I've been reading all over this forum trying to understand how to fix the GPS issues where it will not lock on the new Froyo beta release. I don't know if I had this problem before I went to Froyo, since I flashed my phone first thing when I got it.
Anyway, can someone please walk me thru the step(s) I need to take to get this GPS thing fixed. I know it has something to do with modem.bin, but I'm not sure what the exact steps are to follow.

Ok, whats up guys, First off, My name is Silver, and I come to you in dire need of help.
Before I start, this is concerning the device, The Huawei Ascend (M860).
Recently, we here at myascend(dot)org have all been stuck on Android 2.1, and recently IcarusMod came out, and everyone updated to that.
But upon looking farther, I came across an 2.2 update that was released in China for the C8600 (The China Version of the M860). We tested it, and BAM! it worked...but with 2 problems. The Data Service and Wi-Fi did not work. Phone Calls and Text worked fine, but no Data. One of the Developers was able to crack the thing open and Deodex it and load it using Clockwork v2.5.1.8 (Which is how we got the phone calls working)
Apparently there are no APNs
I started doing some research and I thought that maybe if i transfer some of the system files like APN-Configs.xml into the zip, it might work. But alas, I failed.
MY QUESTION IS...Would a developer be nice enough to take this signed Froyo port and possible help make the Data work and Wi-Fi work. Here is the download for the Froyo Update(C8600)
(Note: FLASH USING CLOCKWORK v2.5.1.8)
Apparently, I cant post outside links, so if you could, please go to the site MyAscend(dot)org and you'll find my forum post under Development...Thanks...
Wrong forum I think.
bump?? This plox?
Check the build.prop for something like:
"rild.libpath=/system/lib/libhtc_ril.so"
Data wont work if it's pointing to the wrong, or a non-existent, file (correct me if i'm wrong).
Check your working ROMs and see what file it's pointing to, it might be different in the Chinese version.
Not got a clue about wifi though i'm afraid.
Ill do that! thanks, Ill talk to my friend about developing it....meh, this is gonna be a long project
anyone else experiencing this? before the update my phone and GPS were great since the update the GPS (using navigation) hardly ever locks and then when it does it then loses lock and doesn't regain it again
help???
What is your softare version number, 1.72 or 1.84? I had the same issue with 1.72, and that along with other bugs got me to go for a custom rom.
After flashing Android revolution 4.0 along with a new radio I get a fix at my GPS almost immediately.
I think you will find some apps on marked named GPS fix, you could try and see if it would be of any help, don't think it's a offical fix for it yet.

After I flashed eViL's myTGB v1.0 - A Pure Gingerbread Espresso ROM, I've had problems with my navigation not picking up GPS. It just says is "Searching for GPS..."and I was wondering if anyone else had this problem or if there was a fix for it.
I haven't used that Rom but every I have had GPS issues after switching Rom's I followed these instructions laid out real clear and easy at http://teamroyal.net/gps.html
Good luck
Thank You, I have tried a few ROMs too, and this is the first time I've had any GPS problems...I have tried the first two alternatives from the website you posted and I am ganna try the other one..and If that doesnt work I'm ganna try another ROM..
No Problem I tried the third one but my phone was not able to lock on to GPS at all, so I had to use my backup gps.conf file I made before the edit. Let me know if it works. Not having working GPS is a killer.
I tried the alternate and I had no luck...and I tried the ROM i had before and I get the Navigation to work...so I decided to just try out another ROM..and my GPS and Navigation works..But now I have the damn tiny/blurry MMS...and I cant find a fix for it...but Ill keep looking...Thank you for your help...
I recently installed this Rom on my T-Mobile Vibrant Galaxy S and I cannot get any bars or signal to make calls. Im new to this whole flashing thing but, know how to add stuff and fix with directions, can anyone get this working please so i can use phone, if this doesnt work what can i do, I'm without a phone with no back up.
Well don't panic. It'd be best to check the forum from where you got the firmware, someone may have run into this issue already.
Alternatively just flash another rom, find one you like and follow their instructions.
Help gentle folks...
The update broke my Wifi (as we all know by now) but I made it worse and now have bricked my tablet.
I can get back to the chinese rom, but really would like the US ROM Acer_A500_1.104.02_COM_GEN1 which is where I started.
I can't seem to get to the from the developers forum and would really appreciate getting this file.
I am comfortable with ADB and will need minimal instruction...if I can get the ROM.
I'm not fully interested in rooting although I will if need be...I just want to get back to where I was before the update.
Thanks,
Ralph
Update Brokre my WiFi Too
The update Broke my WiFi too. I contacted Acer support and they told me that "Unfortunately, you are first person reporting this issue." Please contact them, so they do something about it. It is a very expensive brick.
Any help, is welcome.
