I bought my wife a new Epic 4G and she has been having problems downloading from the Marketplace. It seems to be a 3G,4G problem. Even Wifi doesn't start right away, yet does seem faster starting than 3g/4g. It does finally work after about 10 minutes. I know it is a phone problem, not a 3G/4g or Wifi problem, because I have an EVO, and at the same time downloading from the market with the EPIC, the EVO has no problems at all. I do notice once it has downloaded the first item, it seems fine for the rest of the day. The 3g was active before my wife went to the Market to download stuff. She had already received her email, so the connection was there.
Is anyone else having problems downloading from the Marketplace on 3G/4G or even wifi? If so, how do I fix the problem. I do have the latest update installed and it still didn't fix the problem.
The Epic seems to have some issue with logging into Gtalk randomly. I have experienced downloads that wouldn't start myself. Simply opening gtalk will log you in (most of the time) and the download will start almost instantly.

Missing Apps
Same issue here. Many Paid and free apps are missing. Bad deal since I need the phone for work and now I can't get my TouchDown Exchange Client working because it lost the key I paid for on the Market

For me it is not the issue where the download fails to start (though I have seen that too). This issue is that the apps are "not found" on the market place.
NOTE: I can see the apps from my EVO just fine, just not on the EPIC.
Evo is on froyo isn't it? Mabye they are protected apps and won't been seen unless you are running a phone with Froyo. Unless google hasnt registered I18 as a approved build yet.

Interesting... I notice that if I install(ed) a ROM (in this case Epic_Experience_v1.1.3) the apps are missing.
If I wipe the phone and restore a nandroid from a few days ago the apps show up.
Not sure what that means, but at least I can get back to using my email. Still learning all this ROM, Root, Kernel stuff.

I concur with these findings. I'm running Epic Experience 1.1.3 and if I search Market I can _not_ see such popular FREE apps such as Fandango, Where and Google Places Directory.
No idea why..

There have been several threads about this issue. Google has to take action in the Market to recognize the DI18 firmware as legitimate. (Perhaps Sprint has to take action to goose Google into taking action.)
This same problem occurred for several days after the last update.
See this post earlier at xda.
yeah this is pissing me off considering it all worked just a day ago...
I had my Epic rooted ever since I got it....the last few days it got sluggish and got bricked. I got it back to stock tonight and I can't upload apps either. I'm on the version ending in "7" when I went back to stock...if anyone can offer tips that is reading this would be greatly appreciated!!!
im getting annoyed by this GTalk sign in issue... not only I use gtalk alot but also market won't work without it.
I noticed I get signed off and loose connection almost every time I make/receive a call. Or sometimes just randomly.
Hey have you tried this?? I just did this below....
****UPDATE 4 hours later*******
so after screwing with everything I could possibly (clearing cache, resetting phone, rebooting countless times, etc) I logged out then back in to TALK using my gmail account and VOILA! everything downloaded.
Recently Skype has made their app finally available to the world.
Now it can work over WiFi.
(Find on their website or market)
I've tried it on NexusOne and it seems to work. Signs in (when their servers are not overloaded) and even makes calls (for free between online skype users).
On HD2 Android builds the story is different:
App installed and signs in, but will force close immediately at any attempt to do more than scrolling the list of contacts.
What are your experiences?
Edit: Could it be related to LCD Density? Or compatibility Mode?
I couldn not even sign in.It says can not conect and will forse close
it works fine for me.. but that is because i use the app from 3 uk.. but yeah no problems at all.. as they have the Desire in their device portfolio i just browsed to their website from a desire build and installed it..
No problems for me.it works perfect. I have darkstone's v3.1 version.i have download it from market

Do you use the default 240 LCD Density?
Ever since it's possible to increase it I've been use 16 or 180.
I am at the moment with NexusHD2 (2.2.1) build and I will try playing with another build later today, possibly it's an issue with Android 2.2.1.
Skype's working fine for me with Froyostone 3.1 (Desire) with Hastarin 7.1. First time I tried to login it gave an error for login, but I noticed it had to do with my internet connection which was already unstable both via 3G as well as WiFi. I updated my radio from 2.12.50.02 to 2.14.50.04 and now it works fine.
Sound is very clear and all features like skype credits and online numbers work properly. No videocalling yet, but hopefully we can expect it soon...
Thumbs up for Skype!
I installed it and everything worked perfectly...I was a little peeved to find out that it did not work over 3G so I uninstalled it.
Then I decided to reinstall it and wait it out for an update when we can make calls over 3G...now it will not even sign in....any ideas?
No problems for me. It works perfect.
RReckless
Eventually got it to login today.
Keep getting force close messages, especially when selecting the Details tab!
Ho hum...
Works perfectly.
Sometimes i cant hear the people talking but they can hear me and if i want to reboot it it takes along time to exit the app and right after that i will get an error to force close the app.
But when it works i can hear everyone clearlly and without any LAG.
Just reverted to 240 and it got working.
But I hate such big density on the hd2. That's the reason I avoid sense builds to make the most from the big screen :-(
Better use nimbuzz.

