Hello everyone,
This is my very first post. Sorry if its redundant one. But i couldnt find any thread with this specific problem.
Here is the thing, i bought HTC legend just 2 weeks ago. I have unrooted legend with Froyo 2.2 vodafone update. Yesterday i bought Kingston 8GB class 4 microSDHC card. I placed it in my legend. It detects it no problem formatted it. But it seems whenever any application tried to write to sd card. I get the message "SD card unexpectedly removed".
I have tried formatting card with Panasonic sd card formatter . Tried formating it under windows. The card works fine on PC read/write. But for some odd reason phone can only read from it
Also stock 2gb card is working like a charm in phone.
Please Help!
Try with some other brand
Usually Kingston has lot of duplicates especially in India

Yes i did consider that possibility. But the thing is card is working perfectly fine in pc. I have 3MB/s write speed when i copy things into card using pc. So if card was not original it shouldn't work even under windows. It just doesnt work with legend.
If i shall not find a suitable solution here. I will be left with no choice but to spend more money. Try ScanDisk.
Anyone??? I dont want to end up buying another card just to find out it doesnt work either.
man i have the same issue using kinsgton 8gb microsd hc, for example i do some photos, and on the 5th one, it says unaable to save file do unsuitable permissions or smth like that...it also mixes my music in a way i cannot imagine ! ahah, it puts like..5 songs into 1 without any pause ...dont know. the stock one is perfect, but i just guess theres problem with the company..they might be fake.
Try to enable usb debugging mode.

3 MB with a class 4 Kingston ?
You should consider that your card is a fake one ...

Any idea how much write speed a class 5 card should have?
Class 5 has minimum write speed of 5MB/s

5MB/s minimum. If class 5 existed
Here is the definition of the class for sdcards :
Class 2 : 2 MB/s minimum write speed
Class 4 : 4 MB/s minimum write speed
Class 6 : 6 MB/s minimum write speed
Class 10 : 10 MB/s minimum write speed
However, certains class 6 are less performant than certain class 2, so try to choose your new card wisely.

sometimes it is not the brand but the shop/seller is the issue. can always buy online from Kingston online shop if u have doubt abt counterfeit.
Hi! Check the lock switch! maybe its turning on when you put the card into the phone...
I had kinsgton 8gb microsd with same problem
work fine on PC with low read/write rate and my HTC legend rejecting it sometimes saying i don't have permission over my SD
anyways, this was due to corrupted SD card. I replaced it and everything works fine now
I had kinsgton 8gb cls4 microsd with same problem
on my LG OPTIMUS ONE with froyo
it notify me with msg "SD card unexpectedly removed"
some time after this notify msg my phone reboot ifself

I have a PNY Class 6 8GB MicroSD for my phone. I was wondering what are the benefits of a2sd, and what are the benefits of a class 6 SD rather than a lower number? I don't currently use a2sd, and wondering if i should.
lower number is slower. iirc, the Hero supports speeds up to class 6, which is faster then the phones ROM

Ok, that makes sense, but why should I use a2sd? How is it better than storing them on internal memory?
if its a class 6 it will load faster.

Ability to have more apps installed, as well as not having to wipe all the applications when you flash a new ROM (although some require you to wipe the ext partition, the ROM chef will tell you if you need to wipe the ext parition (where your apps are stored).
I didn't think I would ever need A2SD until I got to my limit.
I have not noticed a drop in performance opening apps with A2SD on my class 6 card, if there is, its milliseconds.

A2SD moves all of your installed apps to the SD card. If you have a class 6 card, which have a faster read and write speed than the internal memory in the phone, it makes everything run a lot faster since it doesn't have to run everything from the phone.
sorry to get off topic a bit, but ive been looking for a good class 6 card. the only brand i have seen is a-data i believe for about 20 dollars. im not really looking for something that has a large capacity. in your opinion, which one is better as far as brand? and how much did you pay for your card?
One thing to remember though is that class 6 just means it is certified/guaranteed to transfer at 6MB/sec or faster. A class 2 card can still be as fast or faster than a class 6 and there are some out there that do just this.

I wouldn't... every A-Data sdcard I've ever bought has developed bad sectors almost immediately.
Sandisk is the standard, but a class 6 SanDisk is hard to find. The last few I bought were Transcend.

