[SOLVED] Screen Lock Sounds - myTouch 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have been having trouble with the lock sounds for my screen. Whenever I lock and unlock it used to click. But for some reason it now only clicks whenever I have a headset plugged in to the 3.5mm jack. I have no idea what the hell could have caused this. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I'm going to try a nandroid and restore when I get home from work tonight. But I would like not to have to take the time to do this. Thanks guys!

Your system volume might be turned down. When you have the dialpad pulled up, do you hear beeps when you press the keys? Do you have "clicks" when you press on icons, the app drawer, ect? If not, download an app from the market called cvolume and check your system volume.

Thank you very much man! That was the issue. I don't know how I got it turned down in the first place. Thanks again though.

Phone stuck on 'silent', touchscreen broke...

Hi all! My buddy has a Sprint Mogul, and his clumsy ass has dropped it one too many times! Anyhow, the display works but the screen is cracked and the touchscreen does not respond. The phone was set to 'silent' before the touchscreen crapped out, but since he cant touch on the volume to change it, its stuck on silent now! Is there anyother way the ringer can be activated, at least until he can get his hands on a new one?
Thanks!

I saw this post and got curious, so being ocd, i had to try and find an answer. hehehe
If the phone volume is turned of "Silent", go to "Comm Manager", just hit the button on the side of your phone. Use the "D Pad" to highlight the speaker icon and push down on the D pad= enter. It's now no longer on silent.
Now if you want to change the volume of the ringer without using the touch screen.
If you have a registry editor go to
HKCU\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\Ring\InitVol
Changing the setting to anything from 1 to 5 will turn up the volume of the ringer.
I searched in the Windows directory for an app that would turn up the ringer volume, couldn't find anything, so i did a search in the registery for "vol" and came up with a list of things. This seemed like the most likely one to try, works good.
You can get there with a little work only using the buttons. And bob's your uncle

LOL, you are a great solver, man!
ajilopez, have you solved your problem? have you tried to reboot, use another media player, use another song?
[email protected]: yes i did. my alarm doesn't work, it doesn't ring, no screen taps etc. but when i use my bluetooth headset, i hear everything from the headset.
Tried a hard reset already?
uhh...haven't done this sort of thing before...how?
Turn off the phone.
Hold the left and right soft keys down and keep it held while you press the on button. Don't release the left and right keys until the colorful screen shows up.

Ehm...maybe you should have mentioned that all data stored on the phone memory will be gone after this.
So make a backup before hardresetting!

Volume buttons do other things of htc music

Is it just my phone or dose the leo's volume button change track not volume when using the HTC music player as it is rather anyoing and havent worked out how to change the volume in music player without having to go into calender then back again.. and i do hope just isnt a dumb question as it been bugging me since ive had the phone with no luck.
The volume buttons have only ever changed volume in HTC Music on my phone. In fact, it uses a slightly different volume screen. Instead of going to the full-screen volume thing like on any other screen, it has a nice little popup overlay of the volume while still being able to see the album cover in the background.

you write that as if everything is fine and dandy when it clearly isn't. yes sometimes it changes the volume like you have stated while, on the other hand it decides to change the track instead.
what we need is a solution to this.
i encountered this problem today in my hd2 youtube application (volume button got the video forward or backward instead of bringing the sound up/down). i uninstalled g alarm and restarted the phone and it came back to normal. hope this helps you.
Here's another thread about this problem. It's vital that all people with this bug let HTC support know about it, so please report it! Maybe we could even get a fix in the upcoming 1.48 ROM update...

The problem will come back. Resetting the device solves the problem, but only temporarily. No need to uninstall G-Alarm.

[Q] My Phone Keeps Beeping

I just recently bought my Note 4, and have to say it is the single best phone I have ever owned lol. I am still trying to learn about it. I mean it is Rooted and I do not even know what that means LOL
Anyways the reason I joined is because I need help. This has been happen off and on, my phone keeps beeping every time I shake my phone. I did not know you can shake the phone and even have it do anything (I need to really learn more about my phone haha). When I am out walking the beep drives me bonkers! It will even bleep during the start of a phone call. I recorded the sound and really hope that I can upload it.
Thank you in advance for any help you may be able to provide. I am sure it is just something simple, but I am not seeing it
Hi there,
A simple Google search brings me here:
http://forums.androidcentral.com/samsung-galaxy-s4/282858-2-tone-beep-sound-constantly-playing.html
Did you try turning off NFC to see if this causes the problem?
(This doesn't seem to happen on my handset when turned on btw.)
Else turn off Orientation Lock maybe?
(Seeing the fact you say it occurs more when you move or shake your handset.)
Question: Does the sound also play if the profile is on silent mode?
Kind regards, Stefan.
Thank you for taking the time to respond to my question
I came across that same thread when I was searching for answers before coming here. It did not find it relevant because my NFC is not on.
I was able to kind of see a screen before silly me accidentally hit the back button. I did not see the name of the app, but it was a white background with a picture of an orange mic and switch on the bottom in orange that says sonar. There was probably other things on the page but that is all I saw for the split second I saw the screen. Then it is after it started doing the beeping. When I look at my apps the only ones I have that have anything to do with my mic is S Voice, Voice Recorder and Voice Search, and not one of them are what I saw. The beeping I am hearing same kind of sound I would hear if I tap Voice Search, but that is not what is causing the beeps.
Hi again,
It does sound like the Voice Search beep, but it seems different.
You could try to disable double tap home for Svoice but I doubt if it would work:
Double tap the home button to*open S Voice.
Press the menu button in the top right of the app.
Tap “Settings.”Uncheck “Open via the home key.”
Did you check the screen orientation lock yet?
I assume you have rebooted your handset right?
Kind regards, Stefan.
We are becoming fast friends! LOL
Yes it does sound the voice search, and it does go away after I reboot my phone, I would just really like to know what this is though so I can try to prevent it from happening or turn it off when it does happen.
Again, thank you so much for caring enough to try and help me.
An other thing that ia worth mentioning is under:
Accessibility these is: direct acces.
When enabled it enables certain user set options by 3x pressing the home button.
But I could not find any option that enabled this beeping.
It could very well be a third party app causing it.
Anyways good luck, maybe anyone else has some input.
Kind regards, Stefan.
You might try safe mode to see if an app is causing it. It will temporarily disable all non-system apps. See if that fixes it. If so, it is an app you installed. m.androidcentral (I can't post links yet so change this to a '.') com/galaxy-note-4-safe-mode

Volume Drop Down Slider Menu Lingers

When I use my volume buttons, the pop down menu lingers. I counted 20 seconds for the menu to reascend on its own.
I think this happened after the the recent update, before, the menu would pop down for a couple seconds. The only way to get it to reascend is to swipe up on the screen, which affects the app I'm on and it's getting pretty annoying.
My phone isn't rooted and I'm running Nova Launcher, if that's pertinent information. I've tried restarting the phone. Anybody have any ideas on how to fix this?

No, the lingering has been there since day 1 and on stock too. It's "supposed" to do it (not sure why though). You can make it disappear by tapping the screen outside the volume box though.
It gets annoying, but I think the point is so that you have enough time to expand the volume control box and actually adjust different volumes. They definitely were generous on how long it stays up though. I mean, 5 seconds would be long enough in my opinion.
Yeah it's very annoying.
