How do you sync up the myTouch 4G with a Mac? I have a 13 inch MacBook Pro if that helps.
If you're talking about syncing with your itunes content, use the doubletwist software that is included on the sd card and install the app from the market.
I want to view the contents of my phones SD Card
I think I know what you're talking about. I had an issue with my computer not recognizing my phone when I plugged it in as well. Try use a different cable and usb port (this seemed to have worked for me). If that doesn't work, trying choosing the charging only option with your phone connected and then switch back to mass storage. If neither of those 2 work, then install the usb tethering drivers (I believe they should be on the sd card). Hope this helps.
Please post question in Q&A section.
should show up as long as u have disk drive selected in settings under connect to pc
I'm on a Mac guys, do does everything still work the same?
It should work the same.
I have a 13" Macbook from a couple of years ago and didn't do anything special, just plugged in the usb cable and it showed up as a disk drive in Finder. Just make sure your phone is showing the connection type as usb drive.
Btw, if you want to sync with iTunes, check out iSync available in the Market.

I posted this question in the main Android Section in error but, I am running OS X 10.5 (Leopard) on a MacBook Air and I can't get it to read my Epic. The Epic will give me the prompt to mount as a storage device but my Mac won't see it. It also fails to see it with adb and the Epic in Dev mode.
Has anyone else with a Mac had this problem? If not any data on the version/hardware your running would be greatly appreciated to narrow down this problem.
Keep posting this but if it helps...
I had the same issue. I used a non-powered usb hub and now it works. Not the best solution but at least it's working.
i'm using a macbook pro (not air like yours) and i have two usb ports (one on the right and the other on the left). For some reason, only the right usb will work with my epic, the left side wont. i'm not sure how many usbs are on the air but try using different usb ports.

MacBook Air only has 1 measly USB port, so he might want to try a powered USB hub if that port is not supplying enough juice.
Yeah, its not OSX, its a power issue. Works fine on my Regular Unibody Macbook :/ with 10.6. People with Macbook Air and MacbookPro's are having issues.

So would the solution be to use a powered USB hub? A poster above said that using a non-powered USB hub did the trick for him.
I had the same exact problem with my evo. A software called NTFS for mac by Paragon fixed it for me (would post a link but don't know if it's allowed, google is your friend). It costs 20.00 but you can use the trial for free for a while and it works great. Now I can also copy and delete files from NTFS formatted external hard drives and flash drives, plus my android powered phone.
did you guys try the usb debugging mode , it worked in mine !!!

I find that odd because Android does not generally use the NTFS file format at it is a Windows file format. Android (and or Linux in general) usually go for FAT and or Ext2/3.
I have Paragon's NTFS for Mac on my Mac simply because i dabble with some NTFS formatted volumes but have never encountered an Android device using NTFS before.

Yes, that was the first thing I tried and I always have it enabled when I connect my Epic to my MBP.
I might be wrong about being NTFS. I just know that worked for me. I couldn't even see my evo in my devices until I installed that.

Interesting. If I use my older MacBook Pro (2009 model), it works when directly connected but does not work through my cinema display usb port.
Thank you everyone for your help. Turns out it's a power issue on the USB port, used a powered hub and came right up. I also tried the NTPS idea but that didn't do anything for me.
i havent been able to connect either i just put the sd card in the adapter and plug it straight into my mbp

