Help htc magic wont boot

hey everybody out there its my first time posting here but im an avid reader on the forums so heres my issue , a co worker of mine recently gave me her old htc magic and i want to give it to my Gf cuz shes always on my Mytouchslide lol so the issue is this it wont boot pass the rodgers logo , i have access to the SPL , and recovery mode but no matter what i do i cant seem to boot from the sd card so can someone please help me out!!! PS I DONT THINK THE PHONE IS ROOTED
here are my spl specs (SO I dont get YELLED AT LOL)

When you boot into recovery using (home+power) do you get a triangle with an ! or do you get a menu? If you get a menu, does it say anything at the bottom of the screen?

i get the triangle with the ! and when i press power + home again i get the Android system recovery utility
this is what i see
Use trackball to highlight:
click to select.
reboot system now [Home+Back]
apply sdcard:update.zip[alt+S]
wipe data/factory reset [alt+w]
E:cant open/cache/recovery/command

Your going to have to make a goldcard unless that SPL will let you boot a custom recovery. Let me do some searching give me about 5 minutes. Or you can add me on Google talk. [email protected]

i get same problem after i had up radio from 6.35.07.29 to 6.35.10.58 by change name from update- radio-6.35.10.58.zip to update.zip & use old recovery after my phone will start again & suddenly it shows pic...white box with white arrow ...phone... After 5-7 sec. It's disappear ( black screen )
same as this thread...htc magic bricked after update of radio...pls.advise pls.pls...thanks you very much..

restore
take batt out and back in. Hold down home button and power at same time untill restore comes up. (hopefully clockworkmod recovery) scroll down to backup/restore.click on ADVANCED RESTORE.
Hopefully you have some nandroid restores on phone. however the restores PROBALLY WONT RESTORE normally. you have to click on one in advanced restore and restore each section from very BOTTOM TO TOP.
EXAMPLE.
1.RESTORE SD-EXT
2.RESTORE CACHE
3.RESTORE DATA
4.RESTORE SYSTEM (NEED TO REBOOT TO RECOVERY NOW BEFORE STEP 5)
5.RESTORE BOOT (REBOOT TO RECOVERY ONE LAST TIME AFTER RESTORE BOOT)
6.REBOOT SYSTEM NOW
IF BOOT DOES NOT RESTORE(STEP 5) AFTER ALL OTHERS RESTORE, REBOOT INTO RECOVERY AGAIN, AND NOW USE NANDROID RESTORE NORMAL(NOT ADVANCED) FROM THE SAME FILE YOU WERE JUST RESTORING ADVANCED.SHOULD RETORE. REBOOT GOOD LUCK. reson for all this is your boot loader is prob not unlocked. I hope this helps.

Are you running stock or do you have a custom ROM installed? Can you get into fastboot by holding back+power to turn the phone on?

1. My item seem to be brick... I can't go to fastboot or recovery...because of when i take batt. Out & put in ...my item will start up & show white box & white arrow to device ...go to black screen....i tried to do same as more than 10 times..it's still like this....
2.my items up rom & flash recovery hero before brick ..last time i up rom from custom rom hboot..1.17.2007...radio 6.35.07.29...

[Q] Infinite Reboot (Hardware or Software)?

Hey everyone, I was wondering if someone encountered this issue before and can help me out. My MyTouch 4G has a pretty serious problem, it doesn't really want to boot up. When I power it on, it vibrantes ones, gets into the MyTouch 4G logo, then vibrates again and turns itself on, just to turn itself on a few seconds later and repeats...infinitely. I can always get into fastboot to flash the PD15IMG.zip using the volume down button but once it's done it does the same.
Now that's not saying it never boots up ever. Once in a long while of rebooting infinitely, sometimes I noticed if I leave it there it actually does boot properly and once that happens, it works just fine. However, if I ever turn it off fully (battery pull or turn off fasboot and power down), it does the same infinite boot loop with a small chance of booting successfully.
The phone did this when it was s-on and s-off, before and after it was unlocked. I was wondering if anyone ever had this issue. At first I thought it was software, but now it seems more like a hardware problem? Is there a sticky key that is being pressed down that is forcing it off each time it is loading?
Any help would be great, thanks!

Well what you will have to do is either flash the PD15IMG and restore back to 100% stock and see if that fixes the problem.
or if you can get into recovery, given you have Clockwork Recovery, is flash a different ROM to see if that helps.

I've tried it using this FILE but the same things happens once it is done and asks me to restart. Clockwork recovery doesn't work, if I choose recovery from fastboot it'll restart to the infinite reboot state.
Also, another problem related to the infinite reboot is that if I plug the phone into the charger, it will start up on its own and infinitely reboot. The only way I can get it to fully turn off is to yank out the battery and leave it unplugged, or turn it off in fastboot while leaving it unplugged. If I plug it in and any given time, the phone will power up on its own.

