[Q] Black EVO model to white Conversion kits? - EVO 4G General

Is there a way? any products out there I can buy to make my evo look like the white one besides just getting a white battery door?

I would like mine like the white one without the white back door.

Take it apart and paint it. Its not hard. Watch a teardown video then sand her down to the red then spray paint whatever color you want. I clear coated mine afterwards. Wish i had pix but the evo is my only camera lol

[MOD]HTC Evo Battery Cover/Red trim

Spent some time on adding the white carbon fiber vinyl to my battery cover and scratching the black rubber paint from the trim. Enjoy.
I still have to sand down the trim, I might paint it a bit darker red to match the color under the kick stand then add a layer of clear coat on it.
Looks good, though not a fan of a completely white back. but it does look good nonetheless.
love the trim
Looks pink.

which is part of the reason I might re-paint it darker to match the color that is beneath the kickstand. In person tho it doesn't look pink.
dang mite have to swipe ur idea. looks pretty darn good. since mine has a few chips on the corners.

Takes a while to do this so i know the pain it is. Not a fan of the white though, this does add a lot of character to the phone. I have done this with the black phone. The white makes the red look much lighter where the black appears to be darker and it looks much better to me, personally.
Wow, that looks really cool. I've always wanted to do something cool like that to my phone, I've never felt confident enough though.
Edit: meant to quote. That's directed at both the OP and the poster above me.

what grit sand paper did you use? i was thinking something like 220 or higher so not to leave sanding marks. again i must say those phones look pretty dang fresh

When I sanded mine I used 400 to strip off the rubber, and then used 1000 followed by 1500 to get it nice smooth and shiny.
what type of overlays are people using? I was loooking at DiNoc from 3M, but also am tossing around the idea of using real CF fabric and resin... then after it cures i could just use a drill to drill out the stock holes and such...
I'll probably order a pre-made black one (you get another battery cover with it) from this guy here

He's where I got the idea from. I still have yet to sand my trim down but i'll update the pics when I do.

HD2 custom paint job(unfinished)

so everyone says about the customizabilitly of this phone well, now heres a another one a iron man themed paint job, so what do you guys think?
I can't say it looks good because it doesn't. Paint job near the camera isn't complete; the speaker is covered in paint. You can try to clear the holes with a toothpick.
And the plastic looks like wood now
But! I like the idea.
yeah, as i said its not finished those are just the base coats, gonna be cracking out the metallic red for the spray gun in the next few days and that should clear up the woody plastic
Heh i thought you made it like wood on purpose that would be a nice touch. The wood+gold hd2 would look classy once finished.
I liked it a lot

only the gold backcover looks good!
the red paint, how long will it last on the rubber?
well i had to strip back the rubber, as the top layer affected the paint and it caused it bubble up like nothing else, but i didnt mind as i was painting over it

Will you be posting some pics if you're done now? I'd love to see it finished, I think the concept's pretty good (although I have to say that in those images it doesn't look particularly good, sorry) and it should be nice with the metallic paint.
i'll definitly be posting pics when its done, just tryna find the time atm to even go out and get the airbrush kit and what not is a chore

Painted Sony Ericsson X10

Hey guys, just decided to post some pictures of my SE X10 which I custom painted. Leave a comment and tell me what you think please!
It's nice looking in my opinion . But first picture - I think you should make some XPERIA words and leave SE logo - should look much better! (SE logo in blue maybe? ). Can you show front compared to rear?
i have done nothing to the front of it im afraid, so its just the normal one
Here are the pics though!
It looks good too, but I think white front will be muuuuch better for it .
How should I go about painting the front as it is all glass?
Looks artistic and good, but the lack of paint at the front ruins the mistic lol xD
How did you pqint?? And to paint front just put like masking tape on the screen

I took the phone apart and then sanded the parts, then I spray painted it white lightly 4 times. Then to get the blue you have to hold the can far away from the phone and make it look like its splattered. After it had all dried, I sprayed it with a clear coat the make it shiny and stop the paint from scratching! It probably sounds complicated because I am not very good at explaining it, but its really quite simple!

Black HTC One high-res out-of-the-box photos

My Black HTC One (32 GB) just arrived (Handtec pre-order), I saw someone on another thread requesting high resolution photos of the black model so I've taken some and dumped them in a Google Photos (Picasa) album. Free for you guys to view but please contact me for permission if you want to use them elsewhere or commercially.
This unit seems pretty good, no stuck pixels, no light leaks, no scratches out of the box. There is a very slight gap at the top but it's really nothing that bothers me and is MUCH less visible on the black unit than the silver/white. So far I'm happy, just about to root it so I can restore my Titanium Backup apps backup.

