i've been lookign and looking, and just can't find a solution to fixing my problem, not knowing any better I attempted to partition the phone through clockwork and now it no longer fully turns on (goes black after the S screen) and I've tried installing the stock Rom with Odin but it just simply does the same thing, is there a way I can delete the partition I created? i'm pretty sure that's the problem, but i'm not sure how to detect the phone's internal memory without having the phone on and mounting it...
Are you using the 512pit file and selecting repartition in Odin. Also which Odin flashable are you using. Go to Eugene's site, google ebproductions and find Froyo that doesn't brick.

i'll try Froyo that doesn't brick, guess i'll let you know how it goes
Yeah, eugenes froyo that doesn't Brick + the normal jfd will get you back.
Basically, you are bricking your phone to fix it

so are you saying to get eugene's froyo on, then do the install for the normal (i.e. the link i provided), and it should work?... hopefully...
if it doesn't (working on it now), is there a way to mount the internal memory onto my PC without the phone working, kind of like download mode? so that I could just simply delete the partition

oh, it's your guide lol... just a quick question, do i have to do the whole dba reboot part for the froyo that doesn't brick? cuz i'm having trouble getting that to work, or can i just revert back to the original stock now?
yay, it worked... didn't have to do the whole adb thing
Every time I was reboot the phone goes to this menu, Odin doesn't recognize it, windows doesn't see any device attached, and no options(or combo of) have worked.
Any ideas appreciated!

If you have a tmobile vibrant, you need to flash the original JDF firmware ... if you gonna flash the KB5 firmware after make sure "re-partition "is not checked off in odin ...You are getting that error cause you are missing some data files that are only in the original firmware...
ive gotten that screen when i flashed without disabling vodoo. i always use the "froyo that does not brick" flash through odin.
as they say!
power off phone
pull out battery
GRAB THIS STUFF : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1047087
turn on odin
attach phone to pc with usb cable
now while holding down both volume buttons put battery back in.
now you should be in download mode and go back to stock with odin from here!
make sure u put the proper .pit and .pda file in there proper places on odin and ur set to go.
Enjoy and also make sure u have the proper samsung drivers
U can buy or make a jig I made one easy and cheap gets in download mode everytime
Oh man, everytime I odin, that screens comes by, flash froyo that doesn't brick by eugene with re-partion check, then flash a stock odin rom with unticked repartition. And there you go, a clean phone. I had to odin last night.

Jig doesn't put the phone into download mode, neither does key combo+ usb+ battery insert. I think I'm screwed, unless there's a way to access a zip file from the external sdcard.

Hey, I'm helping another XDA member with the same exact problem and it took me a long time, but made good progress. He's running froyo now, but can't install apps. So I'll definitely be able to help you with this.

I totally understand. Unplug the battery, take out the sim card, and sd card....leave it alone. PM me so we can set up a time to work on it and I prefer skype because of screen share, it makes it easier for me to show someone what to do.
0.00 internal storage and the external reads 0. I have flashed every Odin file I could find, tried the heimdall one click. Nothing is working. Any ideas? I promised the phone to my father in law and he is in town for the weekend.

I don't really know, but here are some ideas.
Did you disable voodoo lagfix?
Try "eugenes froyo that doesn't brick" for the 60th time.
On ODIN put a check mark next to Re-Partition, but you said that had no effect.
Hmmmmmm, I bet eugene knows the answer. I feel like there is a thread somewhere that discusses this issue.
If you figure it out, let us know!

I was on cm7. No voodoo. I didn't have a SD in the phone and plugged it in for mass storage. Upon realizing that, I popped one in with the phone still connected. That's when I noticed the problem. I haven't been using my phone. I Odin'd from cm7 weeks ago and didn't touch the phone until I plugged it in for mass storage.

Take a look at this, not sure if it's the same thing as that on cyanogenmod link above:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1230059
I hope this will help
I had the same issue when I was coming back to a froyo rom from CM 7.1, I did everything you did flashed froyo that didn't brick and nothing so this is what I did I used Odin JI6 file from this thread ODIN JI6 and the zip comes with ODIN 1.3, 512 PIT,T959UVJI6.TAR. I used that version of odin 1.3 to flash JI6 tar and pit files and checked re partition, when it rebooted it was stuck at the factory recovery so I pulled the battery, held vol up vol down and plugged in the usb cord to get back into download mode. Now I opened ODIN 1.7(DL LINK) and flashed froyo that doesn't brick also check re partition when it re boots it will go into a boot loop you know this, so THEN yes one more odin I kept the same version of odin open 1.7 and I flashed Eugene_2E_JK2_Froyo.zip also with re partition checked. After all this I was still having issues with market then I cleared market catch installed trigger rom and now I can install apps again I would like to tell you the three odins was unnecessary but it wasn't until odin with JI6 that now my phone work right as for CM roms I never have one issue flashing then but if I want to revert back to a 2.2 rom it's a all day event hope this helps
EDIT LOL try the two peoples above me^^^ method first they seem to be on the right track ^^^
Also noticed that when I flash JFD, I get no errors(datadata, sd card, mmcblk0) in recovery after it boots from odin. The catch is, it goes black after the boot animation. Only the soft keys will light up. Really super stumped. Adb wont see my phone, so its making it really hard to manually repartition the internal storage. I have never been a adb wiz.

