Could anyone of you who's so lucky to already own an HTC Universal please post if the ROM of this device contains a file called RTCDLL.DLL?
If anywhere, it's probably located in the \Windows folder (or one of its subfolders).
This file is a library that can be used by developers who want to create real-time communication applications. It is part of the Windows CE 5 operating system, but no all Windows Mobile devices include it on their machines.
I would like to make use of this library to write a SIP-based videophone application for the HTC Universal.
Hm...couldn't find it..sorry
I've found that file for you. It's part of the "Windows Real-Time Communications Client API SDK 1.3" wich can be found here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...15-FD1C-4BF7-A505-3F8FAF1E120A&displaylang=en
Hope it helps
Eric
Eric,
That SDK contains the Windows XP version of the DLL.
What I'm trying to find out here is whether the ROM of the HTC Universal contains the Windows Mobile version of the RTCDLL.DLL which can be used to create SIP compatible realtime communication apps for Windows Mobile devices.
I'm sorry it was the wrong one. Have you also looked at the Windows Mobile 5.0 Pocket PC SDK? There is some support for the .dll in Windows CE 4.3. One other source could be www.opennetcf.org

How to install Office Mobile 6.1 at non-english HTC Shift :
0. Requirement :
You must have liberate SnapVUE at your HTC Shift
in order that you can use Windows Mobile 6 .
( see : http://www.modaco.com/content/forum/266537/View-Topic/ )
Only in that case you can install files there .
1. Download the current Office Mobile 6.1-version in your language from the official Microsoft-website :
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...1f-51e2-42f0-ba32-69bb7e9a3814&displaylang=en
2. The next steps are much easier ,
if you rename the download file with a short name ,
for example "office" ,
and save it at a high level folder ,
for example "C:\" .
3. Open at Windows Vista the "Programs – Accessories – Execute"-window .
4. Input the following line :
msiexec /a "C:\office.msi" /qn TARGETDIR="C:\temp"
and press OK .
5. Now the "C:\office.msi"-file will be unzipped at "C:\temp"
and can be deleted after that .
6. From "C:\temp\Microsoft Office Mobile" you can copy the file "office_wpc_WM6.cab" ( 3 MB ) with the USB-tool to the Windows Mobile 6-side at your HTC Shift .
7. At the end you can open your Windows Mobile-explorer and install this cab-file .
8. After all you should delete "office_wpc_WM6.cab" for more memory .

Doesn't work on my german Shift.
When I start Word (e.g.) there is only a window with "error", that's all.
Error
For the start two questions to you :
1. You have liberate your SnapVUE-side of the HTC Shift ?
2. You install exactly office_wpc_WM6.cab ?
If both answers are "yes" , try following :
Install from Modaco-thread the SHIFTpack.OfficeMobile61.CAB :
http://donald.modaco.com/shiftpack/SHIFTpack.OfficeMobile61.CAB
With this pack you definitely become an error by starting word at your german HTC Shift .
So uninstall this pack again under Windows Mobile 6
( Start - Einstellungen - System -Programme entfernen )
and try the right office_wpc_WM6.cab again .

Same problem!!!
Click on Excel and Powerpoint nothing happens.
Click on Word --> "Fehler"
Do you have enough memory space at your Windows Mobile-side ?
We did it the same way as described at post 1 with a NEW German HTC Shift .
At our Windows Mobile 6-side nothing else was installed
except the OTHER ShiftPacks from Modaco-thread
( NOT SHIFTpack.OfficeMobile61.CAB ! ) .
So our memory was :
Free data memory : 21,78 MB .
Free program memory : 19,29 MB .
So with a new HTC Shift and no other installations the Office Mobile 6.1-installation work perfectly .
Last attempts :
With SK Tools you can delete all data trash at your Windows Mobile 6-side .
Or make a hard-reset ONLY at your Windows Mobile 6-side ,
for example with the official hot-fix-tool from HTC e-club .
for french shift roms
hi there,
i liberated my shift as soon as i got it, however i did not sucess to install office mobile, like many others with non wwe shift rom,
first i used document to go for smartphone, to read and edit .doc files, plus agile notes for .txt and . pwi files
finally after trying many office cab files , i find one working on my french shift
here is the link:
http://rs270.rapidshare.com/files/73336760/Microsoft_Office_Mobile_6.1_WM6_FR.cab
i think it's obvious, that office mobile install is linked to the language version of your rom, thus the method shown in this topic should work
by the way UPX4PPC is usefull to optimize the tiny rom space avaible in the htc shift,

hello,
you need around five free megs to install pocketoffice, then you can remove some elements of office in the windows directory.. (powerpoint is around 1 meg )
check in start/settings/Sytem/memory , how much programs mem is still avaiable. now the htc shift has a tiny memory partition we can write, however this should change when we can cook roms.
you can hard reset your shift, and you ll need to liberate it again. but if you go to setting /sytem /remove programs , you could free enaugh memory to install pocket office.
(if you can do not install another internet browser like netfront opera because it takes a lot of space, at least you can add pie+ to pie which is a plug-in adding functions to the original intenet browser)
Thanks a lot, but i'd like to know how exactly it is possible to remove some elements of office. Ive no need to use excel or even powerpoint. I'll try the plug-in for internet, it seems really interesting.
thanks for the tip man!
( msiexec /a "C:\office.msi" /qn TARGETDIR="C:\temp" )
i didn't know that...
GUT REspect!!!!

I got this phone a few days ago but its not able to access Marketplace.. and I can't figure out how to update to windows 7. So I can use it...
I currently using mysimplemobile with the phone if that helps at all.
..is the phone still in WinMo 6.5? if so try the link below, it might help
The Windows Mobile market was shut down by Microsoft, so you can forget geting Windows Mobile apps from it. You need to just hit up google to find Windows Mobile apps, but a good place to look is Freeware Pocket PC, you can also download and install the Omarket and use it to get Windows Mobile apps. The apps will download in a .cab file and you use the file explorer to install the apps.
Now to be honest with you I suggest you install Android on your HD2 because Microsoft has all but phased out Windows Mobile and with the news of the changes that Windows Phone 8 I do not think the HD2 will be able to be updated to WP 8. But if you still want to use Windows Phone 7 then a good start would be the guide I have linked in my signature.
hello xda members,
i am stuck in a problem, it is that in a non lumia phone (lava iris win1) i changed registry values to identify it as lumia 830 device and get windows 10 update to build 14361 (yeah!!!!!) everything worked like flow in this low end device until i foolishly restored it to factory settings, ,,,, it rendered the regisrty values that i changed to original(lava original). now my phone is on build 14361 with non functional store, apps and most important the insider hub setting !!.
now what i did is using interlop tools appxbundle i changed regisrty settings to again lumia 830 one . but to get new insider build again i.e.- 14364 released yesterday (i hope it works again ) i want a functional insider app
i struggled to install windows insider app and that says this functionality is moved to settings(that is not working for me)
i just want help to enroll my device on fast ring through the insider app( not settings hub which is not working)
is there any way to edit registry and fool the app that it is running on windows 8.1 not on windows 10 ,,,, through which i again enroll it to fast ring
few things to note:-
1- in build 14631 i cant deploy xap
2- my phone is non-lumia so MDRT or reflashing doesn't help
,
,
lets see who finds the solution
What that mean.