It's on the card itself. It's the letter C with a number inside it. That number is the class number.

thats what ive always been looking for, but as you said its hard to find. if you dont mind me asking how much did you pay for your card and what size is it? also, thanks for the heads up on the a-data card.
I read a review not long ago about sandisk class 2 cards. the tests they ran on them showed they were the equivalent to 10 mb/s. of course you would have to get the right batch number. does anyone know a site that tracks this kind of info?

Depends on how you use a2sd.
If you move dalvik-cache to it as well as your apps it'll be a lot.
But the total amount depends on the number and size of the apps you have installed. I'm sitting with 126/160mb free on Internal Storage.

i was thinking about buying a class 4 16 gb Sd card.. will this help at all i am not running app2sd..so will the sd card make any difference??
Will it make my screen run smoother and fast on Damage Control 2.8??

If you're not using a2sd it probably won't make much difference either way. If you're thinking of running a2sd later spend the extra 10.00 and get the class 6. regardless of the people talking about their high speed class 2 cards, you'd have to be fairly lucky to get those speeds (as someone else noted, depends on the batch of cards) with class 2, or 4.
an also if i run app2sd if i pull out my memory card at anytime will it mess up my phone??
and i have the 1st class right now so upgrading will make no difference when downloading apps to my phone or anything like that??
Hi guys i have been using
FroyoStone Sense - V2 for couple of days now and with basic winmo install, so far I love it.
Although it seems to slow down when more stuff is opened also when using Astro for file explorer.
Since this android build is all running from the SD card are there better cards like faster ones? I'm using the original 16g that came with my T-mobile phone. Is that the fastest i can have for that phone?

im not sure i want an incomplete rom in the nand.
I'm using a 16gb Kingston C10, and yes it's really fast, compared to my old
16gb sandisk C2.
Ok but now I need to transfer my android and all the stuff to the new sd
should I just copy over all the folders and thats all?
I want to keep all my settings cotacts, apps and more!
I recently bought a 16GB Patriot MicroSD card, class 10. I find that after 24 hours of use, things start to fall apart (I've tried several different SD builds). I also have Sandisk 16GB Class 2 card that runs my daily Android software; never had a problem with it in 2 months. I follow the same procedure when attaching the card via a reader and removing it from my computer. I also use the same procedure when attaching the phone to my PC. I have concluded that the new Class 10 card is failing. My questions are:
1. Is anyone using a Patriot 16GB Class 10 card with success?
2. Can you give me an opinion of the best 16GB card when using Android on the HD2?
3. Could the Patriot card be too fast for the HD2?
4. Is there a maximum class rating I should not go over?
Thanks in advance.

Same is true with my very old Adata 16gb Class 2. But, I was hoping to get a bit more speed.
I think class 10 is too fast (and expensive XD ) for the HD2,
I got Kingston 16GB Class 4 and it works perfectly.
Hey all. I've got a 16gb Patriot class 10 installed, been using 1week now with no issues, Cotulla's Nand stock desire rom. Seem a little faster than the stock provided card, not sure if was worth the $ for the slight boost though.

3/19/2011 - my 16gb patriot still no issues. Mine has been formatted multiple times and been re-partitioned with ext3 and even split for dual boot wp7 and hyperdroid gbx v7 and now v9 and have noted no sdcard related problems. Have downloaded and deleted multiple apps, and currently have 6gb of full DVDs on it. Have noted with all SD cards, you gotta pay attention when you're instructed to mount/dismount card via phone or when in mass storage mode connected to PC via USB, or when in PC using card reader or data can get corrupted. Hope this helps.

Hmmm, I absolutely can't seem to keep it from crashing. Right now I'm experimenting with another class 2 card to see if I can manage to destroy the installation again. Glad it's working for you. Might the difference be that I'm running an SD version from the card using the current stock HTC ROM?

After that I check for internet about it. Someone said that maybe Kinstom's problem. It's not stable.

Maybe defy not support class10.

I bought a Team 16Gb Class 10 micro SD and it freeze my Defy, but I read that all Smartphone have trouble with class 10 cards (maemo and WP7 too).
It's something related to voltage (if you use setsvel to undervolt) and with partition (you need format the card with 32k or 64k)
I think Class 4-6 will be enough, until the Android Kernel will support class10.

