Was in Walmart and saw nexus in T-Mobile line up at Walmart here's a pic
cept it clearly says "Black Be...." and can't see the rest......
/close thread
It's running 2.2 as well.
Oh yeah. You expect us to belive that Walmart has nexus one with froyo preinstalled, has one asymmetric shortcut icon on the screen.
Mods please close this thread.
not only is it allegedly running froyo...but it has a paid app installed as well. lol.

Could be Fancy Widget instead of Beautiful Home, which is free.
Still, it's clearly just been placed there for a photo op.
Not to mention... every other phone on the line is a dummy phone...
Is that you on the frontpage ? http://www.peopleofwalmart.com/
wow. he tried to make a funny. big deal.
I'll tell you what's wrong with this picture: it's that Google hasn't done it.
Nexus should have been in stores day one so people could see it and handle it.

There are a few things they did wrong. That and secondly they should've made sure HTC used the greatest and latest hardware. **** that Apple would envy.
I don't know if you guys are serious about this being fake, but I'm sure it's real. Go to any T-Mobile store, they will tell you that they are NOT getting the N1 and that stores like Wal-Mart are.

First, they could and most likely would have a live handset if they just received the device. Second, if they had a live handset, anyone could go apply a few "customizations."
Even if it is fake, Wal-mart is getting the Nexus One. That's part of Google's, "Oh the online store didn't work out."
seriously guys... use some logic.
I have seen way too many threads in this forums with false claims; and the worst part is that people try to defend them and help spread the misinformation. And, in case, the OP was trying to be funny, next time, please label it so. Many here are ready to believe anything that they see on the internet.
Soon we will have to rename Nexus One General to Nexus One Gossip
Anyways, this is my last post in this thread. Whatever we say... those who want to believe it, will believe it.

I'm not saying I believe the picture, and I'm not spreading false claims. I was informed by my local T-Mobile store that Wal-Mart will be carrying the Nexus One. If you don't believe me, try asking your local representative.
Also, I do see where under the Nexus it say's Blackberry.

I won't argue whether Wal-Mart is going to get the Nexus One or not. I don't really care. But one *BIG* point is

According to Android Central, Google is going to shutdown their Nexus One forums on November 1st, making them Read Only.
Semi-true.
Whilst there is an announcement to that effect, it also tells you where to post afterwards. Basically they're moving them to another section.
Not that they're really N1 specific anyway, there's no mention of N1 in their title anywhere.

It's not semi-true, it's completely true.
"The Nexus One forum will be archived and become read-only on November 1st. Please see the Nexus One Terms of Sale for details regarding support. If you have questions about using applications on your Nexus One post them to the Google Mobile Forum."
Google says they're shutting down the N1 section and you argue with them And apparently you missed the HUGE words NEXUS ONE at the top of the page, so the forums they are(were) indeed Nexus One specific:

I was just wondering that myself....a strange time to do this with Gingerbread right around the corner. Then again it's still the development phone...although even that could change at any time I suppose...no guarantees in life. Doesn't matter to me tho: CM will take care of our Gingerbread needs.
There it goes the "HTC Magic afair" again...
I´s normal that they get better hardware in which develop new features for their OS...
But dismantleying the Nexus crap is against our understanding and negatively impacts on the trust we got in the Google Phone
I was a little bit scared as well when I initially read this, but then I also came to the same realization as MuckenMire; "Why should I be scared?" My N1 is rooted, and as long as people love the N1, there will be plenty of dev's out there to give the latest and greatest and even better than greatest ROM's. Sure, at some point, the phone's hardware will cease to meet the minimum requirements of the then current high performance version of Android, but I hope and am pretty confident that there will be a new phone that is just as easy to mod as the N1 by then.

