Help gentle folks...
The update broke my Wifi (as we all know by now) but I made it worse and now have bricked my tablet.
I can get back to the chinese rom, but really would like the US ROM Acer_A500_1.104.02_COM_GEN1 which is where I started.
I can't seem to get to the from the developers forum and would really appreciate getting this file.
I am comfortable with ADB and will need minimal instruction...if I can get the ROM.
I'm not fully interested in rooting although I will if need be...I just want to get back to where I was before the update.
Thanks,
Ralph
Update Brokre my WiFi Too
The update Broke my WiFi too. I contacted Acer support and they told me that "Unfortunately, you are first person reporting this issue." Please contact them, so they do something about it. It is a very expensive brick.
Any help, is welcome.

Hi. I've tried this before, but got dead ended. I'm trying to keep the wife happy with her SPV5000, which I grabbed from eBay. She's complaining about sluggish response times and connectivity issues.
I'm hoping that someone can point me to a pre-cooked ROM for download that will be easy to upgrade. I would also be able to provide FTP access for uploading such ROM (pm me).
Please let me know. Thank you.

There are a lot similar messages in the forums at this site, all from people with bricked phones and waiting for a solution that is not here (yet). The easiest and quickest way to have your phone up and running again is to send it to either you provider or imei-check. But this will cost time and money. In the meantime, there are a lot of tips and tricks (not allways working though) in the various threads, you might give that a chance. What is the risk? I would say, there is not any, since your phone is allready dead and the warranty went out the window the moment you tried to flash another ROM.
I took the risk and went to the store and told them that my phone was dead after installing a program, they looked at it and just send it for repair, so far so good. hope it will come back alive. From now on no more risks!! thanks for your tips people!! Let you know when phone is back and fixed...
***UPDATE*** Damn. I ran the update (filename is RUU_Vision_BellMobility_WWE_1.34.666.1_Radio_12.28b.60.140e_26.03.02.18_M2_release_154437_signed.exe), and the update process began. It started off with "Erasing User Data"... then "Sending"... then quickly brought up a window that said:
ERROR [156]: IMAGE ERROR The ROM Update Utility cannot update your Android phone. Please get the correct ROM Update Utility and try again.
This sounded like a good match for this device. I'm stuck now. Anyone have any ideas?
***old -UPDATE*** I found a Bell stock update... gonna try this out.. thanks for reading.
Hello all. Forgive me, I'm a Blackberry user and I just got an HTC Desire Z (it is locked to Bell in Canada - CDMA carrier?). I'm waiting for my unlock code to arrive (as I am on a different/GSM carrier) and I'm getting antsy to try it out.
I tried searching this forum tree using many different terms but all I've managed to find were custom ROMS and foreign official ones.
First thing I want to do is update it... I downloaded HTC Sync, which installed all the necessary drivers. (Except HTC Diag - found this online). So now I can connect it to my PC without any driver drama.
Then I went looking for an update. I found RUU_Vision_HTC_WWE_1.34.405.5_Radio_12.28b.60.140e_26.03.02.26_M_release_155556_signed.exe (but to be honest I wasn't sure if this is correct for my phone - I tried it anyway). It got so far as to reboot the phone to start the process but it then told me it wasn't the right update for my phone.
So that's where I am right now. I've been reading a lot about rooting, etc. but don't even want to go that far just yet. I just want to start off by getting a nice official software update/rom to get this thing up-to-date.
Currently, the version on this phone is 1.01.666.1 (sounds pretty old to me). I want to get rid of this blasted watermark (and I'm hoping a software update will take care of this).
Which ROM/software update is right for this phone? Any info / links would be appreciated. Thanks!

I'm assuming from your initial post that you're not on Bell Canada and are wanting to use it on a different carrier? If that's the case, use gfree (see the wiki) to unlock your device (and fully root it, if you want).

Hello again
Myself and notebookgrail are soliciting some assistance in getting the updated em.xap from DVP devices.
While I understand many of us have updated to nodo, this is not a firmware update, but a software update.
We are looking for users with the following firmware (settings: about to check)
SW version 2250.1800.7355.205
HW version 2.1.2.0.0
If you have a DVP with the above s/w and h/w versions and would like to help get the updated em.xap, PM at once. We only need one user for this but it would help development greatly.
Thanks
Please help, i would like have an upadated EM. IT make take dell forever to release new firmware.
Even if folks have Nodo pre-installed on their newly purchased DVP, please come forward to help us.
Have any users stepped up yet? I can get access to a student developer account if necessary for when the firmware update comes and would love to help out.
thanks but we have the em.xap and there is some good stuff in here...for ONCE!
Please elaborate..
What kind of good stuff
just some dev stuff looks promising
I think we need someone in India.
Or maybe you shall try to contact the one who asked about freezing with nodo and 512mb ram weeks ago.
We got hold of the new EM App. Just wait for a couple of weeks to get some of the goodies

Anything to enable backup at all, or copy the data file to use between hard resets?
My story is long and can be found here, but the short version is my imported v20 lost radio after an official LG update late last year and has cost me money sending it around the work to find out it'll cost me even more to fix due to non-lg parts.
I tried to follow steps to unlock, root and throw a custom rom on, but failed. I simply didn't have time tk go through it all properly and am basically stuck in team win with the ability to flash a rom but unable to flash said rom.
I still don't have time to figure it out but would like the phone in some sort of working order.
Is there anyone in the UK who can fix it if I send it? I know it's a risk, as I may not get it back, but given this is a community praised in helping, I would like to put my faith in the right place.
Please drop me a message here or send a private message and we'll get it going from there.
Many thanks
