here remove without installing a custom ROM...is that possible? if so, what are there?
I couldn't find a list on google for safe ones to remove/freeze

Yes it is, you must be rooted but using Titanium Backup is the easiest way IMHO

Removing supplied apps

Is there any way to remove some of the apps that are pre- installed on the phone? They do not appear in the list of apps that I can remove.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Nope

actually you can. You'll need temp root (visionary), and titanium backup.
but i don't think you'll want to remove any apps yet, because you won't be able to get future OTA updates then.

exactly.
Because by removing stock apps you are modifying the system partition.

So I am stuck with SoundHound, even though I have the paid version of this app? That's crazy.

Hide Rooting

My fascinate recently stopped recieving text messages and Verizon has sent me a new phone to replace it but I want to make sure the fact that I rooted it is covered up. I used the odin restore and it worked properly. Will this cover up the fact that I had my phone rooted?
Yes. If you did a full restore to stock with ODIN, it is now exactly like it was out of the box.
Check in your apps to make sure Superuser is gone. Then you should be good.

This is REAL good advice. I had to take my fascinate back to Verizon last night for an issue I couldn't resolve through these forum threads . I flashed back to stock, which un-rooted the phone (and got rid of SU) and as a thought uninstalled the apps requiring root and the backup folders for titanium and rom manager. The FIRST thing they did was look through my apps and folders. I just smiled and said thank you for their help and on the way home silently thanked the Devs at xda for all their hard work and advice. You people are gold!

Back up?

Recently I have bought a Samsung Galaxy Tab. I'm quite afraid to screw the OS up. So, I was wondering, is there a way to make a restore point?

Rotobackup is your best option at present, but it is a manual process.

+1.
If you intend to start going into rooting/flashing customs via odin/heimdall.
Guess 1st thing to learn to do is a stock backup.
What about creating a backup using CWM guys? Does Rotobackup do the same thing or better?

In order to make a Nandroid backup, you need to have already flashed a new kernel your Tab to install CWM. Rotobackup is the best way to make a backup prior to doing anything this "drastic".

Dave
Aha... Thanks, Dave.
Thought as much. Guess I was just being daft.
But once flashed with CWM, which would you prefer?
What happens when during flashing CWM, something happen? You wouldnt have any backup/stock rom to fall back on.

For sure RotoBackup at the begining
CWM thereafter.

Whats the lighest ROM on a TW ROM available?

I want a TW based ROM with HARDLY any Samsung bloat and no carrier bloat...

Start here, I list them all in my guide...
good luck..
Just install titanium backup and freeze the bloat yourself. If all you want us the stock rom without the bloat, that's the best and easiest method. Plus you won't have to worry about seeing your phone up again and you can unfreeze the bloat if you decide you want to try some of it out someday.
There's a zip called TrulyClean that wipes out pretty much everything that is not essential to the phone. I'd search for that and use it.

Need com.motorola.blur

Hey guys I heard there is an update coming and decided today to just look if my phone is up-to-date or not. Well when I search for updates it tells me I need an motorola-acc...Stupid me just deleted all the motorola-service apps a while ago and of course I didnt make an backup.
Could somebody maybe upload following apps:
Com.motorola.blur.setup
Com.motorola.blur.updater
Com.motorola.Motocare
I dont know if that fixes the problem but its worth a try. If you have a better solution let me know.
Not sure if this will work. Probably best to restore with the stock firmware.

You can always just restore system with RSD Lite and then install the new update when it comes out.
