[Q] Please recommend a 6.1 ROM - Touch HD General

Hi!
Could you recommend a WM 6.1 ROM? I plan to use a classic home screen, so I don't need anything fancy in this regard, just a fast ROM preferably with tweaking applications already installed.
Something from duttythroy maybe?
Thanks

Try this, the fastest ROM in the world
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=680433

Thanks!
Good old-style WM6.1 look, I can't wait to get rid of WM 6.5.5

I installed the ROM. Now I have a question - how do I disable the large Sense-styled context menu?
Thanks

Most stable and bug free WM 6.1 rom?

Do we really need the new features in the next subsubsubversion of windows mobile? Wouldn't it be better to focus on elliminating all bugs in one rom?
Could anyone reccomend the most stable, fastest WM 6.1 ROM? I would like it to have office, mms and everything that would normally come in a ROM included, but I believe these can be installed later?
Thanks,

Its really important for you to read the forums - these are the guidelines for installing your rom and recommendations therein. You need to decide for yourself - they are all good. Do a bit of reading and make your decision under the BA Mobile 6 ROM posts.
Cheers,
Alistair.

WM 6.5 ROM vanilla

I want to flash my Elfin with any WM 6.5 ROM. But the problem is, there are a *lot* of them in the wild, and I'm confused.
In http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=541886, you can see a bar at the bottom which is absent in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=426540. Also, in the first one, the start menu is shifted to the bottom.
I'm looking for a simple WM 6.5 ROM with the *least* modifications done to it.
Any recommendations?
Also, is WM6.5 good to use *without* M2D?
First, windows mobile 6.5 is now a very 'loose' build, which means Microsoft just works on the builds and release them as and when they like it and along the way, they work on new BETA features. Or features which do not work well.
Some of the builds have start buttons at the bottom because Microsoft changed some of the features of it (Again, its Microsoft issue).
Do be reminded that Windows Mobile Official 6.5 is not out yet.
Hmmm, thanks for the reply. I have another question.
When I hard reset my phone, M2D, and other M2D components like Audio Manager, HTC Album, Phone Canvas etc. is retained.
When I dump my rom following this guide http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Elf_HowtoDumpRom, will all that stuff be there in the backup? I.e., if I want to flash this backup, will the M2D etc be flashed with it?
If not, is there a way to backup the whole thing? I'm not talking about the apps I install. I'm talking about M2D etc. which are in my ROM since I bought it. Since they are retained even after a hard reset, I guess there must be a way to back them up along with the ROM.

Also, can someone direct me to a guide for HSPL? I found one on this website but it's confusing.
Okay guys, I need some replies fast .
Question:
If I dump my ROM using this method (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Elf_HowtoDumpRom), then *will* the M2D, Audio Manager etc be backed up with it? I think they should, because they were 'cooked' into the ROM, i.e. if I hard reset, they are retained.
...No one?
Well, rom dumping is quite hard.
What? This (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Elf_HowtoDumpRom) process was pretty simple. But do you know the answer to my question?

[REQUEST] The lightest, fastest, cleanest 6.5 576Mo without Sense ?

Hi !
I'm looking for the lightest, fastest, cleanest (Vanila ?) with 576Mo, but i can't find it
All roms are too heavy for me (at the moment...)
Can somebody do this job for me ?
For the base rom, the latest 6.5 build (NOT the 6.5.x) with Titanium
WWE or French (French would be fine !)
576Mo enabled
No Sense, no compass
No multimedia (camera, radio, pictures... useless...)
No games
No Office Mobile, cab available everywhere
Internet Explorer only, Opera is available in cab everywhere...
QuickGPS obviously
And only the necessary minimum to run great this device (internet sharing for example...)
Thanks in advance !
the closest thing to your need i think is Miri 6.5 light rom. Should give it a try http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=607437
Thanks, running it for few days now ! Everything's fine !
But i want a thinner, smallest one !
Thanks in advance !
even smaller? having less programs won't make your rom any faster since there's plenty of ram already that can't be even fully used. Once you have removed manila and some default programs you have the lightest thing this device can run
You can try one of my Regular ROM's They have manila and many other programs added by the user after flash with Preset Installer. If you don't want anything else but a clean ROM you don't need to install anything.
See Link in my stgnature
you could try freyberry v6.0 barebone
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=606932
Thanks for your answers !

Its "home" is a thread about it here on XDA, in the HD2 forum:
Co0kie's Home Tab.
I've been using previous versions for a couple of months and luv it...this latest one is a huge feature-upgrade -- really great. I won't run my phone without it now.
But, yes, you have to be running Sense 2.5. I've experienced no downside, only benefit, using this.

I've been tempted to flash my ROM, but it really doesn't make any difference. I like SPB Mobile Shell so much that I just don't think I'd like any Sense version. But the main reason I WOULD consider flashing is to get that Cookie version with 2.5. It is as close as it comes to Mobile Shell.
The other reason I don't flash is that everything on my phone is working, and I think that a stock ROM is more likely to be stable than a cooked ROM. If I have any problems I may well change my mind.

Find yourself a appropriate official stock rom for upgrade to Sense 2.5, rom 2.xxxxx (for your region), download, install, hard reset, install Cookie`s and you`re gonna rock! If you gonna flash custom rom, don`t forget HardSpl!

I have found that most of the cooked ROMs with Sense 2.5 are actually more stable than stock ROMs. Doring a brief lapse in judgement I decided to flash the updated stock T-Mobile ROM and the speed and unstability almost made me want to smash my phone with a tack hammer. Then I remembered there was a saving grace- the awesome cooked ROMs here. The best advice is to try one...if you end up not liking it you can always go back to stock.