I have. to fix it, hold the volume down and power. go into "factory reset" and press power. it should throw you into Clockwork Recovery. Clear out the cache/data then reboot your phone. hope this helps the next guy.

I swear I've gone through almost every thread and googled almost everything I could to try to get this phone out of the "HTC" boot up screen. It just stays there forever. It's my friend's G2 (I have a G2 as well) and I have no idea what happened but I've tried everything.
Initially, I was going to go into recovery and just restore a backup of mine but when I got into recovery, it showed an loading bar and an image. I have a feeling that clockwork recovery isn't in the phone anymore or well, it's obvious that I can't get into recovery. I've tried fastboot via adb and tried flashing a new one but the thing is that adb can't even detect the phone and I tried to flash it anyway cause it was detected in hboot but it still cease to work.

are you using the touchpad to select in recovery? Do not use the Power button to select...

adb and fastboot are two different programs- adb won't work in fastboot mode.
Do you have fastboot on your pc? You could just flash directly from there, although it's generally considered riskier. Also, I think there are at least two versions of fastboot floating around. HTC provided one, the second one gets compiled as a host binary when you build a CM ROM, and possibly a third gets compiled with the ASOP ROM. The CM version is more versatile because it will flash yaffs images, such as the ones that CWM makes when it backups your data.
You are also on the shipped (non-engineering) hboot, so I don't know if that will let you flash a new recovery.

I wonder if this is a case of faulty eMMC?

Whgat version of Recovery did you have flashed? What version did you attempt to flash?

FYI, I sent my phone back to HTC when it was doing something similar to this and they fixed it for me. I think it was a bad eMMC or something else internal because I noticed some signs that the phone had been physically opened.

[Q] Stuck trying to fix mytouch

I have a mytouch that i have been trying to fix for the past 5 days now and have been to every corner of the internet trying to find an answer.
Background:
I rooted my phone and was running CM7 with no issues till it wasn't keeping my accounts and wouldn't let me add my accounts back on my phone. I decided to go back to stock and read that you were to just run the PD15IMG file. With previous rooting experience i went to clockwork and made a backup and also wiped my cache just to make sure. The update went smooth till restart when the phone was stuck on the splash screen.
Issue:
If i try to re install the PD15IMG file the phone will start to update but gets stuck on "BOOTLOADER - Updating". If i enter recovery i get to the green sync arrows with a phone for a few seconds and then the phone goes black and vibrates around 7 times. When in HBOOT USB the computer will recognize but ADB will not. In Fastboot USB, fastboot will find the device but when i try to erase or flash anything i get "FAILED <Remote: not allowed>"
My bootloader reads:

Phone vibrating 7 times, if it's the same as for Nexus One, means - overheating CPU, which in turn means - dead phone that needs warranty replacement, if still available.
Sorry for bad news.

Wait give it some time in a.cool place because that's what I had to do got mine if that's the case

It'll only be a temporary solution. Unless you really heated your MT4G before getting those signs (having it under the car glass in black jacket, for example), there is no way that the CPU will reach overheating temperatures on its own. And when it does - it means bad stuff.
I can suggest (not joking!!) to try and turn on the phone while it's inside a freezer. If it turns on and functions properly there, but starts acting funny when outside - it's 100% overheating confirmation, and nothing can be done.

myTouch 4g won't start up.

I was updating the phone to OS 2.3.4 and while it was downloading I was browsing the internet and all of the sudden the phone froze, it didn't do anything for minutes, and then I took the battery out, when I put it back, the phone didn't want to load, it got stuck on the mytouch logo. I started to read and I did some steps to see if it work. I used the method pressing volumen down + power to go on HBOOT. I tried recovery first, then when it rebooted I got the red triangle with the exclamation mark. Then I turned it off and I tried factory reset, it took like 30 minutes or so and it didn't do anything. I was reading some threads here about some similar situations and I don't really want to do anything because they're instructions for different situations.
When HBOOT is on the screen it says:

I bought this phone from someone two days ago, they told me it was rooted but I don't really think so. It was working perfectly until I started to download the update.
Hope someone can help me solve this problem.

Nope, it's not giving me any error, just the red triangle with the exclamation mark. I "restored the stock" following the steps and it didn't work, but it didn't give me any error either. It won't just load, and now I can't even select the "factory reset" option. When I select the recovery option, an update icon with a phone appears, then it vibrates seven times and shut down.

I had the same problem. When the phone vibrates seven times, it's due to a hardware failure. If you still have a warranty on the phone, get it replaced ASAP