That's what I had to resort to. I would assume that a Mac Mini with 5 usb ports would be sufficient enough to juice it but no dice. I have a powered hub laying around somewhere. Will give that a try and see wht gives.
Powered Hub is the trick
Had no success using USB ports on the MacBook Pro until I used a powered hub. Then I found:
1. With USB Debug on, a hinky message about the network appears. Ignore that and the phone will mount.
2. With USB Debug off, no message appears and the phone mounts.
With USB Debug off, I selected 'mass storage' and did not need to click on the USB notification to mount the phone. That's weird because you can also mount the phone through the USB notification. Not sure if one way is better than the other, but I'll stick with just the 'mass storage' option for now.
Mine doesn't mount and i'm in no mood to clutter my desktop with a hub when my Mac Mini already has 5 USB ports. So i said eff it and use an app called WebSharing to mount my Epic as a wifi volume and access from web browser. Very nice, wifi upload speeds are great. This work around suits me somewhat.
Hi folks, have a problem with my fascinate, I can connect it with QPST fine, however when I use the top pulldown menu, and touch
"USB Connected - Select to copy files to and from your computer"
it gives me the option to 'Mount' which I choose, however then it doesn't appear as a USB drive on my computer (Windows 7). So, I can't get it to connect as USB drive accessible through Windows.
I have an HTC incredible also, and when I do the same options, it will immediately pop up as 2 new drives in Windows (one for SD and one for internal memory). SO, it works for my Inc, but not for my Fascinate. A few possible reasons I am guessing may be:
1) Drive letter conflict with inc/fascinate
2) Some type of driver conflict
anyways, like I said I can connect to my fascinate with QPST/QXDM/CDMA Tools, so I know the USB cable works fine. I've tried it on several computers now, my 2 office ones and my laptop, and all similar results (no USB drive showing when mounted). FWIW I also at some point messed with drivers on these other computers too. However, I did also try uninstalling Samsing drivers, and reinstalling (did not solve the problem).
Ok, if you need more info I will be happy to provide, and any help is much appreciated, thx

Hey rm2011. Sure thing, thanks. It is show up under 'Unspecified' and ...
I just figured out my problem. I had the device setup under "Dial Up Networking" for QPST use. That is an either or option with mount for USB storage (not both)
so, thanks working now
i know its been awhile and i have the same thing. but mine say unknown device. its ok when i hu my other phone same model(fascinat)
For Pete's fookin sake.....
I mussa flashed 20 friggin ROMS to my WinMo Omnia....and I CAN'T EVEN GET THE DAMN DROID TO BE RECOGNIZED ON MY PC.
For cripes sake
So I loaded the USB driver.....on my XP PC. Plug in the droid. "USB Device Not Recognized...." OK....google....read....read...read... ah HAH...I'd set the USB Debugging mode to ON so I could root. Need to shut that back off. Done.
"USB Device Not Recognized...." .... again. Really? REALLY???? So....here I sit....unable to connect my REALLY nice Droid to my GODDAAMMMMMM PC
So...would somebody hold my hand here? Lill' help?
Have you tried switching different modes? Charge only, mass storage, pc mode. One of them might work.
Well I tried Usb and pc I wasn't sure about the other 2. When I was reinstalling the driver I noticed 1 choice was" remove", but I just picked repair. I'll try removing it tonight and then reinstalling it. I was hoping somebody might have an alternate driver to suggest

when you plug your phone into your computer, look at the notifications bar on your phone. Does it say that usb is connected?
Sometimes it helps to switch the USB port you plug in to.
So to see the data, are you switching the phone to Mass Storage mode? I know it's an obvious question, but just wanted to make sure...
Also some people had success hooking up to different computers.
I thank u all very much. My phone hooks right up to my wifes W7 laptop but no joy in any port, any storage setting, any gender of dead chicken being swung overhead while chanting in various states of undress. I did get it to rain,so that's sumpin. I quit.
I'm not gonna theme because I don't want to load the pc stuff on her computer (and listen to her complain that I'm "using up her memory"....u married guys recognize the die-on-this-hill avoidance) for the off-chance that things don't go right &I need to sob or abp or whatever that whole thing is.
I'm rooted,deodexed,de-bloatwared, and happy as a pig in **** with stock.
I might theme down the line if I can figure out how much crap id have to reload ... I'm frequently incapasitated by laziness and am tired of longpress deleting and longpress adding ...plus...I just bought power amp & don't wanna lose my license.
But its still fookin annoying that the goddam thing won't load on my desktop.
Peace out.