What's this?
http://phandroid.com/2010/12/09/nexus-one-for-vodafone-receiving-android-2-2-1-update/
I thought that Nexus phone will ALWAYS get update directly from Google?
So, if you buy from T-Mobile, there is a chance you need to wait from T-Mobile as well?
I don't get it.
NOTE: Before people shouting that this should be put specifically to the Nexus One forum. I think this is still valid information for us, who will buy Nexus S just because of the Google experience, like the old Nexus One. Hoping to get first update directly from Google when Google releases any new update. Apparently, that might NOT be the case! Well, hope NOT *finger crossed* ...
I cant speak for the rest of the world but US customers always get their updates directly from Google.
I have a Nexus One right now and have gotten 3 over the air updates directly from Google.

you can always root the phone and load the stock built from google. But being an android enthusiast i rarely do OTA as you lose root and have to wait, i rather wait for devs to build new roms or optimize the official roms.
Regardless if the Update is pushed from Google or pushed from Samsung it will be the First phone to get it, quite possible along with the N1 so what does it matter?

I didn't say they couldn't. I prefer Google handles them because I am still sitting here with a Fascinate running 2.1
Vodafone had a different build of Android for the phones they directly sold, I believe. No massive changes, but the update process is in their hands for their N1s

haha I just noticed. Well I hope Google will be putting out the Nexus S updates and not Samsung
Wonder if whatever it does get will be OTA, or via Kies like the GS?
Geez ... This is still a valid question for this Nexus S.
Why?
Because there will be a lot of people using "Pure Google" experience reasoning to decide whether to buy Nexus S or not.
Like me, one of the thing that I like with Nexus S is the direct update from Google.
Then I found that is NOT ALWAYS the case! That Nexus One from Vodafone for example.
So, I asked to this forum, probably someone in the know ...
Probably with this, people will know in the future if their Nexus S must wait Vodafone or T-Mobile or God knows who
See? Happy now?

In the UK, the CarPhoneWarehouse sells unbranded phones and just couples them with with a SIM from whatever provider you've picked, so they shouldn't be subject to carrier interference.
this is just a curiosity...
today Samsung has announced to have rich 10 Million Samsung galaxy S sold in 2010... anyone knows how many N1 have been sold from its launch day?
[BOARD CLEANUP] WARNING - DO *NOT* POST QUESTIONS IN THIS FORUM - only tips/info/etc.
Seriously dude...
Well, there are at least 11579 Nexus One devices running CM...
In all seriousness though, there were reports that Google sold 135000 in 74 days since its launch.
So, pulling some numbers out of my arse and applying some dodgy logic, I'd say no more than a million in a year since its launch world wide.

Notice it said the Nexus was heading to Verizon, never made it.

The Nexus one was never meant to sell millions of units.
If that would have been the case, do you think that the biggest advertisement company in the world would have any problem in advertising (sigh) their own phone?
The nexus1 is a developers phone, for the common public htc has the desire
Guys...the nexus one selling more than you think. Here in Canada we have two providers that selling nexus mobilicity and videotron @ 49$ after 3y contract or 479 without... it came out in August for the first 3 months it's was sold out...both provider are pushing it really hard! Also it's being sold and in Europe Asia Australia so bottom line it's not because you guys in the U.S don't have it and because google stop selling it on the internet that it's not being sold any more... I'm sure they past the million sold mark...Long live the NexusOne !!!

Interesting. Yeah I was thinking same way. I don't get why google decided to sell the nexus one in stores just outside us.but they sold it only online here.its just kind of weird. I guess they never meant to have the nexus as a success her on the states. Cuz seriously a dev phone only available to the devs is legit. I'd say most of the apps that are available nowadays are from the us

Here is the BGR report you're talking about
I searched Google Reader and didn't turn anything up.. I would have starred it if I would have seen it come through, so my guess is the numbers haven't been officially released
1) This thread is clearly posted in the wrong forum.
2) I would be absolutely shocked if there were more than a few hundred thousand out there. Google made zero effort to market the device and only openly sold it for a few months, and it was un-subsidized which Americans hate.
I wouldn't say it was un-subsided. Google/Tmo sold it for $179 with a new contract...

Per CNET blog:
excerpt -
"...and now a press conference on May 5, co-hosted by AT&T and Samsung.
The two companies just sent out invites to the event, which will take place in New York starting at 1 p.m, PT, but revealed few details about what they will discuss. The invite does indicate that there will be product demos, so it's pretty safe to assume that we'll see a new phone or perhaps a tablet?
There are a couple of possibilities. It could be the Samsung Galaxy S II, which was announced at Mobile World Congress 2011, but our Android Atlas blogger Scott Webster believes it will be AT&T's version of the Nexus S..."
