I have tried to install the black google search widget from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=767471
I have removed the original white widget from the homescreen, removed the old .apk from system/app , put the new .apk in system/app and in AndroidApps folder, cleared the widget/app's cache and force stopped it in settings/applications/all applications, and still the white widget shows up when I add google quick search widget to the homescreen
I assume the widget is cooked into the build, so is there someplace else I can delet/add the .apk, or is it just hopeless?
I am trying to do all this on HyperDroid 1.5

Uninstalled Gallery3D.apk thanks to this APK list which is getting posted around here, which states you can uninstall it, only need it for lockscreen chooser
Uhm, well, now litening changed my lockscreen wallpaper. Thus I would need Gallery3D.apk back to get my all-black wallpaper back. Or does anyone know where the wallpapers for the wallpaper chooser are located so I could copy my black one there?
I'd hate to install a new litenig image and have to sort through all the crapware again
All I'm trying to do is use a custom dock background with Go Launcher EX. I'm rooted and have both the android market and gapps installed. I installed Go Launcher EX via the market.
Whenever I set a custom dock background via the Go Launcher preferences, it only stays put until I reboot. After a reboot, the background disappears and there's no background at all. The background I'm using is a PNG which i have located in /sdcard/theme/docks, permissions on the file according to Root Explorer are ---rwxr-x.
What gives here? Why do I have to reset it after every reboot?
EDIT: It's interesting to note that if I use the "GO Theme background" under Preferences->Visual settings->Backgrounds for my dock background, the theme image is persistent after any number of reboots.
it's only a shot in the dark but i think at reboot the system is starting go launcher. according to this the rights have to be rwxrwxr-x
or the sdcard is'nt mounted when it loads - then copy somewhere to system might help
never done this - just some ideas ...
I'm unable to modify permissions of files in /sdcard. Also, I have custom dock icons that are located in /sdcard/theme/icons and they always stick around after a fresh reboot, so I'm not sure about the need to move my dock background PNG to /system. I currently only have apk's in /system.
the icons have the same permissions ?
maybe a bug in go launcher you just discovered !
Yes, the icons have the same permissions.
Could it possibly be that I'm cropping the image? Anyone know the exact dimensions I would need to use to avoid cropping?
just looked at my kf - can't find the original images - does anyone know the location ?
Has anyone gotten the weather widget from the system dump to work on another phone like the GS3? I extracted it put it in system/app, fixed permission, & it appears but it's not working properly

Click to collapse
I would also like a (semi) transparent S-memo Widget.

Extra the rar and copy the icon file to the sd card
copy the icon file to /system/media/theme
edit the permissions to be rw-r--r--
copy that file to /system/media/theme/default (overwrite the old file, you may want to make a backup of the old file first)
apply the default theme again
Thanks!
Hello,
I'm sad to reactivate this old thread but I'm searching for a resolution for exactly this issue. On my new Mi MIX 2 (running with MIUI 8.5) it's the same ugly style.
So I replaced the attached file with the original version. The white background is gone away, but the icon for "Clock" and "Mi Account", too. Only the app label is still visible.
Is there a way to remove the ugly background and keep the icons for these two apps?
PS: Maybe this thread should removed to a better place, if there exists one for device unspecific MIUI questions
Best regards
Dan
It removed the icon for Calendar in MIUI 9.6.2.0.
Here I've prepared the file "icons" from MIUI9 with some alternations:
folder "res" comes from MIUI8, it doesn't give transparent background but sort of adaptive colour depending on the icon itself, i always liked it in MIUI8 that way
removed folders:
animating_icons\com.whatsapp
animating_icons\com.facebook.orca
as they still gave white background for Whatsapp and FB Messanger
- drawback: google play store doesn't have white background now, folder needed with icons with white background would be:
animating_icons\com.android.vending

apply as described above by loudog3114
it is also easy to reedit the file from loudog3114 with transparent background and add the missing icon for calendar from my file but i'm not interested, as stated before i like the "adaptive" background for icons from MIUI8