Maybe he works at Walmart for all you know. Was a valid question.
Is the screen raised slightly over the top speaker grill or is it just the camera angle?
Looks fantastic. Congrats
philask... the DPreview.com guy right?
Naah I'm sure he doesn't use a One as a daily camera...
Second photo row, middle photo... my black One has exactly the same, the aluminum grill is just a tad too short, so you can feel the plastic.
And I have 2 very small dust particles trapped between the digitizer and the LCD... return time
http://oi44.tinypic.com/5m05co.jpg
More particles are visible in the pic but isn't it always like that when you take photos
Also this was with sunlight so the black looks much lighter, more gray.

Had the same on mine, thought there was dust under the digitizer glass, try Scotch tape. Got it removed so I could move on with applying my protector. Worked perfectly, no dust or bubbles under it now.

Already tried it... But I already have confirmation from the sales manager that I am entitled to an exchange
I nearly got the black One but went for the silver in the end. Have the black iphone 5 which appears to be the same sort of material and that has nicks all over it so figured the silver would be a better looking device in 6 months. Damn sexy in black though!!! Oh and nice photos.
Did you use the One to take them...still laughing.

$4200 of Canon gear.
metal
The black is nice, but understated. The silver is real standout. I don't have Samsung but when you think of android you think metal and the ONE looks like some sort of android/terminator phone.
I received my black One as well. Received it Saturday , everything is flawless. Except.... One dead pixel, but I don't think its worth sending it back as as defects go its not too bad! Also all the issues with stock might mean I dont get it for a few week etc

Of course on G+ you can look at the photo details----- Canon 5D mk III. I wish the one took pics like a 5D.
Deleted, don't want to pile on.

Protective Plastic

Hi, just got my LGG2. Love it! For anyone who doesn't know there are very small pieces of protective plastic on the sides that are hard to see. If your device feels rough at all anywhere, there's still plastic to peel off.
Also, does anyone know if there is a piece protecting the camera lens? I can't tell but it kinda looks like there's one on there. Thought I'd check before I get too aggressive with it. The GS4 had one and many people don't even know it and it stays on for weeks giving subpar pics!
I'm wondering the same thing about the camera lens. It kinda looks like it does but I would need a razor to get it started ....and that might be asking for trouble.
Sent from my LG-D800 using Tapatalk 2
Exactly my thoughts. Hopefully someone knows for sure. Seems kind of odd if it doesn't since the rest of the device was practically shrink wrapped.
so I tried to see using a needle if there was anything there and didn't seem to be. I also placed a piece of tape on it and pulled it off to see if it lifted at all. Didn't seem like anything there
All I know is the blue ring around the camera is not really blue. There's plastic on the ring. The camera lens itself I can't tell.

If you have a blue ring around your lense, you still have plastic on it. Take a little work, but got it off with my fingernail.

Meant to quote rquiett who was having trouble using tape and couldn't figure if he had a plastic cover.

ROFLMAO!! I thought that was how it was supposed to look because of the sapphire lense or something! Ahahahah!
At first I thought it looked weird, but then I started to like it. Now I'm torn! Do I take it off or leave it!?

Do you still have the plastic piece? Can you snap a pic if it? I still cant tell if i have one in there and i want to see the shape of it. Lol! This is ridiculous. Why would some have one and others not? Has to be one on there.

I don't. I took it off in the store.
It's a light blue color, but looks darker with the grey behind it. It's the exact size of the bezel around the camera, edge to edge and it is a semi-hard plastic (when i got my nail under it, it shot across the sales floor). I promise you that you will know if it's on there. It's either blue or the exact same burshed aluminum color as the volume rockers (Verizon).
Is this the protect piece that's over the camera and can be removed? I been trying to remove it and I can't.

So have anyone else been able to remove this so called protective film or Plastic piece off the back of the camera? My friend tried and the entire piece that surround the camera lens, began to come off.

What???
I think you got something else going on over there. It took me all of two seconds to pop it off with a fingernail. It's not stuck on there hard. So if you're applying any force to it, then you're messing with the bezel not the plastic.
I really suggest you swing by a store and check their display model. It almost certainly has the plastic off by now and you can compare in person.
Good luck
