Locale back to default after reboot - Galaxy S I9000 General

I have this weird problem. I've set my language to Dutch (Belgium) en the timezone to GMT +1 Brussels.
But everytime I reboot my locale settings are restored to the original from when i first started the sgs, which is Dutch (Netherlands) and GMT 0
Any idea how I could make the changes stick?

Dutch language XT9 with 16 key's

Can someone help me to install the xT9 Dutch on a HTC TOUCH DUAL 16 key version?
I tried several options and none works.
I have tried adding the Dutch Language pack, but I am not able to make it work cause the IME file hpd.5x4.Dutch.kdb is for the 20 key layout...
When I install the cab the hardware keyboard starts working like the 20 key keyboard.
If I set the language to Englisch, it works (XT9 and ABC), but I want to use the Dutch-libary.
Can some help me with this?
Here you can find the files and registry settings.
An more step by step instruction in dutch you can find here. With those settings I managed to get my Dutch xT9 working on my 16 keys Dual.
Good luck.
I've installed this CAB:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=343106&page=5
This afternoon I want to set the registry settings manually and copy the files you give.
Tnx!
The problem is changed, after I manually set the registry values and after I copy the files manually, I could only type numbers in Dutch.
If I set the language to English, all works fine, but if I set it to Dutch I can only type numbers (this is in xt9-mode and ABC-mode).
Anybody knows how to fix this?

HTC Hero Factory Language

Hello,
I bought a HTC Hero from www.simplyelectronics.net
http://www.simplyelectronics.net/mainproduct.php?pid=7525&setcurrency=eur
The problem is that the phone arrived with factory language settings set to either Cestina, English or Polski.
I need to have the Factory setting set to french, to get the french language and french keyboard.
Is it possible to change the default Language set.
I don't want to use "CustomLocale" Because this will only change the language directly, and not set the default factory language.
The issue is that when I select language with the setting i'm stuck with Cestina, English or Polski.
Please Help me to modify those factory Settings.
FREM
Nevermind I figured out a way to bypass the issue.
"CustomLocale" + "AnysoftKeyboard".
I configure the language and then uninstall them after.

Problem with language settings

Hi,
My LEO has english ROM and Its obvious that all of the apps and stuff is in english - and thats fine for me - i want it that way.
But when typing a message I would like my LEO to use polish language dictionary (useful to Spell Correction, to Word Completion
[XT9] and so on).
I know that it is possible to set different language for text input, but when I open the list of languages to choose from, I see: german, french, etc. but NO polish;/
Does anyone know how to deal with this? How to get polish lang on the list?
install a registry editor and go to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Tegic/eT9
click AvailableLanguages and add 0115 to the end of the value like:
0109,010C,0107,0110,010A,0115
then go to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Tegic/eT9/LdbFiles
and add a new String value named 0115 with a value of PLlsUN_xt9.ldb
then go to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Tegic\eT9\Sip\LanguageKeyBoardIDMapping
and add a new String value named 0115 with a value of 0915
reboot your device...
It will be there CZ or SK too ?? ? ? Thanks CLEVER MAN ! !!
I think Slovak is 011B, SKlsUN_xt9.ldb, LanguageKeyBoardIDMapping 091B
but I haven't tried so I'm not sure..
Also not sure CZ is in there.. there's no .ldb file with CZ or something.. any ideas what it might be called? I think the code should be 0105.
if the ldb file is there it should be located in the windows folder

Thanks for help.
I followed Your guide but I still seem to have a problem.
I opend text editor right after rebooting my device. I set language to Polish, turned word prediction on and started typing. I entered 1 word and clicked space button to start typing second word. And from this moment my device is not responding (I had to perform restart). I tried it for about 5 times - always thesame reaction.
So I performed hard reset, set device language to Polish (previously i had English). When my Leo was ready I changed the registry according to Your instruction and restarted the device. From that moment my Leo is restarting all the time long. I had to remove the battery and do the hard reset to make it work again.
Do You know what could cause the problem?

I just checked to add Polish but it works perfectly for me.. maybe check your spelling with the .ldb file and check if the file is present in the windows folder.. is it an original ROM?
When you set your device to polish (multi language device??), did you check if the dictionary was maybe already there before you changed the registry? A polish device should have a polish dictionary standard you should say..
Well it works (wejdz w jakies pole textowe->klawiatura->trojkat przy klawiaturze->ust wprow texty->wlacz sprawdzanie pisowni) type kocham then press it to keep it save on word list then type koham and you should be able to choices between both words. Correct one will be at center in order to press space to accept(space soft key).
Unluckly you have to type words by your own to have it in xt9
It loock like not all language could be activatet.
I try to do that for Ukraine but no result.

Problem with language setting being forgotten

I've been having recurrent problems with my SGSII 'forgetting' it's language setting. I set it to English (UK), but after a reboot I found that when I go into some programs (e.g., Watchdog) they aren't showing in English. Going back into the language option in settings now just displays "English" rather than "English (United Kingdom)" and when I tap on it it has actually got "Čeština" (Czech) selected instead! This explains why these programs aren't displaying in English, as if I then reselect English (United Kingdom) it works fine, but on the next reboot it jumps back again.
Keyboard and settings all still display in English.
I'm rooted, but on stock ROM.
Suggestions welcome!

Changing display language in Mango?

