I've put my phone into a boot loop and really need Clockwork Recovery to keep my phone from becoming a paperweight if anyone can help me out
As long as you are fully rooted s-off all hope is not lost.
Do you have the android sdk installed on your computer, and are you familiar with fastboot? If so, the best bet would be to flash clockwork recovery via fastboot, then do a full wipe, and install one of the custom Roms listed in the forum.
I can give you more info if needed when I get to a computer later.

Any help on what i can do?
put update.zip on your sdcard and that should fix your problem
I believe that only helps if he flashed eng build.
I did the same thing when I first tried root... Just keep trying to get into the recovery loop like you did the first time then flash

I was running CM7 RC3 fine on my phone, then I decided to switch back to my nandroid backup to stock ( I have done this wil ICed glacier/CM7 RC2/RC1/Royal Ginger etc with no problems). And I have been stuck on the boot splash screen the "Tmobile Mytouch 4g" screen for 20 minutes now without any action... is this a brick? I know I should not worry, but I tried wiping the dalvik cache the acahe and reset to factory setting.... still nothing
How do I go about getting the phone to work?
Thanks
are you running recovery 3.0.0.6? have you tried a battery pull?
Yes, a battery pull was tried, and I am running 3.0.0.5... any help is really appreciated
How do I possibly install 3.0.0.6 now? is it possible?
Thanks
need 3.0.0.6 to run stock or royal glacier. or 2.5.1.2. need to reinstall cm7 and use rom manager to flash recovery. or at least its the eaisest way for me.
follow drews guide and let us know how it goes. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=944681
unfortunately, I am not being able to go back to royal ginger (its on the toyal ginger splash screen now) I am downloading CM7 RC3 again, but have no way to put it on the sdcard coz I do not have a card reader at this point....... so frustrated.
you can use recovery to mount usb and it will mount the sd card and can tranfer files from computer to card. if you can get to recovery its not bricked. make sure you format boot sys data and cache in mount screen before trying reflash.
Push the cwm 3.0.0.6 recovery image to your phone via adb

Google easy way to get 3.0.0.6 and it should be a zip file u flash in recovery called clockwork_recoveries.zip or something like that. You go into rom manager pick all recoveries and flash 3.0.0.5 and reboot into recovery and it should say 3.0.0.6 now u can flash any rom and restore without getting stuck

Your phone is not bricked. As others have stated, you need to re-flash a gingerbread ROM (like CM7) in order for it to boot.
Best thing to do is install ClockworkMod Recovery version 3.0.0.6 because it can flash both gingerbread and froyo ROMs. You can do this in two ways:
1. Re-flash a Gingerbread ROM. Download TrueBlue_Drew's .zip file from his thread in Development and follow his instructions to be able to flash the included recovery images from ROM Manager.
2. If you have the engineering bootloader (0.85.2007, also some people call it ENG SPL), and if you've set up ADB on your computer, then you can use the fastboot utility to flash recovery images directly to the device. I personally prefer this method. If you can't find instructions to do this, PM me.
Hi, I've been following countless guides on how to root the Nexus S, and I've used countless different root and recovery .img files and none have worked. When I boot the phone, I'm stuck at the Google logo screen and it won't go anywhere from there.
My phone is Wind's Nexus S, GT-i9020... under the battery it says model:GT-9020T
Flash the latest clockwork 3 recovery img and then hold down the volume up and power to get into recovery.
Flash a cyanogen rom or something.
You may need to mount storage through USB in clockwork to copy rom's to it.

Make sure you flash a compatible boot image file. I, too, was stuck on the boot screen until I flashed the right boot image file. Some people swear that the data cable that comes in the box is junk and leads to headaches when trying to root. I have not experienced that, but it's worth a try. Uninstall any Android drivers on your system, and ONLY install the Google provided drivers. That's all I can think of right now, when I was trying to root my phone. I hope this helps.
I needed the Google USB drivers from the SDK and the PDAnet drivers. This was on a Windows 7 laptop.
Its not hard to find the right clockwork 3 img file. I did have to rename the img file from clockworkrecovery3blahblah.img to recovery.img
Once that is done flashing, boot into clockwork recovery and choose to mount the USB storage. Copy a cyanogen rom to the phone then choose to install zip from sdcard in clockwork.

Thanks for the responses. It seems I should not have flashed the boot.img at all. I was able to reset the phone to stock using the zip from this post[/quote], and from there did a correct root using 4002-orange.img for recovery and su-2.3.6.1-ef-signed.zip. There are a lot of bad guides on rooting out there, it took hours of searching and some second luck on stumbling across the right post to reset the phone to factory.