Did you mean SD Class?
Just look at the card, it has either a 2 or a 4 or a 6 in a circle stamped on it. Thats the class. The class = the number of MB/S it can transfer.

No. Class=speed only. He said the partition have 32K 64K.....I think that is not Class. Because the class can't change when you format the sd card.

If you want to find out what partition your card is just plug it into your computer then mount as SD storage. Right click on the card from "computer" and select format. The default settings your card is set at will be shown. You can change it to other sizes, and formats (like FAT, NTFS, but FAT32 should be default and used for phones). I recently formatted my Samsung 8GB class 6 at 4069, and no issues so far. Don't worry it won't format unless you select to format, so you can do this just to check.
Hi there, because of this thread i bought a class 6 16GB Trancend SD card. Formatted it with 64kb clusters now have 11,2 Write and 21,9 Read speed (in SD tools).
Thx you all for the advice not to buy a class 10!
Running GB 2.3.4 nandroid.
Hi.
I recently bought myself a 64GB class 10 Sandisk card from Amazon which I was going to use with my Note 3. When I first put it in I formatted the card in the phone. And then I took a few pictures and videos and all seemed to work fine.
The next day when I was taking some photos it suddenly switched over to the internal memory and I got the message that it was unable to save to SD card. I checked the gallery and the last picture i took was corrupted. So after this I tried taking the card out with the phone turned off, put it back in and started the phone. I was able to take some photos but when I was going to record a video it corrupted the file again.
After this I put the card in my PC and did a full format to exFAT and tried filling all ~59GB with pictures, videos and other files and from what I could see no files were corrupted.
Then I formatted it once again in my PC to exFAT and put it in the phone. After a few pictures it once again corrupted the files, even the camera app (default one) crashed at one point. Formatted the card in my phone again but same problem.
I then tried the card in my Gopro camera, first formatted it in the camera then recorded several videos in both 4K, 1440P, 1080P and took several pictures and everything was fine.
I'm not sure but the card seems to be working in other devices. Do you think the problem is the card or my phone? Before this I've used a 16GB class 4 Sandisk card with no problems at all.
Any tips on what I can do?
Thank you in advance!

Yeah I've tried that a few times as well and it didn't help. But as I mentioned the card seems to work just fine it other devices. But in my note 3 files get corrupted.
Do you know of any program or any other way to test/confirm that it is the card that's bad?

What write and read speeds were you getting in the PC? The Sandisk models are among the most faked models and that is by far the most frequent problem that I have seen. There have been also certain batches with problems, but Sandisk is always replacing those almost no questions asked if it is a genuine card.
I also have a 64GB Sandisk Ultra which was used about 1 year in my i9300 and now almost 4 months in the N9005 and so far I have never had any problems (but I am keeping an eye on the 128 GB models if those seriously go down in price).

I just ran a test in the program H2testw 1.4 and got these results:
Warning: only 60872 of 60874 MByte tested.
Test finished without errors.
You can now delete the past files *.h2w or verify them again.
Writing speed: 8.49 MByte/s
Reading speed: 17.5 MByte/s
H2testw v1.4
So the reading speeds seems fine I guess, it also filled the card with files and verified it.
I would assume that if it was a fake it would have slower speeds and maybe only 2-4GB of space?
I am using the SD card adapter that came with the SD card, and then I put it in a USB SD card adapter in a USB 2.0 port.
Is anyone else having problems with 64GB SD cards? It's as if my Note 3 wasn't compatible with the card since it is working fine in other devices and isn't a bad card according to the test I did.
Sorry .deleted.
Sounds like a hardware fault on the Note 3... I've been using both a sandisk and a samsung 64gb class 10 card on both my note 3's with no problems from the start...
Never had a problem with file corruption....
sdhc and sdxc are 2 different formats - sounds like you could use a 32gb sd card fine but it has issues with the 64gb sd card.... 64gb sd card is the newer format sdxc....
Unfortunately here you hit a snag... Unless the samsung sites list 64gb as ok to use on the Note 3 then they may just say to to warranty repairs.... If 64gb is the listed size (generally "up to ") you should have no problem. It does sound like your card reader doesn't like sdxc... Unless you can get your hands on another 64gb sd card to find out you not be able to use your 64gb sd card...
