Is it just my phone or dose the leo's volume button change track not volume when using the HTC music player as it is rather anyoing and havent worked out how to change the volume in music player without having to go into calender then back again.. and i do hope just isnt a dumb question as it been bugging me since ive had the phone with no luck.
The volume buttons have only ever changed volume in HTC Music on my phone. In fact, it uses a slightly different volume screen. Instead of going to the full-screen volume thing like on any other screen, it has a nice little popup overlay of the volume while still being able to see the album cover in the background.

you write that as if everything is fine and dandy when it clearly isn't. yes sometimes it changes the volume like you have stated while, on the other hand it decides to change the track instead.
what we need is a solution to this.
i encountered this problem today in my hd2 youtube application (volume button got the video forward or backward instead of bringing the sound up/down). i uninstalled g alarm and restarted the phone and it came back to normal. hope this helps you.
Here's another thread about this problem. It's vital that all people with this bug let HTC support know about it, so please report it! Maybe we could even get a fix in the upcoming 1.48 ROM update...

The problem will come back. Resetting the device solves the problem, but only temporarily. No need to uninstall G-Alarm.

Does anyone else also has that -when you use the volume buttons- you get the touchflo volume screen rather than having the original small indicator on the left in the youtube client??
anybody knows a fix for this? (it isn't really important, cause I don't use youtube very much, but it has worked before )
whoohoo, my very first own thread
yep, get that too... but tapping in the grey areas returns you to youtube faster than just waiting for it to eventually close
I know, but it's just annoying dat you can't watch a movie when you change the volume (because you'll miss 2 sec due to the volume screen)
But if there isn't any fix for this... it's OK... (I'm not going to do a hard reset just for this stupid thingy )

I know this question has been asked already but has anybody yet found a way to disable to hardware buttons whilst the phone is locked to prevent accidently answering or rejecting an incoming call whilst removing the HD2 from your pocket or pouch?
I have tried various software, tweaks that i found whilst searching this site but cant get any of them to work
Had my HD2 since Tuesday and love it, just need to find a way to stop answering the phone when taking it out of the pouch!
This is very important thing and I hope someone will find a solution soon.........
hi
there are solutions, pokectshield and s2u
iosu
I too need this, I have tried the ones mentioned but they either dont work or they have their own slide ontop of the HTC slide, so 2 in effect.
Would be nice to have one that just disables the button!
S2u2 and pocket shield did not lock the volume buttons for me so when in pocket they were still pressed annoying me a lot when I listen to my tunes. Pressing any other button was bringing the screen back to lock so in other words no difference at all.

How is this done with S2U? I installed it and the buttons still worked.
My experience is that if anything the bigger slider caused more chance of it unlocking accidentally, if the phone moves and the screen rubs against your leg. Wasn't an issue with a resistive screen but mine was worse for 'unlocking itself' with S2U. So far it texted a nonsense sms to an ex and rang my mum all by itself - both dangerous!
I always put it in that way yo help protect the screen from being knocked accidentally.
There is a perfectly working solution for this here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=556801
Simple and nice, install and soft reset and never worry about pressing the button while taking your phone out of the cover.

That application is for locking the hardward buttons when in a call, not when the phone is locked, or am I missing something?

It's quite the other way around. At least the cab I installed. Hardware buttons work in call, but when the phone is locked and there is an incoming call the buttons are locked (to prevent the accidental pressing).
Hence, not disabling anything you actually would like to use.
EDIT: This is what the description says:
"InCall Lock will temporarily disable Send (aka Talk, Green) and End (aka Red) hardware buttons when you receive an incoming call in order to prevent accidental call pickups/rejects while you are pulling your device out of your pocket. All other hardware buttons are untouched."
So the name can be obfuscating, but as the description says, the yes/no hardware buttons are disabled during an incoming call (prior to answering), but active during the actual call.

I don't know if I'm misinterpreting the question, but there is a solution for disabling the hardware keys to prevent accidental answer/reject of an incoming call which I've linked to earlier in this thread.
I have that solution installed right now, and when someone is calling I cant answer or reject by pressing the hardware buttons, I have to use the slider on the touch screen.

No one here wants buttons to be disabled when call is incoming. We just want buttons to be disabled when you put device in to sleep.
Go on test it. Put music on in music tab or WM player or any other with your headphones or without. Press red button to put device in to sleep mode (use manual lock if you have disabled auto lock). Press volume buttons and see what happens.
If you have s2u2 or pocket shield or nothing effect is the same.

so how do you want to answer a call with this cab installed and enabled?
i also would like to prevent unwanted presses....but i do want to reject or accept a call on some way, without mispressing a button.
When a call comes in the screen is enabled so I just slide to answer or reject. It won't happen by accident in all likeliness, and removes the huge annoyance of the hardware buttons being accidentally pressed. It's the one thing that majorly pisses me off about this awesome phone.
If they wanted to, they could simply do a cab file that disables them perhaps when the proximity sensor detects the face of the phone is against something. That would be good too, unless I'm not considering some factor.
Hmmm, I've just installed that app and it seems to only partly work.
The reject call button locks perfectly but the answer button does not lock so it can still be pressed. I also managed to press the home button and get to the Sense screen once, but when I tried this a second time it didn't do it, so I think it might be a bit buggy.
A definite step in the right direction though, at least I now have fewer buttons that can be pressed accidentally!
Hi
When using the HTC Sense Music player, the volume key sometimes acts as forward/backward in songs and some times as volume key. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong here. Cannot find any settings regarding this issue

I don't install things like that, but have this problem. It's nothing to do with anything that's installed on top of the UI.
This is a known issue, and has been discussed on here before. There is no answer at the moment. It's most likely a feature that has bugs in it. It would be nice to just stick to either volume or track skipping, depending on what you want. I normally get volume control from the buttons, but it does occassionaly skip tracks.
HTC may be aware of it - they may not. Since it happens so rarely for me, I'm not too fussed, but if it's bothering someone then they should report it to HTC, just in case they don't know about it.
solution
i found a solution but it's a bit painfull!!!!
hardreset your htc and after that it should be fine.
i've done this and my volume key it's working as it suppose to do!