I'm guessing you flashed a boot.img to try and root it?
That's what screwed up.
Take battery out, put it back in, hold volume up and power at the same time to get to Bootloader.
Flash the latest cwm recovery, boot to recovery. mount the internal usb,

Didn't think bricking was possible but I can't seem to get out of CWM. I was running the honeycomb revolver rom and decided to download ota rootkeeper and then revolver parts. After downloading those apps, revolver parts asked to reboot into recovery to flash the updated zip. Did that and I've been stuck in CWM ever since. I even tried factory resetting. It does the reset but then stays at CWM screen. Won't let me boot out of it. Does anyone know what I should do? I can't even power down the device so basically it's sitting at the CWM screen all the time. Ughhhh. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

if you have cwm 5504 , take a look here:

I am on CWM 5504 but can't seem to access your link. (at least not via Tapatalk app) will take a look later thanks.

ok , its a cwm 5504 known problem , easy solution , dont worry
the thread is : Troubleshooting/Solved] ClockworkMod recovery 5.5.0.4 from Koush
Have you tried cold booting into the OS? Power it on using volume down and power button. As soon as you see the white text just release both buttons and it should attempt a cold boot into the OS. This would let you know if you're still able to access the OS or not.
The above referenced post has all the info you'll need to fix your problem. It'll just be easier to fix if you still have access to the OS.

Yeah...just go back to Rogue CWM. If all you do is flash Roms like most here on xda ...its all you need. Plus it got external SD mode.

All i do is flash roms and don't really understand all the elements of ADB. What is Rogue CWM? From what I read, it seems like I have to use ADB to push either a new rom or a new version of CWM to my device?

Team Rouge CWM is a different version of CWM. It's a version that will read from both the internal sd as well as the external micro sd card.
Under normal circumstance you can simply flash a different version of recovery but if you're in a recovery bootloop because of the Koush's CWM 5.5.0.4 version. You'll have to follow partio's link to solve the problems.
Now if you can cold boot into the OS, you can move all the necessary files there without the need of ADB. (Just hook TF up to PC and drag/drop files to internal sd.
If you can't get out of CWM recovery you'll need ADB to push the files to to internal sd.

Rogue cwm is just a modified version of cwm. It gets rid of the 100 no options to confirm a flash....and has flash from external SD.
Good luck in getting out of the 5.5.0.4...
I tried cold booting...no go. I guess I'll have to try the ADB method. Thanks for the understanding of recoveries. I have a co worker who is going to try and help me with ADB since i've never used it.
*How will my PC know that I've plugged my tf in, if Im stuck in the recovery mode?(i guess this is probably ADB basics =/)
This is a good thread for setting up ADB.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1071584
ADB required USB debugging to be turn on.
Not sure how one would go about turning that on if you can't get into settings.
IIRC you should be able to get into adb through recovery. I'll have to boot into recovery to remember the way, but I am fairly certain it is possible. Maybe through Advanced->Mounts and Storage?
I FINALLY DID IT!! Cold boot way!!

Have you try to do a full wipe? In any case, yoy can download other rom that works sure and put in the sdcard using adb when you are in recovery mode...
Check if when you flash the rom, you are getting an error related with loky-... (Something like this)...
Why don't you try to install back cwm if you still have your cwm backup. Then after that restore your backup.

How can i install back to CWM? if i cant get out of Recovery?? I would just download another rom but computer wont show my phone since stuck in recovery, As you can tell i have limited access to computer privileges due to using a work computer, so I do not have any of the tools on the computer.

Yes i did a full wipe, when i flash AOKP 2/16 its successful but stays boot looping, but PA and CM11 says failed, but nothing mentioning loki.
Can you not mount in twrp? Or go into download mode and adb push another ROM onto the phone? If your in a bootloop just wipe everything twice. Mount or adb push a new ROM AFTER checking md5. Both those have worked for me :$

Is your TWRP out of date? You can update TWRP while in TWRP. Or just adp sideload another ROM.
How do you update twrp while in recovery? When flashing the other two roms its saying something about binary?? And how do you side load, yes im real new to the g2 root game, my nexus's were so much easier and never delt with adb sdk really, ill have more luck tomorrow when im on computer i can actually download stuff , when i flash aokp i see all the files through file manager but just won't boot

By using ADB. If your pc does not detect phone. Try installing lg drivers or those on pdanet drivers.
Link for universal drivers to get ADB working.

Adb is the way to go if your stuck in recovery. And even if you're a newb its easy to learn as there are countless tutorials out there. Just read up on it and then you can either push a new ROM or push cwm and restore your old backup