For more detail...
Skype works perfectly. I called my cousin overseas on Skype, he answered on his Nexus One. Sound was clear, with very little delay. Answering calls is a bit awkward because I was juggling it but in the end it was easy. being logged on to Skype increases battery drain, unfortunately. I went from 5mA standby to 45mA
Only one problem.
The screen was acting funny during the call when I held it to my ear. I'd move it back and forth to get it to turn off the screen. Sometimes it wouldn't, sometimes it would go dark but not turn off the backlight, sometimes it would.
Anyway, all of this is the app's problem, just need to wait for patches
I can't find it on market, and when i try downloading it from the skype website it says that it is not available for my device ??!? I'm using HyperDroid 1.5
I'm from Morocco, if there 's a restriction by country I do not see why it does not work from their website

A hacked Skype was recently released, allowing you to use 3G. check Engadget for more info.
i'm running mattc's 1.8 with r7.2 kernal, 2.14 radio and energy wm rom. the app loads fine and setup ok. on my first and so far only call i could hear the other party but they could not hear me. the connection sounded very bad and i called back not using skype. that was over 3g so i don't know if i just had a not so strong signal or if it was something else. going to try on wifi and retry on 3g somewhere else. will update results.
Can you guys quit skype or stop it from running? seems to be leeching my battery power..

I recently reset my phone back to stock and for some reason the Market isn't updating by itself.
it's a problem EVERYONE is having right now, if u can connect to wifi it works, some say opening gtalk helps too
edit: apparently now my gtalk can't login now either fawkkkkk
my market actually never updated on its own. im still stuck on the old version. Any reason as to why this is?
well we're talking about manuall updating actually
Would the Google Apps zip for CyanogenMod 6 or 5 work? Assuming is has the latest of everything that is.

He said it isn't updating itself.
Weeks back it was randomly updating itself on different phones. Mine never updated.
+1 on the !update. Never got it. Ever. Did manual update, phone eventually b0rked, did a hard reset, still haven't gotten it. My mother's Transform got it within minutes of coming out of the box. (Actually, after installing a GMaps update.)
here it is
The Android Vending
omg, dude, this is awesome, it worked, is there a newer version?
is this working on HTC hd2 custom android version ?
I have flashed Axura 2.0, Onyx 2.2, and Onyx 3.1. I used ODIN to flash back to JFD between each. I have deleted the data and cache for Maps, uninstalled and reinstalled, and installed the most recent update from the Market. I cannot get Navigation to work. I never had any issues with it on any 2.1 ROMs.
Is anyone else experiencing this? Any ideas?
Yeah I'm having the same problem. I just gave up on it working all together. Haven't discovered a solution that's permanent

So does mine, trying it on Axura 2.0.3, and it worked on Onyx 2.1 as well.
Mine has worked on every Obsidian Rom too. Not sure what the problem is. Is you GPS not working or are you getting FC errors.
Mine works fine also lol.
I guess OP got lost
working fine for me here. both on axura and obsidian 4.2

I was having , and so are a lot of people, the same problem on Obsidian.
We fixed it by going in and clearing out the data from Maps. Then after that Maps loaded the image totally fine with 3G

Yesterday I even had Maps/Navigation problems on stock. I had Onyx 3.1 previously on the phone, and kept getting messages like "location services are currently unavailable", "data connection lost- retrying" and a "login failed" message. Flashed back to JFD, same problems. Ended up calling CS to see wazzup with the network. Sure enough, the SOB started loading maps again.
Sounds more like TMO was struggling yesterday. Not our phones.
Guys, the netflix app that was just released for a few HTC devices and the two nexus phones, WORKS on my DX. link to post with the apk is in the Incredible section of the forums:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=13730742&postcount=16
Hooray!!!
It appears to work on mine... Until I try to watch a movie. It looks like it is about to start playing but never buffers the movie/starts playing. I just see the screen with the play/pause button....
Anyone watching shows/movies successfully on a DX?
Yeah mine never buffers and just stays on the black screen as if it's about to play.
Working on mine also....awesome!!
About as good as a queue manager. Still wont play anything.
Streams on my X fine. I'm running rooted 595 GB.

Are you on wifi? Not sure if that would make a difference.
I am using Liberty GB V0.5
Not working on mine. Installs fine, runs fine, but errors out when I try to play anything. Tells me that my device is not supported and to check out the netflix website for a list of supported devices.
Im running GB 595, what are the people that this has worked for running?
***EDIT***
I uninstalled and then reinstalled and it is working great.
I get a black screen with movie title, pause/play button, and timeline. Would be so nice to see this working.

Yep, wifi. Haven't tried it on 3G yet, crappy signal in the basement where I work.
Could the new Flash update be tied to this app working correctly?

Thanks, some hope then. Would be nice over 3G.
Just tested on my DroidX running .595 Deodexed over 3G and it seem to stream fine.
Oh and I also updated Flash 10.3 before installing Netflix.
I just tried in on 3G and it picked right back up where I left off.
Installed. Says device is incompatible. Thoughts?

Rooted DX .340
I installed the Flash 10.3 update earlier today, however, (on my rooted DX .340) I get the "device not supported" message when trying this Netflix app.
I get to the black screen with the play/pause button, but no video. I'm running deodexed 591. On the Nook forums they've had luck by editing the build.prop to mimic an authorized phone. I wonder if the same would work for the DX.
I wish I could help more :-\
Deodexed rooted .595, a few build.prop edits from imoseyon's bundle that just affect wifi scan intervals and stuff. I do have the flash update.
Really nothing special here, works on wifi and 3G just fine.
I edited the build.prop and it works great but I lost Swype
I'm running .591 LibertyGB V.5 and I'm getting the black screen as well. Kinda odd it's working for some and not all. There's gotta be a common denominator that is causing it to work. It seems most are running GB and on Flash 10.3. I have installed, deleted, reinstalled... Rebooted.... Doesn't seem to want to work. Is there anyway to strip the build.prop from a working device to try and mimic what could be what's blocking it?
