I just upgraded to the Epic last week coming from the Hero. I quickly found that any music app I have tried on the Epic will lose its spot if I reboot (and sometimes even if I don't reboot). I listen to podcasts mostly, so it is important that it remember where it left off. Is there a way to get it to do this?? I did not have this problem on the Hero.
Try winamp. It seems to keel my spot all the time.

Ok, I tried WinAmp and paused my podcast halfway thru and rebooted. It still did not remember my place. I noticed that the phone says it is scanning my card FOREVER every time I boot . . . until it finally says completed. Any other ideas?
Does anyone have any possible solutions for me?

try poweramp....im not sure if it has podcast support though.....but it is by far the best music player available on android.

I Use Pandora almost every day and I had no problems with it on my Samsung Moment. (even though a lot of ppl. had problems)
I'm having problems now with the Shift.
It starts plays almost a song then pauses for seconds and then plays a new song and again just "Almost" and so on.. with every song.
I wonder if this is just related to our Shifts??
Thanks
I just opened up pandora to test and had no problems. I let it play through 3 songs without issue. Are you stock?
I've had this issue with my Hero and Shift regardless of ROM... however, I can pin it down locations. Basically it's a signal issue. Small interruptions in 3G can really through Pandora off it seems.
In places I have a solid signal, (or good days in the neighborhood around the office) I have no issues with Pandora on my Shift.

Are you having this problem while connected via wi-fi, or via 3/4G? If the latter, have you tried disabling the broken Sprint proxy? I would post a link, but apparently I haven't made enough posts here to be allowed to help people. Meanwhile, you can search XDA for "sprint proxy" if you feel this may be your issue.
Pandora has been pretty crappy for me lately. In fact, it's been crappy for the last few months. But over the last week, I had some times where it just wouldn't load a song or play 3/4 of the song and then just stop and go to the next. My main issue is that one of the more recent updates turned off the feature that would stop the music when bluetooth was disconnected. I use it in my car with bluetooth and in the old days, I would turn off the car and playback would stop but now it just switches back to the phone. Really annoying! But yeah, pandora and slacker both equally suck but in different ways

Yeah I did the proxy fix which doesn't really help or make any difference for me.
Other users haven't seen a difference either, seems to work different depending the area you're in.
Haven't tried the app using wifi though cause I don't have a reliable signal right now
Use Pandora everyday, no issues. Use it about an hour plus total per day . Day would suck without it.
Signal issue.... test on wifi

Yea I have the same issue every song .. wifi no prob. Even when I have a good 3g signal all bars are solid still plays almost one song then cuts out. Whats weird is when i had my old Iphone 3g no issues. I'm gonna try my lastfm see if it has the same issues.
Cheers guys.

If you're rooted, this may help... I had issues with youtube, but did this fix and now I'm good to go... You can get your msl if you aren't rooted, but it's way easier to just use the root app...
Yeah, the proxy fix helped me. I couldn't play pandora at all till I did that

Give the Sprint technical support team a call from a landline at 1-888-211-4727 or stop into a Sprint corporate store. There is a known issue with both the HTC 4G handsets in which any app that streams media data may sporadically fail. There is a temporary solution in place until a manufacturer release corrects it. Sprint's technical support representatives can push a soft patch to your handset which should correct the issue you're experiencing. It's called a soft patch because if you have to hard reset your HTC EVO Shift 4G for any reason, the patch will have to be repushed to it. Tell the technical support representative/retail store employee to type CEBU into their internet browser and they'll see the tool they need to use for the push.
Pandora 3g issues
I set my phone to Edge only and now I have no issues with streaming from Pandora.
Here are some issues I've noticed with Media on my phone.
It happens completely at random.
Occasionally I will attempt to play a video file, or an MP3 file using the built-in software. The device will say "unable to play this file type". If I completely shut-down the phone, restart it, then I am able to play the files again. Like I said, happens completely at random, but I will usually have to reboot at least once every 3 or 4 days to resolve this issue.
Also, sometimes and also completely random, my ringtones will simply stop working. I still get a notification on the notification bar, and NoLed still gives me a notification, but no sound. Again, I have to reboot the phone to correct the issue.
Any ideas? Anyone else experience this?
My phone is the Bell 19000M on the latest factory Bell Froyo build with no root or lagfix or anything non-standard. I also noticed this behaviour on the last Froyo build (the one just before Christmas the bricked the phone).
TIA!
Backup data and factory reset as first step .

I've done this several times, each time I don't even restore a backup, rather I manually drag and drop necessary files back onto the device, and manually re-install applications as necessary. But I appreciate the reply.
I can confirm these issues on a i9000 european uk with jvk gingerbread.

Dammit, that's not good news!
This happens maybe once a week or even more infrequently. I had the media not playing twice in 6 weeks and going out of video, closing with task manager and then back in fixed it.
I had the ringtone bug last week and going in to sound and checking which sound was selected showed the circular icon was blue, sound played ok when I selected it again. On froyo, sometimes I could not select any ringtone that was my own, the blue icon would not work.
This happens very infrequently but it is annoying having missed calls with no ringtone played to alert.
I still have the wifi stopping working in perfect reception at times too.