before you quit, could you try one simple thing?
have the phone on when you plug it into your computer. Once done, go to the notifications bar. If the phone recognizes the computer, it should say "USB connection".
Click USB connection and make sure its not on charge only.
To access the sd card, click on USB Mass Storage.
Man that's a good thing you and I go back so far. Is it was anybody else I'd say no forget it. I can tell you that the phone says usb connection. And I'm trying to find the sd card on the windows explorer
... are you saying there is somewhere else is the windows environment to click that I can determine if it's on mass storage or charge only?

Ok, here da deal:
Phone sees PC
Phone in mass storage mode
PC say "looky dere, m810,or sumtynes motorola.bla bla
Error occurred during bla bla
Bottom line: no removable drive in win explorer.
On the wifey's laptop it asks to scan, then poof! Dialog to do 5 or 6 things includir browse.
So thx y'all, but I'm satisfied for now with root,dedodex,de-bloated, running ADW Launch on stock.
Seriously, this is everything I always wanted my winmo to do...32gb sd & running pwr amp & I've retired my ipod micro (cuz the power cord gave up the ghost & ****in Apple wont let it work without their proprietary $20 cord ....on a $39 unit that holds 1gb? Heh..fuk dat....I digress. ) ...bookmarks to my cyber-haunts in short cuts that I can TALK THREADS INTO! Nah, im gold baby.

Arent they completely different in how they.connect
Have you tried plugging in your phone without putting it on usb and rebooting your xbox??? Also you can transfer the media to a usb drive and try it that way if you just wanted to watch the shows. As far as getting the hero to be recognized as a ext hard drive. Try booting into recovery and selecting usb-toggle. I dont recall the exact wording. But its the option you choose to transfer files threw recovery. That might get it to see it as a hard drive. Hope this helps good luck.

Android file transfert works fine. Do NOT install the Samsung USB driver from kies this Is complete ****. airdroid is **** too you can't even copy a folder. ah don't forget to disable USB debbug otherwise aft won't detect your device.
I've never been able to see any of my Android devices on my Mac without using Android File Transfer & I believev that's the way things just are.
The problem is that Android only presents itself over USB as either a media device using MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) or PTP (PrinterTransfer Protocol) standards - settable in settings. It does not support USB Mass Storage protocol.
Windows supports MTP out of the box for Media Player, so when you connect your Android to it - it shows up as what looks like, for all intents and purposes, a hard drive. In the Note's case - you get two: one for the internal simulated 'SD' card - and one for the actual SD card reader. This is why when you copy files to and from the Note, the experience is a little weird - it will offer to convert files for you, for example.
Unfortunately, MacOS X doesn't support MTP because, I suspect, Apple wants everyone using iDevices and their proprietary iTunes protocols which aren't compabtible with MTP.
Now, while it's dumb of Google not to support USB Mass Storage in Android, it's equally dumb of Apple not to support MTP in their OS.
Fortunately, there are addons you can get to fix this (as noted above).
Windows users (and I suspect, Linux ones as well) don't have a problem.

It's not across the board android, just the tablets. All my phones up to the note 2 would connect as mass storage even with exchange installed. Even the og note
I've just found an app called ES file explorer. Set up your Mac as a smb server and you can access your files via wifi. Much faster than blue tooth.
A video file transfer from my macbook to my note 10.1 took 4 hours, similar file via wifi took about 5 mins.
Still testing the app, but quite pleased so far.

Kinda. I don't think my Galaxy Nexus phone shows up in MacOS either (it's been a while since I checked so I could be wrong).
To complicate matters, each vendor adds bits to the OS. For example, Asus Transformer Primes can read NTFS drives out of the box - but most Androids can't. They've added something to the kernel to add the capability.
AFAIK, the base Android doesn't support USB Mass Storage on the host port.