Negative Ghostrider I thought I did. But no dice.
Well damn. Have you tried different versions of Odin? What about a Voodoo kernel and conversion, any difference? There is something I remember reading a while back about an issue like this, I don't remember exactly what it said, but I'll try to find it for you.

I can't find the thread I was thinking of, sorry. I was thinking that your issue here sounds very similar to when people had done the partitioning via rom manager/cwm. Perhaps fixes for that will lead you in the right direction.

Sure does. Im going to jump on the new T-Mobile pre-paid plan. $70 a month for unlimited everything with 5gb of 4g speed before they throttle you. Use my old ass G1 until I either get a sgs2 or a prime.
I was reading a thread about the storage issue(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=957615), and Im 300% sure that the phone is ****ed. I think I roasted the internal storage completely. A true brick. Do I get a cookie for bricking the un-brickable?
I recently bircked my vibrant with a bad kernel flash, and it wouldn't get past the Vibrant Samsung screen. I fixed it, so I decided to post how I did it here, to hopefully help someone. I am not sure if this works on newer Vibrants. If you have one of the first batch then you should be fine.
Step 1
You need to get ODIN and the stock Samsung/T-Mo 2.2 rom. I am not allowed to post outside links, and the file is too big for an attachment, so you will have to search for it, try googling "Download Samsung Vibrant Stock Rom"
Download all the files and extract them somewhere where you can find them.
Step 2
Once you have those downloaded, start up ODIN, for pda, select the pda (.tar) file you downloaded. For the pit file (make sure you extract it, it should be .pit not .rar or .zip) select the pit file you downloaded.
Step 3
Now, pull the battery, and re-insert it. Make sure your phone is turned off, and hold down VOL+ and VOL-, then plug in the USB cable to your computer, then phone. (DO NOT press the power button on the phone) Wait a second, and the download screen should now show up. Simply press start on ODIN and wait for your phone to get the the unlock screen. All done!
If this worked, please reply and tell me!

I am not sure of any ROMs that still require odin, as CWM is a lot easier to use. I would reccomend going back to stock, rooting the phone, then installing CyanogenMod. If you're fast enough, you can get it done and have a working phone in about an hour.
Well the only mode I can get on the bricked phone is download mode with the jig.
After that ODIN works. I've never been able to get ADB to play well on this computer.
There is an ODIN version of stock 2.2 I may try if I don't find something newer. Thanks! I did find a guide on how to make an ODIN ROM but it is a bit late for me to do it...

Ok guys I have a Samsung Epic running Gingerbread EL30, kernel version 2.6.35.7 Hardware version D700.0.5.
I have read and read and read both here and on SDX, and I'm still lost, also I'm as phone literate as a rock.
What I want to do is obtain root access to my phone without replacing or changing anything because I like the performance of eth phone, I just want to get rid of ads, and some of that good old Sprint and 3rd party bloatware thats killing me. is there a program out ere anywhere that simply gives me root access, without changing roms, kernels and stuff like that?
Download and install teamviewer and pm me the id and password and I can do this in a half an hour or so..depends

This ^^^^^^^ but you will have to replace the kernel to get clockwork mod to stick. B16 has pointed you to the right place. Just follow the video and make sure you have a good cord, the stock cord is known to be crap. A Blackberry cord is better.

You don't need to install another kernel to keep root. You just have to remove the restore-recovery.sh file (I think that was the name). You would have to install Clockwork twice to do it.
1. Install CWM via Odin and reboot, pull battery once it shuts off and before it reboots, put battery back in and do 3 button boot into CWM recovery
2. Install su.zip and reboot. Once rebooted it will restore stock recovery but you will have root
3. Use some kind of file manager like ES Explorer and delete or move the restore-recovery.sh (I think that was the name)
4. Install CWM via Odin again and reboot. This time CWM Recovery will stick because that file has been removed which restores stock recovery.
I have done this on my phone and my friend's phone and CWM recovery does stick.
I was told the recovery.sh is not in EL30.

It did on my phone and my friend's phone when we did the OTA from EI22 to EL30. After doing the update, I lost root so I tried to go into CWM recovery to reflash su.zip and saw that it had reverted back to stock recovery. After I installed CWM twice and install su.zip, looked in the filesystem and saw the restore-recovery.sh file was back in it again so I assumed that the EL30 update put that file back in. It was a simple fix either way so I didn't really sweat that it had removed root and CWM recovery.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Since I already have EL30, I'm hoping I don't get any updates pushed to my phone, now that I have complete root access, I can install whatever I want
Just make sure to return the phone to stock should you ever have to take it back to sprint.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA
Why? if I take it to Spring it gonna be because the thing is totaled and doesn't work
Besides this is my last Phone from Sprint, I have another epic ( factory) from Best Buy and with their black tie service they couldn't care less if its rooted or not and thats the next phone I'll have turned on if this one breaks
Well guys thanks, for all the help but I just smashed my phone with a ball peen hammer several times, Google market said it was updating to Google play and it totally screwed my phone up to the point it went back to a factory startup, and since I have ptsd am under a lot of stress I lost it and destroyed the problem, Now I'm stuck with my wifes phone and its gotta go to best buy and get replaced cause its a total pos.