When this happens on my phone, I had tried going into Task Manager to end all active applications, and clear Level1 and Leve2 memory, but it didn't seem to make a difference for me. Only rebooting the phone did.
I am also experiencing this issue.
I am running stock AT&T Captivate.
I have google music, double twist, and mypod installed as well.
Note: I also notice a problem when I unplug power or headphones it sometimes starts playing music.
Folks, I had the same problem with the media files (video and audio)...occasionally had to reboot to play anything on the phone....scoured the internet and found an obscure reference to the official Twitter application causing this issue (was buried deep inside a forum post). It didn't make much sense to me, but I had the application installed, so I decided to take a shot anyway. My media playback problems disappeared after uninstalling it. Haven't had to reboot my phone even once for this problem ever since. Thinking back, my issues started right about the time that I installed the application.
Anyway, I'm no expert so can't guarantee that the source of your problem is the same, but that is what was definitely causing my problem. I switched to a different third party twitter app, and all has been good ever since.
Edit: Forgot to mention that I am also with Bell Mobility and have an unmodified SGS with the latest firmware available to Bell customers

Hi,
Few weeks ago, around EB13 days, my epic on bonsai rom went haywire. After an unexpected reboot (phone froze so I had to pullout the battery), the phone had FC all over and had boot loops.
I had to odin couple of times and flash roms couple of times to get the phone working. During that time, SD contents viewed from my phone had all the letters corrupted. But after odin EC03, thing went back to normal.
Now, I am running nicely in SRF 1.1.0 in EC03. Everything works well but stock music app freezes whenever I tried to skip a song.
First music selected works, but it freezes when I select different song.
I noticed this with winamp and new federico WP7 music app.
But poweramp works, so I use that for now.
But I want to use new federico's WP7 music app. Anyone have ideas I should try?

I would say one of the 3 DRM files have been removed, but if one music player works, they should all work...
Im getting tired of changing this...
I do have 2 drm files frozen. Maybe that is the reason? I will try after I thaw those two files.
Edit: nope.. not working... I will try backing up sd and format it.

The default music app is a drain on battery, cpu, and resources. It's junky.
Google music.
Use PowerAMP.
Or Fede's Music.

So, I'm on Bonsai 4.1.1. I fire up Slacker to do some work and have a little tunes in my head. The song plays fine but when the song is over it doesn't advance. For every single song I have to hit the power, slide the lock up, and the app starts playing the next song.
I don't have anything crazy installed...no themes...no locks...nothing. Just basically a fresh install of 4.1.1 and install apps from the market and that's it.
How do you fix this? I haven't had this issue in the past.

Slacker is buggy. That issue has existed on and off forever even on the PC. However, mine works for the most part fine on Bonsai outside of this happening once in a while. Thankfully I have foward buttons on my stearing wheel to fix it when it happens

I've used Slacker ever since I've had this phone in October. Never once had this issue until I went to 4.1.1.
My Epic is beginning to hate me!
I might try Pandora, but the last few times I've tried it, the quality was horrible compared to Slacker when tied into car stereo system. I guess I really notice since I have a couple of amp or two kicking out 1800 watts.
I had a similar problem with slacker on my wife's epic. Here's how I fixed it.
Go to Applications, Manage Applications, select Slacker from the list, clear data and clear cache if availible.
That will reset slacker like it's a fresh install on the phone. Something in slacker must have got corrupted. Open slacker and login with your account and try again. You won't loose anything as your slacker stuff is all in the cloud.
Let us know how that goes.
Take care,
Smoke.007
As of today my phone will link to my Bluetooth headset take calls but will refuse to play music or YouTube videos sound. My jambox now does the same as well....
The sound will transmit out of the ear piece on my smartphone rather than the Bluetooth device which is confirmed to be synced.
Has anyone else had this issue, and or does anyone know what I can do???

I did have this issue before on a previous phone. I think I was able to get it to work after rebooting the first time. The next time it happened, I ended up having to delete the device in the bluetooth settings and then re-discovered it. Have you tried that?

Wondering if you found a solution to this. I'm having the same problem. It started after the first update. I wiped the phone, tested apps until I found the one causing the problem (Robin voice assistant). Everything was fine until the most recent update and the problem has resurfaced. That makes me think it's one of the bloatware apps I can't remove without rooting. I haven't added any new apps since I resolved the problem the first time. Verizon swears there's nothing wrong with their update. Before I go through the complicated (for me) process of rooting the phone, I want to be sure there's not an easier fix.
Thoughts
Ive had my note 3 for 2 weeks, the phone came loaded with MJ7 firmware and i noticed some popping and cracking while streaming. Took the MJE update and still had the same symptons. Pretty frustrating... I deleted all my bluetooth devices, did a battery pull and rebooted, seems to have really improved. A 100% improvement? NO, but a 90% improvement. Might wanna give it a try if you havent. Hope it helps....