I too flashed the (US) Tmobile ROM updated of Jan 2010. At first it was too slow, but after a lot of tweaking it is now fast and very stable. Actually I have had the same experience with all the HTC devices I've owned. I had a Magician that I flashed, a P3470 stock HTC, and now my TP 2 T-Mobile. In each case I had to massage the unit until it was just right, and in each case it was faster and more stable after about 3-4 weeks. I think that part of it was my tweaks, and part was my learning how the ROM operates.
I would recommend that anyone flashing a ROM consider keeping it for at least a couple of weeks before giving up on it.

You need to go to the settings for the today screen and turn off all the plug-ins. One of them will be named sense. There is no point in having both Sense and mobile shell.
When running sense, you can tell the version by the home screen. If there are shortcuts under the weather icon, then you have 2.5; otherwise it is 2.1.
If you really want your TP2 to rock, I recommend Vostradamus add ons:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=574264
and there is a really cool Mobile Shell theme that looks and functions like the upcoming Windows 7 for Mobile:

New to Tilt 2 - Want Co0kie's Home Tab
Hi guys,
I'm new to the Tilt 2, but not new to the forum. Recently, I had changed to the HTC PURE (courtesy of AT&T's free upgrade), but I couldn't get the Bluetooth to initiate calls from my car. After 2 weeks of struggling with stock and cooked ROMs, different radios and a plethora of other flashes, I finally went to my final option. (Hyundai told me that the Tilt phone was compatible with their Bluetooth.) I took a chance and after much pleading and negotiating, I was able to get a Tilt 2 for no charge in exchange for my new PURE. Right out of the box, it works perfectly with my Hyundai Genesis Coupe. But now, my next dilemna is what to do about the apps and functions on the phone. I have been a loyal follower of TAEL and NRG's ROMs. NRG recently built-in the Co0kie's Home Tab into his latest ROMs. I'm worried that if I flash a new cooked ROM, then the Bluetooth may no longer work. However, if I can at least get the Co0kie's Home Tab, I might be able to live with it all. However, I have noticed that the Co0kie's Home Tab works with Sense 2.5. I don't think that my out of the box Tilt 2 has that. Can anyone assist me in determining what I do and don't have access to? Also, if anyone else has had the Hyundai problem, I would be grateful to hear how they dealt with it.
Maraming salamat,
Miguel

New to HTC Mega

heya guys.
i just bought myself a new Mega last week, and i kinda wondering can you guys recommend which ROM should i pick to flash it? i browsed the ROM section but i don't know which one i should pick. and some of the roms are filled with programs that i don't even know of. which is why i ask for your recommendations.
thanks in advance.
Hello, think that you have to ask yourself why you want to change the stock ROM? Not happy with it? What do you want to see improved? Do you want a lite version or full version?
Ideally you try a few of them and see which one you like best. But first of all would read the posts with the various Rom's so you have an idea what they offer.
Personally can recommend the Rom of Billabongstaff which I use myself. Also read the "new to Rom's" thread.
Succes.
heya again.
i've explored every thread about roms on HTC Mega but i can't seem to find any suitable roms that i really want to use. there's a few nice ones but i don't even know some of the programs installed in that roms. so i need someone to answers me these questions so that i could decide which roms that i should flash.
1. My HTC mega version is
ROM: 1.28.707.3 (66092)
Radio Version : 3.49.25.05
WinMo : 6.5 Pro (build 21854.5.0.80)
Is this an old rom version? Should i upgrade it or stick with it?
2. If i should upgrade it, can i flash 6.5.5 rom onto my phone? what's the difference with original 6.5?
3. If i should stick with it, can anyone suggest what good programs that i may install to this phone? so far i only find SPB Shell and Facebook that's good enough for me.
thanks in advance.

Amienzero, would be nice if that is available but do not expect a resume of all Rom's for Mega....
1 If you can not decide on a Rom because you do not know the programs used than the search function can help you so it becomes quickly clear what they are about.
2 The Rom you have is pretty new for 6.5. You can upgrade to built 21912 (or 21909 in custom Rom) but do not expect a lot of difference.
3 WM 6.5.5 is more finger friendly than 6.5 but it is also a matter of taste.
4 To decide which program you need or like simply read about the application section in Mega or general Windows Mobile but foremost try them yourself. If you read the posts you notice a few popular ones mentioned.
Succes.
thanks Frank C for answering my questions.
okay, i've looked up about WinMo 6.5.5 and i'm interested with it. say if i use HSPL, then flash the 6.5.5 rom. then if i'm not satisfied with it i can just perform a hard reset, right? then i'll be back to the original 6.5?
No if you do hard reset, the rom won't change.
You have to install original rom again.
Find attached comparison between WM 6.5-6.5.3-7......

thanks everyone for replying.
but now i have a new problem. i haven't flash any roms yet but now the today screen shows clock instead of battery. how can i fix that? before it shows the battery indicator but recently i did a hard reset (i messed up the touchflo2d ) and now instead of battery, it shows the time. now i got 2 clock on my today screen. please help.
Try:
Start/Settings/Clock & Alarms and uncheck the box saying 'display clock on title bar in all programs'
This should sort it
sweet! that fixes it. thanks! i wonder how that got ticked.
time to get back hunting clean 6.5.5 rom or wait for that android.
okay, one last question.
my mega uses qwerty input to enter text. is there a way or a program that can change the input to numpad text input? when i pressed the keyboard button in the middle, it only gave me the qwerty and input method (Pin Yin) option.
