I am using an unlocked HTC Legend with a SIM card that is not from it's "home" network. The phone works fine, but it believes that it's roaming all of the time.
Is there a way to change the phone's home network configuration, if there is such a thing?

Is there a way to lock my Diamond2 to use SIM card only from one operator (CC 284 NC 03, Bulgaria Vivacom) ???
I want to make my girlfriend to get SIM from Vivacom .
Not so sure about the simcard part but you can configure the phone to use only 1 network. Go to phone setting, personal, phone.
On the network page, set to manual and pick the operator network u wanna use. That'll get the phone to connect to that particular network only.
Changing simcards should result in no network connection, unless the setting is changed back to auto or set to another operator..

Good solution, but when reboot the phone I get message to select network again and she can choose another network.
Lol don't you think you are over-abusive to your gf??? What's the catch? Unlimited Viva 2 Viva calls????
Really strange case:
I got a RAZR M that I hacked to work with US GSM carriers using this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2166542
I am using my corporate ATnT card with it.
I am currently in roaming (Russia first, now Kazakhstan). Only GSM/UMTS networks here.
I have another simcard with me which is from Russian operator (Beeline). This network is present in Kazakhstan, however simcard is Russian, so in Kazakhstan this Beeline simcard is also in roaming.
Status:
On ATnT card, my RAZR wont connect properly to local cellphone networks. To explain better - it will occasionally connect to one of local operators (KCELL, MCC/MNC 40102), but it takes A LONG time to connect, easily disconnects, and it is very unreliable and erratic.
Moreover, in Mobile Network Settings menu there is NO OPTION to select operator (i do have GSM/UMTS mode enabled, not global).
On BeeLine card, my RAZR happily connects to any of chosen networks, AND operator selection option is available in Mobile Network settings.
I have another phone in my pocket - old Nokia S40 based. This one works perfectly with Beeline simcard. With ATnT simcard it wont automatically connect to a network, but manual operator selection dialog is accessible, and I can select any network and connect to it.
So, for some reason, with ATnT simcard in my RAZR, mobile networks settings menu disbles (completely removes!) operator selection dialog.
Any way to get around this? I have scraped around every possible search criteria, but I cant find any way to force that menu item to appear!
However, I accidentally stumbled upon a weird workaround:
I put Beeline card in
Manually select operator (Beeline)
Turn off the phone
Put in ATnT simcard
Turn the phone on
In this case on startup phone throws in notification (from motorola phone app) saying "selected preferred network not available".
If i click that notification, it takes me directly to network scanning menu, happily displays available networks and allows me to connect. From that point on, it stays fixed to the network I chose.
This means that this is not a problem of simcard or radio or ROM directly. It is some weird trigger built into ROM that reacts to ATnT simcard and removes "operator selection" option from setting.
Any idea how to force Operator Selection option to appear, or invoke it otherwise? Or maybe solve the issue alltogether? My workaround is really inconvenient.
Hi all, recently bought a fake s4 in Thailand which I've figured out is an Alps branded phone?
My problem is that my Three UK sim card won't appear to work in it, I'm not sure if it's the frequency of the cellphone network that won't allow it, or if there is something that I need to unlock in the phone. I've tried some of the unlocking codes from online etc but being that it's fake none of them seem to want to work. Not even sure how to access any of the service menus on it.
From what I can tell three network operates only on 2100mhz. My guess is that this phone does not support this frequency. How can I find out what frequencys the phone supports?
Thanks
Also, just to let you know, when I go to mobile network settings, under data connection it says "3 UK". So it seems the phone is recognising the sim? But still unable to get any signal etc.
Also have tried using Network app from Play store and forcing phone into WCMDA mode which is what Three uses, but won't even allow me in the app, or normal settings. Just keeps switching back to GSM straight away.
I have a Galaxy Note 3 with a problem. When i put my sim card in, it asks for SIM PIN and I type it. Then I get "Emergency Calls Only" or "No service. It wont connect to my SIM CARD NETWORK.*
I have tried/Things I know
-Checking Network Operator and select network from there. Tried also "Select Automatically" still nothing happend. It pops out " Registred on network" but it is not.
- I have changed Network Mode from "LTE/WCDMA/GSM" to "WCDMA/GSM", then!! My network comes up in 5 seconds and go to normal again "Emergency Calls only"*
- My IMEI is not blacklisted! It comes up on screen when typing *#06#.
- MY PHONE connects to the 4G perfectly! I get internet to surf from my SIM CARD! It means the phone is actually connected to the phone. BUT why dont it connect to the operator so I can call?
- Also I have saved contacts on my sim card and then sync to the phone, that means that the SIM is connected to the phone.
This is not a hardware problem, I changed the antenna, but still the same problem happend. I believe this is a software problem.
Everything I change between Network Modes, my NetworkOperator came up in the top corner left in 5 seconds and then went to "No service/Emergency calls only"
I have also factory reseted and installed stock firmware from my country.
Android Lollipop

Is it possible that mobile network signal happen to be poor at the spot where you are?
Hope anyone others below will help you. Anyway, good luck to you.
The signal is full.

Help!! I just got the phone and i have 2 AT&T SIM cards installed only the sim that i select as preferred data sim gets data service. Second sim card only receives 2g cellular service. which is ok other than the following 2 things. MMS messages need data service to work correctly and 2g cellular service is horrible in my building at work. I have tried manually selecting network but only available option for secondary sim is 2g. also tried manually setting up a new APN but didn't seem to change anything. my data connectivity and cellular reception flip when changing preferred data sim . so i know its not a sim card issue
I am not rooted
os = 5.0.2
build LRX22G.WW
KERNEL = 3.10.49-gaa8154f
1.16.40.763#1
baseband version = 202c10_10_10.0.0_151106
Do you have the option to set the preferred network type for both SIM cards separately?
It's under Settings > More (Under Wireless & networks) > Cellular network settings > Preferred Network Type
I only use 1 SIM so I can't see what additional options are available when you use two.

No preferred type is for both i have it selected to 4g/3g/2g i can select the network operators independently. once i search for network one sim gets 4/3/2g options and the second only get 2g as an option. AT&T and Tmobile are showing up
Hmm wish I knew more about this to help you out but I don't have any experience with running two SIM cards in a phone.
Have you used both of these SIM cards in another phone before and had them both work as intended simultaneously?
It could just be a limitation of the phone, maybe it can't have two separate 4G connections at once on the same network?
I'm just throwing ideas out there.

Well I am having a similar issue, I have a bell sim I would like to run as 2g and a koodo sim I would like to be the full 4g. The phone refuses dual active, only card selected for data connection functions; I can choose either, but only one functions at a time except for a couple minutes after switching via dual sim settings
---edit---
I forgot to mention, it activates during a call as well

The phone specs say it can only connect to a LTE/3G network on one SIM at only one time. The secondary SIM can only connect to 2G-GSM.

Given the phone specs. Your connection problem is caused by neither Telus(Koodo) or Bell have a 2G network. Yeah so the phone is pretty much useless to Canadians if you want Bell/Telus/Wind/Videotron on the secondary SIM.
I have used my phone (same model) with two SIM's (ATT and T-Mobile). You can enable data only on a device at a time, but it can be on any of the two SIM's. This is mentioned in the phone specs.

Scroll down to the end note.
Other phones cannot even activate the 4G on the secondary SIM.
It's a little confusing maybe to switch the data, but it can be done - from Android settings.
Ahh, well its still a sweet phone; manually switching isn't a big deal