Is it possible to change to a previously unavailable display language in Optimus 7 using MFG when already in Mango? What would be the exact procedure?
There probably is no way to change the language when already in Mango so a Nodo restore is required before applying the registry settings needed for a correct language pack? Has anyone succesfully changed the language through the update method using MFG?
I also would like to know if it is possible. If somebody has changed the registry with the MFG and downloaded Mango with other language, I would be happy to know how he or she done that.
Procedure in MFG?
01. Your phone must be in Nodo.
02. Dial ##634# to start MFG, then use password 277634#*# to enter the app
03. Go to Engineer Menu -> Other Setting -> Edit Registry
04. Select ROOT_PATH: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
05. Input SUB_PATH: \MUI\Available
06. Input KEY: 040B (this code is for Finnish language)
07. Select data type: STRING
08. Input data: Suomi (this is Finnish in Finnish..)
09. Press Set
10. Update to Mango and you'll have your preferred language in your Optimus 7.
Ok, now it worked (previous post edited)! Get your own language code and -name and apply it instead of '040b' and 'Suomi' and youre good to go Mango with your own language!
Thank you so much for this post! I've changed the registry for the Polish (0415) and now I'm waiting for the update. Hope it works
Okay, I've rolled back to NoDo with a restore point and I've added the MFG menu. So all I have to do now is to add the correct code for swedish language support as stated and "Svenska" (swedish for swedish) in the field below and update to Mango and I'm sorted?
Also while I'm at it; I'm having a little trouble finding out for sure that I have the right code for swedish. Is there a proper comprehensive list somewhere?
Swedish seems to be 041D.
http://www.microsoft.com/resources/msdn/goglobal/default.mspx?OS=Windows Vista
Thanks a bunch, buddy!
And that's with a capital D? The list says lower case, but I put it in the registry with a capital D?
Probably all the same. I put mine with a capital B and when i checked it out after rebooting i remember that the 'b' was in lower case. But as 040B worked with finnish, i suppose that a capital D works with swedish..
What language name seems to be correct for Polish? Polish (Engilsh version) or polski (Polish in Polish)?
I used 'Suomi' for Finnish so i think 'Polski' will work. On the other hand i think that either way (english or polish expression) works. If not, then you just have to reupdate..
I've just updated my phone to Mango. It has Polish language and Polish camera settings (some of the people who updated their phones to Mango with Polish don't have the camera settings - just an empty space). I really would like to thank you, tkay564, for this instruction. You've made my life better
I have a problem...
First... sorry, my English is not very good.
Second, my problem . In build 7008 with MFT I do everthing by manual >
01. Your phone must be in Nodo. (My ver. 7008 or 7392 i think, I tryed both ways)
02. Dial ##634# to start MFG, then use password 277634#*# to enter the app
03. Go to Engineer Menu -> Other Setting -> Edit Registry
04. Select ROOT_PATH: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
05. Input SUB_PATH: \MUI\Available
06. Input KEY: 0405
07. Select data type: STRING
08. Input data: Czech
09. Press Set
10. Update to Mango and you'll have your preferred language in your Optimus 7.
0405 (for Czech).
next I update my phone to Mango but nowhere Czech display language. In registrers is still row Czech 0405 but in settings nowhere.
Please, can you give me some help?
I do not need there Czech, English is enough, but I would like to have a system localized. Once again sorry for bad English.

You can change the display language on settings. Its the first setting under "Region and Language".
I updated my phone to Mango (I did not know about this setting then)
I would love to change the lang to NL but I'm already on Mango.
Is there a way to change the lang afterwards ?
Guys, I have a HTC HD7 with Mango in english. How I install NoDo for add portuguese to my language? I tried download Windows Phone Support Tool 4.7, but Zune is 4.8, and Microsoft doesn't have Microsoft Phone Support 4.8. What can I do? Ah, I tried to use "takesonetomango" but I can't do. My phone doens't found the update. Thank you.

FYI, Today I bought a used device. The previous owner swears he bought it in The Netherlands and the firmware on it also was dutch but it didn't have Dutch as a display language which is a bit odd.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=935578
First I flashed to the Dutch Nodo firmware found in this thread hoping it would give me a Dutch display language, it didn't. Then I updated through the Zune service, yet again it didn't give me Dutch display language.
Then I noticed the second firmware is from 23 SEP 2011 and not 2010, making it newer. The file size also was considerably bigger (350MB vs 170MB), so I decided to take my chances and directly flash that one.
It worked, it gave me all the available languages at once, so no need to manually add them one by one.
Hello,
3 weeks ago I bought a second hand Optimus 7 phone for my 13 year old daughter and I saw that the mango update was already applied by the previous owner, he didn't change the registry before updating. So this phone doesn't have the NL (Belgium) display language.
I found an explanation on this forum to change the registry, so I changed it. I am a little septic to take the risk to downgrade en re-upgrade to have the dutch language on this phone, so I wonder if it would be possible that when I upgrade once the WP 7.8 comes out, the Dutch language also will be downloaded now, seen the fact that I already changed the language code in the phone's registry.
Can someone confirm my thoughts about this because if it would be the case, I will wait until the WP 7.8 update will be available.
My daughter is happy with this phone and she understands most of the menu's but off course she would be much more pleased with a phone in her own native language.
Greetings,
Nic