It's an issue with the UI. It's possible that you could cause this by installing something, but uninstalling it would not stop it happening as the problem is native.
The volume key is dual action key when useing the HTC Sence MP.
in order to operare the the volume just turn the screen to "off" by pressing the "OFF/End Call "key.Enjoy the music.

uh? Actually the whole volume function is messed up on the HD2. Sometimes it works, then you suddenly no longer see the volume indicator when using the buttons when watching a video, or it forwards/rewinds the videos/music and best of all sometimes it just crashes the whole device! Soft-reset and it's back to normal. There's a bug in Manila and HTC has to fix it.
This bug and the sms bug are the only problems i have with this phone.. both are so frustrating..
its a real pain in the ass sometimes, i experience this problem too - its definitely a bug
I recently got a replacement Vogue only to find that for some reason, when I run Windows Media Player, I cannot turn off the screen using the power button and continue to hear music. The screen has to be on and does not turn itself off which causes major battery drainage . Does anyone have an idea?
My suggestion would be use Nitrogen, much better media player than WMP.
What you can do is change the toggle settings with a button, so the screen itself turns off with whatever button you wanted to map it with. Here's how to do it: Tools>Settings>Buttons then select Screen Toggle, then choose a button, and there ya go Now you will be able to turn the screen off while you rock on!
Alright, I decided to get both Nitrogen and attempt to fix the button settings. Nothing worked. It seems as though the phone recognizes the power button as a close application button rather than a simple sleep button. Putting the phone in sleep (pressing the power button) still turned the music off. Does anyone else have any suggestions? BTW im running WinMo 6.1. To add, I cannot recall this happening before I unlocked the phone, but I am still unsure of whether this still happened or not because I cannot remember.

Here is a way: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms838354.aspx
somewhere there is a cab for this.
here it is: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.php?p=1564987&postcount=2
I installed the cab but still nothing. I also took a look at the MSDN post but I have no clue about writing C++ so... Anyone else want to give it a go?
EnterpriseNX01 what did you unlock your phone with?
Also, if I remember correctly before I switched to Android, my phone would not sleep while playing music? Or is you problem that your phone will not go to sleep at all?
I unlocked it with Cokeman's unlocker. I did get an error message that I am just remembering now, Not sure if it has anythign to do with it, but I am running windows 7 x64 and when I ran the unlocker i got an error message about something called sleep.exe. I had another post that someone told me just to ignore it and it would still unlock my phone, which it did. The phone sleeps, but does not play music while it is sleeping, or in idle (i.e. whenever i push the power button to turn the screen off).

I used this one, it works on WM6.5, I don't know if it does on earlier builds.
i successfully updated to froyo from kies. before this i had the stock rom and did not install any custom one
after updating my proximity sensor works when the phone is held vertical in an upright position
but after making a call, if i keep it on the table and close the sensor, the screen doesn't turn off. it should turn off and was working fine in 2.1 for me
can you guys confirm if the sensor turns off even when laid flat on the table?
also, the volume up/down button does not silence the ringtone when i get a call
please reply so that i can confirm whether the problem is with my phone or with the new release.
Not sure about the sensor problem but as far as your second problem is concerned hold the vol down button for a few seconds to mute the ringtone

Proximity Sensor is problematic
Yes The Sensor does'nt seem to be responding towards the end of the call. Just use the home key to light up the screen.
The display screen timeout settings does not automatically turn off even after specified time.this happens very often and need to enable screen timeout settings again and again.

Yes the proximity sensor isn't working fine. Screen does not turn on after a call. So I need to press home screen every time.
And long pressing menu button in call log does not enable search bar which happened perfectly in 2.1

these problems are seriously irritating me. thinking of going back to 2.1 or some custom ROM is samsung does not release an update fixing these problems.
Few more problems that I had observed....
1. If you open contacts and press back button you won't be going any where
2. Previously I used to connect my phone using bluetooth to my PC (Ubuntu) but now even after turning on my Bluetooth along with visiblity phone is not visible. Once I was lucky and recognized my phone as "V5" though the device name is different.
3. If you try to add pics to the contacts from your gallery the time taken is very long which was not the case with Eclair 2.1
4. Previously with Launcher Pro plus on Eclair I never had to "Force close" any application, but after upgrading to Froyo the first call itself raised a warning for force close. Even after sometime in my other call I couldn't End my call as the screen was not responsive.
After a struggle for One day on latest Firmware I feel that its not that worth to wait this much amount of time for official firmware.

i think this update was hastily released.
many bugs in it.
if you see the in-built task manager, the "uninstall" button is not even properly designed.
even accelerometer has some problems
the worst bug ever is the camera bug
theres this geo-tagging option..
until you get a fix on ur location camera will force close..
and it cant be disabled at all..
the only way to get around it is to use 3g or disable network mode in 2g..

+ add one more bug to the list,
the microphone is also not working properly with different applications like Talking Tom or Talking Parrot, previously they used work on 2.1 without any problem or distrubance.
Did anybody also had the same problem?
One good thing with the Froyo update is previously my phone is used to restart unconditionally with the stock firmware (randomly sometimes during call or when Ideal). But till now no such weird behaviour in the current release.
